Music playback not working correctly iPhone 5S/4S iOS 7

Let's say I'm listening to music on my shiny new iPhone 5S at work(or anywhere). And then I stop the music, unplug my headphones, then proceed to my car. I then connect my iPhone to my car stereo(Kenwood KCD-X993) via USB. The music should start to playback where I left off, but this is not what happens. It goes to the "songs" list, and plays the first song. Always the first song, very annoying. Before I got my iPhone 5S, I had/have an iPhone 4S, which worked perfectly until the iOS 7 update. Both phones do the same thing. I believe there is a bug preventing the memory of the proper playback position of where you leave off.
Anyone else experiencing this, or have any suggestions to possibly prevent this from happening?

I have an older Kenwood head unit but my symptoms are exactly the same with an iPhone 4s running iOS7. So damned annoying. I'm am sick of Apple breaking something every time there's an iOS update. If it's not podcasts it's Smart Playlists. If it's not Smart Playlists it's accessory compatibility. Round and around we go.
The last time there was a serious compatibility issue with Kenwood stereos, around iOS4/5, I seriously considered replacing the head unit with something more modern so I could use Bluetooth. Reading all the iOS7 Bluetooth woes in this forum makes me so glad I didn't do that.

  • Wifi sync not working on iPhone 5s with iOS 8.0.2

I have an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.0.2, and iTunes 12.0.1.26. Sync via wifi doesn't work (with one partial exception[1]). USB sync works fine, but when the phone isn't physically connected via a USB cable, iTunes doesn't know it exists. On the phone, in Settings/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, "Sync Now" is disabled and it says "Sync will resume when '[my computer name]' is available". It's got the correct computer name.
In the online help, I find the following claim:
When the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes.
In my case, the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, and the iOS device does not appear in iTunes. I had a previous iPhone 5S which was able to sync via wifi to the same desktop computer on the same network. That one may have been iOS 7 (I can't check because it tried to learn to swim).
The checkbox in "Summary" is checked:
I tried unchecking it, applying, checking again, and applying again. I then restarted both iTunes and the phone.
[1] Partial Exception: I found an "answer" on here where you turn off three different random features on the iPhone, turn them back on, reboot the iPhone and the computer, and then WiFi sync does actually works -- exactly once. Now it's disabled again. All that fussing around was enormously more hassle than just finding a USB cable; if I wanted to spend half an hour performing 10-second tasks I'd have bought another Motorola product.
Is there a solution that works permanently, or do we just wait for a fix in a future OS revision?

On your iPhone 4S go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Click on Wi-Fi to both disable and enable it. If you are still unable to enable this setting it may be possible that the iOS7 update did not take properly.

Well it asks for you to rotate the red ball around the circle, which I do and then the compass displays but there is no direction or bearing provided, just some co-ordinates in the bottom RH cnr. If I move it about or press the compass it does nothing !
Also at the top there is a red arrow on a narrow white marker which if I press down on seems to give a white blob and then disappears. not clear what that is for either
I have tried resetting the phone and not having true north marked, makes no difference to when I first tried it.

  • Spotlight does not work on iphone 6 with ios 8.1.2

Since a few weeks the spotlight search does not work anymore on my iphone. I tried removing all subjects in the setiings menu and adding them again.

No, it should work with the iPad. It's not a matter of what version of iOS is on the device.
The card reader has never been compatible with any iPhone. It is compatible with iPads.

  • Reminders notifications not working on iPhone 4s running ios 8.1.1

    Help!
Suddenly reminder notifications are not working on my iPhone 4s running ios 8.1.1. Have tried restarting phone, turning off notifications and then turning back on again etc to no avail.
Can anyone help or does anyone know an alternative app that might do the trick.
    Thanks in advance.

Had this resolved by a very nice Apple bod. I ended up doing a full factory reset again. It worked this time as there is now ios 8.1.2
    Hope this works for you.......

  • Updated iPhone 5s to IOS 7.0.3 - now volume control on earphone lead not working, Updated iPhone 5s to IOS 7.0.3 - now volume control on earphone lead not working

Before updating my iPhone 5s to IOS 7.0.3 from 7.0.2 volume control on supplied earphones worked fine.
Now the iphone is unresponsive to that volume control.

I spoke with my service department, I have insurance so they just sent me a new phone. Good news? Maybe.
It was refurbished not new like they said. It had iOS 6.0 and when I plugged it into the PC to update from the backup that I had done on the other phone, it gave an error message about the sofware being too old. Then it only updated the stuff from a year ago and ate all the photos and addresses and phone numbers and notes that were less than a year old. I've spent most of the last 24 hours trying to get back what I could from other sources.
So: good, but not wonderful.  Be careful if you replace it, and holler at Apple until they come out with a fix. Now I wish I had just put up with no ringer tones. Sigh. Good luck, y'all.
Shouldn't matter, but my carrier is Verizon, not ATT.

  • Gapless playback not working on iphone.

I have imported my band's latest release into itunes, there is allot of ambience inbetween tracks so it is important that the playback is gapless, and it is when played in itunes but not once I have synced it to my iphone. When played through the music  app there is an incredibly annoying half a second gap in between tracks.
I removed the album from my iphone and then re-synced it which temporarily fixed the issue, i checked again later in the day and the annoying gap has come back.
Whats really frustrating is that i listen to other albums on my iphone and the playback is gapless so it oddly seems to just be this one custom album.
Please advise as we are wanting to release this as a free download and if everyone gets this jarring gap in between songs it will sound terrible.
    Thanks in advance.

Tom i was having the exact same problem, when i uploaded by bands future album on to the iPhone there was gaps even though there wasn't on iTunes. Then i discovered that your iPhone needs to realise its an album you're listening to. So instead of choosing 'Artists' when selecting your music, find it under 'Albums' and the tracks will blend into eachother seemlessly.

  • ICloud music download not working on iPhone 5

Is anyone having problems with the music app getting tracks From icloud on their iPhone 5 after the Verizon cellular patch?  When I open a play list and hit shuffle, it starts on one track and then starts flipping thru the playlist.  It never plays anything.

Whew.... got it to work after days of trying to figure.
Got answer here:  http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1450821 from zblaze.
Wiped phone completely, restored as NEW iphone through itunes.  Checked 'Sync all Music'.
After that happens you can restore from backup.

    Hello patmac0708,
It may help to force close all open apps, then reset your iPhone.

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the behavior persists, the next step would be to restore the device.

I may be a bit late, but I had the same problem. It seems to come from a faulty .desktop somewhere on your machine. Just try to remove parts of ~/.cache/docky/docky.desktop.???.cache (??? depends on your locale), until you find the right one.
My problem was due to /usr/share/applications/brasero-nautilus.desktop including this line :
    NoDisplay=true;
    instead of the correct :
    NoDisplay=true
(I had quite a lot of trouble to find that one !)
You are not late, you are just in time, I tried to remove the semicolon after "true" before deleting one by one all the entries, and it worked right away! Thanks!

    HELP!!!

This is happening to my iPad Mini too, unfortunately. The best thing to do is to wait for the next update, which might come soon. But, you might want to go to your local Apple store and ask if they can do anything about it. Hope this helps

  • Here is what to do if 3G is not working on iPhone after the iOS 5.1 update

You can simply reset the Network by tapping Settings>General>Reset>Reset Networking Settings. Be aware that this cause your iPhone to forget all wifi information (user name, password, etc). I think Apple should be concerned with this problem since I see quite a few users are getting in trouble with their 3G network.

That is only displayed on the iPhone 4S, that is why. It has to do with the iPhone 4S's ability to connect to the higher speed network.
