Multiple simultaneous logins no longer being prohibited when unchecked

Since (I think) the most recent raft of software updates were installed, multiple simultaneous logins are no longer being prohibited when the box is unchecked in a user's logon account.
My users are now logging onto different computers and 'lending' their account to people who are not students.
Is anyone else experiencing this anomaly since 10.5.7 or thereabouts?

Figured it out, I just had to restart the server for the changes to take effect.

I can't speak for the PHP universe, but principles tend to
translate so I'll
take a shot anyway.
In ASP, you've got session_onstart and session_onend in your
global.asa
file. Obviously, if the user does not log out and just closes
the browser,
the session will remain active until it times out, but
session_onend will
run regardless of how the session is ended. The
session_onstart and
session_onend can be used to edit application variables
(which are truly
global and only fall out of scope when IIS is restarted). The
application
variable might, for instance, be named after the user ID and
contain the
number of current active sessions. Session_onstart is set to
create or
increment; session_onend is used to decrement.
In the case of a user closing the browser, you'd have a login
unavailable
until the session timeout is reached. Typically, explaining
this to users
is good enough and everyone understands that if they make a
mistake (or have
the computer crash or something), they may need to wait 20
minutes before
they're allowed to log in again (assuming you're using the
default 20 minute
timeout). As long as it's known up front and not a nasty
surprise, people
are generally understanding.
I don't think PHP has application variables, but you could do
the same with
a text file or a database table (with the bonus that a
database table can be
used to store session ID, login, logout, etc and give you all
kids of
history info). The crux of the matter is finding out if a PHP
application
has the equivalent of a global.asa and/or session_onstart and
session_onend
event handlers that are handled by the web server and not any
particular web
page. Sorry I can't be of more help there.

Purchases made on my ipod touch are no longer being transferred to the Mac...but yet they are showing up in "grey" in the purchased list on the Mac. Any clues as to what is going on?

What used to work just fine, is no longer working...
Within the last 2 days, song purchases that were made on my ipod Touch are no longer being transferred when the ipod synchs up. The strange thing is that the songs appear in iTunes --> Store -- Purchased list, but are greyed out. They play just fine on the ipod...but aren't making it back to the Mac.
I have tried right clicking on the ipod when it appears in iTunes and selecting "Transfer purchases", but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any clues as to what is going on?

One other very important piece of information I forgot to include...the purchases were made prior the iOS update. So the sequence of events went like this:
1) ipod Touch with previous iOS (4.0 I think)
2) purchases made
3) ipod connected and iTunes prompts for iOS update
4) iOS upgraded to 5.0
5) Now the purchases seem to be stranded on the ipod Touch

After automatic update to 32.2 (then I tried to update to 33.0 beta with no improvement) Firefox keeps returning a "Gone The requested resource /administrator/index.php is no longer available" reponse when trying to access joomla login. The problem is there even when I fill manually the fileds "user" and "password" in the joomla admin login page. The problem appears in different sites on different servers, and do not occurr using Google Chrome. It's clearly a Firefox issue. Could you please give me some ideas on how to solve ?

ITunes No Longer Launches Automatically When My iPhone Plugs In

So as the subject line says, my iPhone no longer starts iTunes when it is automatically plugged in. It just stopped doing this after I talked to AppleCare to get my MobileMe working (my computer is old so it uses .Mac but it wouldn't load successfully so AppleCare changed some preferences around). Anyway, now when I plug my iPhone in, iPhoto launches but in order to get my phone to perform a backup, I have to manually open iTunes when before both iTunes and iPhoto launched automatically.
Anybody know how I can get it back to launching automatically when I plug my phone in to the computer?

Like the poster "Sig", I have this problem as well.
I checked the Login Items in the preferences and the radio button was checked. So, that's not the case. Nor was I using any iPhone utility either.
Now, I tried all alternate USB ports on my Mac Pro and I also tried plugging into my iMac 20' 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo. My iPhone is not recognized on either. I think it's something specific to iPhone v3.01 and 3.1 software. Because, I've not upgraded my iMac's iTunes yet. So, I think we can either rule out it being iTunes' fault. That or this iTunesHelper needs is broken... if that is the case.
So, do we have some better solutions to this problem?
PS: Oh, and yes, I did update iTunes to v9.0.1 on my Mac Pro. Still no response.

VPN server claims I have multiple local logins

I have successfully been logging in from my home Linux box to the company VPN using AnyConnect with DuoPush for about a month. As of last night I can no longer log in. The AnyConnect client says somethng like, "AnyConnect profile settings mandate a single local user, but multiple local users are currently logged into your computer. A VPN connection will not be established."
I am the only one on this Linux system. I have rebooted. I have forcibly rotated wtmp and utmp logfiles in case AnyConnect was confused by my not logging out when the system had to be shut down in a hurry due to A/C failure. The "last" command shows only me logged in. The "who" command shows me at the console, and on various ptys connected to xterms; I even killed the xterms at one point just to be sure that wasn't confusing it (this should be unnecessary but I was trying everything I could thnik of).
What is AnyConnect looking at that convinces it there are multiple local logins?

You cannot use Windows Server Backup to back up file and folders on volumes that require more than 2040 GB (or 2 TB). However, as long as the data size is less than 2 TB, you can perform a file or folder backup.
If you configure windows server backup to backup this 4TB volume to 8TB every 1 hour for period of 12 hours every day, you will get 12 versions shadow copies. You can now use a single backup to back up both the system state and other data on your server. These
system state backups are now faster and require less space for multiple versions because they use shadow copies for versioning, similar to volume based backups, and not individual folders for each version.
Windows Server Backup does not require user intervention to periodically delete older backups to free up disk space for newer backups—older backups are deleted automatically.

It' WAS odd , now resolved. How it was resolved is more curious. It had been going on several days .. Quite tedious .
Yes es the icon ( Finder ) in the dock , the blue and white square faced one just to be clear. Clicking on it had no effect at all.
I Two finger tapped on the icon and had the pop up menu appear above it, from there I could select new finder window .
Also 'Command N' could activate finder no problem.
Another odd thing ... I had to reply to this thread on my iPad - via Safari as the Mac Mini Safari page for support thread would NOT respond to 'reply'.. For your question . Even trying logining out then in again.

How can I fix Firefox 18 and 19 from taking too long to close when custom settings for history is used?

Hello, please read entire post before answering, thanks!
I had Firefox(FF) 12.something and was happily using it when I had to get a new hard drive and start over, so I decided to upgrade to the latest FF of the moment, 18.something...
After going through setting up all the different add-ons etc.. and resetting the options/preferences (not cool how you all reset those every time it updates!) The time to open and close went from 2-4 seconds each to 78 seconds to open and 48 seconds to close. Over the last two days I tried (except reset) and read all the suggestions here to no avail.
So I read up on how to totally uninstall all traces of Firefox so I could do a clean install, that didn't work either: The freshly reinstalled FF 18.? program still opened and closed in the same times, and had all my info despite my deleting the folders/sub-folders said to hold that info. I turned everything off in FF, still no improvement, so again I tried to find accurate info on how to completely remove FF and still nothing that is correct for the current programs.
Today I looked again for info on how to totally remove FF, found something new to me, and tried that, including a complete search of the registry and removing everything with the firefox name, then reinstalled FF 18.?
Again all my bookmarks and info was there, and when I looked up help it auto-updated to 19.0 without my permission, again I don't like others making decisions for me for "my own good"(hence the screen name), not OK!
So I tried the reset feature in FF 19.0 and it did just that and the opening and closing lag times were gone, back to 2-4 seconds each,which seemed great!,but no.
When I went back to set up my options and restarted, FF went back to the lag, so I eventually removed/reset everything and all was well again, so I started putting/setting things back one at a time, that's when I found and verified the problem, the history settings!!!
I repeated this 6 times with the same results:
Set the History to Remember, and everything works fine, set the History to Custom the lag returns without fail.
My settings in Custom were:
Accept and remember everything until I close FF
Clear history when FF closes.
In the sub-menu "Settings" under the Clear History when FF closes:
All 6 boxes are checked for History and no boxes were checked for Data (all the defaults)
I looked at the processes running in Task manager when starting and stopping FF with these settings,I found that not only was FF.exe running but also a plugin-container.exe, both eventually stop after about 48 seconds, the plugin container does not appear to run when History is set to Remember all... (I have an incomplete memory about the plugin container causing problems like this in the past but I cant remember what or exactly when so...)
I also tried leaving the History setting to Remember All and the restarted and tried to clear everything through the Tools menu and FF stopped responding for about 60 seconds and then seemed fine afterward.
So I conclude that there is a problem in the newer versions with clearing History in the background while the browser continues to function, and the likely culprit is the plugin container(again?)...
So on to the questions...
Is it possible to set History to Custom and have FF 19.0 remain operational during that process and for FF to close in a few seconds as it did in FF 12.something with the same History settings?
If so how can I set that up?
If not, what is the latest version that will work correctly with the History being remembered until FF is closed and then wiped before re-opening, without waiting more than a few seconds for it all to happen as it was in my FF12.? version?
Also, How do I remove ALL TRACES of Firefox 18.? and up so that I can do a clean install if I need to, as I said everything that is here or linked to from here up to today, 2/21/2013, was not sufficient.

Why?
As it turns out, the plugin-container.exe rears its ugly head yet again. With as many as four instances trying to run at once, and locking FF completely whenever I try to watch videos online. (Google Chrome has no problems with the same videos on the same sites with the same software available to it on the same drive on the same machine, so it is definitely something in FF)
Also:
1. ) The auto update for; plug-ins, FF itself, add-ons, etc..., refuses to stay disabled.
I've read others saying that as many as five different areas need to be found and addressed in order to fully disable many of the "hidden" functions of the latest Firefox editions, yet I can't find a definite answer nor instructions to fully address this accusation nor can I find complete and full details/ instructions on how to completely uninstall all data connected to Firefox. I have followed what I can find so far and when I reinstall, all my personal data is there including bookmarks etc... so something isn't getting done...
2.) Whomever is in charge of "security"(Villalobos?) keeps disabling my plugins which is keeping me from using FF to some extent and may or may not be keeping the videos from playing while on-line and who knows what else, but as I have stated before I'm against anyone doing anything for any reason under the Hitler/Stalin-esque ideology that "the ends do justify the means", for example:

So as a last resort I'm going to downgrade to something that the socialist people who are now making decisions for the masses that use the newer editions of Firefox can't control (hopefully) and manipulate against my (our) will.
So I need your help cor-el to be able to remove ALL files/instructions/data in order to downgrade without anything "new" being left behind after uninstalling, presuming you know how to accomplish this and will share it with me and everyone else who wants to continue to use Firefox without someone else deciding what we can and can't do with it.(it is still open-source right?)

I use my computer and browser for my business, I can't afford spending all this time and trouble trying to undo what Jorge Villalobos( and those who think as he does) continue to do, apparently believing that it's ok to cost me (us) time and money in the name of "protection", he really doesn't get it, and I'm done putting up with socialists (or control freaks pretending to be socialists) trying to run my computer. No problem signing in with my Apple ID in iTunes or any Web Browser.
By the way I didn't mistype anything in case you wanted to ask.
It seems every time Apple tries to merge an iPhone app with OS X it creates problems.

An additional note... I realized later that the iCloud id with which I was signed into the MacBook was now different ([email protected]), when I got errors trying to sign into FaceTime with [email protected] However, when I sign into FaceTime using [email protected] (same as the iCloud login), FaceTime works fine.

Windows task bar no longer auto hides when I fullscreen a flash video.

Like the question reads, my task bar is no longer auto hiding when I full screen flash videos in firefox. Other than the obvious issue of it just being unsightly and annoying, It also causes a few other problems. One being that the computer no longer recognizes that a fullscreen video is playing so it goes to screen saver, and goes to sleep at its normally timed intervals.

If you're using higher DPI settings, please check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" on 'firefox.exe' (=> right-click - Properties - Compatibility tab).

My Apple ID is no longer being recognized after IOS5 update

My Apple ID is no longer being recognized after upgrading my I-Phone to IOS5. When trying to update my aps, it asks for the password and doesn't recognize it when I enter it. I've been through the entire "Forgot my ID" process, but nothing's working. Can anyone help please?

Me too my real worry is that we will not be able to download software updates as it seems to me that the original software was installed using the old ID

Status bar no longer being displayed in browser

I am running an Oracle Application Server 10g (Forms and Reports services). When a form is displayed, it use to have the "default menu" displayed (action, edit,query...) and the "status bar" below the form. The status bar is no longer being displayed. I don't remember changing the configuration files (formsweb.cfg...) in anyway that would cause this.
Does anyone have an idea?

Are you refering to the browser status bar?
I'm referring to the oracle forms status bar which would display a frm-xxxxx error message should it occur. It was being displayed with all my forms, and now it is not.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your post, I cannot quite tell if you did all of this, in exactly this way. Hence, with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
