MS Access form bound to an Oracle OraDynaset?

Hello,
I need to write an MSAccess 2007 application as a front-end to an Oracle 11g database.
Is it possible to bind a MS Access form to an Oracle OraDynaset?

M.R.

Hi,
Unless, you are writing dynamic queries, you might want to
define your outerj SQL in MS Access and then issue a simple
SELECT in Reports against the outerj MS Access query (to MS
Access this query is just another pseudo table).

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • User-friendly message to Microsoft Access form's user from Oracle server

    I put statment like this
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20001, 'You forgot to enter date') in before insert trigger, so I see in my access form this message, but also a lot of statments like:
    Insert failed,
    ORA-06512: at ....., line 11
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger ...
Is there a possibility to leave only this user friendly message 'You forgot to enter date!', isn't it?
I would be very fankfull! Please help

    Hi,
    >>so I see in my access form this message
This a exception, You need find a way to capture this message from Microsoft Access.
    Cheers

  • How to find users machine / IP who is accessing forms through Oracle AS

    Dear Gurus
We need to know the users machine / IP who are accessing forms through Oracle 9i Application Server, how can we find that?
    thanks in advance
    regards
    Mehmood

    Mehmood,
Set serverURL=/forms90/f90servlet/session in the Forms Web configuration default section or add it to the URL to start tracing host name and ip-addresses from clients. The output appears in the servlet log file application.log. sessionperf , perf and debug are the other options instead of session.

  • Using Access forms after migrating data to Oracle

    Hi,
One of the features provided by the original Migration Workbench appears to be the ability to modify a migrated Access database to use an ODBC connection to Oracle so that the original forms could still be used. I have just been through the process of migrating the demo Northwind database into Oracle using the SQL Developer Migration Workbench but this doesn't appear to be an option.
I am missing something or is this feature not available using the migration tools in SQL Developer?
And if it is missing what would be the easiest way to achieve this? From my limited exposure to Access converting the Northwind application manually appears to be rather painful.
    Many thanks,
    Vince

    Hi Vince,
As you have correctly stated, the option to modify an MS Access database for the purpose of using the original forms is not available in Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench. As this option is no longer available, the easiest way to achieve the same result is to manually update your MDB file to reference the migrated Oracle tables. Once your MS Access Forms are referencing the link tables, you can continue using the forms as before. I would suggest doing the following:
NOTE: These steps should only be carried out after you have migrated your tables from Access to Oracle using Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench. I would also recommend that you take a back-up of your MDB file before carrying out the following steps...just to be on the safe side!
    1. Create a new System DSM (using the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog, via the Control Panel > Administrative Tools on your OS), using the connection details to access the newly migrated Oracle database schema. Test the connection, to ensure it's working correctly.
    2. Open your MDB file in database view - double-click the MDB file, holding down the Shift key.
    3. Remove the original Access tables.
    4. Using the Insert > Table menu item in MS Access, start the New Table wizard and create Link Tables to each of the migrated tables in your Oracle schema. NOTE: Rename the Link Table(s) so it matches the original Access table name. This will save you from having to edit each of the Forms, to change the Record Source it's based on. The form will still have a reference to the original table name, so by reusing the same name your form should just continue working as before. The only difference is that the data is being retrieved from the Oracle database now!
If you have any questions regarding any of the above information, just respond to this thread & I'll get back to you.
    I hope this helps.

    Hilary

  • Problem with execution of  a forms in Intranet (IAS oracle Server)

    Hi every body!!!!
I have a serious problem, that i could not resolve for more than a week, it's awfull!!!
my problem is that i have compiled certains forms V6 in IAS oracle server with using the command f60gen, when i call certain of my forms from a menu in intranet, they could not be executed, even if every things is compiled correctly!!!
Just a precision: the forms that i wanted to excute, calls another forms at the end of the trigger "when-New-Form-instance"
another thing: i have released that only the forms that call other forms, that could not be called from my menu, all other simple forms are accessed correctly!!
    Can some help me please!!!!!!
thank you so much for your help,
    Reda

Thank you for your answer, but i will explain much more my problem:
From my intranet, I have a menu in which a call my forms, and there are two possibilities:
The first: there is a direct call to a Form in this case it is okay.
The second case: there is a call to a Form A that will call a Form B.
in the form A: there are just some initialisations to global variables and at the end there is a call to A form B in the trigger 'when-new-instance'
I deployed theses forms in two machines, it worked in one machine, but didn't work in the second machine, so i compared the configuration of the two machines but i didn't find any difference!
Just a precision: I have deployed Forms version 6, because i have upgraded them from the version 3.5 to 6 and the old versions work fine in the two machines.
Thank you very much for any suggestions

  • Ms-access XP front-end and oracle ODBC driver

    Hi all,
I need to set up 5 workstations with ms-access front end accessing an oracle database through Oracle ODBC 9.2.0.5.0 driver and linked tables.
My main concern is to learn about any issues that may limit what can and cant be done through access as opposed to an oracle client. I found out that the maximum size of an access XP database is 2GB, but I have not found accurate information as to the maximum number of records ms-access can handle per table. This would be of critical importance to me because the tables I'm working with may eventually hold up to hundreds of thousands of records.
Concurrency control is also an important topic since 2 or more of the clients may at some point read or write information on the same tables.
Answers to these questions and any other issues of special importance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot,
    JP.

Just seen this message you had posted to OTN. I am currently looking for some sample codes developing applications using MS Access as front end connected to Oracle database. I appreciate if you can provide me some sample codes that has a master-detail-relationship type of access form that performs an inserts into the master and detail table. Thanks a lot.

  • How can LabVIEW press a command button in access form?

Situation: access database with a command button, who generate a code after pushing
Task: LabVIEW open the access database, pressed the command button and read out the code
    Status:
use activeX to open the access database - ready
press the command button - open
read out the code - open
Problem: Is there a possibility that LabVIEW press automatically the command button in the access form?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First off, you are confusing your terms. Access is not a database. It's an development environment for creating applications that use databases. By default, Access uses a DBMS called Jet that is built into Windows, but it can use others like SQL Server or even Oracle.
Second, in terms of pushing the button, that is totally dependent upon what functionality Access' ActiveX interface chooses to expose to external applications.
Third, what does the button actually do? The statement, "..generate a code.." is meaningless. Does it perform a query? Does it generate a report? Does it modify records?

  • Form login problem in Oracle 10g AS, even form does display

    Dear All
We are facing one problem, when we access form with oracle 10g AS, the form is displayed, but when we enter username and password, it doesnt go to the other screen, it remains hang there and doesnt do any thing, neither give any error.
    we would appreciate the help.
    thanks in advance

Sounds like you cannot connect to the database....
Is there a firewall between the app-server and the database? If yes, could you check with your firewall people that all traffice from db-server is allowed to app-server (from app-server to db-server just 1521, or another port that you used for the listener, is enough)
If not all traffic is allowed, then check the USE_SHARED_SOCKET environment variable (this is the windows name, there is a setting like this for unix too, but I can't recall the exact name by heart. It might be different)

  • How to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM

How and from where to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM ??
    Thanks

    Hi,
first of all, the online help system of grid control is outstanding. Just click on Help in the upper right corner and enter "Tablespace Extent Map" in the search form.
    Result:
    Show Tablespace Contents Page
Each Oracle database is divided into one or more logical units called tablespaces. You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage these tablespaces and create or modify the parameters for the tablespaces. Use the Tablespace property sheet to set general and storage information for the specified tablespace.
Use the Show Tablespace Contents page to display the list of tablespace segments that comprise the existing tablespace. You can display Tablespace Extents by choosing Show Tablespace Extent Map at the bottom of the page. An extent is a logical unit of database storage space allocation made up of a number of contiguous data blocks. One or more extents in turn make up a segment. When the existing space in a segment is completely used, Oracle allocates a new extent for the segment.
You can view segment extents by clicking on the link in the Extents column to display the Extents in Segments page.
You can display the Show Tablespace Contents page by choosing Show Tablespace Contents from the command drop down list on the Tablespace property page, the Tablespace View page, or the Tablespace search results page.
Note: Developers could only display the tablespace map to a maximum hard coded number of 30,000 extents. Tablespaces are often larger than that. If a tablespace is larger than 30,000 extents, the portion over that is displayed as Unmapped. To avoid exceeding the memory capacity of the tablespace map and to display the map without unmapped extents, use a search criteria displaying results of less than 30K extents.
For an overview of tablespaces, see the "Overview of Tablespaces " chapter of the Oracle Database Concepts Guide.
For more information about managing tablespaces, see the " Managing Tablespaces" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrators Guide.
For more information about managing datafiles, see the " Managing Datafiles and Tempfiles" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.

    Hi,
regarding adding (Add (C:\ABC) to FORMS60_PATH in the registry) could you please explain
compilation is by f60gen @ (is this right?)Correct, the syntax of using f60gen is explained in (Note: 130686.1 - How to Generate Form, Library and Menu for Oracle Applications).
The place where i am working has apps installed in IBM AIX server .. so how do i access Apps
or can i access Apps via TOAD.You will have to access the server using ftp to download the pll files to your local machine. TOAD can be used to access the database objects only (not the physical application files).

    Hi,
Can you find more details in $LOG_HOME/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/forms/forms_<default_group_1>/application.log?
Also, generate the FRD file and see if it collects more details about the error.

  • Problems connecting from Forms 6i to Personal Oracle

I have loaded Oracle 8i Personal Edition in the following directory c:\Oracle\Oar81 and Forms 6i in c:\Orawin95 on my local PC. I'm running windows 98 OS. I have been able to use SQL*Plus to query the customer and sales_order demo databases sucessfully. I've also went out to DOS and started up the listner. However when I bring up Forms Builder and try to connect to the database I get the following error: ORA-01034: Oracle not available. I am logging in as scott/tiger. Do I need to specify a database name? Do you have specific suggestions on how to get the Oracle database and Forms Builder talking?

I have tried your solution and it did not work. Is there another proposition. It seems there is a lot of bugs in oracle forms 6i or personal oracle 8i.
