Multiple Dimension using EVDRE

Hello,
Can you kindly confirm if its possible to use EVDRE to generate a report using multiple dimension in one column and another set of dimensions in the next column?
Example:
  Row= Account
ColumnA=  Version: Actual and Time:  2009. Jan.
Column B:  Version:  Budget and Time:  2008. Jan
Thanks,
Katherine

Thanks for below advise but when I tried to test it, it seems that it resulted to duplicate column.
PARAMETER     EXPANSION 1     EXPANSION 2     EXPANSION 3
ExpandIn                      COL                        COL                      ROW
Dimension                      CATEGORY        TIME                      ACCOUNT
MemberSet     ACTUAL|BUDGET     2008.JAN              SELF
BeforeRange
AfterRange     Sheet1!$B$37:$B$38
Suppress
Insert
The end result is
          ACTUAL                  EV_AFTER               BUDGET     EV_AFTER
          2008.JAN                  EV_AFTER               2008.JAN     EV_AFTER
          Actual from GL     Variance              BUDGET     Variance
          2008 JAN                  actual-budget          2008.JAN     actual-budget
ExtSales          200.00           50                150                   50
But I only need the 3 columns, is there a formula I can use to supress the unnecessary columns its of manually deleting it?
Thanks,
Katherine

  • Multiple Dimension Builds using MAXL

    We currently use ESSCMND to perform multiple dimension builds and data loads. We have been using the "INCBUILDDIM" in Escmnd to update the outline with multiple files without restructuring until the last file. Is there an equivalent command for MAXL ??

    Yes, you can mimic the BEGININCBUILDDIM command from ESSCMD in version 6.5. I've appended a sample script below to show that functionality. Until you upgrade to V6.5 you could shell to Esscmd and do your dim builds there. login 'xxx' 'PASSWORD' on 'LOCALHOST'; spool on to 'd:\ESSBASE\CLIENT\OUTPUT.LOG'; alter system load application 'SAMPTEST'; alter application 'SAMPTEST' load database 'BASIC'; import database 'SAMPTEST'.'BASIC' dimensions from server text data_file 'ACCTBLD1.TXT' using server rules_file 'ACTBLD.RUL', from server text data_file 'ACCTBLD2.TXT' using server rules_file 'ACTBLD.RUL' preserve all data on error append to 'ERR.OUT'; spool off; logout; exit;

  • Dimensions not visible while using EVDRE

    Hi,
    For our legal application while using EVDRE, the dimensions do not come up to drag and drop. We tried using EVDRE for some other application within the same application set and it works fine. The problem persists only for this application. We have processed all the dimensions being used in this application and also optimized the application fully. Still it does'nt solve the problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Abhi

    Abhinav,
    Under BPC Administration, look for the application parameters: YTD Input. This has to be Yes or NO and should not to be N/A. See if its NA and change it appropiately. This will solve the issue.

  • Hierarchies using Multiple Dimensions

    Just posting this out there if there is any way to create hierarchies/ drill paths leveraging multiple dimensions? e.g. Columns A from DIM1 (parent) drills down to Column B from DIM2 (child). The model is a simple star wherein the two dimensions are joined through a fact.

    Hi,
    Thanks for responding.
    As of last evening we tried creating multiple physical layer alias's of the dim tables in question such that we could create mutiple hierarchies for varied drill downs with "preffered drill paths". While doing the same we kind of figured out the same as to why head down that route wherein we could just have 4 aliases for 2 dimension tables and make use of a single LTS name within a logical table with multiple sources. This way using a single LTS name with multiple source joins, we could solve this.
    Thanks. I will mark as helpful since if I had read it earlier it would have directed us in the right direction much faster.

  • MAXL - using multiple Dimension build rules in single script...

    I seem to be having problems running multiple Dimension build rules in a single MAXL script, is this a known problem or just an issue that I'm having? The build rules independently work as designed but when joined into a single script the script hangs...
    So, this is a 2 part question...
    1) Does MAXL not play nice when using multiple Dimension load rules in a single script?
    2) Do I need to run the build rules independent of each other?
    Also, is there some type of refresh/update on the cube that you can use in the script and would it be necessary...?
    Thanks for any light you can shed on the issue.
    Adam,

    I've written multiple dimension build statements as a part of 1 long MaxL statement. I'm executing this MaxL via a shell script (that replaces the variables such as username, password, servername, file path etc.) I've not seen any issues doing so.
    However, I've noted that, number of imports statements in 1 single MaxL command does not bode well for more than *60* import statements at once. So, if you're using more than 60 source files to build your dimensions, please consider breaking up your MaxL into multiple statements.
    Note: All but last of the import statements have 'deferred' re-structure specified. It speeds up the build process.

  • Report with multiple dimensions in Row and Column with EvEXP

    Hi
    We are currently running BPC 7.0 SP3 and try to create the report(or schedule) with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column.
    e.g.
    row dimension : Outer row is Entity, Inner row is Account
    column dimension : Outer column is Time, Inner row is Category
    We created the report with  2 x 2 dimensions like above e.g. with EvEXP and EvNXP, NOT EvDRE
    based on default dynamic template:Template13.xlt(Nested Row, 2 x 1 dimensions defined by EvEXP and EvNXP formula).
    However, when expanding the dimension with double click these dimensions or change CV of the report with  2 x 2 dimensions defined by EvEXP and EvNXP formula,
    error occurs on EvEXP and EvNXP formula and can't retrieve the result correctly.
    [Question]
    Can't we create the report with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column using EvEXP and EvNXP function ?
    We understand that we can make the report with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column if using EvDRE.
    Thank You in advance
    Kenya

    Thank you for your advice.
    I understand that we should use EvDRE when creating the report with multiple dimension in the row/column because EvEXP have some erros, poor performance, etc.
    Then, we have two questions.
    1)
    >plus they had some errors in the designs.
    what kind of errors they have as an example?
    2)
    >If you must build the EVEXP and EVNXP, I would suggest building the template from scratch
    We built the simple template with just 2 x 2 dimension from scratch.
    But this report doesn't work well when double-click the dimension or changing CV...
    Would you please check the following template?
    <https://sapmats-de.sap-ag.de/download/download.cgi?id=RCZE1ME4YSORY3DCDO4NNMANZLBL1L5ZBUOB2F71YVNVS8XDJW>
    It would be greatly appreciated if you could give me your advice for the template.
    Thank you again
    And my best regards,

  • How to Create an Input Schedule Comparison with Data Using EVDRE

    Hello,
    I try implement the scenario described in "How to Create an Input Schedule Comparison with Data Using EVDRE".
    Once I am using the "Insert Function" from the panel and selecting the EVTIM function Excel crashes (see page 8 How to paper).
    Systems:
    BPC 7.0 NW SP02
    Office 2007
    BPCADminClient and BPCOfficeClient up to date
    Have anyone a solution?
    Thanks
    Oktay

    Hi Oktay -
    This function works in my BPC70NW SP02 system. Your issue might be that you are trying to access a TIME member that does not exist. Please make sure the offset value is a valid dimension member.
    I can confirm that EVTIM does allow the offset for base members (such as 2009.MAY) as well as parent nodes (such as 2009.Q1 or 2008.TOTAL)... BUT...the offset result of the EVTIM function needs to be a valid dimension member!

  • How to filter out multiple rows , using multiple selection criteria ?

    Dear Expert's,
    I am stuck with a problem while designing my dasboard.
    I have data in the following format.
    Year - Quarter - Customer - Division - KF1 - KF2
    2005 - Q1 - SAP - Consulting - 10 - 20
    2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10
    2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11
    2006 - Q2 - RAM - Jets - 11 - 11
    What i wish to do, is to create radio box(for selection) to choose any Year, Quarter , Customer & Division
    eg if the user chooses 2005 , i want to display 3 line entries
    2005 - Q1 - SAP - Consulting - 10 - 20
    2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10
    2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11
    if the user further selects quarter - Q2 (without disturbing the selection on for year ) the result should be
    2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10
    2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11
    If the selection from year is removed (still maintaining the selection on quarter Q2 ) the result should show
    2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10
    2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11
    2006 - Q2 - RAM - Jets - 11 - 11
    Simply i need to create a filer for all the fields.
    The issue that i am facing with filer component is that - 1 - it returns only one desitnation row , 2 - you can only get Key values in result set
    Issue with combo box is i cannot select multiple fields (dimensions) using it .
    Please suggets .
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Ankit,
    There is a workarround that requires some excel work.
    Here you need to follow the above mentioned steps along with this you need an additional combo box (wont be displayed at runtime, it will fetch the entire data if we select blank for the first combo box).
    Now suppose we are using 2 combobox C1 and C2 and our data is from B3 to F6.
    Now for C1 (one we are using for selection)
    1. select the labels as Sheet1!$B$2:$B$6 (a blank cell is added for all selection)
    2. Insertion type as filtered Rows
    3. Take source data as Sheet1!$B$2:$F$6 (includeing one blank row)
    4. selected Items as none
    5. for C2 labels as Sheet1!$A$3:$A$6 source data as Sheet1!$B$3:$F$6 destination as Sheet1!$B$14:$F$17.
    6. Selected Item : Sheet1!$B$9  (blank  Type dynamic). So it will select the entire table, if nothing is selected.
    7. take a Grid component and map it to Sheet1!$H$9:$L$12. use formula as =IF(IF($B$9="",B14,B9)=0,"",IF($B$9="",B14,B9)) on cell H9. Where we take H6 to L12 as final data set. Tis will become the data for next set fo Combo box for further selection.
    8. follow the same steps for other combobox selections.
    9. control the dynamic visibility of grids on the basis of Destination cell (like B9).
    Revert if you need further clarification.

    Debjit

  • Is it possible to  add multiples dimension objects in Webi Ranking ?

    As per the project requirement we need to convert custom sqls to reporting sql in webi 3.1 sp5 .
    Is it possible to  add multiple dimension objects while applying ranking (Webi query panel ).
    Or is there any other way to achieve this feature in BO ?
    Regards,
    Pranay

    Hi ,
    There is a way if you want to apply ranking within a ranking . Below are the steps:
    First on the outer side we can use the Rank feature which is available directly
    Then use the Rank Function (=rank ()) and reset your dimension accordingly .
    This kind of Ranking is possible.

  • Multiple Dimensions In Oracle DBI

    hi i'm working on Oracle EBS ERP R12
    i have created lots of report in oracle dbi R12
    the dashboard output like this
    INV_NAME----qty---------rate
    HR C12----------5-------------0.6
    i want multiple dimension .. like this
    INV_NAME-------UOM----------QTY---------RATE
    HR C12-------------KGS----------5----------------0.6

    I suppose it depends on your definition of the terminology.
    Here is Oracle's definition of each:
    Instance: Consists of the SGA Memory structure and background processes used to manage a database. An instance is identified byusign methods specific to each operating system. The instance can open and use only one database at a time.
    Database: An Oracle database is a collection of data that is treated as a unit. The general purpose of a database is to store and retrieve related information. The database has a logical structure and a physical structure. The physical structure of the database is the set of operating syste files in the database. An Oracle database consists of three files types: Data files, Redo Logs, Control Files. (note: parameter file, password file, and archive logs are not considered part of the database)
    So to answer your questions, if you have two separate Oracle instances on your machine, I would say you have both two instances and two databases.

  • AWM Calculated Measure for Percent of Total Across Multiple Dimensions?

    I noticed that AWM has a Share function that gives me a percent total of a grain from a specific hierarchy's Top of Hierarchy, but is there any way to do that with multiple dimensions? For example, if I had a Share of Dimension X = 55% Where Time = 1/1/2013 and a Share of Dimension Y = 32% Where Time = 1/1/2013, then could I have a Share of both Dimension X and Dimension Y = 16% Where Time = 1/1/2013?

    I had used an alternate solution which is a bit more cumbersome using native OLAP_DML formulae/expression.
    The above expression using OLAP Expression Syntax is much better (if it works).
    I was not aware of this OLAP expression syntax when i needed to create a kpi for similar requirement.
    We had Qty measure and Share along dimension like "Qty - Share at Year level", "Qty - Share of Total Customer".
    We needed to get "Qty - Share at Total Customer, Year".
    Cube= SALESCUBE
    Base Meas = QTY
    Step 1) Create Measure which represents "Qty - Total Customer, Year" which will work in any reporting context ...
    Note: For time=day1/2/3/ within same year and customer=cust1/2/3/... or Total Customer, the expression result will be constant (result fixed for any dimension members/status along the 2 dimensions - TIME and CUST). Denominator Value changes each year since we have constrainted time dimension to the ancestor of current cell at YR level. If we choose anscestor at TOP level TOTTIME say then the value is fixed for all time dimension members/values.
    olap dml expression: QUAL(SALESCUBE_QTY, CUSTOMER limit(CUSTOMER to CUSTOMER_LEVELREL 'TCUST'), TIME limit(limit(TIME to ANCESTORS USING TIME_PARENTREL TIME(TIME TIME)) KEEP TIME_LEVELREL eq 'YR'))
    in awxml - this becomes:
    ETMeasureColumnName="QTY_TCUST_YR"
    Name="QTY_TCUST_YR"
    MeasureExpression="OLAP_DML_EXPRESSION(&apos;QUAL(SALESCUBE_QTY, CUSTOMER limit(CUSTOMER to CUSTOMER_LEVELREL &apos;&apos;TCUST&apos;&apos;), TIME limit(limit(TIME to ANCESTORS USING TIME_PARENTREL TIME(TIME TIME)) KEEP TIME_LEVELREL eq &apos;&apos;YR&apos;&apos;))&apos;, NUMBER)">
    <Classification
    Value="AwmDescriptionType=OLAP_DML_CALC"/>
    <Description
    Type="LongDescription"
    Language="AMERICAN"
    Value="Qty - Total Customer, Year">
    Step 2) Define the share measure explicitly since we have already calculated the denominator needed for composite share.
    Check for division by 0 error before performing the share calculation explicitly as Numerator= Qty (for current cell/reporting context) and Denominator = Qty - Total Customer, Year (from Step 1)
    olap dml expression: if SALESCUBE_QTY_TCUST_YR ne 0 then SALESCUBE_QTY / SALESCUBE_QTY_TCUST_YR else na
    in awxml - this becomes:
    ETMeasureColumnName="QTY_SHARE_TCUST_YR"
    Name="QTY_SHARE_TCUST_YR"
    MeasureExpression="OLAP_DML_EXPRESSION(&apos;if SALESCUBE_QTY_TCUST_YR ne 0 then SALESCUBE_QTY / SALESCUBE_QTY_TCUST_YR else na&apos;, NUMBER)">
    <Classification
    Value="AwmDescriptionType=OLAP_DML_CALC"/>
    <Description
    Type="LongDescription"
    Language="AMERICAN"
    Value="Qty - Share of Total Customer, Year">
    </Description>
    Report needs to use measure QTY_SHARE_TCUST_YR (Qty - Share of Total Customer, Year) defined in Step 2. It may be useful to expose/display intermediate measure QTY_TCUST_YR also so as to make the basis of calculation very clear to the user.
    Nick,
    If you customize above soln. to use Total Time, Total Prod and Total Organization (along 3 dimensions)... I am sure the fact table has a time dimension which should also be factored in in your calc/defn.
    If you have missed out the join to Time dimension from fact in your queries, in olap reporting terms, its similar to Time Dimension selection of Time level = TTIME Total Time (1 node at TOP).
    You need:
    Step 1) Qty - Total Time, Total Product and Total Org
    Step 2) Qty - Share of Total Time, Total Product and Total Org
    Then the example you gave should be covered via QTY and QTY_SHARE_TTIME_TPROD_TORG (Step 2)
    SUM(quantity)
    2875should be QTY, QTY_SHARE_TTIME_TPROD_TORG (=100%) at Time level = TTIME, Product level = TPROD, Org level = TORG
    SUM(quantity)
    345 [12% of all products sold]should be QTY, QTY_SHARE_TTIME_TPROD_TORG (=12% hopefully) at Time level = TTIME, Product level = PROD with report filter on product = 'CX-867054', Org level = TORG
    SUM(quantity)
    977 [34% of all products sold]should be QTY, QTY_SHARE_TTIME_TPROD_TORG (=34% hopefully) at Time level = TTIME, Product level = TPROD, Org level = STORE with report filter on store = 'NY_ALBA_013'
    SUM(quantity)
    88 [3.06% of all products sold]should be QTY, QTY_SHARE_TTIME_TPROD_TORG (=3.06% hopefully) at Time level = TTIME, Product level = PROD with report filter on product = 'CX-867054', Org level = STORE with report filter on store = 'NY_ALBA_013'

  • How to delete the members in one dimension use the maxl script

    i have question that i want to delete the members in one dimension useing the maxl script, but i do not know how to do it. can the maxl delete the members in one dimension? if can, please provide an sample script, thank you so mcuh.

    MaxL does not have commands to alter an outline directly, except the reset command which can delete all dimensions but not members selectively. The best you could do would be to run a rules file (import dimensions) using a file that contains the members you want to keepload rule for the dimension. As typical the warning is to test this first before you do it on a production database

  • Use evdre to query data from a SQL View

    Hi all
    I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?
    Regards,
    Byron

    Byron,  perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this.  However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file.  This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
    It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level.  Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME"  If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
    Also:  I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
    In your EVDRE, set the following options:
    QueryEngine: MANUAL
    QueryType:  enter either NEXJ  OR TUPLE  see below:
    NEXJ  - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
    TUPLE  - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
    And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
    QueryViewName
    "..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "
    Option SQLOnly
    "..to enforce the query engine to only execute SQL queries, when reading data. This can be achieved using this option."

       The first or only argument to this command includes a forward-path
       (normally a mailbox and domain, always surrounded by "&gt;" and "&lt;"
       brackets) identifying one recipient.In other words, you can only define a SINGLE mailbox address at a time. Multiple addresses requires multiple repeats of this command verb, once per maibox.
    Do not confuse this and the To: tag line in the Mime header that contains a comma delimited list of recipients. That tag line can contain anything - it is not parsed, not checked, and not verified as matching the actual recipient mailboxes as specified via the RCPT TO verb.

  • Adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?

    Hi All,
    I have a access database with two tables and I want to create a single form to enter data into that tables.
    How to adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?
    I don't have to much knowledge of access database?
    Please help me
    Thanks
    Balaji

    You really don't enter identical data into 2 tables.  You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).
    Maybe you need to read this.

    Think about it this way...  What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change.  WHOOPS!!  Now, you've got a BIG problem.  For instance, you have a customer
    named Bill Gates.  In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039.  Now you have 2 addresses for Bill.  Why would
    you want that???  Which is right?  No one knows.  If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
    and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.
    Post back with specific questions.
