Multiple users on reinstalling windows

i originally had windows 8 installed in my laptop. i installed hp protecttools n set up personalised account where i wd use finger print to unlock my pc . everything ws working fine until my laptop started slowing down.i decided to reinstall windows, this time i installed windows 8.1bt i ddnt uninstall or disabled my previous authentification settings from hp protecttools. ultimately upon installing hp protecttools again on da new windows i ended up wd 2 users wd same name (my name). due to another technical issue i again installed windows n nw i ve 3 users.  previous users are kinda useless, nothing wd happen if u select em but da presence of these extra users on startup is annoying.can someone please tell me how to get rid of them?i would b highly obliged!

  • Problem with iTunes and multiple user accounts in Windows

I am running iTunes on a PC (Windows XP) and have multiple user accounts. When I switch between user accounts and try to open iTunes, I get a message that tells me I can't open the program because another user is using it. Is it really true that I can only have iTunes open in one user account at a time on a PC with multiple user accounts ?!? If not, what am I doing wrong?

You are right, can only have one open. You have to log out of a user before logging in to another user to use iTunes. Do not use the fast user switching ability of Windows.

  • Synching photos with multiple user accounts under Windows

My parents have an iPad which they share; they also have a PC running Windows 7 where they each have a user account. Within their accounts they each have photos, each in a two level hierarchy where the first level contains only folders (i.e. "<date> <subject>") and the second level contains the actual photos within each folder.
It's my Dad's account that actually syncs with the iPad. iTunes won't sync with a Windows 7 library so I can't combine my parents' individual photo folders into a single library. I tried creating a link in the base of my Dad's photo folder to my Mum's photo folder but then I discovered iTunes will only work with two levels of hierarchy so this meant all of her photos appeared in a single folder on the iPad.
They want all of their folders to appear at on the iPad with the photos each in the correct folder as (hopefully) illustrated below. Can someone suggest how this may be achieved?
    Thanks!

  • Acrobat Reader Xi Crashes for Multiple users when they attempt to "Save As"

I have multiple users here running Windows 8  and Acrobat Reader Xi (11.0.05) and when they click 'save as' to save a PDF they are viewing, acrobat crashes every time.
Is there a resolution to this crashing probelm ?
I have tried uninstalling (using the cleanup tool as well) and reinstalling the program,
I have tried rolling back to an earlier version of Xi
    So far nothing has worked.
Any insight or resolution would be greatly appreciated.

    Uninstalled Reader 11.0.5
Ran the Acrobat cleanup tool v2
    Installed Acrobat reader 11.0.6
    Still have the same issue.
Narrowed this down to PDF files that are opened from a network drive.
If I copy the PDF to the local Drive of the PC I can open it and "save as" successfully.
If I open the PDF from the mapped network drive, and then "save as"  Acrobat reader crashes every time.

  • 1 Apple TV 2nd Gen, Windows 7 Computer with multiple user accounts

The issue that I am having is I have 1 Apple TV 2nd Gen and Windows 7 Computer with multiple user accounts.
When I log onto my Windows user account, open up Itunes and turn on home sharing my Apple TV work perfect but if another family member switches to their Windows user account without logging me out, the home share shows up on Apple TV but it just says "Loading ... Library" and never loads.
If we switch back to my user account, restart iTunes, everything is fine. Is there a way to keep my home share active in ATV2 across multiple user accounts? All of my video is under my account.

You can home-share multiple libraries but only use one account at a time.

  • Windows 7, one computer, one library, multiple users

I installed iTunes 10.0.1 (64 bit) on a new computer running Windows 7.
    1. I copied my old iTunes library from an old computer.
    2. In iTunes, I changed my iTunes media folder location to C:\users\public\music\itunes\itunes media
    3. I selected th copied files, then dragged and dropped them into the itunes window.
All good so far. Now I can see and play my old tunes on my new computer. But... this is a home computer with multiple users. When I change users, I can start itunes, but when I change the iTunes media folder location to the same location as the install user's location, I get nothing. It's like iTunes can't see the data at that location.
Can anyone help with this? Is there a different way to do this? My goal is to have all users on this computer share one iTunes library (we all use the same store account). What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

+... but when I change the iTunes media folder location to the same location as the install user's location, I get nothing. It's like iTunes can't see the data at that location.+
When you change user B's itunes preference to use C:\users\public\music\itunes\itunes media as their itunes media folder, that part worked, right?
You need to add the "C:\users\public\music\itunes\itunes media" folder to their itunes database file (itunes Library.itl). Each windows user has their own database file.
The itunes library content is not the same as the itunes library database.
Make sure everyone's preferences for "Copy files to itunes folder" is NOT checked, or you'll end up with duplicate files.

  • Windows XP Mode - 1 VM for multiple users?

I have multiple users that use one machine (Windows 7 Professionl x64), which in turn they need to run an old application that will only run in Windows XP mode.  However, I have noticed that you have to create a machine for each individual user, as far as I can tell.
I basically want to make one virtual application that ALL users can use without having to create a VM for each user.  Is this possible or have I overlooked something where you don't need to create a vm for each users?
    Thanks for any help!

I too have this requirement. My situation is complex in that we have multiple users logging on to multiple machines (call centre shift workers). To take one of our computers as an example:
    1x Windows 7 Enterprise x64 PC
2x users logon to the same PC throughout the day, requiring access to their individual Win7 profiles
1x legacy application that does NOT save any user specific data
The above means that we only need one Windows XP Mode image on the machine, but require 2 Windows 7 users to be able to access it, ideally with the application to run seamlessly.
I have managed to get it working, but it is by no means 'elegant':
Set up XP Mode for the first time logged on as 'User1'.
Ensure that the VM is saved to a locaton accessible by anyone, e.g. C:\VM\
    Install legacy application.
    Shutdown XP Mode
    Log off 'User1'
    Log on as 'User2'
Create a new VM - not through the XP Mode, but rather through the standard VM creation Window. Select the option to utilise an existing VHD and point it towards the XP Mode VM created earlier.
That's it - the legacy app shortcut should appear in 'User2' start menu and be able to run seamlessly.
If anyone knows of a more elegant approach, I would love to hear it.
    Many thanks.

  • The Windows SMB feature has file locking if multiple users are accessing the same file.  Does Snow Leopard Server File Sharing (AFP) provide similar features?

The Windows SMB feature has file locking if multiple users are accessing the same file.  Does File Sharing (AFP) on Snow Leopard Server provide similar services?

Were you ever able to solve this problem. I'm having similar issues since upgrading to snow leopard. Four macs connect to a Windows Server 2003 for shared files. Each user has full permissions & when we "get info" it shows read & write permissions. Two of the computers were running 10.4, two were running 10.5. Everything worked properly until upgrading to snow leopard. Some files let me copy, move, delete. Others either just hang up or we get a "no permission" error. Also getting a "pdf is in use" error, even when the file/folder doesn't contain a pdf. We had our IT rep check the server who said everything is in working order. They don't represent macs any longer but feel that it's a mac problem. I would have to agree since this problem only started after the upgrade, and the one machine that was not upgraded (still running 10.5.8) is not dealing with these problems.
Lastly, I would install 10.5 back on all of the computers if I could, but the leopard disk that came with one of the computers wouldn't work with the 2 machines running 10.4 and I didn't see it available at the apple store. I'll buy it if it's still available, but why wouldn't the disks that I have work?
    Thanks for any help

  • Windows XP and authorizing multiple users on same computer

What is the best way to share songs and authorize multiple users (unique XP users on the same computer)?
Are all users on XP considered to be on unique authorized computerers?
    Thank you.

Authorization is done on a per-OS basis; all users on one OS installation are considered to be on the same computer.

  • Install Windows on partition of secondary HD; multiple users approach

    Hi!
A couple of years ago I installed a SSD on my macbook pro (15", Mid 2010) and swapped the ODD with the original Toshiba HD + optibay caddy. So far it has worked great. Now I need to install a piece of ram-demanding windows only software, so I want to have a bootable windows install, no VMs.
I have spent some time googling and browsing forums and it seems it is possible to install bootable windows 7 or 8 on the secondary drive (HD + optibay), as per this thread. This is the procedure:
    01) Opened the Macbook pro
    02) Removed SSD from primary slot
    03) Removed HDD from secondary Slot (Where The Original superdrive was)
    04) Installed HDD on primary Slot
    05) Installed Superdrive in its original slot
    06) Installed Windows 7 with non-efi installation but through Bootcamp
    07) Everything worked great!
    08) Installed SSD in primary Slot
    09) Installed HDD on secondary Slot
    10) Removed Superdrive.
I am new to bootcamp, efi, GUID... I get most of the instructions it but I don't really get point 06. That's one thing I need to figure out.
Anyway, my question is not so much about the procedure, but it is a concept one. There are going to be two users and two OS in my MBP, so this is what I would like to achieve:
    - SSD: Mac OSX for both users
    - HD on optibay: two (?) partitions.
partition 1 - Windows. Only User A will be using windows
partition 2 - iTunes library. Both User A and B can access it. Windows can too.
                          - Storage for user A. Mac OSX (User A's session) and Windows can access it, so A can work with files in both OS, something like a NAS (?)
    - Micro SD card + adapter on SD slot - Storage for User B
I don't know if this setup is possible. Maybe there should be a specific partition on HD for iTunes library. What I wouldn't like is User A having access to User B's files and viceversa. I don't know either if windows and mac could share the storage for User A, so there is no need to use a flash drive or dropbox to transfer files between OSs. Should I format HD to exFAT?
On top of it, I would like to add more ram to my MBP, up to 8GB. Should I do this before or after installing windows? Or it doesn't really matter?
As you can see, I have a lot of questions and haven't been able to find similar ones online, so I need to understand if this is possible, or what solutions are there to my requirements, and also some help to achieve it.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, any help is really appreciated.

First af all, thanks a lot for all the time you are taking to answer. As you can see, maybe this is a little advanced for me but I am trying to learn
    1. SSD (Part1 = OSX).
    2. SSD (Part2 = Windows).
    3. HDD (Single Part = iTunes). You have to choose whether this is OSX or Windows. The two OSes cannot share library formats, but can share content.
    4. SD Card (UserA).
    5. SD Card (UserB).
The problem is there isn't enough space on SSD to host both OSX and Windows, that's why I need to install Windows on HD. If only I had a bigger SSD...
Also, there's only a SD slot, so I'd rather have just one SD card and not have to be swapping cards depending on the user
In point 3, I don't get why it has to be either OSX or Windows. Can I just format it to a filesystem both OSes accept and use that HD partition as "external storage". I worked some time at a company that had both PCs and Macs and all the files where stored on a NAS any computer could access, read and write. I'm trying to achieve something like that (also for the files of user A, so I can work with them no matter which OS I'm using without having to use a flash drive or dropobox)
Would it be necessary to move the whole home directory? I've been also researching a bit on this and I don't know if some of the folders should stay on SSD (to harness performance).
Are these folders "shared' or walled off from each other's access?
I mean, maybe I would just move Downloads, Images, Music and Videos and leave the rest of the folders on the SSD
It seems you want "parental controls" of some sort on UserB.
Not exactly, but I am a little concerned about UserB messing up with UserA's files and viceversa. Or if an account gets hacked, every user's files could be at risk. I don't know, maybe I am just overthinking it. In the end the most important things I need to achieve are:
    1. OSX on SSD for two users
    2. Windows on HD
    3. iTunes on HD for both users (for windows too would be a plus, but not essential)
    4. UserA's storage on HD, accesible from both OSX and Windows
    5. SD for extra storage for user B
I guess all the permissions thing may be too complicated to achieve and as you can see I am struggling with this already...
Again, thank you very much for all your help!

  • Setting up multiple users / computers with 1 itunes on NAS

    Hi all,
Sorry in advance is this question has already been asked, there is so much stuff floating around on the forum that it would take for ever to surf thru it all.
I recently purchased a Buffalo NAS with itunes server on it.
I'm currently in the process of copying all music folders from local Disk to NAS - some purchases from iTunes, some from my own CD collection.
I will be reinstalling windows on my Desktop PC.
What i want to achive is
    1. A fresh start in iTunes (no ratings, no play counts etc), i will be rebuilding my PC soon so i guess this bit is easily achieved - install iTunes and point to the NAS.
    2. Then install iTunes on a 2nd computer, and when I play a song or rate a song from either computer, ensure that the information is visible from the other computer. (Basically if i rate a song on computer 2, and then log onto computer 1 at a different time, the rating made from computer 2 is visible).
    3. Have the same playlists duplicated on computer 1 and computer 2.
    4. Setup a 2nd user on the 2 computers (Family member) to access the same music folders / files as myself, so that they can rate the music according to their taste without changing the rating I've already made,
Finally, we both have our own itouch players, and want to be able to sync independently using the above.
Thanks a million in advance to anyone who knows the answer to this hopefully easy problem.

  • WRT160n v3 has slow connection when multiple users are connected

As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected.
I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up.
I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date.
We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
Some settings that I have that might help resolve the issue:
    I am using DHCP Configuration.
My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11.
The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might help and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything.
I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304.
Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well.
I consider myself to be computer savy, but I just can't figure out what the problem is as I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well. This problem has presented itself in the past before but unfortunately I cannot remember what I did to fix it.

Try using inSSIDer to help you find the best channel.

If that doesn't help, you can try disabling WMM.
Edit:  You should use WPA2 AES security for best performance.

  • How Can I Login To Multiple User Accounts Simultaneously

I am using an Intel iMac (2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 1GB of memory and 10.4.11. I have Fast User Switching enabled. I restart the Mac every morning. Then I login to a second user account. While at work, I access these accounts via VNC.
Sometimes I forget to login to the second user account. I do it from work via VNC, which sometimes causes complications.
Does OSX support simultaneous multiple user account login? If not, is there a work-around solution such as an AppleScript? This would provide a time savings to me, as well as a convenience if I forgot to login to the second user account before leaving home.
    Thank you.
    Kurt R. Todoroff

Seems to me, in another discussion, the simple Fast User Switching does not
do much really fast or automatically; there are a few faster steps than having
to log into each and every account change (even when FUS is enabled) so
this later development sounds a little more automatic, esp over a distance.
Is there a third party app or valid script that an do the multiple logins automatic
after the first-run; so passwords need not be re-entered, and the screen can just
switch over "fast" to another open account window, ready to go to work in there?
    {And not just a keyboard shortcut to save a few little steps, overall.}
    Whichever way the road turns...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Multiple Users Mounting the Same Network Share?

    Hello, first time posting...
I'll cut right to my main question: Is it possible, on OS X v10.3.9, for multiple users to simultaneously connect to the same network share?
Here in my office, we have a single Mac that is used by multiple people throughout the day. It has two accounts on it, 'Communications' and 'Studio'. 'Communications' is an Admin account that is used by a co-worker who spends the most time on the Mac. He created the no-limitation 'Studio' account for the rest of us to use.
There is a certain Windows network share that we both frequently use. We've found that if one user connects to the share first, the other user will not have access to it; using 'Go -> Connect to Server' will result in the share being greyed out in the list, and the share will not show up in the Finder.
However, there is one way around it. If Studio connects to the share first and then Communications (the admin account) attempts to make a connection of it's own *through a shortcut on the dock*, then a 'clone' of the share will be created on Comm's desktop, with a "-1" after the name (though it might be some other number).
This may sound like I've answered my own question, but what I'm looking for is a way for the non-Admin account to access the share after the Admin account already has (so that we don't have to log-in and disconnect Communications everytime Studio needs to manage files on the share).
We have Thursby Software's DAVE installed on the Mac, but I'm not sure how it fits into all this.
    Any thoughts, suggestions or advice?
    Thanks.

Bizarre. It turned out I could merge them, but only in to the mapped drive - L: - and only by explicitly clicking on the drive icon - if I typed L:\series in to dialog box it converted it back to \\nas\share\series... Not helpful.

  • How can multiple users share a catalog?

PSE 5 - We have multiple users sign on to the same PC.  The catalog is created on a network drive that all have access to.  Photos added to the catalog by one user are not accessible by another user.  Is the catalog profile-dependant?  Is there some setting I am missing?

The users can open the photos directly in Windows Picture Viewer but, for some users, the catalog looks empty in Photoshop Elements.
    1. Verify that each account is indeed loading the same catalog.  Do Help > System Info within the PSE Organizer to verify the catalog name and location is identical.   Perhaps one or more the accounts is opening another default (empty) catalog.
    2. Ensure the Organizer is showing you all the files:
    a. In View > Media Types, check all the types.
    b. In the Organize pane on the right, check Hidden to see if any of the cataloged photos are marked "hidden".
    c. Do Fine > Clear Date Range.
    d. If Back To All Photos is showing in the upper right, click it.
