Moving a simple iostream program from g++ to gcc

Hi,
I have a simple program

return 0;
I've been using g++ to compile it. If I now use gcc instead, then it's not finding the libraries.
can you please show me what to put in the following:
from
g++ -o example1 -Wno-deprecated -R/usr/local/lib example1.cc
to
gcc -o example1 -Wno-deprecated -R/usr/local/lib example1.cc
but as it stands the command above using gcc doesn't work, while g++ does???/

Thanks for the feedback. Helpful info as we move forward. We're starting to get the hang of what we've ventured into with the Windows machine. Great performance. Some foibles like the issues with codecs, but seems they may be at least a bit less of a problem than they first appeared. One issue is our Adobe font library for our Macs. Most of the fonts don't port over to the Windows side and that's a bit of a problem for an ad agency that tries to keep graphic /font consistency between our print and our video projects.

How to make a simple C program universal from the command line???

Hi all,
I've developed widgets that use a simple C program. I had no clue how to make it universal. Apple documentation is all about big projects to be developed inside Xcode and so on, but I don't understand even the introductory remarks...
As far as I've read, I have to make a binary for PPC and a binary for i386, and then merge it with lipo. Fine. I get my PPC binary from:
gcc-4.0 prog.c -o prog_ppc -lm -arch ppc -arch ppc64
Now, it seems that I have to use:
gcc-4.0 prog.c -o prog_i386 -lm -arch i386
The latter command didn't work until I added -L/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/lib/ at the end. With this, it creates a binary file, but with the following message:
/usr/bin/ld: warning fat file: /usr/lib/system/libmathCommon.A.dylib does not contain an architecture that matches the specified -arch flag: i386 (file ignored)
and I guess this is quite an issue if I don't have the common math functions, no?...
Can somebody help me? I googled a lot on this, and found nothing helpful.

Can I run another Small Basic program from a simple menu in another Small Basic program, (It does not need to return!)

Is there a way of calling another program from within a small basic program ?
I dont mean run within it and then continue where it left off.
I simply ideally I ideally want to create one program that only contains menu options and depending on the user choice, then to go off and run another program.
If this is not possible..maybe I am getting over cautious, but does any one know the program size limit, if I need to put all teh features in one program ?

You would need an extension that can start an external exe (may be any exe includng another pre-compiled Small Basic program, or even the SmallBasicComplier to compile source and then run it), such as LDProcess.Start in my extension. There are also
other extensions with this or similar commands.

1-There should be a number of buttons for choosing different shapes to draw. For example, there should be a button for rectangle. If user presses the rectangle button, then he can draw a rectangle using mouse. Similarly, there should be a button for each shape(rectangle, circle, ellipse, and line etc.
2-The shapes can be filled with different colors.
3-There should be option of moving .
4- There should also be three menus including File, Shape, and Color menu.
i. File menu can have menu items New and Exit. If user selects New, the drawing area will be cleared and all shapes will be erased.
ii. Shape menu will serve the same purpose as of feature 2 described above. It will have menu items for drawing all the different shapes. For example, there will be menu item for rectangle; so user can draw a rectangle by selecting the menu item for rectangle.
iii. Color menu will serve the same purpose as of feature 3 described above. It will have menu items for all the colors which are shown in color buttons. The user can select a color from this menu and then click inside a shape to fill it with the selected color.

Read the Swing tutorial. There are sections on how to use menus and painting and all other kinds of stuff you need to do this homework assignment. Nobody here is going to write the code for you:

Simple sorting program for folders/files

Hello comunity,
I would like to make a simple sorting program which will scan through some folder looking for files with different extensions. Then copy files of the same format (example *.pdf) and (create) place them into folder with the name of the extension. After that the program (script) should look for another extension and do the similar operation to them untill all files will be moved. I am new to applescript and automator.app, so could you please put me on the right direction which programmin (script) language should I use. Sample code and good tips would be usefull too. Thank you for your time.

This is not a hard thing to do. If you want to write it yourself, and have some background in programming, I recommend to read a book on AppleScript and start writing the code in AppleScript Editor.
The AppleScript Language Guide is a free reference book by Apple which you can download it. There are a lot of sample codes on the net too.
You should use the Finder dictionary to do this work. Finder is a scriptable application in Mac, which has a dictionary. This dictionary describes about the objects inside the finder that do all the duties of the Finder and you can call them directly in AppleScript to automate things. Open AppleScript editor, go to Window > Library and double click on Finder. This will open the dictionary. Note that all the objects in scriptable applications have a hierarchical relationship, starting from the root "application" object. You can read the dictionary to get familiar with the objects in the Finder app and know how to use them.

If you can program in Objective-C and not have enough time to learn AppleScript, you can use Scripting Bridge technology to automate scriptable applications using Objective-C. This is so much better because enables you to debug your code or execute it line by line, which is not possible when working with AppleScript Editor.

Need Help with Simple Chat Program

I dont think i am getting exception as i can c the output once.What i am trying to do is repeat the process which i m getting once.What my method does is first one sends the packet to multicasting group (UDP) and other method receives the packets and prints.

"Assertion failed" error when executing a simple UCI program

I am using a simple UCI program (tt1.c) with Xmath version 7.0.1 on Sloaris 2.8 that performs the followings:
- Start Xmath701
- Sleep 10 Seconds
- Load a sysbuild model
- Stop Xmath
I am calling the uci executable using the following command:
> /usr/local/apps/matrixx-7.0.1/bin/xmath -call tt1 &
In this way everything works fine and the following printouts from the program are produced.

All the processes (tt1, XMATH, xmath_mon, and sysbld) terminate correctly.
The problem occurs if the 10 second wait after starting xmath is omitted:

3- If the answer to the above question is yes, is there a way to check the termination of sysbld initialization?

I tracked down the problem and it is a race condition between the many processes being started up. A smaller delay should also solve the problem. Or, maybe do something else before the first 'load'. The 'load' command tries to launch systembuild and causes the race condition.

Weblogic error while deplying a simple servlet program

I am trying to deploy it on the weblogic server but i get this error as follow

I have checked everything, right from my code to my web.xml file. I have used a build.bat file to build my war file.

Not able to run the Java Program from jre for the ARM processor

Hi ,
I am try to run the jre1.4.2 for the arm core (linux 2.6kernel) which i downloaded from the sun site.
I am created the class file from the J2SE1.4 development kit. I created the simple HelloWorld Program and complied with J2Se then i copied that class file into my IMX board which has ARM core.
When i run the commnd java HelloWorld i am getting this error

I am not willing to wade through the code, but this portion makes me conjecture your using an Oracle connect string instead of a class name.

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I installed Nik:s suite of plug-ins for LR5 but for some reason not all of them were installed. In the end I uninstalled all of the Nik programs from my Mac but before I reinstalled them I opened LR5 again to check. Under "photo" and "edit in" the plug-in

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

How Do I Uninstall a Program from A iMac G5?

I have just moved over to my first apple computer an iMac G5, and i installed a trial version of Sophos Anti Virus software which does not work well, and so I wish to remove it.
The thing is I dont know how you uninstall programs from the Mac system. I am running OS X 10.4.3
Also, can someone plese tell me what Antivirus program is reliable to install.
I have managed to turn on the built in Firewall that is in 'System Preferences' so I guess i don't need to buy another software version as well?

PS, I have been extreamly impressed how easy it has been to install my printer, graphics tablet and PDA on a Mac system, as this has been very problematic when I used Windows XP Pro.
I think I am now a convert for life!

I have never run anything unessential on my mac's for the past four years
(after crossing over from Generic PC to Mac after being hacked in front of my eyes on the windows ME platform. I saw my desktop gradually deleted and the computer left with only the desktop, no icons, and no where to go ! re-started and there was no system left !)
since changing over to Mac like anti virus and such, I just use built in firewall.
Probably have to get a little more cautious as times change though.
Uninstall is just grab the application and throw it in the bin generaly. Just throw away the main folder if there is one of the application you want to un-install there may be some pref files left over but generaly these do not cause a problem.
Probably run disk utility after emptying your trash and press repair disk permissions and that should do it.
But I am no expert at all it is just what works for me.

i have a scenario proxy to soap where i am getting error while getting the response .
we are sending the request successfully and getting response .some times we are getting in proxy level error below

Hello Ravinder,
Can you please post the complete stack trace, it seems to be some fields are getting truncated i,e data sent from the program to the proxy object might be violating some length restrictions.
Please check your message interface field lengths and what is being passed to the proxy.
