Multiple BI Answers Queries

We have a report that has 5 BI Answers data sets. The report works fine apart from the performance. The 5 queries take just under a minute to run from a dashboard, but it appears that BI publisher is running them in sequence so it takes nearly 5 minutes to render the report. If that is the case is there any way of getting the queries to be run in parallel?
Version 10.1.3.3.2

Hi Sairamgoud,
I am narasimharao. we have done this successfully.
you cna do it in 2 ways.
1. get the xml data for individual data sets and create the template with one START and END and have the repeating tags for the individual data sets in between and upload the template into BIP to see the concatenated output from multiple sources.
2. you can get the individual templates directly from the word BIpub desktop feature by opening the request and then create the template with one START and END and have the repeating tags for the individual data sets in between and upload the template into BIP to see the concatenated output from multiple sources.
Hope this helps. if you wants more information on this please check with Bhavananda raju.
thanks

  • Create BI Pub report using multiple Answers queries as sources

    No answer to this on the BI Publisher forum. Posting here...
    Is it possible to pull information from two or more separate Answers requests into the same BI Publisher report?
    I'm using Word with the BI Publisher add-in. I can connect to, and retrieve data from, one of my stored Answers requests. So now I have a table of Answers-sourced results in my Word doc.
    Now I'd like to get some different results, from another stored Answers query, and put those results into a second location in my Word doc.
    How is this accomplished?
    Thanks!

    I figured it out. Although I can't DIRECTLY add more than one answers query to a Word doc strictly from within Word, if I establish the different Answers queries as different DataSets over in my BI Publisher report, then specify that the default DataSet is the Concatenated SQL Data Source, both queries appear in the "Insert" options in Word, and both can be used in the same Word doc layout template.

  • Control multiple updates and queries within one transaction in JPA

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding control multiple updates and queries within one transaction. We are using EclipseLink 2.3.1. With below code, will I be able to:
    - have all insert, update, select queries committed in one transaction;
    - queryGetBalance will return the latest OrgBalance after update;
    - if one fails, everything rolls back.
    Thanks!
    Jeffrey
    PS: I realized that I cannot use em.getTransaction().begin() and em.getTransaction().commit(), since I am using JTA.
    =============
    @PersistenceContext(unitName="Test")
    EntityManager em;
    em.setFlushMode(FlushModeType.COMMIT);
    newTransaction.setAmount(1000);
    newTransaction.setType("check");
    em.persist(newTransaction);
    orgAudit.setUpdateUser("Joe")
    orgAudit.setupUpdateTime(time);
    em.merge(orgAudit);
    Query queryUpdateBalance = em.createQuery("update OrgBalance o set o.balance = o.balance + :amount where orgId = :myOrgId");
    queryUpdateBalance.setParameter("amount", 1000);
    queryUpdateBalance.setParameter("myOrgId", 1234);
    Query queryGetBalance = em.createQuery("select OrgBalance o where o.orgId = :myOrgId");
    queryGetBalance.setHint("javax.persistence.cache.storeMode", CacheStoreMode.REFRESH);
    queryGetBalance.setHint("javax.persistence.cache.retrieveMode", CacheRetrieveMode.BYPASS);
    queryGetBalance.getResultList();
    em.flush();

    Yes, the operation will be in a single transaction, assuming you are using a JTA managed SessionBean and the code is part of a SessionBean method.

    Hi,
    I am trying to create one slide multiple choice question.
    My options in answers are 16 and from these 16 answers only 4 of them is correct.
    Why Captivate doesn't allow me to have more than 15 multiple choice answers?
    Thanks,

    Sorry, but the limit is 15. Even that is pretty much for a MCQ.

  • Rebuild of BI Answer queries and dashboard

    Hi
    This is urgent.
    I had an existing dasboard based on BI answer queries.
    I have had to rebuild the BMM layer and the presentation layer but I have kept the names the same for the pre-exising calculation column names.
    When I go to BI answers there are errors pointing to the the 'new' subject area.
    Should one have to rebuild the queries and hence the dashboards as a result of these 'changes' or is there a way of retaining these existing queries.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Open your report--go--criteria-->advance tab--> xml code inside--> you have to modify new subject ares instead of old subject area.

  • Deleting and or moving multiple adhoc/SAP queries in one go.

    Hi,
    I am wondering whether anyone knows of a method to deleting multiple SAP queries in a single go.  I would also like to be able to bulk move queries from one user group to another.  We are having a wholesale clear-up of queries and the thought of having to do each one individually is scary!
    Many thanks in advance

    To delete queries belonged to a user group, you can use SQ02 -  GoTo - Query Directory, then key in the desired user group and execute. From the output list of this, you can select all queries and click on 'Delete Select Queries' .

  • Multiple "runtime defined" queries

    I want to create a report that queries multiple tables. At design time I do not know how may tables or what they are called. My application creates a table called my_tables which holds the names of the tables that I want to query (they have all have the same columns which are known at design time) and then calls the report. Is it possible to get the contents of these tables into the report?

    Hi Chrish
    You job will be simpler by using lexical parameters in our query.
    This way you can dynamically change the table names and cols also.

  • One number/account, multiple users answering

    Here's what I would like to set up for my business:
    - A button on my business website that says "contact us now on Skype"
    - Clicking that button activates a call or a chat session to a Skype account for my business
    - That call or chat will be answered by whichever of my three colleagues are online at the time
    I have searched high and low across the Skype website and forums, but haven't found anything like this. Did I miss it?
    I realize I could just link it to one single Skype username, but what happens when that person is offline? It would be great if it could go to a single account that is accessed by multiple users, any of which could pick up the call/chat.

    keinkohle wrote:
    Thanks for the suggestion! Pretty May looks pretty good.
    However, they unfortunately don't support Skype messaging. It would be great if customers could just type a quick message, that could be received then answered by one of three staff members.
    Anyone heard of anything that can do that?
    I am assuming you are expecting these end-users to send these messages to you via Skype?
    While this can be done, it would require that you have a computer somewhere dedicated to be running a Skype client and another 3rd party program at all times.
    The 3rd party program is a free program I created that does call transfer automatically, called SCTE ("Skype Call Transfer Example").
    Inside the Lower text box named "Or Enter "ONE" Skype name or Phone #, you can actually enter as many Skype names and/or phone numbers as you wish, seperating them by a comma.
    Example: SkypeName1,+13125551212,SkypeName2,SkypeName3,+16125551212
    NOTE: Any phone numbers must have a leading (+) sign.
    By checking the checkbox "Auto Transfer" any inbound call will be attempted to be transfered to ALL of the Skype Names and/or phone numbers listed above. The first one that answers, gets that call.
    It's important to define "First One that Answers" by saying, if for example SkypeName2 was offline, but had Skype voicemail activated, then it is possible that the call could end up going to Skype voicemail even when the other Skype names are online or the other phone numbers are ringing if those others don't answer the call quickly. So, that's important to remember.
    That said, you can remove phone numbers and Skype names at anytime to avoid any Skype names that are not currently online or any phone numbers where say that office is closed ("Say it's a weekend and nobody will answer the phone or it's a different timezone and that phone won't be answered at this time.").
    Many use SCTE for example, for hotlines and on-call methods, as shifts change or offices are closed due to timezone difference, the Skype names and phone numbers are changed and inbound callers are redirected to the current support at that time.
    SCTE can even be used by those that answered the call, and they can quickly re-transfer the call to members in custom Skype qroups you can create, or contacts in their contact list because SCTE shows the online status of who is currently available, for example, for questions that maybe the original person who had the call transferred to, can't answer. So they in turn, again transfer the called transferred to them, to someone else.
    If the people answering the call are also using SCTE, they can quickly place a call on hold, answer another call, resume a call, end a call and transfer a call again, by simply selecting that call in progress from the SCTE active call window.
    SCTE can also be placed in your system startup folder and if the Skype name is set to auto-logon SCTE will start Skype when SCTE starts so that Skype and SCTE are always available as soon as your Windows system starts.
    SCTE retains any settings from the last time it was used, so it will always startup with any settings you have set from the last time it was stopped.
    More information on SCTE and how it works can be found here:
    http://saveontelephoneservices.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=11
    The above takes care of calls so now lets deal with Skype Chat options.
    Since there is no single entity, for example 1 Skype name that will always be around to answer all Skype Chat message at all times, you could create a Skype Group chat link that can be posted on web pages and in emails, but this would mean everyone can see everyones recent messages ("There are methods to disable prior older Skype Group Chat history, when new people join").
    So if for example 2 people are asking questions in the Skype Group Chat, at that same moment in time, then both will see the others questions as well as the responses to those questions.
    Once their questions are answered someone given what's known as master privilege abilility specifically to manage this Skype Group Chat can then, kick that person from the Skype chat ("They can always re-join later if needed") to keep the people in the Skype Group Chat, just the ones that have current questions, if needed.
    The Skype Group Chat method is the best method for this because then there is no need to have you or the other Skype name(s) add each other as contacts before you can exchange Skype chat messages.
    If you did a 1 to 1 Skype chat instead, for example, if that persons Skype name asking the questions had their privacy settings set to ("Contacts Only") you/they would need to exchange/approve contact details before communicating via Skype Chat messages.
    Not sure if that's bad or good in your case?
    So, you would need to respond, before I go into more details on how to deal with chats because my response will be based on your needs.

  • Tricky query with multiple hierarchial sub queries

    Here's a pussle that I cannot solve. Who can help me?
    Given table F (records form a binary tree with levels 0, 1, and
    2):
    Id IdParent
    F1 null
    F2 F1
    F3 F2
    F4 F2
    F5 F1
    F6 F5
    F7 F5
    and given table D (records form a similar binary tree with
    levels 0, 1, and 2):
    Id IdParent
    D1 null
    D2 D1
    D3 D2
    D4 D2
    D5 D1
    D6 D5
    D7 D5
    and given table P (cross referencing tables F and D):
    IdF IdD
    F2 D6
    F3 D2
    F5 D7
    and given table S (which holds the seed to the query):
    IdF
    F3
    and given table I (just any collection of records that reference
    table D which we want to select records from):
    Id IdD
    I1 D1
    I2 D2
    I3 D3
    I4 D4
    I5 D5
    I6 D6
    I7 D7
    I8 D1
    I9 D5
    all together being related like in figure 1:
    S.IdF =>> F.Id
    F.Id <- P.IdF
    P.IdD -> D.Id
    D.Id <<= I.IdD
    where =>> denotes 'is or is a descenden of'
    and -> denotes 'is'
    I want to build a query that lets me select all records from
    table I, which reference table D, such that the referenced
    records in table D are hierarchial descendents of any record
    that is referenced by records in table P, for which they
    reference records in table F, which are ancestors to records
    referenced by records in table S.
    If it wasn't for the hierarchial approach on both sides of the
    cross referencing table, matters would have been easy. Then the
    releational map would have been like in figure 2:
    S.IdF <- P.IdF
    P.IdD -> I.IdD
    and the query would have been:
    SELECT I.Id
    FROM I, P, S
    WHERE I.IdD = P.IdD
    AND P.IdF = S.IdF
    So in what I am looking for, you may say that the '='-signs in
    this select statement should denote 'is or is a descenden of'
    going towards the side of table P.
    Given the tables listed above and given the query I am seeking,
    I expect to retrieve the following result set:
    I.Id
    I2
    I3
    I4
    I6
    Tricky, eh? I belive the figures are the best angles to
    understand this problem.

    You do this with subqueries and hierarchical queries...
    First the hierarchal subquery on F...
    SQL> SELECT f.id
      2    FROM f
      3   CONNECT BY PRIOR f.idp = f.id
      4   START WITH f.id IN ( SELECT idf FROM s )
      5       ;
    ID
    F3
    F2
    F1
    Then join with the cross reference table...
    SQL> SELECT p.idd
      2    FROM p
      3       , (  SELECT f.id
      4              FROM f
      5             START WITH f.id IN ( SELECT idf FROM s )
      6             CONNECT BY PRIOR f.idp = f.id
      7         ) s
      8   WHERE s.id = p.idf
      9       ;
    ID
    D6
    D2
    Use this as a subquery in a hierarchial query for the
    descendents in D...
    SQL> SELECT d.id
      2    FROM d
      3   START WITH d.idd IN ( SELECT p.idd
      4                         FROM p
      5                            , ( SELECT f.id
      6                                  FROM f
      7                                 START WITH f.id IN ( SELECT
    idf FROM s )
      8                                 CONNECT BY PRIOR f.idp = f.id
      9                             ) s
    10                        WHERE s.id = p.idf
    11                      )
    12   CONNECT BY PRIOR d.id = d.idp
    13       ;
    ID
    D2
    D3
    D4
    D6
    Then use that as a subquery to return the I result set...
    SQL> SELECT i.id
      2    FROM i
      3   WHERE i.idd  IN  ( SELECT d.id
      4                        FROM d
      5                       START WITH d.id IN ( SELECT p.idd
      6                                             FROM p
      7                                                , ( SELECT
    f.id
      8                                                      FROM f
      9                                                     START
    WITH f.id IN ( SELECT idf FROM s )
    10                                                     CONNECT
    BY PRIOR f.idp = f.id
    11                                                 ) s
    12                                            WHERE s.id = p.idf
    13                                          )
    14                       CONNECT BY PRIOR d.id = d.idp
    15                    )
    16       ;
    ID
    I2
    I3
    I4

  • Multiple Column Sub queries

    Hi,
    I am facing some problems in teaching Multiple column subqueries and also ig u'll could with some example show me how to use sub-query using from clause??

    Essentially you are using subqueries within the FROM clause.
    Here is an example of an embedded view (i.e. view-on-the-fly):
    select a.person_id, a.fname, a.lname,
    c.job_id
    from person a,
    (select b.person_id, b.fname,
    b.lname, b.job_id
    from jobs b) c
    where a.person_id = c.person_id

  • Script for running multiple find/change queries

    Working on a large ID book document (*.indb), I have saved several dozens of Find/Change Queries (named "col01", "col02" etc.) that I run on "All documents". For a particular reason I have to run these queries several times a day.
    So I was wondering whether there is, or whether anybody out there would write, a script that runs these queries one after the other. Given the size of the book, it might be necessary to provide for the script to pause after each query is run (before it goes on with the next), but I am just guessing.
    Any help is much appreciated!

    There are a couple of others:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5173943#5173943
    this is more at code level rather than a GUI, but the actual queries are made using the Find/Change dialog box.
    Also
    http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/grep_query_manager.html
    This is good too, but only does GREP searches (no text, glyph or object find/replaces) that were written by the user - does not use the ones installed with InDesign. Does allow changes by selection, story, document or folder.
    Did try the Doquerylist suggested by Kasyan. This allows GREP/text changes by the user/installed with InDesign, but only applies to a selection or text-thread.
    Always good to have more than one way of accomplishing a task though!

  • SQL Dealing with multiple choice answers in a DB with no unique identifier

    I am working with a Database that has forms set up with multiple select fields.  As seen below, (Question_ID 2533) the Patient_ID, Visit_ID, and Question_ID are the same and there are 3 different answers that were chosen.  I am trying to figure
    out how to seperate these Multiple answers so I can use SSRS to pull them into seperate fields. I believe I know how to use SSRS to pull the data after I have differentiated each answer. I need help with the SQL code...
    Patient_ID   Visit_ID   Form_ID   Question_ID   Answer_ID     Answer
    124            1685        164          2533             1490
    Muscle pain
    124            1685        164          2533             1492

    678                Good
    124            1685        164          2535
    678                Good

  • Multiple Forest DNS queries, and DFS

    Setup:
    2 physical servers hosting several virtual machines with 3 forests (domains) and 3 subnets.  The physical server has 4 NICs, each forest/subnets has its own dedicated NIC via virtual switch (so 1 NIC is empty).  Each NIC connects to a switch to
    allow workstations and other devices to connect to their proper forest/subnet directly.  These switches then connect to the sonicwall (firewall/router) in an individual port.  Each port has proper subnet defined in it.
    The 3 forests are c.com, l.lan, and w.web named.  c.com and l.lan use a 10.x.x.x/255.255.0.0 subnet.  w.web uses 192.168.x.x/255.255.0.0 subnet.  There are no trusts setup.
    I can ping from one forest/subnet to the other using IP address without issue so the IP routes are fine.  I can ping via FQDN without issue if I setup a forwarder, conditional forwarder, or stub zone.  Sometimes using just the forwarder, FQDN does
    NOT resolve.  Conditional and Stub seems to resolve always.
    I can get c.com and w.web to resolve single-name (host name) addresses, but at the moment (transitioning) they are on the same subnet.  From some research, I can use single-name resolution if I setup a GlobalNameZone as well, which I might need to do.
    So my question is which is best practice and most reliable way to setup these different forests and subnets to perform DNS resolution?  I tried forwarders, but it wasn't always reliable.  I suspected caching as an issue, but after a flush, a FQDN
    would sometimes resolve and sometimes not.  Conditional and Stub seem to work okay, but I'm not sure about what's best.
    I've spent most of the day researching this, and nothing was every really definitive and sometimes even contradictory.  Previously the DNS Forwarders worked fine for us, but that was on the same subnet.  Differing subnets seems to break the internal-to-internal
    forwarding.
    Additionally the w.web domain has a domain level DFS.  Neither of the other forests can access it via the
    \\w.web\data address.  Though they can access it if I point them directly to the server hosting the DFS namespace.

    2) Edit the "Default Domain Policy" to include DNS Suffix search for current domain and all other domains.
    3) Set normal forwarders on domain's DNS servers.
    4) Repeat on all domain.
    This partially fixed my problem.  Things were resolving more reliably, but there would be a failure once in a while as well.  I corrected this by adding a conditional forwarder along with the normal forwarder.
    Now I get full resolution of all items.  Additionally, I do not have to use the FQDN for my machines.  Just hostname resolves just fine.  HOWEVER I would suggest to anyone setting up machines to use FQDN where possible, don't be lazy.
    This means I will not have to setup a GlobalName zone either.  Though I may do it for the experience.
    Another problem though is this only works on Windows machines.  Mobile phones (such as Android and iPhone) and other such devices will not know about the DNS Suffix search.  Fortunately most of those devices required the internet FQDN for services
    to work anyway, and when behind the firewall via WiFi or like, they'll be able to still resolve the internet FQDN of devices since we're using a split-brain DNS for that domain.

  • Multiple question answer alignment problem

    In Captivate 8 when I add the 5th answer I get misalignment like picture below. How can I fix this?
    I tried different "[Default Question Answer Style]"  it did not help.
    Thank you
    H.K,

    The quickest way to fix this is to delete the first four items and add four more to replace them.  The ones you add will usually look like the last one in your graphic.
