Multiple Column selection in single selection

I have made an report using Pivot table
I have 6 Dim & 1 fact
out of this I have placed 3 Dim in Pages tab of pivot table so that it will work like Prompt
Now the user wants to swap the tables dynamically
I have Column selector for this purpose but user has to select 6 tables which is not acceptable
can I achive this with only one selection
Hope I am clear on requirement
Thanks & Regards
Sameer

Can you try the same using view selector, pull all columns in criteria based on the view use those columns per view.
Pls mark if helps

  • Merge statement - update multiple columns from a single sub-select

    Is it possible to write in 10gR2, a MERGE statement, with UPDATE for multiple columns from a single sub_select?
    like this:
    MERGE INTO tableA
    using ( select * from temp) tmp
    on( tableA. col1 = tmp.col1)
    when matched then
    update set  ( tableA.col5,
                       tableA.col6,
                       tableA.col7) = ( select sum(col2), sum(col3), sum(col5)
                                                                                 from tableX
                                                                                where tableX.col1 = tableA.col1...)

    Hi,
    The USING clause is not a sub-query, so it can't reference columns from tables that are not in it.
    Include tableA in the USING clause if you really need to refer to it there. (It's not obvious that you do.)
    As always, it helps if you post:
    (1) The version of Oracle (and any other relevant software) you're using
    (2) A little sample data (just enough to show what the problem is) from all the relevant tables
    (3) The results you want from that data (In the case of a DML statement, such as MERGE, this will be the state of the tables when everything is finished.)
    (4) Your best attempt so far (formatted)
    (5) The full error message (if any), including line number
    Executable SQL statements (like "CREATE TABLE AS ..." or "INSERT ..." statements) are best for (2).
    If you can present your problem using commonly available tables (for example, tables in scott schema, or views in the data dictionary), then you can omit (2).
    Formatted tabular output is okay for (3).

  • Select or deselect multiple rows with one single selection  event

    Does anyone know how to create a JTable which can select or deselect multiple rows with one single selection event in JTable. Fore example, if the table has
    row1
    row2
    row3
    row4
    row5
    row6
    What I need is when user select row1 or row2, both row1 and row2 should be set to be selected. Then if user press CTRL and click one of row3 or row4, both of them should be selected including the previouse selected row1 and row2.
    For deselection, if row1 and row2 are selected, when users deselect one of row1 or row2, both of them should be deselected.
    Hopefully someone can give me a hint.

    Here is a partial solution using a JList. Only one line gets highlighted when the user makes a selection in the list. But, two lines are returned. There is a blank line between every two lines.
         private void addLineToList() {
              String a = f_one.getText();
              String b = f_two.getText();
              if (a.length() == 0) {
                   Utils.showInformationMessage("Item field is empty.");
                   f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              if (b.length() == 0) {
                   Utils.showInformationMessage("Match field is empty.");
                   f_two.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              model.addElement("item: " + a);
              model.addElement("match: " + b);
              model.addElement(" ");
              int size = model.getSize();
              pairList.setSelectedIndex(size - 3);
              f_one.setText("");
              f_two.setText("");
              f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
         private void editList() {
              if (pairList.getSelectedValue().toString().equalsIgnoreCase(" ")) {
                   Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
                   f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              if (!f_one.getText().equals("")) {
                   int result = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(this,
                   "The Item field contains text. Replace the text?",
                   "Flash Card Activity", JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION,
                   OptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
                   if (result == JOptionPane.NO_OPTION) return;
              if (!f_two.getText().equals("")) {
                   int result = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(this,
                   "The Match field contains text. Replace the text?",
                   "Flash Card Activity", JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION,
                   JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
                   if (result == JOptionPane.NO_OPTION) return;
              String item = "";
              String match = "";
              int index = pairList.getSelectedIndex();
              String choice = model.getElementAt(index).toString();
              if (choice.startsWith("item")) {
                   item = choice;
                   match = model.getElementAt(index + 1).toString();
                   model.remove(index);
                   model.remove(index);
                   model.remove(index);
              else {
                   item = model.getElementAt(index - 1).toString();
                   match = choice;
                   model.remove(index + 1);
                   model.remove(index);
                   model.remove(index - 1);
              int size = model.getSize();
              if (size > 2) {
                   pairList.setSelectedIndex(size - 2);
              f_one.setText(item.substring(6));
              f_two.setText(match.substring(7));
              f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
         }

I would store it as a date column and add a check constraint to ensure that the date is always the first of the month, then format it out as you wish to the client.

  • Displaying data from multiple columns into a single line graph

    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hey,I have an issue with the WEBI reporting.I have a data source that has multiple columns say ( month1, month2, month3, month4,.....month 12, month 13, ....month24) with the sales data for each month.Now say I call the month 1 to month 12 as "current year", and call month 13 - month 24 as "previous year".I want to put a prompt in the report which allows  me to select between "current year" and "previous year".Based on the prompt value we get a graph of the sales vs month ....as in if we select  "current year", then we get a graph of the sales Vs time( remember that the sales data for each month is in a different column.)and if we select  "previous year" then we get a graph of the sales Vs time for previous year..( sales vs time for Month 13, month 14, month 15....month 24).I am not able to pull data from multiple columns into a single object that I can use to populate the graphs.Any help on the same will be appreciated .

  • HOW CAN I  USE MULTIPLE INNERJOINS IN A SINGLE SELECT STATEMENT?

    HI,
    I AM SHABEER AHMED,
    I AM GETTING AN ERROR WHILE I ATTEMPT TO EXECUTE A SELECT STATEMENT WITH MULTIPLE INNER JOINS . BECOZ I WANT TO FETCH ITEM DATA, PARTNER DATA  BASED ON HEADER DATA .
    THEN OF COURSE I HAVE FETCH DATA FROM VBAK VBAP VBKD SO LZ SEND ME THE SOLUTION.
    BYE

    Hi,
    1.Just see this:
    SELECT * INTO CORRESPONDING FIELD OF TABLE itab
    FROM t1 INNER JOIN t2 ON t1f4 EQ t2f4
    INNER JOIN t3 ON t2f5 EQ t3f5 AND
    t2f6 EQ t3f6 AND
    t2f7 EQ t3f7.
    2.But better to use for all entries.It increases the performance.
    FOR ALL ENTRIES
    Tabular Conditions
    The WHERE clause of the SELECT statement has a special variant that allows you to derive conditions from the lines and columns of an internal table:
    SELECT ... FOR ALL ENTRIES IN <itab> WHERE <cond> ...
    <cond> may be formulated as described above. If you specify a field of the internal table <itab> as an operand in a condition, you address all lines of the internal table. The comparison is then performed for each line of the internal table. For each line, the system selects the lines from the database table that satisfy the condition. The result set of the SELECT statement is the union of the individual selections for each line of the internal table. Duplicate lines are automatically eliminated from the result set. If <itab> is empty, the addition FOR ALL ENTRIES is disregarded, and all entries are read.
    The internal table <itab> must have a structured line type, and each field that occurs in the condition <cond> must be compatible with the column of the database with which it is compared. Do not use the operators LIKE, BETWEEN, and IN in comparisons using internal table fields. You may not use the ORDER BY clause in the same SELECT statement.
    You can use the option FOR ALL ENTRIES to replace nested select loops by operations on internal tables. This can significantly improve the performance for large sets of selected data.
    Example for ALL ENTRIES
    DATA: TAB_SPFLI TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI,
    TAB_SFLIGHT TYPE SORTED TABLE OF SFLIGHT
    WITH UNIQUE KEY TABLE LINE,
    WA LIKE LINE OF TAB_SFLIGHT.
    SELECT CARRID CONNID
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE TAB_SPFLI
    FROM SPFLI
    WHERE CITYFROM = 'NEW YORK'.
    SELECT CARRID CONNID FLDATE
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE TAB_SFLIGHT
    FROM SFLIGHT
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN TAB_SPFLI
    WHERE CARRID = TAB_SPFLI-CARRID AND
    CONNID = TAB_SPFLI-CONNID.
    LOOP AT TAB_SFLIGHT INTO WA.
    AT NEW CONNID.
    WRITE: / WA-CARRID, WA-CONNID.
    ENDAT.
    WRITE: / WA-FLDATE.
    ENDLOOP.
    INNER JOINS
    In a relational database, you normally need to read data simultaneously from more than one database table into an application program. You can read from more than one table in a single SELECT statement, such that the data in the tables all has to meet the same conditions, using the following join expression:
    SELECT...
    FROM <tab> INNER JOIN <dbtab> AS <alias> ON <cond> <options>
    where <dbtab> is a single database table and <tab> is either a table or another join expression. The database tables can be specified statically or dynamically as described above. You may also use aliases. You can enclose each join expression in parentheses. The INNER addition is optional.
    A join expression links each line of <tab> with the lines in <dbtab> that meet the condition <cond>. This means that there is always one or more lines from the right-hand table that is linked to each line from the left-hand table by the join. If <dbtab> does not contain any lines that meet the condition <cond>, the line from <tab> is not included in the selection.
    The syntax of the <cond> condition is like that of the WHERE clause, although individual comparisons can only be linked using AND. Furthermore, each comparison must contain a column from the right-hand table <dbtab>. It does not matter on which side of the comparison it occurs. For the column names in the comparison, you can use the same names that occur in the SELECT clause, to differentiate columns from different database tables that have the same names.
    The comparisons in the condition <cond> can appear in the WHERE clause instead of the ON clause, since both clauses are applied equally to the temporary table containing all of the lines resulting from the join. However, each join must contain at least one comparison in the condition <cond>.
    Example for INNER JOINS
    REPORT demo_select_inner_join.
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
    carrid TYPE spfli-carrid,
    connid TYPE spfli-connid,
    fldate TYPE sflight-fldate,
    bookid TYPE sbook-bookid,
    END OF wa,
    itab LIKE SORTED TABLE OF wa
    WITH UNIQUE KEY carrid connid fldate bookid.
    SELECT pcarrid pconnid ffldate bbookid
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE itab
    FROM ( ( spfli AS p
    INNER JOIN sflight AS f ON pcarrid = fcarrid AND
    pconnid = fconnid )
    INNER JOIN sbook AS b ON bcarrid = fcarrid AND
    bconnid = fconnid AND
    bfldate = ffldate )
    WHERE p~cityfrom = 'FRANKFURT' AND
    p~cityto = 'NEW YORK' AND
    fseatsmax > fseatsocc.
    LOOP AT itab INTO wa.
    AT NEW fldate.
    WRITE: / wa-carrid, wa-connid, wa-fldate.
    ENDAT.
    WRITE / wa-bookid.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Selecting data from Multiple Partitions in a single select stmt.

    Hi all,
    My Database is very large & my tables are partitioned.
    My question is:
    1) If my data is spread across multiple partitions, is there any way to select data from multiple partitions in a single query?
    If we dont mention partition name also it works fine, but perofmance wise it will be very slow. (Using EXPLAIN PLAN)
    (Note:I dont want to make use of Union concept, i want to do it in a single select statement)
    For ex:
    qry1.sql:
    select empno from emp_trans partition (P012000)
    This above query(qry1.sql) will work fine.
    qry2.sql:
    select empno from emp_trans partition (P012000,P022000)
    The above query(qry2.sql) will return will return the following error:
    ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    If anybody has any solution for this, pls mail me immediately.
    Thanks in advance
    bye
    null

    All my queries are dynamically generated. All my tables are also indexed partition wise based on date field. My question is, if i want to mention multiple partition names at the time of generating my query(select), then with parformance will be good. I have refered some books, inthat what they say is to use UNION concept, i dont want to use that, instead i want in a single select statement.
    Thaks for ur reply

  • Displaying multiple columns of a single column query

    Would anyone happen to know how to display a result set in multiple horizontal columns as opposed to a single vertical column in ApEx?
    Example:
    select server_name from owner.servers;
    A normal sql report would return:
    server1
    server2
    server3
    server4
    server5
    server6
    What I'm looking for is a return that will display:
    server1 server2 server3
    server4 server5 server6

    I'm sure there's a much better way, but one thing that popped into my head was to make your report be a Dynamic PL/SQL Region.
    If you loop thru the records in a cursor, you can build a string and once you have "three" records, use the htp.p to print it out.
    So something like this maybe:
    v_count NUMBER(1);
    v_data SERVERS.SERVER_NAME%TYPE;
    v_string VARCHAR2(100);
    CURSOR getdata IS
    SELECT server_name
    FROM servers
    ORDER BY server_name;
    BEGIN
    v_count := 0;
    OPEN getdata;
    LOOP
    FETCH getdata INTO v_data;
    EXIT WHEN getdata%NOTFOUND;
    v_count := v_count + 1;
    IF v_count = 1 THEN
    v_string := rpad(v_data,25,' ');
    ELSIF v_count = 4 THEN
    htp.p(v_string);
    v_count := 1;
    v_string := rpad(v_data,25,' ');
    ELSE
    v_string := v_string||rpad(v_data,25,' ');
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE getdata;
    END;
    Variable lengths would need to be adjusted to fit your data, but you get the idea (hopefully).
    Again, perhaps it's not the most efficient, but it would work.

    a.code=b.code
    I want to use the CASE statement one time not twice to fetch the required for Example1 and Example 2
    Can it be possibleb?
    Kindly any help will be benefitial to me

    >
    I want to use the CASE statement one time not twice to fetch the required for Example1 and Example 2
    Can it be possibleb?
    >
    No - A CASE result is a singel statement and in a SELECT must be a single value.
    So 'COLA' is ok but 'COLA, DATEA' will not work.
    Just use the CASE once for each column like you are doing.

  • SQL Help with change multiple columns into a single column

    I am wanting to create either a new View or a new Table based on the following original table:
    Original Table:
    Fiscal Year
    Account
    Budget_Amt_January
    Budget_Amt_February
    Budget_Amt_March
    Budget_Amt_April
    <etc. for each of the 12 months)
    I want the new View or Table to instead be:
    New:
    Fiscal_Year
    Month
    Account
    Budget_Amount
    I can't simply drop the original table, it will have to always exist since it is part of the Finance package, but for ease of reporting against I am wanting to create this new View.
    Any ideas on how to go about this?
    Thanks!

    I had to do something very similar just this week - in my case a record read from a csv into a table, then needs loading into a destination table, and the rows are columns in the csv. I went for INSERT ALL as I also had some conditions.

    Hi,
    So, you want to put the column values in alphabetic order, with the earliest value in c1_type and the last in c9_type, is that it?
    The fact that you even want to do this says that this is a bad table design.  If sorting the values makes sense, then putting them all in the same column on 9 different rows (rather than 9 different columns on 1 row) makes sense.
    If you're stuck with the current design, then use SELECT ... UNPIVOT to put them on separate rows, then use the analytic ROW_NUMBER function to assign numbers 1-9 to each value, and finally use SELECT ... PIVOT to put them back into 1 row in that order.  If you're not familiar with the built-in UNPIVOT and PIVOT features, look them up in the SQL Language manual, and see the forum FAQ:
    https://forums.oracle.com/message/9362005
    If you get stuck, post your best attempt (formatted), the exact results you want (formatted), and your Oracle version (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).
    Also, TYPE is an Oracle keyword, so it's not a good table name.  Use something like location_type instead.

  • Multiple columns within a single text frame

    Is it at all possible to make a single text frame containing first a single column followed by two columns?
    Why: I need to have my heading expanding across my two column body text. What's important is that I need the two column body text to automatically drop whenever I type (or paste) in more text in my heading. Like it would if the heading and body text was in a single column.
    My text frame options (I work in CS3) do not give me this option, I can only work in one "frame set". I have tried fixing this problem with combinations of tables, multiple text frames and text wrap, but nothing really works.

    Thank you Peter.
    Yes I did try it.
    InDesign CS3 just gives me this alert:
    I also tryed copying the files (HeadStraddler.jsx and HeadStraddler.indl) into a folder like you suggested.
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS3\Scripts\Scripts Panel\Version 4.0 Scripts\HeadStraddlerForCS2.
    But I just get the same alert.

  • Turning multiple columns in to single column

    Hi,
    I need to have the output like this
    Source
    Table desc: ABC
    NAME varchar2(50)
    ID1 Raw
    ID2 Raw
    ID3 Raw
    ID4 Raw
    ID5 Raw
    select * from ABC;
    NAME ID1 ID2 ID3 ID4 ID5 ..... etc
    Clerk 100 110 222 800 950
    Required Output:
    Table desc :XYX
    ID RAW
    SEQ NUMBER
    select * from XYZ:
    ID SEQ
    100 1
    110 2
    222 2
    800 3
    950 4

    May use listtag example below:
    select
    deptno,
    listagg (ename, ',')
    WITHIN GROUP
    (ORDER BY ename) enames
    FROM
    emp
    GROUP BY
    deptno
    DEPTNO ENAMES
    10 CLARK,KING,MILLER
    20 ADAMS,FORD,JONES,SCOTT,SMITH
    30 ALLEN,BLAKE,JAMES,MARTIN,TURNER,WARD
