Multiple OID schema's in a single database SID?

I have OID/OVD 11g installed in a development environment and during the install I used the create schema option to automatically create the required database schema. I now need to install a second seperate instance of OID/OVD, but the database schema will reside in the same database SID.
Is this possible as presumably the script will be trying to create users/tablespaces that already exist for the first instance?
I see you can install OID using an existing schema, but I'm assuming this needs to be empty and that there's on way two ldaps can share the same schema.
I guess I'm hoping the script is clever enough to modify it's user/tablespace naming details if they already exist, but this doesn't seem likely.
Any advice gratefully received.

The existing schema doesnt have to be empty. If you select High Availability, the installer will automatically recognize that you want another instance of OID with the same database.

  • Multiple instances operated on a single database on a single machine

    Hi friends,
Can anybody tell that "Is it possible to operate multiple instances on a single database on a single machine"!?.
If so.., where this case is useful.
    Please help on this doubt.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Srinivasa Rao

    Hi,
I just asked whether it is possible or not. It is not much important. As you said, OPS will perform well if instances are on different machines. I agree on this. But I think we need to replicate the database on other machine also to run fast.Am I right?..If not, please correct me...
    Thanks for valuable information.
I just re-read your post. When you say multiple instances on a single database, it sounds to me like you are asking about Oracle Parallel Server in 8i. I don't know why you would (or even if you could) have multiple instances on the same box. I don't think that would make sense since on of the benefits of OPS is to have more processing power by using multiple machines.

  • SSM - Configure Multiple Webserver's with a Single Database Server

    Hi,
I need to install SSM using the following system landscape: Distributed system using a single database server and two webserver's.
The system is configured to use the Microsoft Network Load Balancing and that's the reason why exist two webserver's. When the user put the URL, the connection can be done to the webserver 1 or webserver 2 (the Microsoft Network Load Balancing will manage that).
I was checking the install guide "NW CE 7_1 SP5 SQL Server Install Guide.pdf" but there is no reference to this system landscape. The only "similar" is for High Availability System using Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS), but that's not what I need.
I was planning to do a distributed installation and in the database server I will install:
    - the Database Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Database components of SSM (PAS)
In the Webserver I will install:
    - the SCS Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Primary Application Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Web components of SSM (PIP, etc...)
For a scenario of a single webserver and a single database server, this work just fine.
    My questions are:
    - how can I configure SSM to work in a scenario of two webserver's and a single database server?
    - Should I install the same components in both WebServer's?
    - Should I use the same instance number or a different one?
    - It is possible to have two netweaver instance sharing the same database?
Thanks in advance for all the help
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
    - how can I configure SSM to work in a scenario of two webserver's and a single database server?
Yes see below. But also make sure SAP will support the configuration you're planning!
    - Should I install the same components in both WebServer's?
    yes.
    - Should I use the same instance number or a different one?
    The same makes configuration eaiser
    - It is possible to have two netweaver instance sharing the same database?
Not for the SCS but yes for application server (your Java instances)
The central services, SCS instance, are one per a SAP System. So you cannot install one on each Web Server and operate them simultaneously.
Given your database is also a single point of failure then I would suggest you install the SCS with it on the database server.
On each of the Web Servers install an application instance of SAP NW CE.
Since the instance are on different servers they can share the same instance number.  It is not mandatory but it may make configuration easier. e.g. for the the webservice the port will not change.
There can only be one Interactive Publisher (PIP) running so this may as well also go on your database server.
The Pilot Application Server (PAS) there can be multiple of so install one on each Web Server.
See section 5.2.3 of Server Installation Guide SAP Strategy Management Release 7.0 Support Package 2 and higher for configuring SAP NW CE to point to the one instance on Interactive publisher.
See section 5.2.7 of Server Installation Guide SAP Strategy Management Release 7.0 Support Package 2 and higher for setting up the Web Service target in Interactive publisher this will need to use the virtual ip(or hostname) of your Network Load Balancer.
    Best of luck.
    Marcel.

  • IGNORE - Fixed Single-Database Capture and Apply Example, multiple tables

I ran the demo setup for , "Single-Database Capture and Apply Example" ( http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28321/capappdemo.htm#BCGBIEDJ )
Everything works fine. I now want to capture changes to another table in the HR schema, using the same DML handler.
I am uncertain of what to use for the stream name in the following (and related calls). I want the captures for the new table, "job_History" to go to the same queue. Do I use the same stream name, or do you have to create a new stream for each table capture? Thanks.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.ADD_TABLE_RULES(
    table_name => 'hr.job_history,
    streams_type => 'capture',
    streams_name   => 'capture_emp', queue_name => 'strmadmin.streams_queue',
    include_dml => TRUE,
    include_ddl => FALSE,
    inclusion_rule => TRUE);

  • Looking for a best query for multiple IF Else statement in a single select

    Hi
I want to run multiple IF Else statements in a single select SQL, each statement is one SQL operating on the same table, what is the best way to write this select SQL query ?
If it is PL/SQL, when i get the result from the first IF statement I will skip the remaining execution, and so on... Can any one help me on this.
    Thanks in advance !!

I Apologize, the information i have given might not be enough.
    This is my scenario,
I am selecting set of rows from the table for the employee id. After selecting those records,
i need to go through the result list and check the condition 1, if it is met, i will return that employee record.
If that condition 1 is not met, then i need to go through the condition 2. If that is met, i will return that record.
Like wise, i have four conditions.
I am trying to achieve this in a single sql. If i am not clear, please let me know. Not fully clear yet, but the picture is better already. The thing with SQL is that you should stop thinking procedurally. Instead think in data sets.
For example if the task is:
Find all managers that work in sales.
Procedural thinking would work like this:
    pseudo code
Loop over all employees that work in sales
       for each row
check if it is a manager
               if manager
                  then return record
               else
                  do nothing
               end
end loopThinking in datasets will result in a different logic
    pseudo code
    select all employees
    where department = SALES
and job = MANAGERThis advantage here is that all the "Do nothing" loops are not needed. Those are already eliminated by the database.
So what is needed to help you? Give the full picture. What is your task that you try to solve. From a business perspective.

  • Can i create more than one instance for single database?

    HI
anybody can tell me how to create more than one instance for single database(without using RAC)?
    thanks
    Kalanidhi

    Anandji,
I sometimes think differently. I also think like what this person is asking..(although I have installed and administering 5 different RAC databases)
The main doubt of mine is that we create multiple instances accessing the same storage area.
Anyway the controlfiles of all instances will have the same information except the instance_names and instance id's.
Hence I always think , why can't it be possible to to create another instance in the same system and point it to a controlfile which is copied from the other instance.
Why can't the same files be shared between the two instances in a same system ?
I know I am thinking a little bit confusing...
Anyway I need to test that also...

  • How to install multiple E-Business Suite in a single server?

    Hello,
I read somewhere that we can install multiple E-Business Suite in a single server as long as the storage is enough, is it true? If yes do any of you can give me the steps to install it or refer me to a link? I'd searched here but couldn't find it, hope that I didn't miss something. What I want to do is install Vision database and another one is fresh install for testing, both in a single server. There will be about 20 people accessing that system. What kind of hardware must I use? Thanks.

If you want to run 2 instances concurrently, It would be safe to assume you want 8 GB of RAM plus enough storage to host both instances, backups, archive logs, patches etc. For CPU, most entry level servers can be single, dual or quad socket, or CPU socket. Most CPUs are dual core, meaning there are 2 physical CPU cores in each socket. So if you get a 2 socket dual core server, you see 4 physical CPUs on the operating system. If you get a 4 socket dual core server, you see 8 physical CPUs. If you want to run R12 applications, you will definately need 4 GB of ram per instance (E-Business Suite installation). 11i might get by on 3 GB of ram per instance.

  • How to Impliment Streams replication in a Single Database

    Hi,
I need to impliment Oracle Streams in a single Database (Source and Destination are same--In Same database).
I have four Diferent schemas in this database.
i need to replicate some selected tables from each Schema (some selected columns in each table), and replicate it
with other diff schema which is also resides in the same database.
If anybody have any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance.
If you have any documentation please post here.
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hello Ray,
Please take a look at the following thread where I have given an example to replicate from schema ORDERS to SHIPPING on to a different database.
setup streams for tables with source and destination schema is different
The steps are almost same except the propagation is not used in this case. There would be only one queue to which capture would enqueue the messages and apply would consume the messages.
You need to define capture and apply (as there is no propagation) on the same queue. The schema can be renamed using DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.RENAME_SCHEMA as shown in the example. If you would like to rename the table then use DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.RENAME_TABLE.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.
    Thanks,
    Rijesh

  • Can I create two different FDM applications in a single database?

    Hi,
Atpresent we are using separate database (MSSQL Server 2008) for each FDM applications, now our databases have increased in numbers due to increase in number of applications.
Now we are searching for any possibility to use a single database for more than one different FDM applications inorder to reduce the new database creation numbers in future.
Any suggestions would be greatly helpful.
    Thanks in advance.
    Abdulla Javeed Hassan

Yes. Reduce the number of FDM applications you are creating. You can have multiple target system adapters in a single FDM application (i.e. a single database only required). There is no need to create a new application for each target system.

  • Single Database Session Per User in ADF/BC Application

Hi, I am using ADF with BC (JDeveloper 11.1.1.1). My application contains multiple application modules, each connected to the same JDBC data source. On the app server, I have configured the data source to use Identity Based Connection Pooling.
My current configuration is resulting in numerous database sessions for each user. I have a requirement to use only a single database session per user HTTP session. Is there any way to configure the application modules to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi,
use a single root Am module and make sure the others are used as nested modules. This will create a single connection

  • Merge different databases 10.2.0 in single database

We have different database, DatabaseA size is about 135GB and DatabaseB size is about 117GB. I want to merge both database in a single database by moving datafiles. Pl suggest, it is possible if yes, how?
    Thanks,
    Regards,

Warning before merging databases you need to look at certain factors especially those related to security.  One or both databases may hold sensitive data.  The application on one may run as the owner and the owner may have the DBA role.  The owner password may be widely known so by merging the databases you are effectively granting DBA access to your other system to a wide range of people.
You also need to check for the same owning usernames (schema) objects existing.  You have to check for the possibility of public synonym conflicts.
Also make sure both Oracle's are the same edition.  You would not want to try to move an application running against the Enterprise edition to running against the standard edition without making a detailed check of the features in use.
For migrating database data from database A on machine A to database B on machine B besides traditional export./import processing you likely have the option of using the transportable tablespace feature to allow copying the files rather than actually moving the object DDL/data.  This approach would likely be faster.

  • OID Schema Storage

    Hi,
I need the information of OID Schema. The Schema of OID will be stored in which format? And the location at which the Schema gets stored in OID?
Whether it is in Database or a Flat File.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sandy

    Hi,
In OID, schema is stored under 'cn=subschemasubentry'. All data including schema is in the database.
You could export the OID schema through 'ldapsearch' command -
    ldapsearch -h <host> -p <port> -D cn=orcladmin -w <bind_password> -b cn=subschemasubentry -s base -v "objectclass=*" > /tmp/OID_SchemaExport.ldif

  • Creating a new schema in a Logical Standby Database

    Hi All,
I am experimenting with logical standby databases for the purpose of reporting, and have not been able to create a new schema in the logical standby database - one of the key features of logical standbys.
I have setup primary and logical standby databases, and they seem to be running just fine - changes are moved from the primary to the standby and queries on the standby seem to run ok.
However, If I try to create a new schema on the logical standby, that does not exist on the primary, I get "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges" errors when I try to create new objects.
Show below are the steps I have taken to create the new schema on the logical standby. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Searching for missing column names in a single database.

I have a database with about 100 tables, database gets generated using entity framework. The application has been enhanced  so users deployed with older version of the application need to upgrade to newer version. The database generated is both versions
    is same name.
Now, the older version is missing some tables and column names that are in new database.
Is there a script that can search for missing fields in a single database as described in this situation?
Below is my script. Basically, nameofdatabase would the database generated and that already existing. If you install the application and database already exits no new database will be created.
    SELECT * FROM (Select TABLE_CATALOG, Table_name,COLUMN_NAME FROM nameofdatabase.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS) a FULL OUTER JOIN (SELECT TABLE_CATALOG, Table_name,COLUMN_NAME FROM nameofdatabase.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS) b ON b.COLUMN_NAME=a.COLUMN_NAME and
    a.TABLE_NAME=b.TABLE_NAME WHERE b.COLUMN_NAME is null or a.COLUMN_NAME is null ;
