Multi paper format support

Hello Gurus
I need to create adobe forms that should support North-America letter format as well as Europeen A4 format.
Letter format is 8.5 inches X 11 Inches (215.9 mm X 279.4 mm)
A4 format is 8.26 inhes X 11.69 Inches (210 mm X 297 m)
1. Is it possible to determine the paper size based on the user location?
2. For the header itself, it is not a huge problem. It is always at the top of the paper regardless of the paper format.
3. But for the footer, I would like to have the footer at the end of the docuement regardless the paper size.
Example: At paper length - 1 inch.
4. Is it possible to horizontally centralize the body part of the form based on the paper width.
5. Furthermore, the form should support several languages. But this is another story.
Step by step and/or example would be highly appreciated.

Hi Daniel,
We are using our global Adobe Forms worldwide and across different paperformat-countries (what a word).
When we went to Mexico with our forms, which is also a US-Letter-country, we in fact asked ourselves exactly the same question. Our target was to definitely not copy the forms just because of a different paper format.
As time was very short during that roll-out, and a solution on form-side would have needed more time for investigation than we had, we decided for the most pragmatic approach.
All printers in that location were already standardized to HP printers. So we just implemented a setting on all printers "OVERRIDE A4/LETTER" --> YES. With this setting deployed the printers didn't stop when receiving a "wrong paper format, they just printed on US-Letter.
In addition we changed the layout (print area) of our global forms to be a little wider and a little shorter, in order to fit on both formats.
Now we're facing a project to replace all existing forms in US and Canada, and of course the same question arises. But also here we're lucky to have our printers standardized. So again we'll choose the printer setting approach.
In the meantime we found some time to do more investigation on the topic. Result: using the xdc and xci configuration on the ADS server we didn't find a solution. The only thing that we still have left for investigation is doing something inside the form using Java script.

Yes, I know very well what MDI is, I just don't know what Multi Document Format is
Programs like word, excel, etc support reading/writing of files in multiple formats (e.g. *.doc, *.rtf, *.txt, etc. for word or *.xls, *.csv, etc. for excel), so the question could be along these lines. I guess we have to wait for the original poster to come back to clarify.

Error in determining Paper Format for Printout triggering from ABAP Code

I am trying to trigger a printout from my ABAP code using "NEW-PAGE PRINT ON ...... NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF" statement.
I am passing the Print Parameters using the FM "GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS" as below:

But I am facing a problem. Though I am passing X_65_80 to the LAYOUT in the Function Module, it is trying to print in LETTER format. But the specified printer as the printer supports only A4 paper format and as a result, I am not getting any printout.
Kindly help me with your suggestions to resolve this.

Hi,
I just found that this problem is even stranger.
I am able to print the said message on my local printer but when I try to print the same message on a different printer located at a different location, the printout does not get triggered. I am not getting any error messages also in this case.
What could be the possible reason for this?
Kindly share your views/experience with me on this one.

I want a question that how to print text in paper format like paper divides into 2 parts and if the firstpart is full of text i.e., it exceeds the first page the text will be displyed in the second part of the first page.

U create two windows in the page and same as like second page.
but in first page first window select the condition print only on first page.
in second window select conditin print only on second page.
first try without creating a secondpage. if that doesn't workout create secondpage and try.

Thank you for responding. So I essentially will never be able to use that button in lightroom 5? do I need to get LR 6? Will there ever be an update for LR 5 that will enable me to use it?
Does DNG Converter work within LR or do I have to upload pictures to my computer and then make a second copy in DNG format. and then go into LR and use them?

Smartform output in news paper format

How to print the data in the main window of a smartform in news paper format like First colum some data and second colum some data(after filling the first column data).

Hi,
This can be done using table nodes with appropriate line types and table widths designed as per the news paper format.
Also in what kind of structured way the data is passed onto the smartform interface matters here.
Suppose you have the data required for the first column in a single table then use appropriate table width as required for the first column of the news paper format.
Then adjacent to it use another table storing the data required for the second column.
This way you can display the data in a news paper format.

Messages in multi-message format can only be sent to one Adapter Engine

Hi,
Using XI 7.0 SPS 12 I have a scenario Single Flat File->XI->Multiple Messages to ECC.
Due to an annoying limitation/bug in ECC we have to send workorders in to be processed as individual transactions. This means generating seperate calls to ECC from PI.
I've adjusted my message map (No BPM) to split the source messages out, but when it calls the XI adapter to send them to ECC I get the following:

I am generating multiple structures under
messages/message1/xx_my_structure_repeated_at_this_level
which gives the correct amount of payloads in moni.
I believe this error is because the http/idoc adapters dont go through the AE and it is the AE that splits the multiple messages into individual calls. Is there a clean workaround which doesnt involve BPM or intermediate writing to disk etc?

My lightroom 4 will not import my files from my compact flash card . It has been working for years with out fail but now there is no import previews and it says the files are not recognized by raw format support in LR

I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"

Don't feel too bad. If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4. The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported. The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here. Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac. Product updates
On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version. If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person.

Populate vo values in multi colum format

I created a VO and now i want to present the values in multi column format with radio button for each value fetched from query .
I tried using message component layout.But i was not successful in doing .
I want in the following format
attibutename value1(radiobutton) value2(radiobutton) value3(radiobutton)
attibutename value1(radiobutton) value2(radiobutton) value3(radiobutton)

attributename is :i must give some xyz name and value1(radiobutton)..must be fetched from VO.

This can be done by :
1)If the sql query where condition does not have to many rows, u can use two VO approach, one for display and another for rendering.
2)Use flowlayout in each column of table in ui to attach a radio button and the table VO column value.
But I still wonder whats' ur eaxct requirement? y u wanna this?

The problem is that the file is picking fine from FTP ,but getting an error in SXMB_MONI as : Messages in multi message format can be sent to one adapter engine only. What could be the reason and how to rectify it . Please provide me the solution ASAP.
