Multiple queues- single server

I've 5 queues and a single server that needs to order all the rows of queues (by unique ID).
I can have IDs that not already arrive at queues. I need to wait for them.
What algorithm can I use to solve this problem?
I think that is the same problem of Oracle recovery using archive log files. We have lot of files
(with random SCNs) and we need to apply them to database.
Thanks a lot
André

If i correctly understand it can be possible pseudocode as i described below:
start with lowest ID
do infinitely
--for each queue
--**search ID from queue
**if found then
****process ID
****increment ID by one

I simplified this problem from my long code into 2 test files with the problem only.
    TestThread.java is the server
    testSocket.java is the client
Running TestThread.java first then run testSocket twice without closing any would only show that it executes till line 46 and refuses to run further
It would execute the TestThread till line 38 and not go further.
Any help with this problem? Say I delete line 38 of testSocket and line 49-52 of TestThread, it would work fine but wouldn't work with input from different clients which would result in the program to hang there. I need to have input and output from different clients to the server at different time and interchangeable from one client to the other. In my program, the clients does different jobs so use of threads is out of the question.

    I found your mistake.
Your clients are trying to receive a message that server has not sent.
    String message = inputFromServer.readUTF(); //read start message
    System.out.println(message);//start mess
    message = inputFromServer.readUTF(); //read hehehe message
    System.out.println(message);//hehehe
    message = inputFromServer.readUTF(); //read hahaha message
    System.out.println(message);//hahaha
message = inputFromServer.readUTF(); //<<----- what message? hangs waiting a server message
new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream()).writeInt(99);      //this is not executed
...And your server hangs wait your clients int.
Anyway, you should not recreate the DataOuputStream! use the objects you've already create.
Lines 49 to 52 on server should be:
    int y = inputFromClient1.readInt();
    System.out.println("message from client 1 : "+ y);
    int x = inputFromClient2.readInt();
System.out.println("message from client 2 : "+ x);It also applies to your client, see line 40.

  • Multiple queue vs single queue - peformance

    Hi All,
Could pls throw some light on the following design.
Currenty, We have more than 100 queues and for each there is a different MDB to receive the message. Now, somehow we made a single instance of same MDB listen to all these queues by looking at the input message. The requiement now is, is it possible to club all the queues into single queue as it's asynchronous messaging. The receiver may also try write into the same queue at the end of message processing. If so, how would be performance. Is this performance better than having multiple queues?.
The message are expecting to be 25 k/day in the queue. And we are using Weblogic server.
Please let me know if you need more details.
    Thanks
    Srinath

You could try to use selectors to assign messages to particular MDBs. This way you off load some of the work on the broker but selectors by their nature usually have an impact on broker's performance. It all depends on your application, your expectations, size and the rate of your messages, how long it takes to process them on the client side. There is no simple answer in this case. You would have to test some scenarios to come up with a best solution that fits your requirements. Having said that I personally believe that some degree of partitioning of your queue could be beneficial. On a heavily loaded system it may increase the concurrency of the system and its resilience, particularly if you place the queues in different brokers. Try to imagine your broker as if it was a DB server with just one table (I'm not sure if this is the best analogy but I can't think about anything else at the moment).

  • One Search service application for multiple web applications in a single server

We are planning to host 17 Web applications in a single Server. Do I need to create search service application for each web application or I need to create one  Search service application , create a Content source for each web
application and create a Result source for filtering. Which is the best approach. And which approach takes more RAM memory.
In my application I am using Search web part, "Recently Changed Items", "Popular Items" web parts. when I created only one one  Search Service application for all web applications and using Result sources ,
I am not getting the results. What could be the problem.

    Hi,
One SSA is ok, but you should think about access rights. If the access is clear cut between all the web apps you should be ok with one SSA. Multiple result sources limiting on content source also works, but could easily be bypassed.
Multiple SSA's will eat up RAM/CPU like a mother :)
As for popular etc.. it could be due to how those sources are set up, but haven't investigated or tested this much.
    Thanks,
    Mikael

  • Multiple Oracle Products on Single Server

Can we install Multiple Oracle Products for Development and Testing on a Single Server?
    Oracle Database 9i Enterprise Edition.
    Oracle 9i Application Server
Oracle Applications 11i (Financials GL,HRMS PAYROLL)
    Oracle Discoverer 4.x
Oracle Internet Developer Suite (Forms Server, Reports Server,
    If yes,
Do they need to be in separate ORACLE_HOME or same ?
Also what should be the sequence of Install, i.e. what should be installed first?

The following products needs to be in their own Oracle Home:
Oracle Database 9i Enterprise Edition. --> in its own O_H
Oracle 9i Application Server --> in its own O_H (assuming this is 1.0.2.2 or 9.0.2)
Oracle Applications 11i (Financials GL,HRMS PAYROLL) --> in its own O_H
Oracle Discoverer 4.x --> in its own O_H (this is a 806 based product btw)
Oracle Internet Developer Suite (Forms Server, Reports Server) --> This can either be in its own O_H or in the O_H which has 1.0.2.2 Oracle9i Application Server.

  • Multiple Instances of OEDQ on a single server

    Hi,
I am running a Linux Machine (Linux 2.6.18-308.1.1.0.1.el5), on which I have the latest version of Oracle 11g release 2 installed.
I have an instance of oracle Enterprise Data Quality tool running on an apache-tomcat-7 server. Port 8080
Now I have a requirement of Installing another instance of OEDQ on the same server, but a different APACHE_HOME directory and a different Port Number (8081).
So the question is, Can we install multiple instances of OEDQ on a single server?
If so, what are the prerequisites to be maintained.
I did my bit of tries, but ended up having issues with some java errors.
I have posted the error message below.

    Hi,
Multiple instances of EDQ on a single server is technically possible provided the installer takes care to avoid port conflicts. It is not the case that there is a single port used by an EDQ server, for example.
For various reasons, it is not officially supported; attempting to diagnose issues on custom installations on Tomcat is especially difficult and we do not provide documentation on this. In general, the requirement usually comes up for Dev/Test instances (as there is no performance advantage of using multiple instances on a single server), where we would recommend the use of virtualization where this is a requirement.

  • How to install multiple E-Business Suite in a single server?

    Hello,
I read somewhere that we can install multiple E-Business Suite in a single server as long as the storage is enough, is it true? If yes do any of you can give me the steps to install it or refer me to a link? I'd searched here but couldn't find it, hope that I didn't miss something. What I want to do is install Vision database and another one is fresh install for testing, both in a single server. There will be about 20 people accessing that system. What kind of hardware must I use? Thanks.

If you want to run 2 instances concurrently, It would be safe to assume you want 8 GB of RAM plus enough storage to host both instances, backups, archive logs, patches etc. For CPU, most entry level servers can be single, dual or quad socket, or CPU socket. Most CPUs are dual core, meaning there are 2 physical CPU cores in each socket. So if you get a 2 socket dual core server, you see 4 physical CPUs on the operating system. If you get a 4 socket dual core server, you see 8 physical CPUs. If you want to run R12 applications, you will definately need 4 GB of ram per instance (E-Business Suite installation). 11i might get by on 3 GB of ram per instance.

  • Multiple SAP products on a single server

Is it possible to install ERP 2005, BW, CRM, SSM and EP on a single server without virtualization? This is only intended for non-productive instances (DEV & QA)
I would also like to know if SAP has any information on this?
    Thank you
    Aubrey

    Welcome to SDN Aubrey,
It is possible to do this assuming all the applications versions support the same DBs. You will have to size the server additively - you don't really save a CPU, memory, or Disk.
    You have 2 options here:
MCOD: All the applications share the same DB but are separate applications with SIDs. Note that all applications must support the same release of your DB.
Separate DBs: All applications have separate DBs (assuming your OS/DB supports multiple installations).
There is a lot of good information in the master guides (SAP NetWeaver, mySAP ERP, and mySAP CRM). I'm not sure what SSM is?

    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

  • Multiple database in single server

    Hi experts,
Please tell me how to configure multiple SID with single listener.
I configured the DR setup of two databases in single server. Now the problem is, if I start one listener from orapm1(CRM), my data is replicating only for CRM, and if I am going to start my listener from oraPE2 user (DBM), error is coming u201C listener is already startu201D but DBM is not replicating with DR site.
And when I stop the listener from oraPM1, and start listener from user oraPE2(DBM), my DBM is replicating properly, I want to start both in parallel with one listener.
Right now I have only one port for both database (1527) and only one LISTENER, should I need to change the port for one server e.g DBM (primary and standby), and then change in listener files. For both side (primary and standby)
If I am correct please let me know the steps, what precautions we need to take.
And what change I need to do in listener file.
2nd) Can I work on same port for both SIDs, if yes please tell me the steps.
My CRM is working properly so I need to change in DBM part.
I am attaching listener file from both users in same server (10.11.230.12)

  • Weblogic JMS single vs multiple Queues

I am building an application which acts as an event listener and based on the events received it needs to execute certain steps or work-flow. Is it better to have events posted to a single queue and MDB invoking different business logic components based on event type or to have one queue per event type and the corresponding MDBs invoke different business logic ? Our assumption is that a heavy workflow corresponding to a particular event will not starve the performance of other light weight events since they are processed in separate queues.
    Your suggestions please.

Will I get an increased throughput by having heavy weight events processed in different queue instead of having one >queue / MDB for the complete set ?In general it is a good idea to have separate set of the Queue/MDB to support completely different business logic and different message types so you can tune destination and MDB pool size as per it's own concurrent processing requirements. With it's own set of Queue/MDB per business logic it will definitely help to achieve better parallel processing. Throughput also depends transaction boundaries at MDB side. For a given queue, JMS server will not deliver next message until current message is processed successfully and received acknowledgment.
If threads get stuck with the heavy weight event processing, is it still going to affect the events processed at other queues ?In general consumers(including MDB) for each destinations execute in separate thread in parallel. So stuck thread with one kind of consumer does not impact consumers on different destination, however if problem persist and high number of messages results in high number of stuck threads it will definitely starve WebLogic thread resources and cause negative impact on WebLogic system itself. One way to limit damage of the stuck thread is by limiting pool size of the individual MDB.
    Hope this will help.

  • Report Question - Multiple CSQ - Single Avg Queue Time?

Multiple CSQ - Single Avg Queue Time?
I haave multiple CSQs, and I'm able to get certain data like Service Level averaged for all of them becuase I can get the data from reports, but not so for Average QueueTime (time to answer) - anyone have ideas on how to do this?
Note, averaging the CSQ averages won't be accurate because of significant differences in number of calls for each.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks!

  • Multiples databases on single server

    Hello,'
I need some of the expertise opinions what are the cons and pros of having multiple databases on a single server? we have about 150 GB size of the database with millions of the recods in few tables. The reason is we have to keep one database up, while the other database is upgrading to the users. but i am little conscerned having both on same server. But we dont have an another server to accommdate, so multiple databases or multiple schemas on same box? which on has less overhead and what are the pros and cons...
    Thank you.

couldlet me know what if i create an another schema in the existing database, do i create a separate tablespaces?
-- You can create another schema in the existing database under same tablespace or different. Whatever makes sense for your application/database. Please note when you upgrade database then none of the schemas going to be available since they are part of same database.
our golas is when one db is going through upgrades another should be up and running. as you suggested can i create on 'D" drive in 2 different oracle homes for each of these databases? in this case when i shutdown one db other will be still available to users right...
    please advise.
-- Basically you will have 2 Oracle Homes on D drive. Something like D:\oracle_home\db_1 and D:\oracle_home\db_2 or whatever you directory/path names.. And database(s) can be located on same or (better) different drive.

  • Oracle multiple homes on a single server

This is about maintaining multiple oracle homes within a single server for different oracle versions.
On a Solaris-9 server I need to have 2 11g versions where 11.1.0.6 serves one instance and 11.1.0.7 is expected to serve 2 upgraded database instances.
For multiple homes involving full installations it is simply a matter of installing software in a new home with a new home-name. But 11.1.0.7 is a patch installation that needs an existing 11.1.0.6.
What is the recommended approach in this case to host multiple oracle homes?
Oracle's documentation claims their cloning tools can be used (prepare.pl and clone.pl perl scripts).
It also has something on runInstaller -clone mention.
What I've achieved so far is:
    (1) Install 11.1.0.6 via Solaris-packaging onto a clean server. This installed onto $ORACLE_BASE/product/11.1.0 using ORACLE_HOME_NAME=OraDb11g_home1
    (2) Upgrade this to 11.1.0.7
    (3) Detach this oracle-home from global inventory
    (4) Rename the folder 11.1.0 to 11.1.0.7
    (5) Re-attach as new oracle-home (name=OraDb11g_11_1_0_7) and relink at the same time using runInstaller -clone command
I am no DBA, so I'd like to know if the above approach is good enough or if there is any other recommended approach.
    Many thanks.
    G.Sharma.
Edited by: Sharmag on May 31, 2012 11:38 AM

@Helios, thanks but curious - why is this not stuiable under installation? - regards,
@Shrini - I am using Solaris packaging for installing oracle software. So unless I rename the target folder I cannot achieve different the same 11.1.0.6 in 2 different folders.
Even if I managed to tweak Solaris packaging and install the second oracle (11.1.0.6) into a second folder, wouldn't that be the same as renaming an oracle folder-name? In this case, we still would end up with the same issue of relinking and correcting the global inventory.

  • Can we have multiple database audit specification on a single server audit ?

    Hi,
We are having a 2 node Sql Clustered instance of SqlServer 2008 R2 Enterprise running
on windows server 2008 R2. We have about 88 databases in the instance.
Our servers run on Intel Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @2.94 GHz with 6 cores(12 logical processor).
The servers are having 12GB of RAM.
We are planning to introduce database level audit to find if there is any activity on
some of our databases. These databases are not growing in size and there is a request
from the application team to ascertain whether the endusers are accessing the database
over a period of time. In this context I have 2 queries-:
1)Can we have multiple database audit specification on a single server audit ie can we
audit multiple databases to find out the user activity on those databases at a time? Or
should we a separate server audit for each database audit specification?
2)We plan to have the target of the audit on a file on the same shared volume(lun) where
the MDF file and LDF files are located(in EMC storage) and in this context what performance
monitor counters should we watch to ascertain whether there is any performance degradation
due to introduction of server audit.
    Thanking you in advance
    Binny Mathew.

As Auditn  is at the SQL Server instance level. You can have multiple audits per SQL Server instance.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc280386.aspx
    Database Audit Specification
The Database Audit Specification object also belongs to a SQL Server audit. You can create one database audit specification per SQL Server database per audit.
The database audit specification collects database-level audit actions raised by the Extended Events feature. You can add either audit action groups or audit events to a database audit specification. Audit events are
the atomic actions that can be audited by the SQL Server engine. Audit action groups are predefined groups of actions. Both are at the SQL Server database scope. These actions are sent to the audit, which records
them in the target. Do not include server-scoped objects, such as the system views, in a user database audit specification.
Database-level audit action groups and audit actions are described in the topic SQL Server Audit Action Groups and Actions.
You can also consider using a Profiler trace file to capture the events.

  • Are multiple presentation services on a single server really unsupported?

    Hello all,
I can hear everywhere that multiple presentation services on a single server are not supported by Oracle, but I can't find an official source stating this.
All I could get is this page where it is stated that it is not recommended (but not unsupported):
    https://supporthtml.oracle.com/ep/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1111655.1&h=Y
    Can anyone please advise ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Cedric.

    Hi cedric,
It is not recommened is what i can say,in simple words it gets jammed when you try to build a request from any of the services.
It is not supported cant be the reason,it has a work around to go and do that
Follow these blogs Multiple presentation servers using the same RPD
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2009/10/obiee-multiple-repositorys-multiple.html
    UPDATED POST
There is no such official document saying about its support by oracle, but oracle wont support handling two servers in production as it is not legal and it is going against the product capabilities.I would suggest you not to go with it.
    Cheers,
    KK
