Music files transfer

How can I transfer my music files from my computer to an external drive to save space and keep the iTunes running, I use a Dell PC with Windos 7

With iTunes closed move the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> to the root of the chosen drive, e.g. as X:\iTunes where X: is the drive letter. Press and hold down shift as you start iTunes, keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library, click Choose and open the library file at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
I'd also recommend you get another drive and backup the library to it at the earliest opportunity.

  • Ipod music file transfer

I have an iMac in the states that's in storage with my entire music library & I used it to load up my ipod before leaving. Now I'm stationed overseas and recently purchased a Powerbook G4. I know there's safeguarding to prevent cross computer ipod sharing. But is there any way to bypass this with Apple directly by proving dual ownership of the computers & any way to prove the music files currently on my ipod came from one of the Macs I own? Or am I stuck hoping this ipod behaves for the next few years?

  • HT4527 Th the music file transfer so slow

How can this be done faster?

Get a faster network (not Internet) connection.
    Get faster computers.
Transfering files via the network has nothing to do with iTunes.  The speed of the network, amount of memory on the computer, and the speed of the processor dictate the speed at which files transfer.

  • 32GB Issue Xperia Z Music File transfer

I have just bought the above Xperia and sourced a separate 32GB SD card. I formatted the card through my PC, then transferred about 20GB of tunes onto it as MP3 files. The phone only shows 427 songs....
Lost as to where the rest are and the length of time it has taken to transfer. Disappointing to say the least! Anyone any ideas how to solve the "visibility issue" When I put the card back to the PC it shows all the files. The guy in the vodafone shop told me this evening that it is likely that the phone will need time to absorb the new files like an Iphone...not having owned an Iphone, I assume he is talking keek!

The likely answer is that some of the files are in an incompatible format such as wma; are you able to confirm that for us?

I got my mp3 files from PC and transfer to iPad 2. it works good.
And I want to transfer this mp3 files from iPad to MacBook Pro.
I don't know how to do it and it seems like I should 'buy some tranfer program from other website'.
Should it word that way? or iTunes program can't deal this issue?
I have changed some music file information (such as Album, Artist, etc) of mp3 files in iPad from iTune in MacBook. Of course, the iPad was connected to the MacBook. However after I disconnected the iPad from the Mac, those changes were not shown in the iPad (edited album name, artist name...). When I connect the iPad to the Mac again, I can see the changes in iTune in the Mac.
    Another issue.

A free app that can deal with music files is Songbird.
There are two paid apps that can transfer just about any type of file; TouchCopy and PhoneView

  • I have an iPod Touch but I currently don't have a PC.  I found an app that would allow me to connect to my network drive and I was able to transfer music files to it.  These files do not show under the Music app and I can't find any way to do it.

I need help from some Apple people. I have an iPod Touch and I wanted to load it up with some fresh music but I currently don't have a PC. I found an app that would allow me to connect to my 2TB network drive directly and I was able to transfer a bunch of music files to the iPod. Unfortunately, these new files do not show under the Music app and I can't seem to find any way to convince the iPod that they are music. I can play them through the file manager only. Android doesn't have this problem, any music I put on my phone is recognized as music and can be played through any of the music apps. Am I missing something or is Apple to inflexible to handle this?

You can't. The only way to get songs in the Music app is to sync from a computer or to download from iTunes.

  • How do i transfer music files from an sd card to a late 2008 model Macbook Pro?

The android phone I have is really messed up and I can't plug it in with a USB cable to transfer the music files so is there anyway I can transfer them with just the sd card? I know on the newer models there's a slot for the sd card adapter but it's not on my model. Any help?

If is a MicroSD card you'll need a MicroSD to SD card adapter. Something like this.
Once you have one of those just insert it into the SD card slot on your Mac then open a Finder window and select all the images and press Command + c to copy then go to the folder you want to put them in and select it and press Command + v to paste to that folder.

  • What Is The Best Way To Transfer Music Files to New MacBook

Just got my new MacBook. So far, love it. Now, I need to transfer all the music files from my iTuns on my old PC to the MacBook. I have all the files backed up on a network drive, that the MacBook can access no problem Should I try to manually copy all the files the Mac hard drive, or can I use the "consolidate" feature in iTunes?? I'm not sure what that does, actually. I want to avoid having to manually File/Add to Library over 1000 songs!
    Any help appreciated!

Unless you've changed the automatic copy option in the Advanced settings of the iTunes preferences, just drag the files into the open iTunes window.

  • How to transfer my iPad 4 iOS 7 music files using iTunes and GoodReader (latest version) app to my Macbook Pro (Mid 2010)

The GoodReader user manual procedure allows me to transfer files from macbook to iPad but not the other way. I can see my iPad music files via iTunes on the MBP screen. However, I cannot select the music files for transfer to GoodReader, My Documents folder. Once they are in the Goodreader folder, then it is easy to transfer them to MBP.
    Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Thanks for your response, Demo.
I'm using the latest version of iTunes, also my MBPS is 10.6.8.  My music files on my ipad are MPEG type and they should be compatible with iTunes and GoodReader. These files were already in my iPad before I installed GoodReader.
I want to move the files from my ipad to my MBPS. I previously thought that I am supposed to move these files myself to GoodReader documents folder by following some steps. But after reading the instructions for file transfer, I realized that the GR documents folder should show ALL the files on my iPad. While it shows a couple of documents that I downloaded after the GR was installed, it does NOT show the music files that were on iPad before. This is the problem.
I'm wondering if there is another way of getting these files to theMBP. These files should have a physical location on the iPad. Is it possible to access that location and move them from there? I tried to drag and drop these files from iTunes to a thumb drive in Finder but it did not work.

  • Home Sharing - how to get music files to transfer from one computer to another...

I have two computers in my home authorised for Home Sharing - I have no problems locating the other library on either of my computers. However, when I am on iTunes in Computer A and I click onto Computer B's music library (so that I can transfer music file to Computer A) I am unable to move Computer B's music into Computer A. I have both iTunes open on each computer and ther are both using the same Wifi connection.
    In iTunes Help, it says:
         - select the music files that I want to share into Computer A. (this bit I can do).
         - in the 'show' menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, select 'items not in my library'. This is where I run into trouble - there does not appear to be any such menu!
         - select items I wish to import, then click on 'import'. - again, no such button appears to exist!
I have updated my iTunes software to the latest version available on both computers. This is very frustrating for something that should be quite simple - I would very much appreciate any suggestions or solutions...

    Hi arastis10,
If you are having issues transfering songs between computers set up for Home Sharing, you may find the following articles helpful:
    Apple Support: Understanding Home Sharing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819
With Home Sharing, you can stream music and video from one authorized computer to another, or simply drag music between computer libraries. You can also choose to have iTunes automatically import purchases you make on any of your Home Sharing computers to your own library. To do so, select the library and use the Settings button at the lower right of the iTunes window to check what you'd like copied.

  • How can i transfer music files from my PC to my Mac?

I had a windows XP and all my music files were in the Windows Media Player! Is there any way i can transfer them to my Mac Leopard?

It depends what format they are in. If they are MP3s then simply grab them all up and copy them to a Flash drive (or an external HD), and then drag-drop onto iTunes on the Mac (or Add to Library and navigate to the files).
If they are WMA then they have to be converted to an iTunes-friendly format, e.g. MP3. If you already have an app on the PC then use that, else there are apps for Mac that will do it - I believe one of them is called Switch Converter.
But don't worry, your music files will travel from PC to Mac fine.

How do I transfer a music file from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone?

If you download Adode Reader (free but very limited) or GoodReader (many features) - you can use file sharing.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under Devices. Click on the Apps tab in the iTunes window on the right. Scroll down to the File sharing apps window. Click on the file sharing app that you are using (Adobe Reader or GoodReader in this example). Drag the document from the desktop onto the file sharing window on the right side - or click on the add button in the lower right corner - and navigate to where the file is on the Mac and select it that way.
