Multiple Stored Procedure Versioning

Hi All,
MS SQL Supports, Multiple SP Versions,
Does oracle support automatic code translation, can it handle Multiple SP Versions ?

We currently use versions any would like to convert our database to Oracle,
will oracle automatically handle this and how ?

If those stored procedures are making DML calls against more-or-less the same data, you will be introduce contention.
In a single instance (non-RAC) contention is within the SGA (buffer_cache, shared_pool, latches, enqueues). If the application is not scalable within the single instance, you will likely make performance worse when running it in RAC.
So, you must first evaluate how it works (or would work) in a single instance database -- find out if it scalable merely by adding hardware. If it is scalable but your current hardware is limited, you can consider RAC. If it is not scalable and you have serialisation or contention, performance would be worse in RAC.

Hello Guys,
This is kind of different scenario,
Here is the scenario (SQL Server -> XI -> Legacy)
1.I want to trigger stored procedure (from XI to)
2.Inside the stored procedure we are going to have multiple stored procedures.
-Inside stored procedures
SP1 -> It supposed to select the data from interface control table, if that is success
SP2 -> Call some other stored procedures which can be select/insert/delete from different tables most of the cases it would be select, if that is success
It should give results back (Response) to XI and with some output parameters like (status message, etc)
Next step I want send those results to target system which is legacy. If that is success
Next step I should update entry in the Interface control table(which is in SQL Server) with success entry like (success message, current date, current time, interface name, username.)
If it fails any stage like while selecting data from interface control table which is SP1/ SP2 It should give error message back to XI(output parameters). XI is going to send Alerts/Mails to respective interface owners.
This is my scenario can anybody help me on this what needs to be done to implement this scenario.

Anyway , altimately you are going to call one stored procedure and going to get one output. So it will not be a problem I think.
Anyway it is required to introduce BPM here.

From where will get Success messages like (current date etc) are you planning to take XI system date.. If so you can get this. And you can send the message to SQL.

Multiple Stored Procedures - One at a time

Hello everyone!
I´m going to start an interface that requires me to call multiple Stored Procedures, but they will not be called at the same time.
The legacy system has 3 stored procedures to be called, like this:
1 - SP number 1: it says to the legacy system that some data is going to come up and clean the previous data
2 - SP number 2: input data into the legacy system
3 - SP number 3: for each line above, more lines will be inserted - sort of header/line cenario
My question is: should I be able to achieve this goal using only PI 'normal' components or will I have to use BPM?

Hi Ricardo,
According to my knowledge not required to use the BPM.
In that first stored procedure you can call the another stored procedure, internally database can take the all necessary actions.

How to call multiple stored procedure from same DB Adapter

I want to invoke 3 stored procedures from my message flow in BUS . I created a DB adapter and invoked 1 successfully . Now I don't to configure 2 other DB adapters for calling other 2 stored procedures . I want some how to be able to call the other 2 from the first DB adapter only . Somehow I need the flexibility to have procedure names as the operation names in 1 wsdl and be able to configure this in JDeveloper for this at time of DB adapter configuration . I am using 11G . Is it possible ?

You can probably create a DB adapter with operation type selected as Execute Pure SQL and write SQL code to invoke the stored procedures depending on the procedure name (which you can get as one of the parameters of DB Adapter).
However, Even if you were able to do it, the DB Adapter schemas are generated based on stored procedure parameter list and types. If you use Execute Pure SQL type of DB Adapter the schema will be generated based on the parameters which you are using in your custom SQL code within DB Adapter. Which means that if you want to add a new stored procedure as target which has a different name and different parameters then you will need to regenerate the DB adapter and update your custom SQL code. This also means that you will need to do regression testing interfaces to all stored procedures whenever there is any change in this DBAdapter.
Now, my question is why do you want to invoke multiple stored procedures from same DB adapter?
This is not a good way to design integration solutions and makes your services resistance to change as it will take more time to change and test.
If all that you want is to have a web service which can have different operations for different stored procedures then you should create three business services and create a wrapper proxy service which has one operation for each stored procedure, within the proxy transform and call the correct backend service (you can use operational branch). This way you have a modular code where each module (read interface to one stored procedure) can be independently modified and tested.

Having multiple Stored procedure in a single Business Service in OSB

Hello Abdul,
It is not possible to serve multiple stored procedures/functions with one business service because one business service can be based on one adapter only and one DB adapter can interface one DB component only. You may have one stored procedure which internally makes call to all other procedures as per your requirement and from OSB, call this single stored procedure using one business service.

Multiple stored procedures on report

I linked two stored procedures on Crystal Report using primary keys but have been having login issues when I migrated from Development to Test environment. I'm NOT using SubReports.
I want to know if it is even possible to use multiple stored procedures on Crystal Report without using SubReports? I'm using Crystal Reports 10 and SQL Server 2008

2) CR 10 does not support MS SQL 2008. Check the supported platforms documentation. I Recommend upgrading to CR 2008.

Anyhow. From your description it also looks like this works for you in the designer ("development" environment), but not once you get it into Enterprise. If that is the case, post your query to the [Business Objects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum, see what they say.

Report with stored proc running multiple stored procedures with insert statement

Hi,
I wonder if this is possible in SSRS ... I use the 2012 version (Data Tools).
I have a report that triggers a stored procedure. See below.
Within this SP there are 2 insert statements getting data from 2 other SP's.
When I make a dataset referring to the main SP below, SSRS does not show me any fields at all.
Is this because it's a SP with insert statements and nested SP's?
At the end of the SP I make a select so it should see all the fields.
The parameters @month and @costcenter are multivalue params. I use a special function to convert the multivalues, selected in the report, into a string to pass it correctly to the query (comma separated).

After testing a similar scenario in my own environment, it works well in Reporting Services. In my test, the stored procedure returns all the fields from _Pink_TB_StandingsRegister table in the dataset. Then I select some values from year, month, costcenter
and Glaccount parameters, it inserts some values in the _Pink_TB_StandingsRegister table. So we can use this stored procedure as the dataset in the report.
In order to solve the problem more efficiently, I need to clarify some information.
Are you pass multiple values parameter to one stored procedure correctly? We can refer to the following thread:

Error while executing Multiple Stored Procedure through .sql file

Hi Guru's.
I am new to ORACLE. I am facing problem while creating Stored Procedure through .sql file.
I have one test.sql file with Stored Procedure is like,

Can I manually create the wsdl for database adapter, which can have multiple operations for different stored procedures?

Multiple stored procedure run across clusters

Hi there,
Currently we are having a single Oracle 11g instance. All our stored procedures are run on this database either directly from within the database (DBMS_JOB) or called externally from front-end java web apps.
The question is we now have to cater for scenarios where there will lot more avenues (other java apps) calling the stored procedure and we want to provision for such scenarios without impacting the performance or agreed upon throughput back to the calling application.
One option I read was about clustering (RAC) and how this can be configured at the database level to transparently cater to a huge volume of stored procedure calls to the database without affecting (requiring changes on the calling entities). So the java front end apps will only refer to a single database but Oracle RAC configured for the database will handle the heavy load scenario in seamless and transparent fashion across the clusters
We don't want to split the execution of one single stored procedure run into multiple process for performance we have that part covered with optimizing the queries of the stored procedure
but we want to provision for a scenario where multiple apps can spawn calls to the stored procedures simultaneously and the database is efficient about handling these parallel stored procedure invocations and does not overwhelm under the pressure of large volume of stored procedure run causing degradation of stored procedure runtime/response time.
Please provide your thoughts.

Multi-Mapping - JDBC receiver - Multiple stored procedure - How to sequence?

Hi Folks,
We have 7.1 .Done multi-mapping , single source mapped to 5 different stored procedures.
The challenge we are facing here is , these stored procedure is not working sequentially .
i.,e for e.g., 2nd Stored Procedure should start only when first Stores procedure completely finished its turn.
But third procedure getting completed before1 st stored procedure completes .
Highly appreciate if any views on this ? How to sequence and make sure second will start only when first SP complete ?

If we go for ccBPM , do we need to put wait step ?
- Here we dont know how much time each procedure takes to complete. Requirement is another procedure has to start only when the previous one completes.

In OSB, Single business service to handle multiple Stored procedures

Hi,
In OSB we have a package and within that there are 8 overloaded stored procedures. DO we have to create 8 business services or is it possible to create single business service and pass differrent messages to it.

You have to create 8 dbadapters and hence 8 business services. Better you create one stored procedure which internally calls these 8 stored procedures on the basis of conditions you have and create only one DB adapter and hence one business service to invoke this sinlge stored procedure.

I have many stored procedures that have the server name hard-coded for bcp out purposes. Is there a was to update all of these at one time, or am I stuck opening each one up seperately?

You can generate the ALTER scripts for all your stored procedures and then search-and-replace.

Transaction Handling via Multiple Stored Procedure Calls

Hello,
we have the requirement that we call severall stored procedures in a sequence. The problem now is to have one explicit transaction which is only commited in case all calls have been succesful. In case there is an error during one of the calls all already executed stored procedures should be rolled back.
One idea would be to define transactional behavior in BPM within a block but I have some doubts whether this works as I have found the following warning in the SAP XI help section:
"The transaction control mechanism for integration processes is not a central transaction manager for an entire system landscape. The transaction control mechanism cannot roll back any processing steps outside the Integration Server"
Do you have any advice on this issue?

The best solution would be to call the root SP from XI adaptor and handle the transaction commit logic in side this root SP. That way even BPM will not be in picture.
BPM can not handle transaction roll back on external systems.

Executing a stored procedure containing multiple Select statements

I am using Crystal 10.0 against a MS SQL 2000 server.
I am trying to create a report based on a stored procedure that contains multiple select statements. The sp requires a single parameter (Claim number) and contains 17 Select statements that produce results.
I am able to use the Add command and execute the sp with the parameter, but I am only getting the results of the first select statement in the sp back in my data set. Is there a way to have the data from each Select statement returned to my report?
I have used Crystal for a while, but pretty much for straight-forward reporting. I am familiar with the basics of SQL.
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I believe Crystal Reports can only handle one recordset at a time, which means it can only handle a single select statement. The only way I can see around this would be to break up your stored procedure into multiple stored procedures, so that each only contains a single select statement. Then, use subreports to report on each individual sp. Hope this helps. - Davewww.BusinessSoftwareResource.com
