Multiple hierarchy selection option - OBIEE Answers

Hi,
I have created an alternate drill path. I want the user to choose - which hierarchy the user wants to drill to
eg:
Total
--------------------------Country
---------------------------------------Region
------------------------------------------------District
------------------------------------------------------Customer
---------------------------------------Zone
------------------------------------------------State
------------------------------------------------------Customer
On the report, when the user clicks on the column Country, i want the user to show the option drill to either Region / State. Is that possible?? What properties do i need to set?
Thanks in adv

Snagzarkar

Well, multiple hierarchy drills are not available in 10g, but I think they are in 11g. But what you can do is create two child reports, one for Region and one for State. Set up Value Interaction>Navigation and put both reports in the paths. When the user clicks on the value in the parent report, a menu will pop up showing Region and State (assuming that is what you name your child reports).
The user can then choose his path and report.

  • Report help for multiple Date Select options

    Hi Friends,
For a particular year wise report, the client wants 12 date select-options which are changeable and informal every year .The report will also be displayed as per the given date selection period wise. Please help me how to fetch the datas from the table as per the given selection period. Currently the report have one date select-option where the user gives selection range as 1.04 to 31.03. It's related to EB power consumption report and hence the new requirement on date selection which are informal and not a fixed date of every year.
    Ex:Selection-Screen
    Period 1 : 08.04.2008 to 12.05.2008
    Period 2: 12.05.2008 to 20.06.2008
    Period 3: 21.06.2008 to 28.07.2008
    Period 4: 29.07.2008 to 15.08.2008
    Period 5: 15.08.2008 to 21.09.2008
    Period 6 : 21.09.2008 to 14.10.2008
The data will derive as per the above selection ranges.......
    Please advise with example.
    thanks & regards

    Hi,
In this case just derive all records matching dates between 08.04.2008 (low in first select-options) and 14.10.2008(high in last select-options.
Also my advice is to use a single select-options and prompt the user to give the dates as ranges in the multiple entries dialog which can be opened by clicking the button on the right side of the select-options.

  • MSS Time Approval - multiple (different) selection options for manager?

    Hi all
I am setting up MSS Time Approval delegation in ERP2005 without workflow, leave request, nor portal development environment set up.
In this case, the customer needs to have multiple selection options for who to approve:
    1. The manager's direct reports (standard functionality)
    2. All subordinates, all levels down
    3. Delegate's (manager or non-manager) view of a particular (other) manager's direct reports
3b. This might extend to a set of different delegation selections
    4. Add or remove certain individuals
Now, getting 3. and 4. to work was simple using the BAdI (I think the enhancement spot is named APPR_CUST), method ...-edit_selection, but I am having difficulties with 2. and 3b. Now I am thinking along these lines, and I would greatly appreciate your input:
    A. It seems that the MSS "Approve working time" app only loads the data selection at the entry into this screen (INIT command from portal), using the start perspective determined for example by the IMG for defining the approval profile <-> view. My debugging suggests that the view change from the drop down menu (CHANGE_PERSPECTIVE command) only picks a different way to present the same data set.
Could anybody please confirm or contradict this conclusion?
    B. Is it possible to present the entire "Approve working time" section in MSS in multiple different copies so that they would all generate an INIT command? Or is it possible to copy and modify the entire MSS tab, resulting in an ESS tab, one MSS, one "D"SS, one "A"SS (well, not suggesting that the top manager is one, but you get the drift...) and so on?
If either of this were possible, it would be simple to make two modifications, one at the beginning of the FM called by the portal and one at the FM that returns the start perspective.
So far I have been trying to catch and alter the CHANGE_PERSPECTIVE command into an INIT in the back end, but the Time Approval functionality is a bit too complex for me to feel entirely comfortable with this approach.
    Your input is much appreciated!
    Kind regards
    Niclas Arndt

We too are using MSS for time approval of time entered via ESS.  We are on ECC 6.0 for the backend (no enhancement packs, at least not yet), currently sp stack 10 with hrsp 24, and EP 7.0 with stack 10 for the ESS/MSS business packages.  We are using the standard MSS UWL functionality for the approval, so it is workflow-based in my understanding.
In other parts of MSS, the managers can see a few levels deep in the organization structure, based upon the definition we gave for their structural profiles.  For instance, in the team calendar/overview, or other team information, they have a choice for multiple levels or only direct reports.  However, in the time approval application, only direct reports are shown, so if a manager goes on vacation, at present the only way to cover time approvals for that manager's employees appears to be to temporarily assign a new 'chief' to that org unit, so HR involvement becomes necessary.  The manager doesn't have any method for delegating the approval or other MSS authorities.  We were hoping that by allowing multiple levels in the structural profile, such approvals would "roll up" to the next level, i.e. the manager's supervisor, so the next level manager could act as a backup to his/her managers on vacation.  That doesn't work, however.
We have heard that a delegation feature for MSS will be available in an upcoming release, but I haven't found any information regarding whether that requires an upgrade, an enhancement pack, a later service pack level, or what or when that functionality will be available.  Does anyone know anything about that?

  • DYNP_VALUES_READ Limitations for multiple lines select options

    Hi all !
First post here, but a tough one I think. Here is my inquiry :
I have worked on an specific abap function used in many long abap list reports. Theses reports are launched in background processing. The aim of this routine is to stop the report execution if a background job with the same selection parameters is already launched for the current user (to Prevent useless several launch of a time-expensive program).
Because this routine is dynamic, I read the selection screen of the current report with the function 'DYNP_VALUES_READ'. And I compare the result with the variant of the backgroung job (read with function 'RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS').
The real problem is that function "DYNP_VALUES_READ" only extract the first line of select-options. I found an alternative solution to extract the select options values (a dynamic assign with field symbols), but external conversions (for WBS elements for example ) are lost, so the comparison detects differences between the background job's variant values and the current selection screen values.
Does anybody know a way to get entire select options values from a selection screen just as they are displayed on screen ?
    Thanks for reading my message

    Thomas,
Perhaps the following code will help you.  A function module in the code captures everything on the selection screen into an internal table.  It doesn't actually capture the information the way you want it, but I believe you will be able to work with it to achieve your desired result.  If it doesn't meet your needs, it is still useful for printing selection screen fields and their values.

  • Multiple column selection in OBIEE 11g

I have multiple checkboxes each checkbox represent one of measure of my fact table
Now user wants to select the multiple check boxes to generate a dashboard report on the basis of these selected check boxes.

Actually I want to generate graph on the basis of selected measures.
I have created all columns in my report but I show the data only for selected columns when I draw the graph

    your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
Rahul@Amith, Venkat's blog is not what the user is looking for. It doesn't apply.
Rahul, did you try what I asked? What specific part of what step did you not know what to do. My steps were detailed so I'm not sure what to "explain" unless you tell me exactly what you didn't get. If you didn't do anything and just want me to explain it again, then I say, do it first. The step-by-step instructions can be followed without "knowing what it's going to do," but when you do it, you'll see what I mean.
Remember, this is a free forum. You are not paying me to help you so you need to show that you are doing your homework by testing what I say to do. So go back and read the post again and actually do the steps. If you don't know how to do a specifc step, then ask about that.
This method will solve your requirement, put effort into applying it.

  • List Box - Object  How do you get "allow multiple item selection" option to work?

developing a fillable PDF form using livecycle. I have several list boxes that contain multiple text items. I have entered all items directly into the item list and I have selected "allow multiple selection". The object is committed on exit, All the binding options have been left on default settings. BUT when the form is tested it will not allow multiple selections. I cannot find anything in help to resolve this. CAN Someone help me. This is urgent!!!!!

    Dear Deb
Thank you for your suggestion, but it does not appear to work. I used the alt key then my mouse to select, but it still only allows for 1 selection.  I do not see the sample you said you included, so I cannot check to see if I have a setting incorrect. If you have any other suggestions I would really appreciate it or if there is a way for you to look at the form, at this point I am open to any suggestions.

  • Multiple Select options

    Hi,
I have a requirement where i have to use to separate select options but the value of the 2nd Select option is dependant of the value chosen in the first select option.
For eg:First Select option is for SWCV and 2nd option is for Data Object.
If you choose S1 as SWCV in first select option then the values in select options for Data object should be populated for Data objects belonging to SWCV "S1" only an not for any other SWCV.
    PS:Points will be awarded

    Hi Sacha,
Is there any other way in abap web dynpro where i can achieve the above mentioned requirement. The catch here is that the user can enter multiple values.
Earlier user was allowed to have only one entry in inputfield so OVS used to solve my problem. But with multiple entries i can't do the same thing.

  • Multiple select options in 1 drop down box?

    Hi,
I have created a form that works perfectly except for the fact that I need to provide multiple select options in the 1 drop down box; for example, I'm asking what product the customer is interested in and his answer could be multiple items such as Soap, Sanitizer, Hand Towels, Face Cloths etc...
At the moment, the customer can only select 1 item not multiple.
    Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hi,
It is not possible to allow the user to select multiple items in a dropdown list.
You could use a list box, which does allow multiple selections.
    Good luck,

  • Multiple records in select options-Urgent help

    Hi all,
Iam using the following function module to get the set values. I need to pass multiple values in select options(ie) select options with no intervals. to the function module parameter Shortname. I have declared the variable which has to be passed as
         S_SETID   FOR  SETHEADER-SETNAME NO INTERVALS.
The problem is when i use S_SETID-LOW the value is passed to the function module , but if multiple data is entered in the input then how to pass all the data to the function module. Please Help.

    Hi,
Declare the Range in the Function module , then you can pass that Select-option fields to that ranges and use that in the Function module.
Or you can use the RANGE_C8 for the Select-optios in the Function module, you can declare the Internal table with the type of RANGE_C8 in the tables parameter, then pass the Select-option to this Internal table
If you want more length field then search based on RANGE_* then you will get all the Range Structure.

  • [Help] Multiple Selection at Select Options.

People, I've coded following Select Options:
    DATA: g_created TYPE zapomatxref-erdat,
                g_modif   TYPE zapomatxref-aedat,
                g_matnr   TYPE zapomatxref-pr1_material.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: s_creat FOR g_created,
                                   s_modif FOR g_modif,
                                   s_matnr FOR g_matnr OBLIGATORY.
Thing is, when I execute the program and hit the Multiple Selection, an error pops up saying "Fill in all required fields".
I know it goes through PBO validating that OBLIGATORY so I can't enter the multiple selection screen.. But is there a way to enter the multiple selection screen without changing the OBLIGATORY adition ?
    Thanks in advance.
PS: This is an executable program, not module pool. Also I want to enter Mutliple Selection screen without filling s_matnr.

Guys, solved the problem. You have to remove the OBLIGATORY addition and set the following code.
("Percentage symbol" below is the traditional percentage centessimal symbol we know, the mozilla wont let me insert it...)
    TOP Include:
    CONSTANTS: c_per002     TYPE c    VALUE '(percentage symbol)002'.
    MAIN PROGRAM:
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON s_matnr.
      IF sy-ucomm NE c_per002.
        IF s_matnr[] IS INITIAL.
          MESSAGE e025(ycapo).
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
PS: c_per002 comes to be the sy-ucomm value when hitting Multiple Selection Button at Selection Screen.. As any action validates the whole screen, you just set a clause when you don't want to validate if sy-ucomm not equals (different from) c_per002.

Hi Gary, Clicking the button shown below bring up the multiple selection screen without requiring a value. Do not add the obligatory keyword on the select-options statement as pointed out by Ramon.

  • ABAP list report, multiple selections - select-options

I have written a very simple ABAP list report, that contains a single select-option.  On the selection screen, I have the option of entering multiple values, with each new value being displayed directly underneath the old, but I am only getting the first value entered on the screen displayed.  Does anyone have any sample code for me?

    Hi Daniel,
Select_Options consists of 4 parameters, in with the range consists in eg...
    Select-options s_vbeln for vbak-vbeln.
then s_vbeln-low, s_vbeln-high are the range values...
So whne you write select query.
    write vbeln in s_vbeln
    instead of vbeln eq s_vbeln
    Hope this solves your problem.
