MSProject ODBC calls to Oracle 8i

I use MSProject to connect to Oracle via ODBC.
There are two calls that are provided to save and retrieve projects:

When run against Oracle 7.3 all is well. Whan run against Oracle 8i I get the following error:
[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-01026:multiple buffers of size>4000 in the bind list
Are there settings in 8i to accomodate this error? Unfortunately I cannot alter the two commands from MSProject. I am using the current ODBC driver for MSProject (2.573.5303.00).
Because of the MSProject calls I was told that I must use the Microsoft ODBC driver. I tried the Oracle ODBC drivers (2.00.03.01 for 7.3 and 8.00.05.00 for 8i) but they do not work for the two MSProject calls.

I believe Oracle7 was the last release that included a 16-bit ODBC driver. Oracle7 was desupported, IIRC, Dec 31, 2000. It may be possible to connect to an 8i database from an Oracle7 client using the 16-bit ODBC driver, but this isn't a supported configuration.

When we were running in 10G, I was able to successfully configure hsodbc using unixODBC and freeTDS to allow for an ODBC connection between Oracle and MSSQL Server.

I modified the envs LD_LIBRARY_PATH parameter in my SID_LIST_LISTENERODBC to be:

and bounced the listener, but I'm still getting the same error.
I do not have a lib64 directory in my Freetds installation, but all the files in the lib directory are 64-bit.

How to execute STP with Named type table as parameter through ODBC calls.

I am using Oracle 10g release 2. I am having a Stored function which takes Named Type Table as its parameter.
For example
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tblName is table of someUDT.
CREATE OR REPLACE function nestfunction(t tblName)
return NUMBER

end;
Now, I want to call this Stored function nestfunction through ODBC calls. Also want to add multiple rows in tblName parameter.
But am unable to perform the above mentioned task. If you have answers please, reply.

Thanks for the reply. I got the solution by configuring a NonXA data source. The problem was with internal commits of the fnd_global.initialize api.
If the DB adapter is calling aPL/SQL procedure (written inside a pakcage) using the data source configured to support XA, will expect not to have any commits in side the procedure or anywhere, the XA driver will take of the commits and whole transactions. By default the FND_GLOBAL.INITIALIZE(...) procedure will have the internal commits, so it was throwing the errors.
The solution was configuring the a NonXA Data source in the databae adapter configuration will allow the commits inside the callings procedures. So we created Two data sources one for XA and another for NonXA and we are using the NonXA datasource whereever we are calling the EBS APIs which have the internal commits.

Issue using ODBC CALL

I'm calling a oracle stored procedure using ODBC Call method
{call testSP(?)}"&params
The parameter read from the SP is VARCHAR2. On this call, the 2001th character gets replaced by chr(0). The same SP called with Begin, End block does not reproduce the error. Can someone please point me to a document which explains this? please feel free to ask any questions to clarify the issue

ODBC call fails under userwith no admin rights

I installed the Oracle 9i client, like I always do, while logged in with admin rights. I install the basic client, and the ODBC driver, version 9, I believe.
When the user logs on and tries to setup a link to some oracle odbc tables she gets the following error:
ODBC - call failed
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5(Oracle in ORaHome92). (#160)
Unless I am installing a different ODBC driver on other people's machiens, this is the way I have done it for all of the users in my building, and they don't seem to have a problem. And some of them do not have admin rights on their box

let me add that the DSN is listed as a system DSN. And it is version 9.0.1 as the ODBC driver.

How to call an Oracle Procedure and get a return value in Php

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone tried calling an Oracle procedure from Php using the ora functions and getting the return value ? I need to use the ora funtions (no oci)because of compatibility and oracle 7.x as the database.
The reason why I post this here is because the ora_exec funtion is returning FALSE but the error code displayes is good. Is this a bug in the ora_exec funtion ?

The Oracle procedure has a select count from a table and it returns the number of records in that table. It's defined as:

Nothing much there. I want to do an insert into a table,
from the procedure later, but I figured that I start with a select count since it's simpler.
When I ran the Php code, I get the following:

retcode=`echo $?`is a bit convoluted. Just use:
retcode=$?I see no EOF line terminating your input. Your flavour of Unix might not like that - it might ignore the command, though I'd be surprised (AIX doesn't).
replace the EXEC line with :
select 'hello' from dual;
and see if you get some output - then you know if sqlplus commands are being called from your script. You didn't mentioned whether you see the banner for sqlplus. Copy/paste the output that you get, it will give us much more of an idea.

Now initially i installed a 64 bit ODBC for Oracle . But when i did that and ran the Script below :

64 bit apps need 64 bit Oracle client software.
32 bit apps need 32 bit Oracle client software.
You should be able to tell the bit-ness of the app by checking the Process tab in task manager to see if it has *32 next to it.
You can install both 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle client software on the same box, but you need to do it into different homes, and different oracle_base should also be used.
There isnt an Oracle client install bundle that installs both, you'll need to do each separately.

ODBC problems with Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows 2000

I have got a problem when i configure ODBC on Windows 2000.
When I test the driver with ODBC test driver, the programs doesn't respond when i use Oracle ODBC Driver first but responds when I use Microsoft Driver For Oracle first and then Oracle ODBC Driver.
Then I have a system 5 error when I use ODBC with ASP.
Is it Oracle 8.1.5 which is not compatible with Windows 2000 or a problem in Windows 2000 configuration ?

I think I was having the same problem; programs attempting to connect w/ODBC (including ODBCTest) would hang. After downloading and installing a newer ODBC driver from oracle (for me 8.1.5.5 worked), I was able to connect. Hope this helps!

ODBC connection to Oracle 7 will not reset

We are using Oracle JDBC drivers for all but one of our
datasources which is an old Oracle 7 database. The ODBC connection
to this database will not reset when the database is bounced or the
database server is rebooted. We have to restart the ODBC service to
reset the connection. Is there another way to do this automatically
or perhaps another driver out there we can use? We are running
ColdFusion MX 6.1 Enterprise.

Wow, I can't believe that you are still using Oracle 7. In
fact, unless you are on 7.3.4 you aren’t even Y2K compliant.
Of course, I'm not even sure if there is an upgrade path from 7.x
to 10g, but I would consider migrating off of 7 to anything else.
Otherwise, you are going to have more and more compatibility
problems. In fact, you can no longer even get ODBC drivers from
Oracle for versions older than 9i.

Call to Oracle stored procedure that returns ref cursor doesn't work

I'm trying to use an OData service operation with Entity Framework to call an Oracle stored procedure that takes an number as an input parameter and returns a ref cursor. The client is javascript so I'm using the rest console to test my endpoints. I have been able to successful call a regular Oracle stored procedure that takes a number parameter but doesn't return anything so I think I have the different component interactions correct. When I try calling the proc that has an ref cursor for the output I get the following an error "Invalid number or type of parameters". Here are my specifics:

I defined a function import for the stored procedure using the directions I found online by creating a new complex type. I don't know if I should be defining the input parameter, WindfarmId, in my app.config? If I should what would that format look like? I also don't know if I'm invoking the stored procedure correctly in my service operation? I'm testing everything through the rest console because the client consuming this information is written in javascript and expecting a json format. Any help is appreciated!

Making the change you suggested still resulted in the same Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException {"ORA-06550: line 1, column 8:\nPLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'GETWORKORDERSBYWINDFARMID'\nORA-06550: line 1, column 8:\nPL/SQL: Statement ignored"} System.Exception {Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException}
I keep thinking it has to do with my oracle.dataaccess.client settings in App.Config because I don't actually put the WindfarmId and an input parameter. I tried a few different ways to do this but can't find the correct format.

While calling From Oracle Forms 11g patch set 2(11.1.1.3.0) to Oracle Reports 11g patch set 2(11.1.1.3.0) I found unable to run report error
But its finely working in 10g. The Place of error is in find_report_object
Is any solution to resolve this problem like any registry setting or patches to solve this problem

While running DS job through designer we are getting below error:
ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <SErver name> failed: <[>. Notify Customer Support.
Additional notes:
1. Source and Target datastore are getting connected properly as i have imported table's definition using it.
2. Source and target data store pointing to SQL server 2008 R2 express edition DB (64 bit).
3. It seems like server machine has both 32bit and 64bit drivers installed on it. Please refer attached driverdetails.jpg file for more details.

Can't Create the ODBC connection for Oracle 10g

I am working with Oracle 10g Database Release 2 in windows XP professional. I am trying to create an ODBC connection for oracle but become failure because its generating the following errors:
system error code 998
could not locate the setup or translator library
Please help me how can I solve this problem and create the ODBC connection for oracle 10g database.

The odbc driver config routine will search directories listed in PATH variable for necessary libraries (Client dll's). If some library fails to load (from e.g. oraoci*.dll or oraclient10.dll) it will probably error out, as in your case.
Are you creating the odbc dsn on the databse server host or on some other machine? I.e. are you using the db host as a client or not?
