MSO audio clip button issue

I have an MSO with 3 states and a picture in each state.
I then add an mp3 sound clip to each picture in the 3 different states.
To navigate between states I have 2 buttons that are set to Go to state 2 and 3, respectively, and a home button to take the user back to the 1st state.
My problem is that when the mp3′s are added in the 3 states, the buttons just stop responding.
When I remove an mp3 clip from the 2nd or 3rd state the buttons work again.
I have tried grouping and different combinations of inserting the media but to no avail.
The mp3's are all very small, around 400kb each, so can't see it being a memory issue.

I managed to put a video clip together where the visuals are the picture I was going to use as the button in 1 of the 3 states and the audio is the mp3 clip.
Thus, my 3 state MSO now has an mp3 in 2 of the states and a video "fix" in the third.
This seems to work although I don't like the progress bar that appears at the bottom of the picture as the file is playing.
For now it is a temporary solution but I would still like to know why one cannot place 3 mp3's in a 3 state MSO without losing "Go to state" button functionality.
Any help in this regard would be great
Thanx

  • Audio clip length issue in iMovie 09

I made a very short (1:39) video with a sound file from my iTunes library. The length of this audio file is exactly 1:39. The video was originally made on my MacBook Pro; I then copied the event folder as well as the Project file to the respective folders on my Mac Pro (which has the same iTunes library as my laptop). I viewed the video, and because everything was fine, I uploaded it to my mobile me gallery. So far so good.
A few days later, I wanted to create a standalone version of the video, so (on my Mac Pro), I exported an HD version. When I played that export, the sound ended thirteen seconds before the end of the video. I went back to check, and it turned out that my audio file now showed 1:26 in length. I deleted it, and picked it up again from the iTunes browser within iMovie. Even though the length clearly showed as 1:39 in the iTunes browser, it reverted to 1:26 in the project window with no obvious way to adjust the length.
I dragged the Events folder and project file for this video to the desktop of the Mac Pro and copied the ones from the MacBook Pro to the Mac Pro again, putting them both in their respective proper location. Even though the sound was perfect on the laptop, it once again showed a length of only 1:26 in the project window on Mac Pro.
Next, I tried to remove the iMovie prefs file, but it seems that in that case, the application forgets about all its events and projects, so I quickly restored it. I cannot use the Prefs file from my laptop as there are only a couple of videos that are common to both machines.
The real question is: other than in the project file, where could information about the length of a sound clip be stored? Why is it not possible for me to copy events folder and project file from my laptop to my desktop Mac even though this worked perfectly up to now? I tried the option in the inspector to restore the sound clip to its original state, and it did not do anything (I believe that option only affects normalization, anyway).
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what else I can try?
    Daniel

I also have this problem. It seems to be a bug in version 8.0.6. Before that everything worked fine. Deleting preferences didn't help. When closing iMovie and re-opening it works for a while, but then soon audio skimming suddenly disappears.
Please send also bug report to make sure Apple would prioritize fixing this. In iMovie menu there is a selection 'Provide iMovie feedback'

  • Audio clip desync issue

    Hello everyone,
Been having a bit of a problem with one of my video clips. All of my footage was filmed on the same camera, and then converted to FLV with media encoder. I'm just trying to cut and stitch them together into a video, and everything was going great, until this one clip.
I tried importing the file the same way I'd been doing all of them. When I try and play the file however, the audio is out of sync, but about 2 minutes. I've tried reimporting, re-converting from its original format, restarting AE, restarting PC, checking frame rate.
If someone might have a solution to this, I'd love to hear your suggestions. Also, if you have any questions about the files, I'll answer them the best I can.

Well, at the moment the few things we know for certain is that you shoot on a T2i, you're on a PC (OS?), you run AE (version?) and you posess some kind of external audio.
The solution may be as simple as deleting and re-ingesting the problem clip.  I'd start there -- it's so easy.
No joy?  We'll need a boatload more information,  because it could be any one of a gazillion different things.
Here's a litany of diagnostic questions concerning AE problems.
But at the moment, who's to say the problem lies in AE, and not somewhere else?  Expect more questions.

  • Merged clips and modified audio channels bug/issue

My problem is that if I create a merged clip and modify it's audio channels Premiere (both CC and CC2014) does not respect the modification under specific circumstances. These circumstances are: if I use keyboard shortcuts or the source window buttons for overwrite/insert to cut the merged clip into a timeline. However, if I drag & drop the clip from the source window or from a bin into the timeline Premiere will respect the audio channels set through modify audio channels.
Here are steps needed to create my problem. You will need a video clip and an audio clip with at least two channels to reproduce this.
    1. Create a merged clip from the video and audio. Does not matter if you have "Remove audio from AV clip" enabled or not.
    2. Right click on the merged clip in the bin and select Modify -> Audio Channels.
    3. Set the merged clip's audio channels to Number of Audio Tracks: 1, Channel Format: Mono. Set the source channel for Audio 1 to anything except Channel 1. Click OK.
    4. Make sure you have the merged clip open in the source monitor. Use keyboard shortcuts (. or ,) or the insert/overwrite buttons in the source monitor to cut the clip into a sequence.
    5. The merged clip in the sequence will use channel 1 for audio, even though it has been set to use another channel.
    6. Now try drag & dropping the merged clip from either the source monitor or from a bin into the sequence. It will now use the audio channel that has been set through modify audio channels.
My workaround is to use drag & drop for now for affected clips, but in the long run this is a pain in the backside.
My question is if this is something that affects other users as well. And while I'm waiting for a fix, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get modified audio channels to work properly, I will gladly listen.
I have filed a bug report for this. I have reproduced this on multiple Windows 7 machines with Premiere Pro CC and on two Macs with both CC and CC 2014.
EDIT to add: I have been in discussion with Rameez from Adobe about this through the support chat and have been told that this is working as intended. He suggested I post a thread about it to see how other editors feel about the functionality. I personally feel that the way it works now makes no sense at all. If others feel the same way, maybe this issue can be fixed in a future update. So please make your voice heard.
EDIT to add: In most usage this might not be an issue at all. But if for example you have external audio on multiple channels and to make sure you have a clean timeline, you wish to remove extra tracks from your merged clips and those extra tracks happen to be any track before the last one(s), you will find that editing the merged clip in in any other way than drag & dropping it in the sequence will result in you losing those last tracks instead of any tracks in the middle that you have disable through modify audio channels. I would think that the audio channel modifications should work no matter what way you cut the merged clip in.

Going to try, but here is my workflow and have not encountered any problems until this last P/U days footage.  I've been doing things this way because I found having all files in the project was causing it to crash constantly when I was working.  I have a new I7' processor IMac with 24 gigs of RAM.  And since Premiere does not allow you to have multiple projects open at the same time (Wish this would change.  Avid and FCP both allowed multiple projects) I have to do things this way.
    Pre-workflow Project File
Label all Video and Audio files to match Scene #'/Takes
Set in points on all video and audio to reflect slate
    Merge Clips
    Working Project File
Import only Merged Clips into Project.  Either via import or copy/paste
Now I've done this workflow from just about the very beginning.  Deleting all of the original source video and all audio clips from my working project so only my bins containing my merged clips remain.  Have had no problems and edit has been smooth.  Did a pickup day last week, followed same steps as I've done in the past, imported the merged clips into my working project and the clips have the audio set to none by default.  Now once I go into the sequence I can manually set it and it's there but I cannot play audio in the source monitor which is how I edit, there's no reason I should have to go back to the crappy FCP way of editing doing the copy and paste from a sequence.

  • Help with 2 buttons, 2 animations, and 2 audio clips

    Hey everyone,
I'm coming to Edge Animate from After Effects so bear with me here... I'm helping out on a DPS project for a friend and this has me stumped.
I have an Animate project with 2 animations, 2 audio clips and 2 buttons. Let's call them Animation1, Audio1, and Button1. Animation2, Audio2, and Button2. I want to have the composition load and wait for the user to click a button, the easy part. Now I want to have Animation1 play with Audio1 when the user clicks on Button1 but I don't want any of the other elements (Animation2 etc) to play or be visible. Then vice-versa when the user clicks Button2. I've been able to get the Button1 elements to work but then I can still see Button2's elements. The animations are sync'd to the audio files so they need to play in time with each other. I've searched tutorials on the web but I'm probably not looking for the right thing.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    resdesign,
The examples you sent got me up and going.
I added an action on each button so when the user clicks one the other gets hidden. But after the audio clip linked to the button pressed plays the hidden button remains hidden. Say I click on button1 and audio1 plays, at the end of the clip button2 is still hidden. I've tried a couple different ways to show both buttons again but with no luck. Any thoughts? I really appreciate your help BTW.

  • Audio clip issues

In testing my site, several people have had trouble opening it, it freezes, etc., one person said it appeared to be searching for something the computer didn't have. I'm guessing it has to do with audio clips I have on several pages. I've read through some previous posts on this, could someone give me the summary on what's the best solution for the Quicktime vs other audio players, etc issue. Bottom line is i really like having those audio clips in there; it would be one thing if some weren't able to listen to them, but if it's the cause for pages freezing and people not knowing how to correct it, that's obviously no good.
I'd appreciate any feedback. the site is www.5thingsonline.com
    thanks

As far as QT being a liability if the PCs don't have it installed they may not be inclined to install it so the audio will not be listened to.
You can add the audio to your page using flash players like the ones on this demo page: Audio Players. More players and examples of audio jukeboxes can be found at this page of Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site: Music Players. This way all platforms will be able to listen.
    Happy Holidays

Hello everyone, I am having a problem with PP not showing the R button in my audio clip mixer. I have my mic set up under the prefrences under audio hardware and the mic is showing a good signal under windows however when I import a clip to do a voice over I Only see the M, S and Keyframe button. Am I do doing something wrong? How to I get the R button to show up and activate?

    Hi Bigstick2012,
Have you tried the Audio Track Mixer? Choose Window > Audio Track Mixer.

  • Movie Clip Button - Action Script issues

This is a two part question:
    1. I have my movie clip button, "mcAboutus" then inside my
movie clip I have 5 layers: actions, labels, text, animated
    rollover("mcAboutusover"), animated rolloff("mcAboutusoff"). On the
labels layer I have _up, _over, _off. On the _up is the text layer,
on the _over is a movie clip of the animated
rollover("mcAboutusover") which is 90 frames, and I want to loop as
long as the mouse is over the text. And the _off has the
    "mcAboutusoff" movie clip.
So I was able to have the rollover work, but when I roll off
the rollover animation continues on until the end of the animation.
I understand it has to do with the fact that it's a movie clip, but
how do I point it to go into the movie clip and read the animation
and that on the last frame of the animation I have a
"gotoAndPlay(1);" to have the animation continue looping as long as
    it's in a rollover state?
here is the code I have for the _root:
    this.mcAboutus.onRollOver = function() {
    mcAboutus.gotoAndPlay(_over);
    this.mcAboutus.onRollOut = function() {
    mcAboutus.gotoAndPlay(_off);
The other problem I am having is that once the I have rolled
over the animation once, the button dies and won't let me rollover
    it again?
Aside from the "stop();" action in the mcAboutus movie clip
symbol, I don't have any other actions, should I put items in the
different movie clips I have set up?
ALSO.... The reason that I have the main movie clip button,
and two movie clips residing in the mcBtn is I wanted light rays to
be glowing from the text, and I was having a hard time getting what
I wanted from Flash, so I created in After Effects and exported two
.SWF files. So those .SWF files are the _over and _off states in
the mcBtn. I am having a very hard time controlling those Movie
Clips within the main MC Button. Please, any help would be greatly
    appreciated.

  • How to delete the transparent frames that Pluraleyes adds to replaced audio clips in an event ?

    Hi there,
I have a workflow issue working with Pluraleyes 3 and FCPX.
    MY CONTEXT
So I imported all my clips into FCPX (about 300 from camera 1, about 300 from camera 2 and separate audio which ran almost with only very few interruptions on set).
I synced everything with PE which gives me back the following :
    1. a new Event with replaced audio clips.
    2. a new Event with one giant multicam clip.
    3. a new project completely synced BUT with the non-replaced audio clips
    MY PROBLEMS
    1. Problem is that the clips have additional transparent frames before and after their actual video (i.e. PE makes new clips from video and longer bits of audio that do not begin/end at the same time).
    2. The giant multicam clip has plenty of chunks where audio was recorded but where no video was.
    MY QUESTIONS
PE has created plenty of useless clip lengths. How can I get rid of them with some batch process ?
OR if I say that another way
How can I create an EVENT that contains clips with the exact same length as the originals, only with the corresponding audio replaced ? (Please remind that I have LOTS of clips)
Moreover, the clips within the new events created by PE have (not surprisingly) lost all keywords I gave to the clips before syncing with PE. Is there any way to fix this ?
Thank you so much because it feels like PE's job is kinda useless  :-/

It's the Shift key. It's not a button. It's shifts from lower case to upper case when typing. It's been called the Shift key since the 19th century.

  • Audio scrubbing just moves audio clip

Hello; I'm a new iMovie user and I'm just finding my way around in the program. I have an old G4 with iMovie 4.01 and I can't seem to get the audio scrubbing to work. According to the Pogue book on iLife 04, "In iMovie 04, for the first time, you can scrub by Option-dragging your mouse back and forth across an audio clip. iMovie plays the sound under your cursor." [p. 361]
So far everything I've tried has just ended up moving the audio clip from side to side, Option key or not. What am I not doing right here?
    Thanks.

Bit unstable ..but Apple warns that it still is; "use at own risk", etc.
I wanted to see if current (version 6.0.3) iMovie HD, etc, works OK with the new system. So far, no problems.
Safari looks a little different - different typeface, and these buttons at the bottom of each post ("Did this topic solve your issue? Yes No") appear odd ..but maybe that's because it's still in the process of being tweaked and refined. There's a handy "make an Widget" button in Safari, letting me draw around, say, the topmost 10 posts on this page, and then I can call that back as a Widget overlay on top of anything else which is on the screen ..making it easy to pop in and out of Discussions..
Just downloaded a newer version yesterday, but have yet to install it (today).

  • Best way to merge/nest video and audio clips?

    Hi there,
I really need some advice as I am currently editing a video that has a lot of extra sound effects placed in different places and it pretty much makes the mass of the background sound that has been carefully paired to the clips that I have. My issue here is that I need to place in a voice over and make sure it syncs with the visuals also, but this has made me realise that I will need to loop some parts of the clip to make it work and I dont really want to need to move every single chunk of video clip and it's corresponding sound effect manually by highlighting and then pushing towards the right to make room as I may miss something and it will wipe off some areas that I have spent so long on.
Is there a way to 'nest' my current clips with my audio clips so I can safely organise this rather than dealing with about 50 layers of audio and clips whilst I move things about to work with the voice over? Please help any advice would be very appreciated!
    Thanks

Find the sequence you are working on in the Project Panel, drag and drop it on the "New Item" button to create another sequence. Now you have a nested sequence that you can treat as a single clip.

A small update to this issue....
I have been trawling the forums to find an answer but to no avail...
And... I've tried exporting and bouncing individual stems and the full session, either by muting all bar the stem or soloing the stem.....and still nothing.
Same problems.....everything is audible in audition but nothing plays on playback.
Since the 'prelisten' channel strip is Solo safe this would indicate that you have a track or channel strip soloed somewhere else, out of sight. Are the Mute buttons on your channel strips blinking?
To view all objects in your mixer, click the button. You may have to scroll sideways to check the whole mixer.

  • Can't Move Audio Clip

I need to shift and audio clip and I can't move it. There is a gray line a the top of the clip that does not appear on other clips, but I don't know what this means. I can shorten or lengthen the clip, but I can't move it. At the far right top is a button that indicates that I can speed up or slow down the clip and this button doesn't appear on the other clips. Occasionally a box pops up to let me say if this is a custom or a present and it currently is custom at 100 percent. The clip is highlighted in yellow, which would seem to indicate I can move it, but I can't. I'd appreciate help on how to fix this.
    Thanks.

hmmm... It seems to be a new big problem, I'm having the same issue...
    But with iMovie HD 6
I'm using Mavericks and I import a movie file into iMovie HD, then an audio file (I've tried mp3 and aiff) and both play, video and audio. Then I have to edit the audio file to sync with the video, and then is when iMovie HD freezes.
I've deleted the preferences (now iMovie opens only the menu, but the project doesn't appear at all, only that colourful loading icon forever ) I've repaired the permissions   restarted every single time and still nothing...
IS THERE ANYONE TO help us out, please?

  • Control surface toggle audio clip mixer

Thought I'd post this as it took me some time to work out it was possible.
External control surfaces now work with the Audio Track Mixer, but I couldn't find a way (or any info) on how to make it work with the new Audio Clip Mixer. Eventually I found 'Toggle Control Surface Mixer Mode' in the keyboard shortcuts and now everything is working well in both modes.
This works for mute, solo and level in the Clip Mixer. I've not yet attempted any automation, I can't see a way to turn on the 'record keyframes' other than manually one track at a time. Still, progress to this point is very welcome.

The Mackie device has some quirks, and while basic functionality is there, PPro does not have as strong support with mackie as it does with eucon through the avid artist series.  The physical MCU keys switched between different versions of the device and what is undo on one is a different function on another, so sadly, depending on what model you get, those buttons may or may not be correct by the label that is on the device.  There is no way for us to tell which one you have.
Clip mixer mode can be enabled either through the fly out menu in the clip mixer or by assigning a keyboard shortcut.  When engaged, it supports the faders, pan/balance/mute and solo.  If automation is engaged it will record automation, though you can't engage clip mixer automation via the control surface like you can on the track mixer.
Unfortunately there is no way to group channels at this time, aside from making a submix, but I do not think this is what you were requesting.
There is not a way to manually enter a keyframe via a button on the control surface.
It is possible to customize some of the control surface buttons by hitting the button assignments button in the Mackie control surface window.  This is mostly limited to the function keys and a few others
The touch and latch mode lights is a known bug.
If you want more customization, the Avid Artist series has much better support in this regard.  We set up many soft keys, but you can also create your own very easily.
I will take a look at the other issues you have raised as they sound like bugs, but I also encourage you to file them through here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform as it will help us to gauge how many are using the mackie protocol vs eucon.
    Thanks

  • Exact placing of audio clips?

Whenever I copy an audio clip (or portion thereof) from another project and attempt to paste it into a new project the clip seems to land wherever it chooses, usually underneath and existing track. It would be nice if it would paste just to the right of the playhead but that only happens when importing directly from iTunes and using the "Place at Playhead" button. Does anyone know how to precisely cut and paste and audio selection? Or is there even a way? The help file is worthless.

    Hi catspaw,
The most annoying issue for me is that locked audio often does not stay locked, although the pins still exist (but separated). This generally happens when substantial clips are added before the locked audio section. It pays to thoroughly check through the movie before finalising it.
I've also noticed that behaviour with iMovie HD 6 (and some earlier versions). The annoying part is it is not always consistent - you are never sure if the audio has become separated from the clip it was pinned to. However, it doesn't bother me much now as most of my recent work has been done using iMovie '09. The more I use and become familiar with '09, the more I like it. I still miss the "rubber banding" audio feature in HD 6 though - although there are easy workarounds in '09.
PS I also miss all my great Gee Three Slick plug-ins!
