Muine 0.8.2

Here you go.  I based it off the old pkgbuild, so it should work ok.  You'll need to get gtk-sharp-2 and mono 1.1 from testing....

  • How to run muine? [fixed]

Contrasutra has recompiled the package and it should be fine soon.. thanks!
hey all, I've done pacman -S muine , now I run muine from the command line and get:
    Unhandled Exception: System.DllNotFoundException: libmuine
    in <0x00053> (wrapper managed-to-native) GettextCatalog:intl_init (string)
    in <0x00015> GettextCatalog:.ctor (string)

how is this mono stuff supposed to work anyway?
    thanks,
    Patrix

johnisevil wrote:I'm getting this same problem.  What did you do to fix it?
you must have the complete mono suite from testing, the extar stuff is not working for muine!

  • Muine: no sound output, segfaults

When I try to play anything with Muine, it prdouces no sound output, then segfaults and crashes:
    /opt/gnome/bin/muine: line 3: 5287 Segmentation fault /opt/mono/bin/mono /opt/gnome/lib/muine/muine.exe "$@"
Do I need to emerge something else, or is this a known bug?

Muine requires the DEVEL versions of Mono/GTK#. These packages are currently in TESTING, so I can not rebuild Muine against them.
When they make their way into EXTRA, I can rebuild.
The best solution would be for a dev to put Muine into TESTING as well, so it always stays on the same track.

  • Muine should use xine-lib (and a tray icon)

The tray icon is built by default, but not installed.
And please build muine with the xine-lib backend.
gStreamer is nice, but too slow (the gap between tracks is too long), uses too much cpu power and gives awful pops when starting/stopping/pauzing
    here's my pkgbuild:

true but they'd have to be synced with the 'official' version all of the time ... well, ideally

I have itunes folder on Sony Vaio that is seriously unwell. I can start up in safe mode but that's all.  It has home sharing enabled.I need to transfer the library onto this new computer before it completely gives up the ghost.I have i cloud but want the main folder transferred to this computer. I have part of my i tunes folder on 2 back up drives.
    Can anyone help please

If the computer only starts in safte mode, it is highly unlikely that network functionality works.
Copy or move the ENTIRE iTunes folder (and any other personal data you want) to an external drive.

       1. srcpac to support source building: Imagine if you could use pacman
to install binary packages as well as build those same packages
from source (with your own optimizations). Not only that, but
upgrades remembered which packages were precompiled and which were
          compiled on the spot.
Now, imagine that pacman didn't actually handle it, because the
hard-core KISS people would complain too much and you wouldn't be
able to think while you watch gcc output fly by. Imagine instead a
wrapper around pacman that handled it for you.
Enter srcpac. Lights brighten, music comes to a peak, close up!
srcpac acts exactly the same as pacman (well, it should anyway),
except you get this little extra flag -b (or -build) tacked on to
-S (-sync) to build from source instead of install from a binary
          package.
          Let's see an example:
srcpac -Sb w3m will compile w3m, install it, and remember that it
          was compiled
srcpac -Sybu will upgrade all the packages that need upgrading by
building them and remember that they were compiled (be careful
with this one, it will include packages that weren't previously
          compiled).
srcpac -Syu will upgrade all binary packages by installing
binaries and upgrade all source packages by compiling from source.
srcpac -Qi w3m adds an extra line too, "Source", with a simple yes
          or no.
You can install srcpac with pacman -S srcpac. From then on you
want to use srcpac instead of pacman.
I've also added the support for package configs. Have a look at
          the example /etc/srcpac.conf entry.
The released version also adds the -o option to -S. This will
apply config changes and less the PKGBUILDs without doing any
          building.
BEWARE: the -r option isn't fully implemented and may install to /
in some cases, I'm pretty sure I don't ever write to / when -r is
specified, but I can't be sure.

       1. There's a new glibc in the Testing repository, version 2.3.3
(pulled from gnu's CVS). It includes the Native POSIX Thread
Library (NPTL), as well as the kernel headers from 2.6.
This means that people running a 2.4.x kernel cannot use this
glibc, or else they'll face the dreaded ``FATAL: Kernel too old''
          message after upgrading.
If you'd like to use the testing repository, it is here:
    [testing]
          Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/testing
          http://archlinux.org/news.php#73
       2. Hi Archers!
There is a nasty bug in the current version of the daemontools
(0.76-1) package. The bug will be triggered if you remove or
upgrade the daemontools package. If triggered, your /etc/inittab
file may be emptied and you could essentially be booted off your
machine, forcing you to reboot with a rescue CD and manually
          restore your /etc/inittab.
The latest release (0.76-2), will fix this bug, but by upgrading,
you run the risk of triggering the bug. To protect yourself, make
a copy of your /etc/inittab file, temporarily rename
/sbin/telinit, do the deamontools upgrade, restore /sbin/telinit
and verify that your /etc/inittab file is intact. The shell
commands below can be used to perform this procedure.
          # 1) make a backup of your /etc/inittab file cp /etc/inittab
          /etc/inittab.bak
          # 2) ignore any 'telinit: command not found' errors mv
/sbin/telinit /sbin/telinit.off pacman -Sy daemontools mv
          /sbin/telinit.off /sbin/telinit
          # 3) restore your /etc/inittab if it got emptied during the
upgrade. # you might be better off doing a visual inspection of
/etc/inittab # just to be safe.
        if [ ! -s /etc/inittab ]; then cp /etc/inittab.bak /etc/inittab; fi
          # 4) if all has gone well, inform init of the new service
          /sbin/telinit q
If you currently have daemontools installed, and just want to
remove it without doing the upgrade, use the shell commands above
except replace 'pacman -Sy deamontools' with 'pacman -R
          daemontools' in step number two.

      Problems
        FAQ
Q: Where can I get the kernel source? Is there an Arch Package?
A: Arch uses the vanilla kernel source. That means that you can go to
http://kernel.org and download the full kernel source (and place it in
/usr/src/linux or a directory that's symlinked there). There is no
package, because the developers feel there's no need to add another
mirror of the kernel source. The official homepage has 10x more
    bandwidth than we do. ;-)

    Arch Linux Weekly Newsletter
    *Jason Chu and Ben Mazer*
      Opening
Welcome to the Arch Linux Newsletter. This attempts to give you an ``at
a glance'' look at the world of Arch Linux.
      News
       1. New GCC, Perl
We've released gcc 3.4.0 to the current repository. It includes
the old version of libstdc++ for compatibility.
The new version of perl has been rebuilt with thread support. This
changes some perl module paths, so modules may need to be rebuilt.
Use the bugtracker if you notice problems.
          http://archlinux.org/news.php#67
       2. Pacman 2.7.8 Released
The latest and greatest version of pacman has quite a few little
changes. See the ChangeLog for details.
Notably, an %o parameter has been added to the XferCommand
directive, which lets you use the -O option of wget to write to
          filename.part, allowing proper file resumes.
          Example: XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget -passive-ftp -c -O %o %u
Or if you want wget to shut up a bit, add -nv: XferCommand =
          /usr/bin/wget -passive-ftp -c -nv -O %o %u
          http://archlinux.org/news.php#68
        This Week in Dev Land
       1. We've started looking for names for the 0.7 release. There have
been a couple of suggestions but nothing firm yet.
       2. There has been much discussion about incoming and what to do with
it. Also about Arch and how we can better do things.
       3. As it stands, x.org and xfree86 will continue to co-exist in our
repos. Only one will be in current at a time though, right now
it's xfree86, it may be x.org later (in that case, we'll move
          xfree86 to extra).
       4. We're in the process of moving all config files out of /usr/etc.
Be aware that your custom changes will probably be saved. By the
end, there will be no packages that store files in /usr/etc.
       5. A little discussion has started surrounding not up-to-date systems
that have problems. It's looking like, if you don't run an
up-to-date system, you are forgoing some of our support.
Especially if they are fundamental packages.
       6. Dusty has joined us as a documenter. He will be helping with the
Handbook (more on that later) other official documentation.

      Discussions
        Forum Highlights
       1. Gaspojo has created an Archlinux wallpaper. It features a
crystal-like Tux and is very nice. Get the wallpaper in this
          thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4255.
       2. Well, I've started another mess on the boards. This time I
suggested a way to improve Arch's package management system. In a
nutshell, I felt that Arch developers should only maintain a small
subset of ``popular'' packages rather then ``as much as we can''.
We would use a voting system for deciding which packages should be
maintained. This is similar to Crux's system. Participate in the
          ongoing debate here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4300.
        Mailing List
       1. Essien Ita Essien announced that he is starting an embedded
ArchLinux project. It's still in early development, but you can
          participate here: http://datavibe.net/~essiene/ale/. Read the
          thread here:
          http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 01400.html.
          TUR Mailing List
The debate over INCOMING has been raging for quite a while now, and it
seems like TUR activity has slowed down in anticipation for the ``big
change''. Nothing has been finalized, because discussion has now been
started on the direction Arch (as a distro) wants to go in.
      Packages
        Package Highlights
       1. GTK 2.4.1 was released this week. This is a bug fix release. Read
          the announcement here:
          http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-list … 00222.html.
       2. pacman 2.7.9 was released, even though it didn't make front page
          news. There's one new feature:
    - added the ``force'' option to packages, so --sysupgrade can downgrade packages when it needs to.
This feature is important, due to problems with Freetype2.

      Opening
Welcome to the Arch Linux Newsletter. This attempts to give you an ``at
a glance'' look at the world of Arch Linux.
      News
        This Week in Dev Land
       1. Dale has received a script to let firebird and thunderbird play
nice. He's looking at adding them now.
       2. Arjan is busy right now. Everyone else is trying to pick up his
          slack.
       3. Functional specifications are nearly complete for the new AUR system.

      Discussions
        Forum Highlights
       1. Benedict_White has been working on porting Webmin to Arch. Check
on his progress in this thread:
          http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=5042.
       2. DP has solved the GL.la problem that has plagued many users. He
has provided a simple file to install on your system to replace
the missing library. Read the thread here:
          http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=5124.
        Mailing List Highlights
       1. The debate was raised again about packaging quality. Jlowell
criticized the developers, stating that there have been too many
broken packages. More of the same points were raised, including
having the developers focus more on developing the base, and less
on the packaging. Read the whole thread here:
          http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 01625.html.
       2. I semi-seriously asked about the possibility of bittorrent
integration with pacman. It would save the developers bandwidth
and give the users a way to contribute. There would be many
technical issues with a bittorrent system. Read the thread here:
          http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 01670.html.
       3. tsykoduk asked about adding changelogs to the packages or
PKGBUILDs. It was decided that the CVS changelogs were sufficient.
          Read the thread here:
          http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … 01647.html.

        Package Highlights
       1. KDE 3.2.3 was packaged this week. This should fix most of the

      Problems
        FAQ
Q: I'm trying to compile something (in C++), but I'm getting random errors.
A: Arch is using GCC 3.4.0. GCC 3.4 is much stricter when it comes to
C++ code. It will break on many more errors than GCC 3.3. You should
email the developers of the broken application, or check their
CVS/mailing list to see if they have provided patches.

We're thinking about changing the format of the newsletter. Now that
Arch has an official HTML/CSS standard for documentation, it seems
appropriate to move the newsletter to that standard. We can convert the
newsletter to plain TXT for email, though it may lose some formatting.
How do you read the newsletter? If many people read it over email, we
will continue to provide email ``delivery'' along with HTML, but if most
people read it over the web, we will cut the email delivery. Please give
us your feedback. What is the most convenient format for the newsletter?
That's it for this week, stay tuned for more exciting Arch Linux news.

      Opening
Welcome to the Arch Linux Newsletter. This attempts to give you an ``at
a glance'' look at the world of Arch Linux.
      News
       1. As the title says, gnome 2.6 is in the house. There isn't much to
watch out for, Arjan and JGC did a good job catching conflicts in
the testing stage so the install should go flawlessly.
          To upgrade: pacman -Syu
          To install: pacman -Sy gnome
Some GTK2.x related packages were also upgraded to suit the
          requirements of gnome 2.6.

        This Week in Dev Land
       1. There was a brief discussion about makedepends: which ones should
be considered for inclusion. The consensus was that things that
makepkg does (like uncompressing, especially with unzip) and base
packages do not need to be part of makedepends. Anything that's
needed by the build function, that are not in base, should be a
          makedepends.
       2. Tobias is back, with a hurt arm (but he can still type!), and
          Aurelien is on vacation now.
       3. I have split wlan-ng into wlan-ng24 and wlan-ng26. They will both
stay up to date as new kernels come out.

      Packages
        Package Highlights
       1. As the news post said, GNOME 2.6 is out. There are a few errors
when updating. It seems that the safest way to update is to remove
GNOME (pacman -R gnome), install gconf (pacman -S gconf), then to
install the rest of gnome (pacman -S gnome).
       2. Pacman 2.7.6 is out, wtih a few bugfixes. From the changelog:
             1. added -print-uris option
             2. fixed an http download bug (bug #667)
             3. fixed a segfault related to replaces/conflicts handling

      Arch Linux Weekly Newsletter
    *Jason Chu and Ben Mazer*
      Opening
Welcome to the Arch Linux Newsletter. This attempts to give you an ``at
a glance'' look at the world of Arch Linux.
      News
        This Week in Dev Land
       1. Discussion rages on about Arch's goals and the eventual changes to
          take place.
       2. On that note, a document has been drafted relating to the eventual
          changes in package submission.
       3. Dusty and Dennis are laying out their plans for documentation,
          though still plowing ahead.
       4. A new fortran compiler has been added to extra. Rather than having
to use a modified gcc, all fortran dependent packages can use f2c.

        Forum Highlights
       1. JGC has made a repository for Ximian OpenOffice. Since the latest
version of vanilla open office is having trouble with GCC 3.4,
this is an alternative. Read the thread here:
          http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4460.
       2. gaspojo has made more Archlinux wallpapers. All of them are

          TUR Mailing List
I spent a little bit of time cleaning up STAGING, but there's still lots
of work to be done. Hopefully the TURs will spend a bit of time to
update packages. Damir has also been doing a great job in testing
packages. Lots of programs have gone into Extra recently.

      Problems
        FAQ
Q: Im installing packages from -Current, but they're not working
A: If you want to install packages from -Current (e.g. not from the
release CD), then you MUST be pacman -Syu often. This keeps your system
up to date. Arch always uses the latest libraries/compilers, and
frequently there are binary incompatibilities with the Release ISO. If
things aren't working, always try a sys update, because fixed/updated
    packages are probably already out.

  • Message d'erreur Windows 7 - LabWindows 2012

    Bonjour

  • MP3=Crash

Whenever I try to play an audio file (mp3, wav, ogg, etc), my computer crashes.  the entire thing locks up and makes me feel like im using windows (minus the blue screen).  it happens no matter what program i use to listen to 'em.....rhythmbox, mplayer, muine, mpg123, you name it, it doesnt work.  it also crashes when i try to plat games with sound, mainly ut2004.  it also crashes 50% of the time when i watch movies...dvd's, avi's, etc....i tried reinstalling mplayer and rhythmbox and gstreamer.  my roommate suggested i run 'gst-register-0.8' to load all the plugins an such....that worked up until i tried to watch a dvd, then after rebooting, it still didnt work.  this is very annoying because what good is a computer if you cant listen to music, watch movies, and play games? :x
It worked perfectly before i broke my install and had to reinstall arch.  ive also had no problems with suse, mandrake, fedora, knoppix, and ubuntu.
    does anyone have any suggestions?
im running arch .7, kernel 2.6.10, CMedia sound card, alsa 1.0.8-1, gnome 2.8
if you need more information, feel free to ask

i uninstalled the alsa that i pacmaned, then recompiled alsa using ./configure --with-card=cmipci (i think thats the command)....after that was done, i rebooted (just to be sure everything reloaded), it worked up until i did a pacman -Syu....then it locked up....im running alsa 1.0.8
penguin, i got flac 1.1.1....altho, im not entirely sure how flac would affect my computer.....do mp3 players use it or something?  as you can tell, im not very experienced with flac....
hope that helps......right now, i have my walkman hooked up to my speakers so i can have some music.....the UT withdrawl is starting to set in....

    Arch Linux Weekly Newsletter
    *Jason Chu and Ben Mazer*
      Opening
Welcome to the Arch Linux Newsletter. This attempts to give you an ``at
a glance'' look at the world of Arch Linux.
      News
        This Week in Dev Land
       1. Lou (cmf) has joined us to maintain kde. Everyone say, "Hi, Lou"
       2. Dusty has written a document to direct annoying complainers at and
will probably be using it in the coming days.
          http://dragon.archlinux.org/~dusty/devland.html
       3. The Arch Linux Documentation guideline is done. Feel free to take
          a look: http://archlinux.veloxis.de/docguide/docguide.html
       4. Soon the apr package will be back so that subversion can be run as
a client without needing apache. There will be a news item when
          this happens.
       5. Google ad income isn't enough to pay for two servers, so we've
moved ftp back to archlinux.org and are cancelling our ftp server,
smithers. This means that there will be no delay between package
updates on the website and available packages. We are also
considering capping the bandwidth on ftp.archlinux.org again to
          promote the use of mirrors.
       6. There is a general consensus that 0.7 will be named wombat.
Nothing official has been announced yet though.
       7. smithers had a little problem with hanging, so ftp was moved over
to dragon. Now dragon is having a little problem too. Judd will be
back on tuesday and hopefully will look at it then.

      Discussions
        Forum Highlights
       1. Lanrat posted a PKGBUILD for a popular program, skippy. It's a
full screen X pager, similar to Apple's Expose. Grab the files in
          this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4636.
       2. Another Arch user, standsolid, has attempted to create a GUI to
pacman. You can read about his efforts in this thread:
          http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4706.
        TUR Mailing List
The TURs were down along with the rest of the Arch FTP, so not much
    activity took place.
      Packages
        Package Highlights
       1. Subversion 1.0.4 was released this week. It's a bug and security
fix update, with some major corrections. All users should update.
Read the news on the project's homepage here:
          http://subversion.tigris.org/.
       2. A new version of GlibC was put into TESTING this week. This is a
snapshot of the new code, and it contains enhancements like NPTL.
This is a dangerous update, and it needs lots of testers.

      Problems
        FAQ
Q: How can I help ArchLinux?
A: Arch is a completely volunteer project, so it can greatly use your
help. You could build packages, help the devs in some of their
sub-projects (such as creating a Menu system), or submit bug reports and
    flag packages.
Another way to help is financially. Simply donating some money for
server costs will go a long way.
