MOVED: Base Clock Error Occured + Shut down every 30 minutes

This topic has been moved to Intel Core-iX boards.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=173484.0

I had my motherboard checked by the technicians nearby and found out that my motherboard is a victim of static.  Good thing it is still within warranty so they decided to replace it.  I have been running my rig for two weeks now and so far neither regular shutdowns nor Base Clock errors were encountered.
My BIOS is still 1.5 and so far I don't have any issues with it.
But just to answer xmad's question:
Is the Ram installed into the 2nd and last DIMM from the CPU?
Yes, i had this one checked and rechecked
What are the temps during a stress test?
i forgot.. but it was below 90C
Does the Behavior still occur with a single stick of ram installed into DIMM 2?
   yea, unfortunately

  • Desktop manager errors and shuts down every time I try to sync my Outlook...Help!

Anyone having a similar issue..installed, removed and reinstalled Desktop Manager and everytime I attempt to sync with Outlook it states that Desktop Manager has encountered an error and needs to close. I haven't been able to sync at all. It's my first BB, go easy on me. I would appreciate any assistance!

Well reading some other discussions i have found to try deauthirizing and reauthorizing, that didn't work. I guess i could remove iTunes and reinstall, but i hate to do that. Maybe I should take all the music off and sync and then try putting  it back on? Worked before i put music on there, but then there wasn't much to sync at that time. Anyone know of other possible causes that would make iTunes stop working?

  • PS CS5 shuts down every 5 minutes

does anybody know why this happens?

With the information you provide (little) I assume pretty much nobody can tell.
    Boilerplate-text:
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)

my imac (intel core i5, OS 10.10.1) shuts down every night and will not "wake up" next morning -- it never used to do that -- if I hold down the start button more than twice for many seconds, then it will finally boot up and works fine all day – I’ve tried shutting it down and unplugging it, and that does not work -- I’ve run disk utilities checked permissions, and run anti-virus and get no adverse results – I cannot figure out what is different that causes this problem

From previous experience 3 indicates a shutdown initiated by the SMC (System Management Controller) — hardware responsible for many low-level functions including power, sleep, lights, and fan activity.
    Try resetting it:
Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

I had a similar result with IBT.  It scared the crap out of me.  I think I hit 98c on one core  I couldn't hit the stop button fast enough.
I know what you mean. Seeing 90C or more does make one give a double take.     I am sure if I would have used IBT at 50X, the CPU would be screaming for life and shutdown to save itself.
Another anomaly I can't explain is when running real world apps and programs for further stability testing at both 47X and at 50X, none of the CPU cores went over 64C at either speed! I can only come to a conclusion concerning this that these CPU's or this platform is really smart and only uses what it needs to do the job asked of it.
Another feature of this platform that I 'really' like is the power saving is still intact even when the CPU V. is taken out of Auto.
I probably better leave the thread as I don't really have the exact same board or components as you and the OP have. My results and experiences with this platform may not be typical or apply to yours for comparison. I will add that as long as the CPU IMC can handle it, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM has been outstanding! RAM speed of 2666 @ 50X is not too shabby, but again, all depends on the CPU IMC.

Thanks so much Meg. Unfortunately, iTunes is the program I use to perform syncing. I don't really have other outside options. It is also the location of the backup I would use to restore my phone, and my only way to reclaim important data. I am concerned that, since the last backup occurred when the "other" bar was only moderately huge (around 29G I think), that a backup would replicate the problem back onto my phone.
My contacts, etc. are all in address book and the calendar app on my Mac.  As far as I know, iTunes is the way to get them back, but iTunes is where the problem is.
    Any thoughts on this?

  • Recent freezing and shutting down every down 10-15 minutes and hard to log in to internet very slow

My son has 2009 Macbook white version and recently (last week or so) freezing all the time, cannot log on to internet, and shuts down every 10-15 minutes. Is there a download (free hopefully to clean it up for any spyware or maleware). He is a student and very busy in University and cannot be without the computer?

He will need something to back up onto like an external hard drive. The disks are necessary if the hard drive needs to be repaired, you can't repair the boot volume so you need to start up from an install disc and run Disk Utility from there. When you talk to him have him resettle SMC and pram, sometimes unexpected shutdowns can be corrected that way. The freezing is another issue, I'm concerned with the health of his hard drive. Another thing to ask when you talk to him is how much total space and how much free space does his hard drive have?
    To reset the SMC
    MacBook and MacBook Pro
Laptops with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Newer Mac portables with a battery you don't remove
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

Aperture 3 shuts down every time I try to use it after only using it for one minute. Aperture closes then a pop up screen asks if I want to reopen Aperture. If somrone at Aperture didn't keep pushing a stop button for it to close,Apple wouldn't need to ask the stupid question"Do you want to reopen Aperture?" to begin with. Anyone out there having the same annoying problem?? I like Aperture or used to anyway, but if this nonsense continues, I will be forced to buy some other editor besides "No hanging fruit - Adobe photoshop CS5" or "I don't like you so I'm shutting down - Aperture".

    Hello,
sorry to hear about your troubles, but we will need to have more technical information about your problem to be able to help you:
There may be several reasons that can cause Aperture to crash on start up:
You may have imported an image (or video) in an encoding that Aperture does not support, or that is larger than 2 GB, or that is corrupted and Aperture cannot process it
Your Aperture Library or Preferences may have been corrupted
Or you are having a system wide problem with your machine.
Or you may simple be running out of disk space.
It would help, if you could post the crash log from your last crash. Also, more details on your Aperture Library: Is it managed or references? how large is it? Is it on your system drive or on an external drive?
What have you done, shortly before the trouble started? Have you imported new images or videos? Did you install any plug-ins or any new software, lile Final Cut?
Try, if you can get Aperture to launch, if you defer the generation of Previews: Hold down the SHIFT-key immediately after you start Aperture to prevent preview generation for that session. If a damaged image in your library is preventing normal opening, this may allow you to start Aperture. If this succeeds, try to identify the broken image or video among the images you recently imported and remove it from the library.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Shutting down every 30"

I have been using my Mac Air with Spotify and connecting it to the stereo system. It started shutting down approximately every 30 minutes. When it does it even closes all the programs. I think that I have all the settings so that it shouldn't shut down with the power cord connected? I have the Energy Saver setting on NEVER. Is there somthing I'm missing?

I've had FIOS for about two years and this just started happeneing to my HD set top box. I've gotten three different answers for when to expect delivery of the new box. POOOOOORRRR customer service! I don't expect this to resolve the issue. If it doesn't, I will demand that the outside box be replaced next. I also have three standard set top boxes in the house that are not affected. Verizon seems to be skirting the issue rather than actually trying to solve it. My box shuts down every 5-10 minutes now. And often gets stuck in a restart cycle and won't come back up.

Hello, I have MacBook Pro and whenever I start Aperature 3 it stays on for about 5 minutes then it shuts down with an error of shutting down unexpected... anything??
Also does anyone know how to take something from one picture and add it to another in aperature?
    Thank you!!!

I had the exact same problem. Here is what an Apple Support person told me to do - and it worked like a charm!
Go to your APPLICATIONS Folder. Find a folder within that folder called TOOLBARS. Remove the ENTIRE folder. Once you remove that folder, your Aperture should work perfectly.
There is something in that folder that you don't need that messes with Aperture. Try it. Mine worked perfectly!

Safari crashes and shuts down every time I visit Grays Online. Site usually flicks off in under a minute. Anyone else with this problem?

The website may need more memory than you have available if you are running iOS 5.1.1 on the original iPad. Try some basic troubleshooting steps. Maybe quitting all apps might be the best thing to try.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit ALL apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
