Mouse-over toggle transitions

I'm a retoucher/photo-illustrator -NOT- a web designer. Am looking to create a new website using a commercial web gallery template. All typical features work for my needs. EXCEPT- As a retoucher, I need to show before/after states of individual images. The better retouching sites allow a mouse-over to toggle between before/after. But I have been told that this is requires Flash and is a custom action -not available as a web gallery template.
My goal is to create a fairly basic web gallery to showcase my work, where I can personally update (add/delete) images. Squarespace.com offers customizable templates, but can't offer mouse-over toggles. Most web gallery templates just offer simple navigation via thumbnails. The toggle feature is critical to my type of work. It would not be practical for me to learn to build a website from scratch as I only plan to create my own single web gallery.
Suggestions from the pros appreciated.

Have you tried using Dreamweaver's roll over image link funtion?  You can have one image as the normal link and the second image as the "Over" image, then for the link target simply use  #  so the link doesn't go any where.

  • Interactive PDF with mouse-overs was created in Illustrator, now pauses and flashes when opened in Acrobat

    I have created an interactive PDF using Illustrator that has mouse-overs. When i export the file and then open it in Acrobat there is odd pausing on teh image bewteen mousing over it and the text callout that shold then display. Did I export or save incorrectly?

    Thank you for both responses! I'm impressed with the fact that you're reading my post.
    I'm new to tech matters with Adobe/PDF/Nitro tho I've been using them for several years.
    The original file was created by an agency and given to independent contractor to use.  I don't know which program they used to create the form. And I don't know what XFA or LiveCycle Designer means  because I'm not technically sophisticated unfortunately.
    I used Nitro 6 to populate the data and have a number of forms already filled out, which I periodically open and modify and resubmit. But Nitro 6 is acting sick, despite reinstalling several times.  I'm attempting to see if it's worth transitioning to Adobe Acrobat, i.e., can I reopen the forms I've populated and continue to work with them.  I like some of the Adobe features for other purposes (e.g., OCR).
    Any help in determining how to open the form while keeping the data?

  • Mouse over flicker problem

    I'm fairly new to Flash and couldn't find the exact same problem in the forums so here goes.
    Flash CS4, Actionscript 3.0
    I have a button that I have a mouseover event making another button appear (thus making it look like a color change).  It flickers like crazy with the mouse over.  Any suggestions?
    Here's the page (mind you nothing on it but this so far) http://www.forepointusa.com/flash/qbooks/keyfeatures.html
    Here's the code: (IT is the button you see when you first look at the file.)
    import fl.transitions.Tween;
    import fl.transitions.easing.*;
    ITBlue.alpha = 0;
    ITBlue.y = 130;
    IT.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showIT);
    IT.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,hideIT);
    function showIT(e:MouseEvent):void {
    ITBlue.y = 172.3;
    ITBlue.alpha = 100;
    function hideIT(e:MouseEvent):void {
    ITBlue.alpha = 0;
    ITBlue.y = 130;
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Is there a reason you don't use the one IT button and just use its Over frame to display it as blue?
    Note: in AS3, alpha ranges from 0 to 1 (not 100).
    To explain why you have what you have... I am assuming ITBlue is another button.  When you put ITBlue in front of IT you essentially block IT from the mouse, so you ignite IT's rollout function, sending ITBlue back out of the way, which ignites IT's rollover function again, and the cycle goes on unending.  If you hover just on the lower edge of IT, where ITBlue doesn't reach, you'll see it works as desired.
    The simplest way around this is to use the one button approach, as there will be no code needed for the rollover and rollout for what you have it doing now.
    An alternative would be to place ITBlue in its y = 172 position permanently, change IT to a plain graphic symbol, and use your current code assigned to ITBlue instead of IT, but again, it would be unecessary.
    Just some added info... An object that has its alpha set to 0 is still fully mouse interactive... an object that has its visible property set to false is not.

    Having a wierd problem. When you run the mouse over HTML

    Thanks in Advance,

    The problem goes away if i modify my .css file by removing
    the
    border: 1px solid #999999;
    line from the "a:hover" style.
    I ran my css file thru the validator at w3c and its fine. The

    and just a note the same file version is on my public server
    and my testing server.
    Has anyone ever seen this before?? I have several sites with

    before.

  • If I have a box with a title strip at the bottom, how do I make the strip pop up on mouse over

    So I am building a website for my company and Ive hit a brick wall on something that I know I could make work correct but I dont have the time and dont want to contiue to waste time experimenting. I have been using adobe flash and I know how to use it but not on this level I guess, I have got it to work in some cases but seems like it would be the worst to edit if needed.
    Im trying to make a box (button) that has a visible title strip at the bottom of it. When you mouse over the title slides up and it shows information, which you can click to go to a link or mouse out and it will go back down. Ive been trying everything and something always seems to not go just right. I need it to be fluid, for I will be doing it to 6 boxes in a row on the landing page of the site. Please let me know if anyone knows what Im talking about or can help in any way possible! There is an example on the sony site near the bottom with 4 boxes.   http://www.sony.com/index.php
    Also, If anyone were to know the answer to the Q above, What would be the best template to start in for this?
    Thanks, T

    Consider something like a JavaScript library for your tabs. You can do it yourself with standard jQuery effects easily (http://learn.jquery.com/effects/intro-to-effects/) or even use something premade as a wrapper if you really choose like jQuery UI (http://jqueryui.com/toggle/). Simple things like revealing content via a tab should be done in a modern way.
    The content of the tabs can be SWFs if you really have some serious animations/etc they can exist inside there.

  • Does Flash Engine supports "Mouse Over" events on an Android device with a mouse?

    We built our custome Android on a Beagle Board. When we play a Flash content on WebKit, the flash does not respond to mouse over events.
    When mouse pointer comes on an object with mouse over effect, nothing happends.
    Can you confirm that there is Mouse Over support in Android 2.2 Flash Engine?

    Thanks for the link. Im just stuck on one issue right now. I
    quickly noticed that the samples make use of mx.transitions.easing
    as seen in the script below. How does Flash 8 address this?
    myButton_btn.onRelease = function() {
    tweenBall(mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeOut);
    function tweenBall(easeType) {
    var begin = 20;
    var end = 380;
    var time = 20;
    var mc = ball_mc;
    ballTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(mc, "_x", easeType,
    begin, end, time);

    any advice on how to do this simply

    The simplest fix is to change the DOCTYPE.
    You're using a XHTML Transitional DOCTYPE.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    If you replace it with a HTML5 DOCTYPE
    <!DOCTYPE HTML>
    you'll eliminate most of those "errors".

  • How to stop AS2 carousel from spinning when not moused over...

    Hello Adobe forums,
    I've had a challenge that I cannot seem to figure out for the life of me right now.
    I have set up a mockup spinning carousel on this page here using Actionscript 2:

        this.swapDepths(Math.round(this._xscale) + 100);
    this.onMouseMove = function()
        speed = (this._xmouse-centerX)/8000;

    it's possible.  but, the main problem is detecting when the mouse is over your swf.
    as2 doesn't have a good way to detect that.  there are many work-arounds but no matter which work-around you use, you'll set a boolean (say, mouseOverBool) to true when you detect the mouse is over your swf and set it to false when the mouse is not over your swf.  you can then use:
    function mover()
    if(mouseOverBool){
        this._x = Math.cos(this.angle) * radiusX + centerX;
        this._y = Math.sin(this.angle) * radiusY + centerY;
        var s = (this._y - perspective) /(centerY+radiusY-perspective);
        this._xscale = this._yscale = s*100;
        this.angle += this._parent.speed;
        this.swapDepths(Math.round(this._xscale) + 100);
    // or to make this nicer, you can start a loop that decrements speed to 0 when the mouse is not over your swf.  and, as long as you're doing that, you may as well start a loop when you detect no mouse movement for some period of time that decrements speed to 0.  that will eliminate the need to check if the mouse is over your swf.

  • Larger image on mouse over

    Hi,
    I've got a map of the US divided into 5 territories. On mouse
    over each territory, I want to display a larger picture of that
    territory in a new window over that spot on the map. (I've got the
    map and the five larger graphics as separate files.)
    I thought I could draw the hot spots on the base map and
    assign them behaviors -- I see Open New Window in Behaviors. The
    only option it gives me is to open the new pic as a URL, replacing
    the main window.
    Is the answer the show/hide command? I see my list of
    available graphics -- can I get the larger pics in there somehow?
    Or give up in Dreamweaver and figure it out in Flash? Help
    appreciated beyond words. ttt

    > Is the answer the show/hide command?
    Yes.
    You would have to put the larger images into hidden layers
    and toggle their
    visibility.

  • Buttons Going Cr@zy when you mouse-over!!

    I'm having a really annoying issue that I can't seem to figure out why it's happening.  I setup navigation buttons for a site I'm working.  Using Action Script 2.0 and Caurina Tweener effects.  I've set it up so the buttons shoot out when you mouse over.  The problem is when you hold your cursor to the outer edge of the button it starts jumping rapidly.  I can't seem to figure out why this is or how to stop it.  I'm thinking about maybe putting a stop action when you mouse-out but I can't seem to get that to wrok either.  I might be soing something wrong with that code.  Ifsomeone could please look over my code and let me know what you think the problem is I would really appreciate it.

    you can delete that file, if you want.
    the top border of those buttons exactly display the problem i suggested.  when you mouse over the top edge, the button moves away from your cursor triggering a mouse out event.
    to remedy, don't have your button move away from the top (or any other) edge of the button.
    and my previous comment was to counter your claim that you see this done elsewhere without the problem.  post a url where a button moves away from the cursor and does not trigger the problem..
    you could expand an alpha 0 shape at the top of your button on rollover so a rollout is not triggered but the same design appears.

  • Mouse over Legend

    In a pie chart, when the values are very small and all values do not post to a slice of the chart, is it possible to mouse over the legend to see values?

    You can achieve this effect using several other components.  You could put a transparent toggle button component over each of the items in the legend.  Set the buttons to insert on mouse over.  Have text boxes that read from corresponding values dynamically display based upon the toggle button insert cells.  Hope this helps

  • Showing help text of controls when mouse over connector

    I'm working with a system where we have decided to use input clusters for all data to all vi:s. These clusters are saved as strict type defs.
    Our idea for documentation so far has been to write a description of what the vi does in the vi description, and describing the indata by documenting each element in the input clusters type defs.
    This works very well for documentation printing purposes. However, we cannot see the descriptions of the indata in the help pop-up when mouse-over the vi.
    Does anyone know a way of getting the documentation of the wired inputs to a vi when mouse-over the vi?
    Regards
    //Martin

    Do you want to (1) see the help info (description and tip) for the cluster when you're on the front panel of the VI that uses it, or (2) do you want to see the help info when you're on a diagram of a calling VI using the VI with the cluster as a sub-VI?
    1. In LabView 6.1 or 7.0, you will see the help info for a strict type-def control on the front panel of a VI that uses it. I saved a cluster as a strict type-def. I added description and tip for the cluster itself and for individual elements within the cluster. Then I added the cluster to the front panel of a VI.
    In either version 6.1 or 7, I can see the help info:
    I can see the description of the cluster or the individual element (depending on where the mouse is pointing) whenever I have context help open (Ctrl-H
    to toggle). I can see the tip for the cluster or individual element if the operate tool is selected.
    After I added the strict type-def control to a VI, I went back to the control editor and modified the description and tip, then updated the control on the VI and saw the new info.
    2. When you're on the diagram of a calling VI using the VI with the cluster as a sub-VI, the only help info (description and tip) available is what you entered for the sub-VI. You can't see the help for the individual controls on the sub-VI unless you open the sub-VI. On the VI with the cluster, you can cut and paste help info from the cluster to the VI. On the diagram of the calling VI, with the wiring tool selected, you can see the name of the sub-VI terminal, but not the help info for that terminal.
    Seeing the help for the individual control of a sub-VI when you're wiring it sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe in LabView 8?

  • Turn off metadata display box when mousing over photos?

    When mousing over photos in the viewer or browser, a box pops up next to the cursor showing metadata. I find this very distracting and annoying when editing a photo or confirming faces. In Aperture 2, you could turn it off under preferences, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn it off in Aperture 3 (metadata has a separate tab rather than controlling the viewing of metadata under preferences in A2). Hitting the letters Y and U work in the viewer and browser, respectively, but only for one photo - doesn't stop it for good. I've tried messing around with all the other metadata view settings. Any ideas?

    Hitting the letter T toggles the display, you can adjust this setting with Command -J.
