Choose Edit > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click General.
Does this setting have a checkmark?
"Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library."
If so, then every time you added that song to your library, it made another copy.
To fix it, take a close look at how those duplicates are named. Usually they are in this format
song.mp3
song[1].mp3
song[2].mp3
If so, use Windows explorer and search for files with [1], [2] in the name and delete them.

  • How do I go about deleting mulitple song files all at one time as opposed to deleting them all individually off of the latest version of iTunes

How do I go about deleting mulitple song files all at one time as opposed to deleting them all individually off of the latest version of iTunes?
Also I have tried authorizing my computer to play the songs I purchased off of iTunes when I had an iPhone 4 and it will not allow me to play them whatsoever. I now have an iPhone 5 and wish to load these past song purchases onto my new phone. How do I solve this issue?

what you're missing to export multiple files is the batch export command available in the file menu or by control clicking on the items in the browser.  You can export multiple sequences/clips at full resolution with this.
This has been available in fcp for a long long time.
Wow, you are right.  Now that you mention it, I can't believe I never noticed that.  Thanks.
Only if you have the 'Self-Contained' box checked.  Otherwise you'll end up with a reference movie.
Correct.  That box is typically checked by default.  There are other default settings you could change that would not result in a full-quality version, but what I meant was hitting that option from the pull-down menu, then changing nothing and hitting ok.

  • Itunes 10.6.1/Iphone 4s

    Hey all,
I got the new iPhone 4S a couple of days ago and I have been having a few issues with iTunes.
My problem is, I had previously an older version installed and obviously as this doesn't support the new iPhone, iTunes gave me the option to download the newest edition(10.6.1.7) which I downloaded and installed with no issues. However, whenever I attempt to play a song, the slider doesnt move from the 0.00 position and there is no sound, I have tried with mulitple songs/videos/movies, and its still the same, the previews in the iTunes store do not work also.
I've restarted iTunes/computer, shut the computer down completely to no avail
I've looked on the support website and I keep getting told to download new driver software, but this was for problems with iTunes 7. I don't really understand what to do if this is the case.
Im using a Toshiba laptop(im not sure of the model) and Windows Vista.
Any help would be very appreciated, I just want to listen to my library again!
    KirstyGates.

On iTunes, under preferences, I go to the sharing tab and click share my library on my local network.
We don't actually have to do that for Home Sharing ... that's for the older "Music Sharing" system. For some discussion of the distinction between the two, see the following document:
iTunes: How to share music and video
Is there another computer on your network that you want to home share with? If so, is iTunes currently running on that computer?

  • ITunes wont sync after first sync from start up....

I'm having troubles with my iPod 80 gig
First off, I can sync the ipod if I add the new song, movies, etc. then restart the computer. Upon restart, it will open itunes, sync it, and then idle. After this, I cannot sync it again w/o doing the above processes.
Secondly, the ipod or itunes is not fully syncing my library. It won't sync mulitple songs from the same artist if there is only one album listed. It will only sync the one song that has the album listed. For example...
    1) Alice Cooper - Steven (song) - Welcome to my nightmare (album) (successfully added to iPod)
Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen (song) - No album listed - (Was not added to iPod)
But, if the artist has multiple albums listed in the library, it will add all the songs, even ones that have no album listed.
I hope this is clear, its hard to explain but annoying to deal with.

    Windows XP
      Windows XP

I recently reinstalled and I had a few errors when it installed. It asked me to put in the CD labeled 1. When I did, said it couldn't find it but kept installing anyway.
    that might be our culprit.
i just went searching at Microsoft, but couldn't find anything relevant to that sort of message. (no guarantee that there isn't anything there ... i might just have been looking in the wrong places.)
so it might be worth heading to your PC manufacturer's website to see if they have any specific troubleshooting advice on installing XP Media Center on your particular make and model of PC.

  • Add File to library option

With Cds I've burned on to my computer before putting into itunes, usually I use the option to add file to library and select all the songs in a music folder to import them on my ipod, but now it won't let me import mulitple songs at once onto itunes, is there a way to fix that?
Also is there a way to override music info for band name? For example, any band that technically starts with 'The' (i.e. The Killers) gets listed onto itunes and my ipod under the first letter of the second word (I.e. K for killers) and it doesn't look right since it doesn't look alphabetized, can I fix this or stuck with it?
      Windows XP

If you want to add multiple songs at once use the add folder option instead of add file.
I think you are stuck with the sorting order thing.

  • How to play keynote presentation after voiceover narration?

    Hey all!
I am in desperate need of help... I have a big Keynote presentation (85 slides) and I am doing voice over narration on maybe half of them. I started on the first slide (which is slide 2 of the presentation) and wanted to view and see if it was to my liking but when you press play, it starts the slideshow with the first recorded slide. I changed the viewing option in inspector to normal but it doesn't included the recorded slide... Arrrggg!
Also, I am planning on putting music on it but since I have mulitple songs, I'll have to export the presentation to iMovie. Is it the best way not to lose resolution? Or will it compress the file too much? Should I record it with ScreenFlow instead and then add the music in iMovie? Or I guess I could do it in screen flow too...
I have about 7 hours to finish this so any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

When you do a voiceover, you can only do so of the entire presentation, not just an individual slide.  If you only need voiceover for individual slides, I would suggest to record your voice outside Keynote using Quicktime or Garageband, then import the sound file into the appropriate slide.
As for the music, you don't have to import the presentation into Garageband, but instead splice the music together you want to use in Garageband, export the file to your disk, and place the file into the presentation's soundtrack.

Can I authorize mulitple apple ids on the same device so that what is purchased on either account will be loaded in both devices without having to use the same ID?
My wife has a laptop and an iphone 4s, I have a laptop and and iphone 4s, our two sons have our old iphone 3s, we have an old laptop for our sons to use.  Our old iphones for our sons are deactivated as phones - so they are used as i-touches for songs, pictures and aps.  I want to use icloud (which I'm new to) to hopefully have all four iphones and all three computers stay synced with at least music - if not aps and pictures.  My wife has an apple ID and I have one.  I'd like to authorize all three laptops for both apple IDs so that we will still have our own accounts, but everything either of us buys will be automatically loaded into all three laptops and all four iphones.  Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    sstultzcostello

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • Itunes shows multiple listings for the same files (songs), help ???

dunno why, but Itunes is showing mulitple listing for my file (songs), is there a way to clean this up instead of going through the list one by one to get rid of the extra listing...?? thank you in advance...

It looks like you have duplicate entries in the library (two entries pointing to the same song file), but you could also have duplicate files.
Add the 'Date Added' column to the library (View Options, Command-J) and sort on 'Date Added'.
If many songs show the same recent 'Date Added' and you didn't actually add them that day, those ones obviously are the duplicates.
Compare a few of those entries with their duplicate ones.
Do they point to the same file? If so, delete the last added ones, but choose 'Keep Files'.
If they point to different files, delete the last added ones and choose 'Move to Trash'
If the above does not help, you might find a useful script at www.dougscripts.com/itunes
Search for "duplicate" to find the appropriate scripts.
You will still have to remove the entries manually though.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1535 downloaded songs from itunes will not sync to ipod classic, I am not able to manually transfer them either

Songs are not downloading from itunes software to my ipod classic.  I have tried manually syncing, and they are all check marked.  Really frustrated as I have spent way too many hours trying to fix this.  Please help.  Is it possible my libraries are messed up?

Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes has no affect on the media on the computer or the account it is linked to.
If the media was purchased under another iTunes account, then it is permanently tied to that account.

  • Albums and songs

I got a new computer and transferred most of my songs sucessfully to my new itunes. However, I am still missing quite a few. I have tried extracting my music folder from my ipod, and it is now on my desktop, but I can't seem to get the folder into my itunes.
Also, is there a way for one song to show up in mulitple albums without having the same song on there multiple times?

  • Viewing multiple Artwork in a song

i put 2 or 3 picture artwork for one song and synced to ipod, but it still only shows the first picture. how can i view the mulitple artwork on the ipod?

With iTunes from version 7 onwards, when you connect the iPod the summary screen should automatically open.
If you click on the 'music' tab, you will see the options to:
"display album artwork on your iPod". Make sure that is enabled.
There are various methods of adding artwork to your songs and albums.
If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
You must have the album or song tagged in your iTunes library correctly or it may not be found. For instance, even a missing "The" before the artists name can throw up anomalies. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a free program to do it for you.

  • Multiple copies of same song, how to delete?

I have multiple copies of all my music. I am not sure how this happened. Yet when I try to delete any of the copies, I am unable to play the songs in iTunes.
Is there a way to automatically remove all copies of the same song? A setting to change to allow me to delete the copies, yet retain the file?

if you only have 1 actual version of the file on your disk, but have multiple entries in itunes, then just select all but 1 of the mulitple entries, hit delete, and when it asks you whether to 'keep files' or 'move to trash' click on keep files,
This then only deletes the 'link' to the files. and should leave your itunes looking tidier with 1 remaining link in the list.
If you DO have loads of the actual .mp3 file saved too, you can use the menu item, "View > Show Duplicates" to find them (you can do that anyway if you like). but when you delete them tell it to 'send to trash' if you want the files binning too.
To address the problem of how you ended up with all these files, maybe you need to let itunes manage your library for you? (if it doesn't already?)
under preferences there is a general tab under advanced options asking you whether to keep music oganized & copy files to the library when imported. with both these boxes checked it's easier to keep track of stuff and not get multiple copies going on.
Also make sure the path to your library is pointing to the right folder under the itunes music location heading on the same preference page. Then go back to iTunes and hit the menu "Advanced > Consolidate Library".
this will make sure everything that appears in your iTUNES lists, is actually kept in the iTunes library, and again makes it easier not to get thiings muddled up.
    good luck

  • Sending songs in e-mail

Recently I sent an mp3 in an e-mail but it bounced back because the server would not except files above 20.0MB. I thought mp3's were very compressed
and didn't take up much memory. Do different servers have different limits on the size of the file you send? If you send more than one song, does the server look at the combined size of the songs? Is there a format takes up less memory than mp3? What if you want to send mulitple files? I'm puzzled!

Yes, different servers have different limits on the size of the file you can send. And the server does add the size of each file in order to authorize the sending of the message.
I'm very fond of YouSendIt, which is a file-transfer site. You can upload up to 1 GB of files and then send to any e-mail you wish. Then the recipent will get an e-mail from the site which will give him the link to download the files you sent him.
I think you should give it a try.

  • 60 gig ipod skips songs after 10-15 secs.

In addition to freezing video, I have a 1/2 dozen or more songs I purchased from itunes that play the first 15 seconds and skip to the next song. I also have itunes songs that don't play to the end. Does anyone have a work around for this problem?
I downgraded the firmware to 1.0 in order to try to enjoy the video aspects of the Ipod but still the video playback is terrible. 1.1 made every video jump including videos I purchased from itunes.
I hope Apple fixes this issue.
    Any help is appreciated.
