Movie clips in starmovie apps

Hello. I recently restored and updated my daughter's ipod touch hoping to erase restriction code that we forgot (5th time so far and don't want the ipod to get blocked). After restoring it, the restriction code area remains the same (5th time wrong code) and all of her movie clips in imovie apps and starmovie apps disappeared. We downloaded both apps again into her ipod but they don't come with her movie clips in them. Your advise please.

If you restored from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode in place the Restrictions passcode also gets restored. You have to restore to factory settings/new iPod.
Unless she imported the clips to her computer/email them or similar they are gone.

    Hey everyone, this might be a stupid question but I thought
    I'd ask cause it's making me nuts. I'm all of 2 days into AS3
    (coming from not using Flash at all in YEARS) so feel free to
    consider me ignorant. I do have plenty of application development
    experience in other areas though.
    I can't seem to create a class that can reference an instance
    of a movie clip on my main timeline. I'd post code of what I've
    tried but I've gone through so many desperate edits & wild
    guesses that it was just garbled junk before I deleted it all.
    Basically here's how I figured Flash could work, though maybe
    it doesn't work this way at all.
    I'm assuming that with AS 3 being so big on being a true
    object oriented environment, I wouldn't need to mix my code and
    interface together. Preferably I'd be using the Flash authoring
    tools just to design my interface. Create a button... place it
    somewhere... give it an instance name. Roughly the equivilant of
    Apple's InterfaceBuilder for those of you that might be familiar
    with Cocoa development. I can see maybe having to put a few lines
    of ActionScript onto frame 1 (though really I'm hoping Flash would
    have a better method of kicking off the application at this point
    that using code tied to frames) to load my classes & such, but
    after that I'd like all of my code to be held in external class
    files.
    So maybe I've got:
    Interface.fla - My interface
    Button_1
    Button_2
    TextField_1
    Main.as - My main controller class using to handle all of my
    applications behavior
    SomeClass.as - Some helper Class
    SomeOtherClass.as - Some helper Class
    Main.as would have instructions in its initialization method
    to go ahead & attach events to buttons & initialize
    anything else that needs to happen when the application starts.
    From there on it would all be objects communicating back &
    forth. Button_1 would get clicked with would fire
    Main.someMethod(). Main.someMethod() would then do it's thing and
    set the value of TextField_1. All very clean & code is very
    separated from interface.
    Unfortunately I can't for the life of me figure out how AS3
    classes reference each other like that. There doesn't seem to be
    any kind of a global 'root' or '_root' I can use to locate any
    movie clips on the stage. I've searched the help & the web for
    any kind of simple tutorial but to no avail. My job has tasked me
    with building a flash app for a project but I'd really rather not
    have a tone of ActionScript just shoved into frame 1. That just
    seems... ugh! (::shudder::)
    Can someone maybe point me in the right direction here? I'm
    really willing to do my homework but I can't seem to locate the
    info I need to get started. Also, is there an ActionScript IRC
    channel or something maybe?

    I worked with the problem last night and the solution I
    started coming to involved creating my own custom document class
    based off which extends MovieClip. My thought is that way I have
    access to the initialization routine of the timeline itself and
    that all of the elements on the main timeline should be
    "properties" of my custom class.
    Is this correct? Is there a down side to doing this & if
    so what is it & why?
    Also, just for my reference, the last time I did anything
    with ActionScript I think I was using '_root' to target the main
    timeline. WHat are the global variable names in AS 3? Is it just
    'root' & 'stage' or 'Root' & 'Stage' or what?

  • Button not working in Movie Clip

    I'm building a small 'table builder' app for a client. This
    is my first major project in flash and I've encountered something I
    cannot figure out for the life of me.
    In the .fla below there's a movie clip 'scroller' it has
    buttons in it which load .png's to the main stage. Some of the
    buttons work, some don't.... I can't figure out why. Even when I
    duplicate a button sometimes it doesn't work.??? If I take a button
    that's not working in the movie clip and cut/paste onto the main
    timeline it ALWAYS works. I've been pulling my hair out over this
    for the last two days . I have even started the whole project from
    scratch just to try and find out where I went wrong... but to no
    avail..... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm stuck on a
    hump and I need some help to get off of it.

    A few errors: Scene 1 frame 1 Actions layer. You are
    referring to buttons inside of the scroller, and you don't have
    too. They aren't doing anything. All you need on that frame is:

    Then on the Scroller you have that function again. Remove it
    from the scroller, as it does nothing there. Inside of the scroller
    all you need is code to attach png files from pressing the buttons.
    Make sure each button has a unique instance name, which isn't the
    case right now. You have like three buttons called imgbtn1. Fix
    that.

    The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, as your tagline says that you have iOS 4 then you can only update via your computer's iTunes, as described half-way down the page that you posted from.
    Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes and selecting 'Backup' (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC)
    Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

    work is have the button click cause - goto frame, which has the

    I just installed Leopard (OS X) with iLife and iWork (although I didn't actually install iWork). I can't drag and drop .mov or .dv files into a project. If I "File-->Import-->Movies", all the types I want to import (.mov & .dv) are grayed-out. I created and saved a project with the older version of iMovie (8) and then tried to import it into iMovie 9. The result is a message in the clips panel that says "No matching video. Choose a different options from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner." So far, everything I wanted to do is bust. Can somebody help?

    hi guys,
    i have 5 separate movie clips (swf) represent 5 flower petals,
    each of them is showing up from center,
    i load them in flex app by 5 separate mx:SWFLoader tags.
    the problem is they should sync with each other to open up the flower,
    but due to being loaded from network, they don't start at the same time.
    please help me, how to sync these flower petals?

  • Combining Movie Clips in iPhoto

    I currently use iPhoto 08 to download all of my photos and movie clips from my camera. Problem is, if I have, say 20 clips of one event on my camera, and want to combine into one large clip, i currently have to open all 20 clips, go to the second clip, "select all", hit "copy", then go to the first clip, "paste", then repeat 18x - - its very time consuming and easy to accidentally miss a clip or paste it in twice.....
    Is there any easier / less time consuming way in iPhoto or another app to easily combine clips into one long clip?

    Hi - I'm having the same problem with freeing up space on the HD. If I can't free space if I'm using any part of the clip, how can I split up the clips so that I can discard the part I won't use? This is crazy! I have only 4 GB of free space left!
    Also, I've tried to transfer the project file to my external HD but I keep getting an error saying I can't transfer it. I've been told this is because I don't have enough space on the HD for the transfer. I tried a similar transfer with another computer with plenty of HD space but the same error occurred. Is there a way to break up the project file into small pieces for the transfer (I'm thinking the whole movie file is just too big)?

    It's a search app that looks in places where Spotlight simply doesn't look. See if it can find them.
    Cause? Updating the system won't do this, but there are a million ways things can go wrong. I wouldn't worry about Apple cutting iPhoto. The current version will run on 10.10 for the foreseeable future - that's at least another year. Even when the next OS comes out, it may run on that too. If it doesn't, well releasing the new Photos.app and upgrading the OS will not turn iPhoto off or stop it working.

I have created an app, but I want a user to be able to reopen the app after close and pick up where they left off, or be able to change one thing and not have to start from the begining.   • Scrubbing Movie Clip Fills Memory, Crashes Flash

    Hello,
    We have a Flex 4/Actionscript 3 application that involves "scrubbing" through a Movie Clip that is a swf file derived from a .mov file.  This is accomplished by listenening to the change in value of an HSlider and calling gotoAndStop(n) on the Movie Clip repeatedly as the slider is dragged.  The Movie Clip is 720 pixels wide by 405 pixels high.
    It works great, however, after doing this scrubbing action a number of times, which is required by our application, we notice the memory (by tracing System.totalMemory and System.privateMemory) increasing dramatically; and when it gets to around 100 MB (though it's not the same every time), the Flash plugin in the browser will crash.  Our assumption is that this happens because the scrubbing essentially loads dozens of bitmaps (each frame of the Movie Clip that is scrubbed over) very rapidly.
    To try and ameliorate this, we have implemented aggressive garbage collection by calling System.pauseForGCIfCollectionImminent(0.1) on a timer every 10 seconds.  This usually keeps Flash from crashing, however, sometimes the garbage collection itself causes Flash to crash, though it's not 100% predictable.  We know this because we are tracing the garbage collection action and can see Flash crash when that action occurs.
    It doesn't seem like we have a memory leak per se, as the free memory is eventually regained when forcing garbage collection.
    So I have a couple of questions:
    1) Is there any way to keep the memory from getting so large in the first place, given that we need this scrubbing functionality?
    2) If not, is there a better way of tweaking the garbage collection so that it frees up memory while not itself causing Flash to crash?

    OK, I created a new Flex project with just the simplest possible scrubbing code, plus the memory tracing.  Unfortunately, I'm getting the same results as I get in our big app.  If I can figure out what you're doing differently, I might be able to get somewhere. Here's the code:

    You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
    Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
    Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.
