Multiple Colored Links in Dreamweaver CS4??

Hi all, I have gone through a million articles and can't find the answer I'm looking for so hopefully someone here will help me.
I have an existing style sheet for my website, I know how to change the page preferences so that all the links can have the colors changed, but is there a way in dreamweaver cs4 to set certain links a:link a:hover ect to be specific colors from others using the existing stylesheet.
I just can't seem to get it.  : /
Any help on this would be appreciated.

thank you for your reply
i do know how to set the links and such but i'm having trouble for example setting the active hover ect links for table A apart from table B in the same style sheet.   : /
i was trying something like
#table_a a:link {
     color: #333333;
#table_a a:hover {     color: #333333;
and then named the table id as table_a
yet it doesn't seem to be working, and when i did that i had to do it manually... is there not an easier way in dreamweaver cs4 to acomplish this?
i read page 3 http://projectseven.com/tutorials/css/pseudoclasses/page3.htm from that tutorial but the cs4 add rule doesn't look like the diagrams... : /

    <p class="c3"><strong class="c2">Using Octenol to Attract Mosquitoes<br /></strong><br /></p>
    <p class="c3">Octenol is an natural chemical that occurs naturally as a by-product of plants and some animals that eat a lot of vegetable produce. If carbon dioxide is mixed with octenol, it has been found to be an attractant to several mosquito species. There are other insects such as no-see-ums and biting midges that are also attracted to this scent. It has been proven to be a very effective product, especially for no-see-ums.<br />
    <br />
    <img src="images/12137165-cartoon-stop-mosquito.jpg" width="168" height="168" alt="mosquito" /><br />
    <br />
    Octenol is also a pesticide ingredient that is used to attract mosquitoes and biting flies. It does not kill the insects; it only attracts them. It can be used in combination with other products and devices that do kill them once they are successfully attracted to the device. It is important to be aware that non-pest insects are also attracted and destroyed by some of the devices.<br />
    <br />
    If octenol is ingested, there is a possibility for toxicity. It is not, however, harmful in the air to humans, pets, or the environment. It is vitally important that it is kept safely away from children to avoid the possibility of ingesting. Placement of the attractant and device utilized to catch biting insects should be carefully considered. It should be kept safely away from children and pets.<br /></p>
    <p class="c3">To be most effective in mosquito control, the attractant should be placed between the breeding grounds of the mosquito and the area where the people are located. There are range limits that the attractant will reach and this needs to be considered in the placement of the trap as well.<br /></p>

  • How do i test/fix my internal links using dreamweaver cs4

    Well i'm done designing my website and i know how to link pages together ,i'm setting up my home page and i saved it as my template, i put the links of other pages in my template so when i create another page from my template i would have the page linked already so i can click on the home button to return me back to the orginal page,so when i tested the main page in my browser i would click on the topic but when im in the topic i'll try and click on another topic the page would say can not find page  i linked my pages already in the template so it was it should sent me to any link i selected right? help me is it because im not on a remote server why when i'll click into a sub page but the subpage wont return to the home page when i click on the link?

    My guess without seeing your code is that you have a path problem.
    For best answers, open a page in DW and SaveAs test.html
    Upload it to your remote server along with dependant files.
    Post a link here so we can see your page.
    After you get an answer to your question, remove the test.html page from your server.

  • Where is SQL color coding in Dreamweaver?

    I can't seem to find the SQL color coding in Dreamweaver
    CS4... how can this be omitted from such a product? Is it staring
    me in the face and I am just incredibly dull and can't find
    it?

    Alphom wrote:
    > The idea that Dreamweaver doesn't include simple code
    coloring for SQL files is ridiculous.
    Dreamweaver's SQL creation handles very simple SQL pretty
    easy, think SELECT * FROM or SELECT col1, col2, col3 WHERE id =
    parameter. But beyond that, Dreamweaver just isn't the tool for
    editing/creating SQL.
    I can't think of the last time that I used Dreamweaver to
    create SQL beyond the above. If I need something more complex, I'll
    either enter it in myself into the SQL string in a recordset, or
    use other SQL specific tools to create SQL such as Enterprise
    Manger for SQL Server, or SQL Server Management Studio Express for
    SQL Server 2005, or MySQL Control Center for MySQL, that sort of
    thing. Not every tool can do everything, so I try to use the
    appropriate tool for the appropriate task.
    Now, that doesn't mean that I don't feel like it should allow
    for a better application building experience within Dreamweaver. I
    feel that there should be a full fledged query builder similar to
    the query builder within Access that would allow for complex SQL
    generation. But I've asked for that, and if you want it, or other
    server/database related features, please do ask for it:

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Code Coloring not updating

    Hi,
    Recently, when trying to edit the code coloring in Dreamweaver CS4, it will not update the colors after I hit "ok." Anyone know why this might be? I've tried restarting Dreamweaver, clearing the cache, and even seeing if it would work on new documents but none of that helps. Thanks for any help!
    - Matt

    Are you sure you're changing colors for you open document ?
    I have issue with coloring too, but I thought after all this time CS5 will finally have Save option for exactly this issue. So I don't have to repeat this over and over again.

  • Internal link checking with Dreamweaver CS4

    I currently have 3 root directory index pages: index.html, index.htm, and default.htm
    My host is GoDaddy and the page that resolves for http://www.amenta.com/ is the default.htm page.  So, I would like to get rid of the other two, neither of which is cached by Google, in order to avoid any future canonicalization issues.
    When I go to delete index.htm and index.html in the Dreamweaver CS4 Files window, I am alerted that there are many internal pages linking to them.
    How can I pull up a list of all of these pages?
    Also, when I try to run a "Change links sitewide" function and I enter "Change all links to : /index.html" "Into links to : /" I am prompted that "no links to /index.html found".  But when I try to delete this file, I am shown the first several of 186 such files.
    Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

    Thanks again John.  DW indicates that there are 185 files linking to index.html when I attempt to delete it through the Files Window.  Here is the display:
    However, each of these 6 files link to / and not /index.html and I can not figure out how to pull up a list of the rest of the files beyond what this alert message shows.
    When I attempt to delete index.htm through the DW Files Window, I am alerted about just one file linking to it.
    Perhaps DW is programmed to consider /index.html as the default for any link to / but on my host, the default page seems to be default.htm which is why I want to get rid of index.html and index.htm to avoid any duplicate content or canonicalization issues.
    But before I delete index.html, I want to be sure that I am not creating a bunch of broken links when I do so.
    And, when I try to run the following "Change Link Sitewide" command...:
    ...I am prompted that no such links exist:
    Thanks again for your looking into this with me.  If nothing else, I will just go ahead and delete both index.html and index.htm and then do a check for broken internal links.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 link help................

    I recently built a site on Dreamweaver CS4.  Here is the basic layout of what i did.  My site is based off of a template, i have set it up using both a spry menu bar (vertical) and using a image based nav bar (not at the same time, but tried both in my efforts to get rid of my problem).  I have run into the same issue with both nav options.  I linked all of my pages together and everything worked fine, until i decided to add a couple of extra pages and change a few things on the site.  when i try linking to these pages from the nav bar the links will not work.  The only links that will work are the original ones i set up.  Hope somone can help............

  • Setting CSS link properties in Dreamweaver CS4

    I'm a Dreamweaver CS4 newbie working on my first page. I'm setting the link <a> properties for my page, and while I understand how to set them manually by writing them into the CSS file, I'm wondering if there's a way to set them using Dreamweaver's usual, more "automatic" methods.
    For example, if I choose New CSS Rule, the dialogue box comes up where I can choose Tag, then choose "a" from the list of Selectors. But is there a way using this New CSS Rule box to create rules for a:hover, a:visited and a:active? Or do I just have to write those manually in my CSS file?
    Sorry for such a basic question. I did a search here and came up empty.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Fix Dreamweaver CS4 Color Eyedropper Bug

    Dreamweaver locks up when using the eyedropper from the CSS
    panel to select/match a color from any object in Design view.
    Easiest to explain by describing a split view. Dreamweaver locks
    every time -- when placing cursor in a background color code in a
    style sheet, then going to the CSS panel and selecting the
    background color swatch for that style, then with the eyedropper,
    touching a color in the Design view part of the split screen.
    Dreamweaver CS3 never locked up when performing these same
    steps. Dreamweaver CS4, locks up whether selecting a color in a
    bitmap or a CSS background color that is displayed in the Design
    split view. Means I have to go to Fireworks to color match, and if
    the color I want is in a range of a gradient, I have to make the
    gradient a bitmap before selecting the spot with the eyedropper. I
    even had some difficulty in Fireworks, as the selection wouldn't
    show up in the color panel when I touched the bitmap with the
    eyedropper. I could see the color code in the popup color selector
    and clicked there for the color to show up in Fireworks' color
    panel.
    Kind of a hassle...would be nice to get an update fix for
    this.

  • Playing multiple videos on the same page in Dreamweaver CS4?

    Suppose on my website, I have a few dozen videos, all of them embedded YouTube videos. When the user goes to the page, Video 1 is up and ready to be played. Below Video 1 is a list of the other videos (Video 2, Video 3, and so on), each with a thumbnail picture. When the user clicks this thumbnail page, the new video is loaded (eg: if they click on the thumbnail for Video 2, Video 2 is up and ready to be played).
    What do I do in Dreamweaver CS4 so the new video loads without redirecting the user to another page? With so many videos, I imagine that it isn't efficient to have a separate page for each video.

    Hi
    You can do this by using an xml playlist for your videos, (do a search for "creating flash xml playlists").

  • Error Installing Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7: Installer Database is Corrupt

    Error Message: The Installer Database is Corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service.
    I bought a new laptop and would like to install Dreamweaver CS4 on it. It is already running fine on my desktop, being installed back in 1/2011. Both PCs are Windows 7 but the new laptop is Windows 7 Professional.  I have downloaded the two install files ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.7z and ADBEDRWVCS4_LS1.exe multiple ways and to multiple locatons on the laptop. I've run the .exe file multiple ways and extracted to several locations besides the default (c:\users\userid\Desktop\Adobe CS4). After the extract completes and it tries to run setup I get the same message "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please Contact Adobe Customer Service" (which I did and they just gave me another download link I had already tried).
    I even copied the folder with the extracted files done on my desktop (where the install had succeeded). And still got the same message when I ran setup.exe on the laptop. I tried running it with a "run as administrator" command prompt, double-clicking in Windows Explorer, start > run and the same thing happens. At least it doesn't appear that it has actually installed anything yet.
    I did notice that my new PC has a program called "7-zip 9.20" installed which I do not remember installing and its install date is prior to my purchase of the PC so I'm guessing it came with it (HP Pavilion 15t running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit). The Windows 7 Desktop does not have this program installed. It is available from C|net where it has a good rating. Perhaps setup.exe does further extracting and the 7-zip program is the culprit? This is a long shot.
    I searched for others with this problem and found lots of issues installing Dw CS4, but none quite like this.

    Awesome! That worked! Actually I searched three folders (Program Files, Program Files (x86) & Program Data) for caps.db and found:
    c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premier Elements\caps.db (dated 9/2/2011)
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Backup\caps.db
    I ignored the first one since it might be needed by the Premier Elements 10 I installed yesterday and changed the name of the other one from caps.db to barb.fix.
    I changed the install folder from c:\Program Files\Adobe to c:\Program Files (x86) just in case CS4 is a 32-bit application which I had done before when installing on my Windows7 Desktop. Now that the install has completed I see that I have caps.db files dated 5/5/2014 in
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db (barb.fix is still there but is only 26kb vs 3291 kb for the new caps.db)
    Thank-you so much! Now wish me luck when I try to open it for the first time!

    Go to line 188. Change:
    eval("opts = " + args[ 1 ]);
    to:
    try { eval("opts = " + args[ 1 ]); } catch(e) { opts = null; }
    Save the file.
    Edit SpryCollapsiblePanelDesignTime.js and make the following changes:
    THIS DOES NOT EXIST IN THE FILE IN CS4
    Go to line 188. Change:
    eval("opts = " + args[ 1 ]);
    to:
    try { eval("opts = " + args[ 1 ]); } catch(e) { opts = null; }
    Save the file.
    Launch Dreamweaver and verify that you can now load your file.
    Any other solutions?

    I have resolved the editingutils.js by breaking up the forms, but it is not the solution I'm really looking for.
    Each of the 6 forms on seperate pages are 450 lines of code.
    Form sample.
    http://irexs.com/betatest001/can/listCANCommercial.cfmhttp://www.irexs.com/betatest001/
    I want to be able to have multiple forms on one page, nested in spry collapsible panels.
    I'm using DW CS4 and Coldfusion 8 server, forms utilize SPRY form fields (not cfforms).
    In order to reslove the editingutils.js I had to break up the forms, but have considered an alternate solution.
    In each panel the forms are nested via cfinculdes; structure as follows.
    <div col panel>
         <div col panel content>
              <form spry fields>
                   <cfincludes location form file>
                   <cfincludes details form file>
              <form end>
         <dev col panel content ent>
    <div col panel end>
    WHAT I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH is as follows.
    Sample page
    http://irexs.com/betatest001/can/listCAN.cfm
    Forms are to be inserted in the panel content section as described above.
    ISSUES ARE:
    I have limited JavaScript knowledge.
    For the forms to work i require the the panels in closed state at page load: This is done.
    ON FORM SUBMIT, I need the panel to stay OPEN, when client side or server side submit requires correction to the form.
    What happens now is the page refreshes and the panel closes: the default state.
    SOLUTION DESIRED, is to have the selected panel to stay open and the input information to remain when form is submitted.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and PHP require_once, require, include_once, include absolute paths

    I have a question about Dreamweaver CS4's new functionality that lists required and included files in a second row below the name of the file you are currently editing. It's handy.
    I see that Dreamweaver attempts to list all the included files for a given page so that it is easier to find and edit those files.
    For example.  If I had a HTML document called index.html that linked to a CSS document called style.css, when I open index.html, Dreamweaver CS4 lists style.css in a row below index.html.
    My problem is this.  This new functionality works on absolute paths and relative paths for HTML elements. For example, it can find and link to CSS files regardless of if the src tag is relative  or absolute (/css/style.css)
    REFRESHER: absolute paths start with a "/" as in "/css/style.css" and relative paths do not start with a "/" as in "css/style.css" or "../../css/style.css"
    However, PHP files that are linked to the current page via require, require_once, include, or include_once, only appear to work if you use a relative path.
    So this would work in Dreamweaver:
    require_once('../lib/config.php');
    But this would not
    require_once('/home/matt/mydomain.com/html/lib/config.php');
    As any PHP developer knows, you are never supposed to use relative paths with included or required files.  Especially if your site has multiple levels of sub directories.  Relative paths are relative to the calling php document.  It causes a bunch of problems.  I can explain how if you want.
    How can I tell Dreamweaver that the base directory on my apache web server for my domain...
    /home/matt/mydomain.com/html/
    ... is the equivalent of the base directory on my home computer where dreamweaver accesses my files.
    C:\Users\Matt\Documents\My Websites\mydomain.com\
    So that when I write...
    require_once('/home/matt/mydomain.com/html/lib/config.php');
    ... how can I force dreamweaver understand that "/home/matt/mydomain.com/html/" is the same as "C:\Users\Matt\Documents\My Websites\mydomain.com\" on my home computer. So that way, this new Dreamweaver CS4 submenu feature can find and link to the correct file.
    Essentially, can I define Dreamweaver "include paths" for Dreamweaver to search in if the file I'm trying to include is not in the same directory?

    Perhaps you ought to inform the PHP documentation team. All the examples in the PHP manual use relative paths.

    Dreamweaver parses only relative paths in PHP includes. The Related Files feature was a new addition in Dreamweaver CS4, so it's not 100% perfect. Having the ability to define your own include_path for Dreamweaver to parse would be a useful improvement.
