Multi-thread failure - Error in assignment
Hello
I have a c++ program processor running under Windows XP with Oracle 9i. My program access to oracle by an ODBC driver version 9.2.0.4.0. It could be launched in multi-thread to increase performance. When I launch it with one thread everything is fine. When I use several threads I have problems. ODBC driver returns to me a "error in assignment ... General error" message and my updates queries failed. Under SQl server it works without problems. It seems to be a kind of deadlock. When I disable check box in my odbc driver of "enable query timeout" my program encounter a problem and freezes...
Could someone help me ?

I have thought of the above solutions as workable, however, it is not. Some exhibited errors are:
A. "Attempt to use database while environment is closed." This error applies to 2, 3 and 4 all the way;
B. "Attempt to read / write database while database is closed." This error applies to 3 in particular;
C. "Attempt to close environment while some database is still open." This error applies to 5.
Please help me with designing a better strategy to solve the concurrent issue. Many thanks in advance.All these are expected errors. You should design the application so that you do not close an environment handle while database handles are still open, keep database handles open for as long as operations need to be performed on the underlying databases, open the database handles after opening the database handles, and close database handles before closing the environment handle.
In short, in pseudo-code, you should have something like this:
- open environment handle,
- open database handles,
- perform whatever operations are needed on the databases,
- close database handles,
- close environment handle.
You can refer to the Getting Started with Data Storage and the Getting Started with Transaction Processing guides appropriate for the API you are using, from the Berkeley DB documentation page.

Found Dead Multi-Threaded Server Error!!!
I am in the process of testing an application based on EJBs deployed on an Oracle 8.1.5 database.
Some times the whole instance chashes without any obvious reason.
The error reported in the Alert file is
"found dead multi-threaded server 'SOOO',pid(8,1). Terminating Instance".
I check my code and i think that there is no problem with cleaning up resources. I increased also the JAVA_POOL_SIZE and LARGE_POOL_SIZE size without any result.
Can anybody give me a hint for the error cause?
Thanks in advance.

"Inconsistent cursor cache. Out of range cursor" error on dual processor multi thread
I have a C++ with Pro*C++ COM object running on a Win2000 OS on
a dual processor Middleware. The program is being called by a
service in a multi threaded way. An oracle error like ORA-2103
and SQL-02103 will be generated after running the program. We've
tried putting mutex on every SQL statement in Pro*C and it works
but the systems became very very slow. We concluded that the
error might be cause by a collision of threads accessing the
same Table or different tables having foreign constraints. This
is so because the error keeps coming from a statement accessing
Table A and following errors comes from a Table B having a
foreign key on Table A.
Our only solution now is to put Mutex on Statements accessing
same tables or tables with foreign constraints but this will
make our system run very very slow. I dont know if the problem
is in our Oracle Database because we already upgraded our system
from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7. The wierd thing on this is that the system
is running smoothly without oracle errors on a SINGLE PROCESSOR
Middleware. Hope you can give me any insights on this problem.I have a C++ with Pro*C++ COM object running on a Win2000 OS on

Oraclient9i.dll error in multi threaded delphi server application
I created a multi threaded server application in delphi using oracle9i and indy server components. When I run my application, I am getting an error "oraclient9i.dll" error when executing my SQL statements. I have check communication between my server application and the client application without using oracle and its working fine, its only when I started executing SQL statements when I got this error.
Can anybody help me with this problem or point me to the right direction on how to resolve this issue.
thanks> I have tried what you suggested. I have created a
seperate TOracleSession on each thread that I create
on the OnConnect event however I am having Problems
using the oraclesession created on the OnExecute
event. Somehow it is still executing the SQL that I
have created on the main form where I first opened an
oraclesession component created on the main form.
It sounds then like the TOracleSession object in the thread is a copy of the one in the main thread/form.
> Do you think that It would work if I create an
instance of the TOracleDatasets and TOracleQuery on
the OnExecute event and also at the same time create
my TOracleSession on this event and continue
processing the data receive from the client server.
I've never used the Indy components for threading. The default TThread class worked just fine for me.
What I used to do is define the session and database objects as privates in my new thread class (let's call it TThreadSQL) - which was subclassed from TThread.
The constructor of this new TThreadSQL class did the following (writing here purely from memory - have not done Delphi for some time now): constructor TThreadSQL.Create( TNSalias, username, password : string );
// constructor is called with the Oracle session connection details
begin
inherited Create; // call the parent class constructor
CreateOracleSession; // call own private method to create an Oracle connection
end;
The CreateOracleSession method would then:
- create a BDE Session (TSession) object
- create a BDE Database (TDatabase) object, using the BDE Oracle native driver and an Oracle TNS alias plus username and password for connection
The destructor would close the connection. The Execute method which is used to fire up the thread, would use a TQuery object (or whatever) to execute a SQL using it owns connection. -
Error behaviour in multi-threaded mode
I'm running TestStand 3.0 in sequential mode. In the middle of my sequence I have a multi-threaded (6 threads) section with the appropriate Waits. My problem is that if an Error occurs while inside the multi-threaded section, then execution bypasses the Waits and I lose all the result data from the other threads.
Is there anything that I can do to get the error thread to force each of the other threads to go through their Wait so that I can get their report data.
HurstHi,
Try using the New Execution option instead of New Thread.
Or In the Properties set the step to ignore runtime errors. Then put your own error trapping in

Hello, I am getting a Kern Protection failure error message when trying to start up my Olympus DSS Player dictation software. I have been using the software without issue for years until last month. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and don't recall installing any new software before the issue began.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I will post the error message below. Thanks.

Some general questions about multi-threading
Hey Everybody,
I have a dilemma with a multi-threaded program that I have written.
Well to be truthful I actually wrote the program with no consideration whatsoever for multithreading.
As a result of this complete lack of concern I get a completely hung user interface.
My program performs a lot of network communications over URLs and also writes information from URLs to disk. The combination of networking and I/O in my program and the fact that I have not built multi-threading into the program has lead to complete failure of the user interface. When I say complete failure I mean complete failure. If it were only buttons not responding then I wouldnt be all that worried, however the entire drawing area of my programs Frame completely freezes. Its cool if nothing is maximized or minimized over the frame but as soon as this happens my programs drawing area has a serious hang over!.
I have begun learning about threads, in principle they sound wicked however in practice they have proven to be a brain tease (oops K.. honesty).
The difficulty of threads should not be all that daunting to me, however I have a couple of very simple questions that I would love to have answeredK..anybody out there!!!!!!!!!
This is the normal basic method of running a thread that I have been attempting to incorporate into my program:
1). Extend the thread class,
2). Override the run() method in the subclass (created from step 1),
3). Create an instance of the subclass,
4). Call the start() method on the instance (from step 3).
I have read that every statement the thread will execute is contained within its run() method.
Question 1). This being the case is it possible to have member variables or methods inside a class that extends thread? Please explain!
Question 2). Can a class that extends thread contain a constructor? Please explain!
Question 3). If a subclass of thread cannot contain a constructor as I assume to be the case then how can code executing within the newly spawned thread reference information from the object that spawned it?
If anybody out there on the great net can answer even half of one of these questions I will be more than grateful. Thanks for your time, and rock on Java!
DavidThread t = new Thread(MyRunnableDerivedClass);
t.start();I hope it is understood that MyRunnableDerivedClass is actually an object of the MyRunnableDerivedClass. sorry for the confusion.
so here's a thread that reads from a file using constructors, member variables, other funcs. It's not optimal but shows use of all of the above. I just typed this in so there are probably syntax errors, but you should get the point.
public class ThreadedFileReader implements Runnable
private File m_File;
byte[] contents = new byte[0];
public ThreadedFileReader( File f )
m_File = f;
public void run()
BufferedInputStream bis = null;
try
bis = new BufferedInputStream( new FileInputStream( m_File ));
int avail = bis.available();
while (avail > 0)
int oldLen = contents.length();
contents = expand( contents, avail );
bis.read( contents, oldLen, avail );
avail = bis.available();
catch (Exception e)
{ //do something witty
finally
try{ if (bis != null) bis.close(); } catch (Exception e){}
private byte[] expand( byte[] oldBuf, int addedLen )
byte[] newBuf = new char[oldBuf.length + addedLen];
System.arrayCopy( newBuf, 0, oldBuf, 0, oldBuf.length );
return newBuf;
public byte[] getContents()
return contents;
//here's where we use it
File f = new File( "c:\myfile" );
ThreadedFileReader tfr = new ThreadedFileReader( f );
Thread t = new Thread( tfr );
t.start();
t.join();
// At this point the thread has died, but the thread object still exists
byte [] data = tfr.getContents(); -
Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject 0BP_ACTIVIT
Hello Team,
WE are facing the error"Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject 0BP_ACTIVIT" .Please see he below screen shot.
Every day the failure is for a different value and this is fixed with the manual activation of he DSO, with out any change .
Below are the steps we have tried:
1. The RSRV tests for the info objects were consistant. We have done he below rsrv tests:
a. Compare characterstic of P/Q table with X/Y tables.
b.SID values in X and Y tables.
2. We have changed the DSO setting from Parallel to Serialized Activation.
Also the format of the values are as per the designated type.
One more thing which i noticed is , the values for which the failure occurs , are new entries to the DSO, and they do no exists in the Change log table.
Please let us know , what else can be done to fix this issue.
Thanks in Advance,
NikhilHI Nikhil,
please go through the documents.

Re: TR: Thread Package error while configuring
Francois,
Because NT only uses native threads (instead of Forte' threads,) 3GL
partitions CAN NOT be marked as MULTITHREADED=FALSE on NT. Setting
MULTITHREADED=FALSE uses Forte threads, setting it to TRUE will allow
native threads to be used.
The moral of the story - 3GL code must be reentrant, thread safe and signal
tolerant on NT. You must also make sure to link with the multi-threaded
libraries when compiling C/C++ code for NT.

The partition is containing a library wrap object which Multithreadedattribute is set to FALSE;
The node to which I want to transfer the partition is a NT node while mylibrary remains in an AIX one.
Nevertheless I can drag my partition if this library Multithreadedattribute is set to TRUE but I need it to be positionned at FALSE.

Team,
I got an error while creating a User for Domain Account. Below is the screen shot of the error (error : 15401)
Database instance is on SQL 2000 SP3. ( I know it is out of support, But the customer is relutanct to upgrade)
On Google search, i found below article which is best matching for this error
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324321
I have follows each step of troubleshooting. But still the issue persists.
Step 1. The login does not exist == The login is very much exist in the domain as i am able to add the same domain id to other database instances
Step 2. Duplicate security identifiers == i have used this query to find duplicate SID
/* SELECT name FROM syslogins WHERE sid = SUSER_SID ('YourDomain\YourLogin') */
But there was only one row returned with create date of today's.
Error while Assigning database level role (db_datareader) to SQL login (Domain Account)
Step 3. Authentication failure == Domain is available. User is able to login on other servers via RDP connection.
Step 4. Case sensitivity == Database collation is set to Case insensitivity. (CI)
Other two 5. Local Accounts & 6. Name resolution == is not applicable to me.
I tried other ways also.
A. Creating login and providing permission in one go only = User account is not created
B. Instead of GUI, use query to create login and provide required permission = Same error.
Does anybody has faced any such situation

RMMR1MRS-When run in background cause update failure errors looking
hi,
RMMR1MRS report when run in background cause update failure errors .
There are few below reason for the error log.
1. for the PO invoice already generated - (its right if already invoice generated. should not happen again)
2. In MIGO, entire quantity has been reversed and also invoice generated with zero value - ( its right , should not happen invoice again )
3. Particular PO line item deleted - (its right if the PO line item deleted. ERS settlement not require)
For the all above reason, the update error occurs. But the mean time the program "RMMR1MRS" should not through the update error log.
Note: The job was not terminated due to this update error and also no harm because of the error log
can you please help on this update failure why it occurs.Have you found a solution already? If so, please, share it with the community and close this thread.
