Alright. Updated to latest bios and also found out the reason for the lock. I accidentally turn on the max fsb function.
Anyway, thanks guys.

Hi there, I was trying to oc my 550BE and found out the FSB at the bios is locked. I can only increase/decrease the multiplier. How come?
It was running at 240 FSB at default.

Recommend opening a ticket with MSI Tech Support & describing in detail the problems you are having with the new bios. Since this is a user to user forum, nothing concerning a bios revision or the like is going to get fixed here. About the only advice anyone here could give would be maybe some new setting in the bios has been added, or a setting has been overlooked preventing the desired results.
After taking a peek in the manual, nothing is shown about the board having these setting options. It's possible the new bios has incorporated it. It would show up in bios Cell Menu & the description of what it is & what it does would be in the info box to the right. When OC'ing, make sure to disable Spread Spectrum. After the bios update, did you remove the power cord from the PSU & clear CMOS?
I have disabled the "Spread Spectrum" because it caused slow perfomance especially in SSD.
About the power cord and clear cmos. No, never, ever.

  • MSI X58A-GD65 BIOS Cell Menu Bugs!

    Hello,
I updated the bios to the latest version according to MSI's website (Update Date    2010-11-17 version 2.22)
I had configured everything from scratch and even Cell Menu options.
I had my CPU overclocked to 4.0 GHZ (20x200) and RAM to 1600 and in Extreme Profile 1 (8-8-8-24).
I verified that everything was ok and stabled (I did a couple of benchmarks and torture tests to be assured)
I noticed today that the BIOS refuses to run with the overclocked settings
By refusal I mean, it boots fine but it boots at 133x20!  (2660 mhz)
I tried setting the options again and nothing happened everything stayed the same.
Also I have disabled ALL POWER SAVING FEATURES like Green Power, Intel EIST and the like
    Some proof: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1514841
PS) I refuse to use the old bios because the old bios was worse than the current one and I will have more trouble with it.
    Give me a solution please.

I think this is related to the 219mhz HTT boot issue (as I was looking around the overclocking forums). I'm actually going to try using clockgen to see if if works. It was said in the topic that this is only on Winchesters.. But I have a San Diego.
    By the way...

Are you setting the 2.5-3-3-7 manually or allowing the BIOS to auto set them?  If auto that may be a problem and if manual are you putting the 2.5, 3's and 7 in the right place?
I manually set the timings to the timings of the RAM.
    Quote
    Any performance option enabled?
Other then 1T command rate, nope. Aggressive Timings is disabled in the Cell Menu. I have tried disabling 2T command rate, doesn't help. I wouldn't run the system with 2T anyway. This RAM is rated at 1T at 250mhz (which I have memtested it at).

Have you tried 4x or 2.5x HT link speed?
    Yes, no change.

  • DATAGRID FOCUS ISSUE: Focus got lost, while moving from one cell to another cell using tab key.

Problem: Focus got lost, while moving from one cell to another cell using tab key.
Example: In an AdvanceDataGrid, there are three columns having custom ItemRenderer with Spark TextInput control (editable=true & focusEnabled=true).
When I try to move the focus in with in 2nd, 3rd & 4th column using tab key, focus got lost. Most of the time it’s working, but some time it doesn’t work. There’s no clue as to how may rows/columns the focus has jumped to; or whether the focus has gone out of the data grid altogether.
Observations: I am not sure whether this problem is because of custom component implementation or it is because of some issue related to Flex Component.
It only occurs when we perform some actions like some server call, some complex logic execution etc. at the focus out event of itemrenderer.
There is one property of datagrid i.e. editedItemPosition which contains row & column index of datagrid. On the focus out event, it gets null when focus got lost. We tried to set it, but it didn’t work.
    Steps Performed:-
    1. Currently focus is in 2nd column i.e. Apply to #.
    2. Once I press tab key from 2nd column, it goes to 3rd column which is correct.
    3. Now if I press tab key from 2nd column i.e. Payment #, focus should go to 3rd column, but it goes out of data grid and set the focus of button which is outside data grid.

  • Any Cell Menu Tutorials out there?

    Hey All -
All is well but I'm trying to learn about the Cell Menu. No problems, but I haven't stressed this rig yet (ran ATTO on my Crucial RealSSD 128G though - right on spec)
Beyond my most pressing question - why (I think) my timings are reported as 7-7-7-19 instead of 9-9-9-24 - I'm looking for a site, a white paper, a guru-for-hire - anything that I can use to learn about the Cell Menu.
There's a ton of info on overclocking of course, but nothing like a general "here's how to read the Cell Menu."
Any thoughts on where to learn in-depth about the Cell Menu?
    Thanks guys!

Hey HU - thanks for the reply. Yes it's interesting to me, I put the Uncore Freq to 10 and tested with Everest, and for some reason my RAM times all dropped back to what they were with CR set to 2T (even though I did set it back to 1T).
So I went back, changed Uncore Freq to Auto and now I'm back on top of every category.
Anyway, I guess it's like the articles say re: OC'ing and BIOS settings: "your mileage may vary."
My Uncore Freq runs at 2400MHz on Auto and 2600MHz on 10. I assumed the faster rate would perform better but Everest seems to like the Auto setting better.
Eventually I'll post in the OC'ing forum once I understand these relationships a bit more - Uncore Freq, Mem Ratio, etc.
btw, is Everest a "legit" benchmarking program? I read tech sites and most don't use it in their reviews very often. But it's the only one I've got right now, that and ATTO.
Thanks again for your help HU!
Shoot - I just noticed Task Mngr is only seeing 8G or RAM instead of 12G.
weird because the Everest tests were great - tops in almost every category, and Everest (and CPU-Z) report 12G installed. Everest shows 12G but on the Usage section it's only showing 8G.
I tried putting the Uncore Ratio back to 10 and still only 8G. Tried Auto again, only 8G.
I may just go back to the default 1066 clock - Everest gave me the best results with that.
Unless there are other ideas perhaps...? I'd like to be running the RAM to spec - I guess. Although maybe I should rethink that - I'm getting better test results with the "slower" clock and faster timings. (defaulted to 7-7-7-19 1T @533MHz).
I suppose all this has very little real-world impact anyway...(?)
    thanks you guys!

  • JTable cell editor problem

Hi, I have a custom cell editor component being used on my JTable (a calendar component) and am having problems bringing the component out of edit mode when selecting another cell.
If I click on a cell it enters edit mode correctly, the I can drop a popup window out from this editor to display the calendar. If however I move to another cell this window remains active.
Could anyone explain how to come out of edit mode when moving to another cell (not necessarily selecting just moving the mouse in to another) ?
I also have a second problem in that the calendar editor doesn't set the value in to the cell when choosing a date from the component. It keeps the original value that was in the cell. I have implemented a setValueAt() method so I'm not sure why this is not fired, any ideas?? Code is below :

  • nvidia K7N2 Delta2-LSR Cell Menu

I have posted (in another thread) this in overclockers forum but I'm hoping of a wider audience here; perhaps there are more users in here with same motherboard and who may have come across same issue.  I am not trying to overclock but trying to find some stability with bios settings.  It was necessary to experiment with overclocking settings to try and get to the bottom of it.
As you can see if my signature I'm trying a beta bios 11.6.1 but symptoms were exactly the same with bios 11.5 which is only other one I've used.
These are my settings in bios>cell menu
High Performance Mode:  Optimal (or is it optimised?)
    Dynamic Overclocking: Disabled
    CPU Voltage: Default
    Memory Voltage: 2.70V
    AGP Voltage: 1.50V
    Adjust CPU FSB Frequency: 200MHz
    Adjust CPU Ratio: CPU Default
    CPU Interface: Optimal
    Adjust DRAM Frequency(FSB:DRAM):[SPD]
    Memory Timings: Optimized
    -T(RAS): 5
    -T(RCD): 2
    -T(RP): 2
    -CAS Latency: 2.0
    Adjust AGP Frequency: Default
    AGP Clock Value: 66
    FSB Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    AGP Spread Spectrum: Disabled
First of all the system runs very well (tempting fate?) at these settings.
    However, there are several issues I have found;
If I change High Performance mode from the default (optimised) setting to any other option, for example, manual, and without changing anything else the operating system fails to load properly.  It posts OK but invariably freezes at welcome screen.  Now I did want to adjust my tras setting, following syar's advice in another forum, but memory timings can only be adjusted if this HIgh Performance mode is adjusted first.  It then unlocks Memory timings setting.
If I only change CPU frequency from 200 to 2002 Mhz it doesn't post; get black screen on reboot.
Same thing if I change CPU interface from Optimal>aggressive, again only trying to change this setting.
Exact same thing if I change 'Adjust dram (FSB:Dram) from SPD to Auto, again only trying to change this setting.
The only way I could get to boot properly with a change to High Performance setting was to enable DOT!  Seems both these bioses need DOT enabled to make this change.
I could have lived with this but I found that DOT would disable itself after a day or two!  I also found on the sergeant setting that my fsb would change to 207 Mhz or thereabouts but would fluctuate between that and 200 Mhz for no apparent reason.
I've written to msi and I'm awaiting a response; I anticipate they will offer me the beta bios I subsequently found after writing to them.
    Any thoughts?
Maybe this should have been posted in bios forum so please move it if deemed necessary.
    Dave

    Frederick
Memory voltage is 2.75v at moment; have tried 2.8v with same result.  Cpu is on default, which shows as 1.63-1.66 in cpu-z.  I haven't altered this one as I don't know much about it.  Are you suggesting upping both?
I'm only trying (initially) to change High Performance mode from optimised to manual.  I can't understand why this affects it in such a way.
Cell Menu>High Performance>manual = freeze at welcome screen (unless DOT enabled)
I was running with DOT enabled on private quite merrily yesterday.  I have found though pc won't come out of stand-by, either S1 or S3, most of the time, and reset button doesn't then work.  Have to hold power switch in then; however it doesn't load O/S as it has disabled DOT itself!  With DOT disabled S1 and S3 work fine, so far!
I have found no issue with high performance and Memory timings on 'Optimised'.  Memtest and Prime95-no errors, so I should leave it at that.
However, I'm trying to increase my knowledge and understanding, hence all the posts, and my determination to get to the bottom of this.
Syndrome:- I'm not sure we have same problem have we?  I thought you were getting freezes and lock ups with default/optimised settings?
    You say Quote
All in default settings ----> but the memory set to AUTO (Default is By speed). In auto setting set memory bus 1:1. If you set this setting in manual configuration don't work.
You can't have auto and 1:1 can you?  I believe option is auto or spd until memory timings are changed from optimised, which expands the menu
    Thanks for advice though.

  • K8n Neo Platinum Freezes While in BIOS Cell Menu

I have been trying to fix a reboot problem with my new K8N Neo2 Platinum system (see separate post if interested in details). Someone suggested I change HT value in Cell menu in the BIOS from 5x to 4x.  I had not tried to access this item before.  Well, when I pressed "ENTER" while the HT line was highlighted, I got an outline of a text box that should have have had values in it I suppose but iin fact it had no text at all.  Furthermore, the BIOS screen was frozen and I was unable to continue without pressing ALT+CTRL+DEL.  The system restarted and I entered the BIOS again, went to the HT line in the Cell menu and the system froze again when I tried to edit the HT value.  (The BIOS is v 1.4).  I presume this means that the MB is defective.
Also, I cannot use the F10 key while in BIOS menu to "Save and Exit" as I could with my previous A2N MB.  Has anyone else noticed this?
Any help and/or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!  I was able to change the HT setting but unfortunately it did not solve my power-on-after-soft-reboot problem.

  • K8N Neo2 Plat Users - Cell Menu Options/What you Got???

    Hey All...
I know this is going to be different for everyone, based on their cooling solutions, individual parts, etc.  I have just gained the courage to start o'cing my joint, and I did not see a set place where people can see how they manipulated their bios to effect a stable overclock.  Here is what I have going right now:
    Cell Menu (Beta Bios 1.37)
    High Performance Mode = Manual
    Aggressive Timing = Disabled
    Dynamic Overclock = Disabled
    Spread Sprectrum = Disabled
    HT Frequency = 4x
    Cool'N'Quit = Disabled
    Adjust CPU Ratio = Startup
    Adjust CPU FSB = 215
    Adjust AGP Frequency = 67
    CPU Vid = 1.500v
CPU Volt = By CPU Vid
    Mem Volt = Auto
    AGP Volt = 1.5
I was hoping to start up a collection of records here to see where everyone stood with their rigs with respect to decent overclocks on this board.  As you can see, I am at 2.365 Ghz (215x11), and I feel I have already capped out (fail Prime 95 after a few hours).  My Memory are Crucial Ballistix (DDR533), so I know when I cap it is not due to memory (memtest clean as a whistle).
Feel free to provide your Cell Menu Specs to this thread.
If this has already been detailed elsewhere, please let me know.  Thanks!

I have my HT set at 3 allowing me to get to 272 fsb. I expect to go higher.
What is your Vcore set at using cpu-z?
I haven't tried going further though because of another question i need answered. Namely what does CPU Vid, CPU Volt do? The only time i can change the Vcore is if i change it to over percentage on CPU Volt. It won't matter what the VID is set to. I can change the CPU vid to anything but the Vcore will not change. Someone please enlighten me on this. When i first began to oc i thought i was increasing the Vcore when in fact i wasn't. Only when i choose to over percentage the CPU Voltage did it actually work. My problem now is i'm trying to find the lowest possible Vcore setting that my system will be prime stable at.

  • Menu problem with IE

menu problems with IE connected with spry - see site:

(vertical menu bars in questions are all over the page)
    thanks 4 help.

I tried in Firefox 3 and IE7 and they both seemed fairly slow
for any action to take place. But IE7 did seem pretty slugish.
It seems that you're already determined what the issue is,
you have waaaaaay too many menu items. Seems to me that that number
of items don't belong in a menu. There are even menus that are too
long to appear entirely on the page, so they can't be easily
accessed without accidentally hiding the menus again, which I did
    several times. IN particular:
    Cartuchos > Technologica
If you cannot change to a different format to show all of the
items, then perhaps you can split up the menu so that you don't
have too many at one time. I checked the code of your page and it
seems that you've got a lot of other scripting going on there
besides Spry, so is the issue with Spry or with everything else
you're trying to do with that menu. If you can try to recreate the
page with only the menu items on it (and not pulled in dynamically
on the fly), and then add back to your page a bit a time, you might
be able to find out what is really causing the delays.

    You might need a #
    ValueExpression exp =expressionFactory.createValueExpression(elContext,"#{menuItemss.name}", Object.class);

  • Sudden menu problem in CS4:  Running OS10 Mavericks. Anyone got a clue?

Cannot keep history and layers windows open simultaneously. Others likewise. By sudden I mean, one day it's fine, the next there's a menu problem. Assistance appreciated.

If you have placed your layout the way you want it, use the Save Workspace, give it a name, and only check Palette location in the Save dialog.
Then switch to another Workspace and back to your saved workspace to see if that fixes the problem.
Last resort is to reset Prefs. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift, start Photoshop and agree to the reset.
