Multiple library files

Hi everyone!
I am still sorting through some issues I am having with songs missing even though they are listed in a library or playlist. Here is what I am discovered: itunes has multiple library files for some reason. All itunes music is located on an external harddrive. It is here that I see the following:
itunes library (with itunes icon)
itunes library.xml (with text icon)
itunes music library.xml (with text icon)
itunes Music (folder amongst the musician folders)
I am concerned that these files are causing issues. Can I delete the files that are .xml and keep the itunes library (with itunes icon)? Will this affect any "purchased" songs?
Thanks so much for your help and expertise!

*itunes has multiple library files for some reason*
Because it makes these files.
Those are all the correct files and folders.
itunes Music (folder amongst the musician folders) should be the folder where al the artist/album folders are. You should not have an iTunes music folder inside the iTunes music folder.
The .xml file is created by iTunes for other applications. If you delete it, iTunes will simply recreate it.

  • How to Load 2 library files using System.loadLibrary in one .java file!!!

    Hello,
    Someone please help me. What I am trying to do is load two .DLL files in my program. Program works fine when I
    do the following way i.e. I have two .java files and in each I am loading one .DLL file. But I don't want to have
    two .java files I want to load both the .DLL files in one program.
    **************** Example.java **********
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class Example
    public native int A(String in);
    static
    System.loadLibrary( "API2" );
    public static void main( String args[])
         Ex ex = new Ex();
         int r;
         r = ex.A("TEST");
    public Example()
    *****************Ex.java*****************
    public class exsysml
    public native int A(String in);
    public exsysml()
    System.loadLibrary("API3");
    The above way works. But I need only one .java file to load both the .DLL files. i.e.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class Example
    public native int A(String in);
    static
    System.loadLibrary( "API2" );
    System.loadLibrary( "API3" );
    public static void main( String args[])
         Example ex = new Example();
         int r;
         r = ex.A("TEST");
    public Example()
    but when I do this way it doesn't work and I get a UnSatisfiedLinkage Error at ex.A("TEST"). While doing the top way it works.
    How can I fix this to just have one .java file and load both the library files as done in the bottom program but doing this program doesn't work. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    what I figured out so far is that we can only load one library file in a single class and define all the native methods present in that library in the class where we are loading it. Means we can't load multiple library files in a single class. It's just my thought else if someone provides a better solution. I may be wrong so that's why I need your help.
    Thanks

  • I have multiple libraries on an external drive. Somehow all the iTunes library files i.e. iTunes Library.itl, xml, itdb, Media folder, etc disappeared! Only the music files remain. Now when I start iTunes w/option it can't find any of the old libraries!

    Help! I 'm using an old G4 powerbook, Mac OSX 10.5.8, iTunes ver 10. I have multiple iTunes libraries on an external drive. Everything was fine for a while, then all of the iTunes library files, i.e. iTunes Library.itl, xml, itdb, artwork folder, Media folder, etc mysteriously disappeared! Only the music files remain (thank god) So now when I start iTunes w/option key to choose a library, I can't choose any of them because iTunes won't recognize them. Because all the library stuff is missing. So can I re-create the library files? (I don't care if I lose my ratings)
    Or should I create a new empty library on the external drive, then manually move all the music files to the Media folder in the new library?
    I tried some stupid ideas like creating a new library just to start iTunes, then going into prefs and advanced, then under iTunes Media folder location, selecting the location of the old library on the external, to see if iTunes would then find all the music which is still there, but no workee.
    I'm out of ideas, and I searched the archives.
    Help! anyone?
    Scott

    I don't know if this is me adding files to iTunes when the external wasn't connected
    it is.
    is it OK to just keep deleting that library on the Air?
    i wouldn't - at least not until i
    mount the external
    point iTunes media folder location back to the external via preferences > advanced
    consolidate my library via file > library > organize library
    The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
    in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

  • How to delete multiple old ITUNES LIBRARY files safely ?

    I'd like to clean up my Itunes LIBRARY files, but don't know what's safe to do and not to do. (I have Itunes 8.1 / OSX10.4.11)
    MY QUESTION IS TWOFOLD :
    (1) how do I create a new Itunes library file now with today's date; and
    (2) how do I delete multiple (old) Itunes library files, without risking the loss of what I've got ?
    This all stems from exploring Itunes as a result of a problem I had today... when trying to import mp3's from my terrabyte drive, after about 150 successful mp3 track imports, Itunes froze and everything else on my MAC froze as well (constant spinning colored wheel). After many failed attempts to force quit Itunes, I turned off my MBPro. On restarting, Itunes tooks ages to "import" files. Eventually Itunes opened but with only half of my original tunes (1500+ songs 8.11GB) and had nothing from today's import.
    I found a post suggesting to hold down OPTION while starting Itunes. Then I selected a file from my hard drive > me > music > Itunes > "Itune library" with the most recent date and shezam, Itunes once again has all my songs, as before. Nothing I imported from the terrabyte drive today appears however, but no matter.
    In my "Itunes" file there appear MULTIPLE Itunes libraries ! such as Itunes library, Itunes Library (damaged), and as well a folder called "Previous Itunes Libraries" which itself contains multiple Itunes Library files and multiple "previous Itunes Library files" with dates back to 2007. These I want to clean up and delete .... should I ? ... Can I ?
    I really could use some words of wisdom from the wise ! Thanks in advance

    Whenever you install a new version of iTunes and run it teh first time, iTunes will create a backup of the current iTunes library file and copy it into \Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes libraries, then update the iTunes library file in \Music\iTunes\ for the current version of iTunes.

  • How to create a swatch library from multiple png files?

    Illustrator CC
    I am having a difficult time trying to create a new swatch libray of patterns from multiple png files. The way I am doing this is very slow and repetitive and seems silly for a tool as advanced as the latest CC suite including illustrator.
    What it seems I must do is open all the png files in Illustrator, creating multiple workspaces, drag one png file into the swatch window, then save that window as a library, close the existing window to reveal the next png file, open the user library I just created, drag the next image into the currently active swatch window, then drag the previous swatch/s from the user library into the current active swatch window, resave and replace the user defined swatch library (now with two images in there)fromthe updated current active swatch panel/window, close the existing workspace to reveal the next image file, and then repeat the process again, slowly building the user defined swatch library up by adding one image at a time and then adding back into the Swatch panel the previously built up library of swatches again one at at time.  (you can select all from the existing  user defined library and drag over into swatch panel, but this creates at least one  duplicate on each cycle for as soon as you click on the first swatch in the library, it adds itto the current swatch panel and then when you select all swatches to drag across it includes the first swatch and copies it again)
    This is a very slow process to build up a swatch library. For some reason you cannot drag swatches directly into  the user defined library you have created, only into the active swatch window for each workspace. I searched the web and forums  for answers but could find none. There must be an easier way,  just can't find it.
    Ideally, the best option would be a swatch window  option that allows the import directly from a list of selected files in the finder.
    Any ideas out there?

    Monika,
    Thank you for responding, however I am not exactly clear on what you mean by "libraries are plain AI files". For example, I cannot find a file with the same name as my user defined library name that I have created. I can find the preinstalled swatches listed under Adobe Application Support... Library... Swatches, but a user defined folder is not present and the library sets that I have already created are not visible. I have tried searcing my Mac for a (name).ase file and still no luck (at least for the name I was looking for). I can open the user defined library from the Swatch library icon on the bottom left of the Swatch panel, but when I open this I cannot drag and drop add new swatches directly to this library. As stated above, I have to add each pattern, one at at time to the normal swatch panel, then add back the previous ones I have saved from the user defined library to the swatch panel and then save threm all as an updated user defined library. Thus by repeating this process, it builds up the user defined library one at a time.
    I am using Illustrator CC if this makes a difference.

  • Multiple (old) iTunes Library files found on my external, what to do?

    My external drive (which I once used as the location for my iTunes library to save space on my old iMac but with my new computer hard drive space is not an issue and I have my iTunes folder on my native, internal drive) has *my old* iTunes folder with:
    +(a folder)+ Previous iTunes Libraries
    iTunes 4 Music Library
    iTunes 4 Music Library (Old)
    iTunes Library
    iTunes Library 2006-09-14
    iTunes Library 2007-09-08
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library.xml
    iTunes Music Library.xml
    The folder "Previous iTunes Libraries" contains these files:
    iTunes Library 2006-09-14
    iTunes Library 2007-09-08
    iTunes Library 2008-01-16
    iTunes Library 2008-09-30
    iTunes Library 2008-12-26
    iTunes Library 2009-06-16
    With me so far?! What's alarming to me is that I have so many files with the "iTunes Library" name...moreover, it seems as if my CURRENT and ACTIVE iTunes Library database on my hard drive in my music folder that was last updated "today" is only 5.8 MB in size, while the older iTunes Library databases on my external drive that are listed above are sized 5.2, 10.5, 11.8, 14.3, 15.7, and 15.8 MB!
    This implies to me that I've lost some important files or data in transferring my iTunes back from my external to my new local, internal drive.
    What should I do with these multiple (and currently unused) iTunes Libraries found on my peripheral drive? I try to open them and nothing seems to happen. I just don't want to lose any tracks as my library is large and varied.
    Any thoughts?

    "New versions of iTunes sometimes include enhancements to the iTunes library. When you open the new version of iTunes, iTunes upgrades your existing library to the new format and places a copy of the old library in the Previous Libraries folder. If everything goes fine during your upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, you can delete the older iTunes Library files." Read more: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660

  • Multiple library.xml files normal?

    I just made 2 iTunes libraries, both located in the Music folder on my internal HD. One is just called "iTunes" which gets backed up with time machine, and the other is called "iTunes For Backup", which I use for temporary music projects etc that I exclude from backup to save space.
    The one called "iTunes For Backup" has an "iTunes Library.xml" file as normal, but the "iTunes" folder has both an "iTunes Library.xml" file AND an "iTunes Music Library.xml" file.
    After playing around, I discovered that if I start from scratch and create a new library called "iTunes", initially it will create just the "iTunes Library.xml" file, but as soon as I've added songs and quit, it creates a second file called "iTunes Music Library.xml". If I create a new iTunes library and name it anything other than "iTunes", only an "iTunes Library.xml" is ever created, which I think is normal behaviour.
    To be honest I don't even know if this is a problem, but I've never seen multiple Library.xml files inside the same iTunes folder before. And why it would have anything to do with what you name the library seems baffling. It strikes me as very odd behaviour so I thought I would throw it out there out of curiousity to see if this is normal. I'd hate to find out it's a problem after I've built a huge library.

    I'm wondering the exact same thing.
    I'm able to find a lot of resources on the itunes library.xml file, but hardly anything on the itunes music library.xml file…
    I'm also lost as to how I import my playlists back into iTunes. I keep my music on an internal 'Media' partition and am pretty well versed with OSX, but can't seem to figure it out… All the problems relate back to both of these XML files. Importing one will import some of the playlists, but not all… Weird

  • Sharing iTunes music AND library files between multiple users in Windows XP

    My wife and I share the main computer and both use iTunes, each of us with our own iPod. While Apple covers how to share your music directory itself (which I did when iTunes was first installed by making the music directory C:\music), it doesn't allow you to share the library files--so, for example, if you added a playlist in one account it doesn't sync with the other.
    Microsoft has an app called Sync Toy which allows you to keep any set of files/folders on a Windows box synchronized with another set. I use Sync Toy to run a scheduled task each day in the middle of the night to sync the files in the iTunes directory in our %homepath%\My Music folders with each other--the most recently updated one will be synchronized.
    Just thought I'd share this tidbit of info since I haven't seen it posted before and it's saved my wife and I a lot of time.
    Hope this helps someone out there.

    That is one way to do it. There is another way, which is only slightly more difficult, but which you might find more attractive.
    Basically, iTunes expects to find your library files in the "My Music/iTunes" folder. However, "My Music" is a special system folder, its location is defined by Windows.
    If you download TweakUI, you can use it to set where your My Music folder is. So, if you create a folder that both you and your wife can access, and then set both of your My Music folders to be that folder, then you will have a shared library. No syncronization needed, changes you make to one will happen to the other because you both have the same library files.
    Only downside to this is that you can't use Fast User Switching and thus have both people logged in and using iTunes at the same time, because while one of you has the library open, the other can't access it until you close it.
    It works fine.

  • ITunes in Multiple Windows Profiles using same library files.

    I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with iTunes 7.1.1.5.
    I have two windows users created on the machine and I have my iTunes library files installed to c:\iTunes both user accounts see the music just fine. The issue that I am having is when I attempt to purchase music from the iTunes store. iTunes in each windows profile will purchase music and download it, add it to the purchased playlist. The issue is that the other windows profile cannot see this purchased music. I have verified that the downloaded music was in the c:\itunes folder, but each windows profile seems to have a different purchased playlist.
    Is there some secret to having two windows profiles on the same computer use the same iTunes library?
    Thanks
    ~Shane
      Other OS

    Anything downloaded for the library of one profile must be added to the other profile by hand. iTunes does not support doing this automatically, no folder watching feature like other clients have.
    iTunes library files are the itunes.itl and itunes.xml file within the iTunes folder for each user.
    A good reason for this is podcast subscriptions. Each user can be subscribed to the same podcast. Downloads will be duplicated but this allows one user to delete episode without affecting the other user.

  • WAR files sharing multiple JAR library files?

    Hello all, I want to make an EAR file that contains 4 WAR files, each of those WAR files relies on the same jar library files, is there some way I can make an EAR that only has one copy of each jar file?
    i put the jar files in the /library of the EAR as per the java deploytool, but that just gives class not founds
    my ear structure currently is this
    test.ear
    ======
    a.war
    b.war
    c.war
    d.war
    \library\xerces.jar
    \library\tools.jar
    \meta-inf\manifest.mf
    \meta-inf\application.xml
    \meta-inf\sun-j2ee-ri.xml
    i tried putting classpath: xerces.jar tools.jar
    but that doesnt work, any idea on how my syntax or EAR structure is wrong?
    thanks!

    Hi,
    Have you tried this way ?
    (including the line below in the Manifest file of the your wars file)
    Class-Path: library/xercers.jar library/tools.jar

  • Can't back up Library file

    Hi All,
    Problem: I'm trying to create a backup of my Aperture Library file by simply doing a drag copy of it to an external drive. I get about 2/3 of the way done, when the copy process stops and I get an error that the process has stopped, due to a corrupt file. I get the same result copying to my internal back up, external back up and even doing a file copy on the same drive. I've now done the consistency check and rebuild the database, but there were no errors, so I'm assuming that I will get the same result as before. I'm trying the copy again any way, just to check. If this doesn't work, I see two next steps.
    1. Open the contents of the Library file, try the drag copy again. With the contents exposed, I think I may be able to find the offending file and get rid of it. I know this is dangerous, to muck around in the Library like this, will this work?
    2. Export my library, project by project, then rebuild (import) on to the new drive.
    I guess my third option is to just trust that the Vault will work, but after my last experience, I wanted to look at all options.
    Thanks.
    Background: I have had a bad run with hard drives lately and just after recovering from having a Samsung 1TB die (lots of hours to restore everything), I had my new WD Caviar Black 2TB start to act funny, with corrupt file issues etc. Here's my config, Mac Pro Quad G5, Mac OS 10.5.8 and Aperture 2.1.4. My current back up plan has been simply drag copies of my data to both an internal and external drives on a regular basis. Simple, yes but it has served me well until this latest bout of hard drive problems.
    My short term plan is to get two new 2TB drives to raid in my system, with my external 2TB as a clone of my drive. That should hold me over, till my sales pick up and I can spend my savings on a new Intel Mac Pro with new OS and Aperture 3.
    My current problem is getting fully updated copied of everything backed up. I've had some corrupt file issues, which stops the copy process and makes me hunt for the offending file. All that's done, except my Aperture Library. Yes, I have multiple copies of my Vault file, but in the process of rebuilding the last time, I learned that the Vault doesn't keep thumbnails and previews. I got uneasy about this process, when it took forever to rebuild thumbs and previews. It didn't seem like it was working, when I realized I had a copy of my Aperture Library, so I copied it over and everything was cool.

    A few thoughts. First when you do the drag of the library file is Aperture closed? Don't know for sure if it would make a difference but it's probably a good thing to do.
    Second have you done a disk verify of the volume your Aperture library is on? I would suggest you run disk utility and do a disk verify on this volume just to rule out the possibility of a bad sector.
    Finally I would really advise against going into the Aperture library and mucking about unless you have a definite know good backup of the library. You could select all your projects at once and then export them all in one operation as a new library directly onto the external drive. The you could just open this new library in Aperture, no need to import anything.

  • Multiple Domain files, Multiple Sites, Publishing Problems

    I am frustrated beyond belief. I'm an old hand-coder, coming from BBEdit, but I've been using iWeb almost exclusively since its release, because it really is a great product for quick, easy, stylish designs.
    However.... In that year, my collection of sites has grown to 12. Discovering that iWeb becomes a major dog when dealing with that much material, I found and followed the instructions - today - to separate my sites into individual domain files, and edit them individually. iWeb is much snappier and publishing goes much more quickly.
    The problem? Well... after editing, "Publish to .Mac" rarely works. Only "Publish All to .Mac" will get the site online (something about an error with the index.html file). But "Publish All to .Mac", I've just discovered, DELETES the other websites that I have previous published. All day I've been doing updates and publishing my sites, only to discover that the uploads have all been wiped out by the most recent one!
    I'm a big enough fellow to admit that my knowledge isn't total nor perfect - so please, would someone out there with a better handle on iWeb than I (preferably someone who actually deals with multiple domain files rather than someone who thinks they can guess the problem) please clue me into how we make use of this program non-destructively?
    I suppose I could always publish everything to folders and upload it to my iDisk (which itself remains ridiculously slow after how many years now? Sheesh!), but that detracts from the elegance of the .Mac integration, the counter features, - not to mention the little fact that I'm a paying .Mac customer and this darn thing should just work, no?

    Mark:
    I was where you were also. You should give iWebSites a try. It's to iWeb what iPhoto Library Manager is to iPhoto.
    I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
    If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
    This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want. Just remember to put a copy of your current Domain.sites file somewhere else on your HD in case the splitting gets messed up. It went very smoothly for me and I now manage 19 or so sites.
    Do you Twango?

  • How to create list items with multiple attachment files using rest api javascript

    In one of user form I am using javascript rest api to create a list item with multiple attachment files. So far I am able to create list item and once created uploading an attachment file. But this is two step process first create an item and then upload
    a file.
    It create an additional version of the item which is not desired. Also I am not able find a way to attach multiple files in a go. Following is the code I am using.
    createitem.executeAsync({
                    url: "/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle('UserForm')/items(1)/AttachmentFiles/add(FileName='" + aFile.name + "')",
                    method: "POST",
                    contentType: "application/json;odata=verbose",
                    headers: {
                        "Accept": "application/json;odata=verbose",
                        "X-RequestDigest": $("#__REQUESTDIGEST").val()
                    binaryStringRequestBody: true,
                    body: fileContent,
                    success: fnsuccess,
                    error: fnerror
    So somehow I need to combine item attributes along with attachment files in body: param. I visited https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn531433.aspx#bk_ListItem but no success.
    Appreciate any help.

    Thanks Mahesh for the reply and post you share it was useful.
    But this does not solve the core of the issue. You are uploading attachments after creation of item and multiple files are being attached in loop. This is kind of iterative update to an existing item with attachments. This will end up creating multiple versions.
    What I am trying to achieve is to create an item along with multiple attachments in a go. No item updates further to attach a file.
    Please suggest how this can be done in one go. SharePoint does it when one creates an item with multiple attachment.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • ITunes Library file content / format

    I am using the iTunes library file to process song titles for a label program, and I have two questions about these files:
    1) There are two library files on my disk, Library.xml, and iTunes Music Library.xml. When double-clicked, the latter opens with Firefox, and the former opens in TextEdit. Library.xml is the file I use, which I parse with Perl and generate input for a PostScript label program. The question here, what is the purpose of these two files; i.e., how are they used by iTunes?
    2) I need to extract the Total Time and the Size parameters, which are given in (very large!) integer format. I have found that Size is nearly a constant multiple of Time, so apparently Time is redundant. Also, I can't make any sense of these numbers, except to use the resulting ratio for one and then to apply that ratio to all the others. When I do this, I get nearly accurate results, but they are always off by 3 to 5 seconds. As for the Size, I tried to make sense of the large integer in terms of sampling rate and size 44.1/16-bit), but without success. So, if anyone has the secret to these parameters, I would appreciate knowing it! Thanks much in advance for any help on this.
    PS: I will post some specifics here if needed. For example, Total Time 182437 shows up in iTunes as 3:02 (182 seconds). The ratio here is 1,002.4010989011, which, when applied to another title with a Total Time of 222477 gives 221.9 seconds, or 3:42; this item shows up correctly in iTunes, but not all do when I use the same ratio.

    Oops! I forgot that. My hunch was correct, though. Unix reports exactly the same sizes as the iTunes file. My error was not dividing by 1028. (I thought the finder was the culprit!) Thanks for all the help.
    By the way, why are there two .xml files for the library? The Library.xml file is the one I am using, because the structure is pretty obvious in a text editor.
    For your information, I belong to the Illini Folk Dance Society at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Illinois. We have some 200 titles on 78 rpm records, already digitized, and approximately 600 or so on 45 rpm, which I am now in the process of recording. After that, there are many LP recordings to do (our total collection consists of approximately 3000 titles), although they can keep for a while. After lots of experimenting, I decided that the quality of the 78s and 45s merited the 44.1/16-bit recording levels, and that is working out nicely, and it keeps the files to a reasonable size. I started out with Garage Band (all the 78s were done that way), but got fed up with that pretty quickly, especially the tight link to iTunes, so when Audacity came along, I started using it, and am very happy with it. We have one 250 gig hard drive, and I plan to add another. Also, I plan to put everything on CDs, which is why the present project. I wrote a PostScript program to print the titles on the labels in circular arcs, and am writing a Perl script to parse out the titles and sizes, grouping things in sets that will fit on one CD. If you are interested in the PostScript program, I will gladly send it to you. The Perl script is fairly trivial.
    Well, I just passed my 75th birthday, so I better get cracking! Cheers.

  • Multiple DomainSite files no longer open after Lion upgrade

    I have at least 6 separate Domain.Sites.2 files that use for domains that I maintain using iWeb. Since I upgraded to Lion last week, I've discovered that no matter which DomainSite file I've tried to open, it continues to open the last site that I worked on before my system upgrade.
    Have I lost the ability to use those files?
    I'm in big trouble if there's not a fix for this! Big trouble!!
    Thanks for any help,

    Here's another solution to your issue:
    In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
    do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
    You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
    Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
    WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
