Music Store Bough SOngs skip half way through

This is definately strange. Its happened to all my songs ever since the last iTunes V. 6 came out and no update has fixed it. Any1 know a possible solution to fix it?

  • Songs "skip" half-way through, or start half-way through

I have had my 3GS since the end of October. I just recently noticed that some songs will skip half-way through to the beginning of the next song, or when a song is over the next song will start half-way through or three-quarters of the way through. I then just tap on rewind and it will play the entire song from the beginning. I should mention that it's not always the same songs, and, I generally listen to the iPod in my car through an audio cable.
Is this a common issue? I've seen similar posts but not exactly like this (or I've simply missed them). Is there a fix?
I've just noticed that Shake to Shuffle is "on", so I'll try turning that off and see if that helps at all.

I have something similar and think I might know what is causing it but not how to fix it. I recently created a playlist in iTunes then copied to the iPod. While creating the playlist I listened to some of the songs for the first minute or so. Now I find that while playing the playlist on the iPod those songs that I previewed start from where I stopped listening to them in iTunes. If I go back into iTunes and play those songs again they do the same thing, start from where I left off the previous time. What I'm trying to figure out now is how to prevent this from happening but always have songs play from the start. I suspect that when copying the playlist to the iPod, it has also copied across information about where iTunes is expecting the song to start from when it's played again.
If it's of any relevance (not sure yet) I recently started using Genius in iTunes although these songs were not picked through Genius

  • HT201272 songs quit half way through playing and next song begins

I just downloaded an album and each song quits half-way through and the next song begins  playing on pc computer

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • Music playback - some tracks start half way through - help?

I have an Ipod Touch 32gb 4th gen.
On music playback, there are certain tracks that will not start at the beginning of the track and start half way through or even towards the end of the track.
This does not occur on playback on my 32gb classic, an 8gb nano, on laptop or on Apple TV.
The local apple store have replaced the Touch with another and the same happens on the same songs.
Having had the classic for nearly 4 years with no faults, I thought I'd step into 2010 and get with it a little, only to find that music playback is problematic.
All software is up to date, I have been through restores etc. with the local Apple Store.
    Any suggestions guys?

We are having the same issue with our iPod touches and iPad, and yes, it is very annoying. I came here searching for a solution, but all I see is you all with the same problem/question.
I'm assuming this behavior probably has something to do with the new AirPlay in iOS and its ability to stream media to another iOS device and pick up where it left off. However, I find this extremely annoying for music, since songs start halfway through when in the middle of a playlist.
I have found no solution to this issue, and it is one Apple needs to resolve, especially when we have "Remember Playback Position" UNchecked for all of our music.
Here's hoping Apple puts a little more effort in the future to help us actually manage our media well, instead of crap feature bloat like Ping, Genius, etc.

  • Some songs end half way through

I have an 80 GB iPod. I bought it new and originally formatted it for Windows and connected it to iTunes in Windows. I later bought a Mac, reformatted the iPod for Mac and had iTunes copy all my song files to it again. Most of my music collection are MP3 files that I personally ripped from CDs, using a few different programs and encoders.
The problem I am going to describe has occurred on the iPod under both formats, and over multiple iTunes updates.
There are some songs on my iPod that it will not play to the end. What happens is that about half way through the song, the song stops, and the screen indicates the song is paused with two (2) seconds remaining. It ALWAYS says two seconds remaining, regardless of how much time was actually left in the song. I can use the next song button to get to the next song, although it takes a few seconds longer than normal for the iPod to start playing again.
There are only a handful of songs I've identified so far that this happens with. For any song that this happens with, it ALWAYS happens; in other words, it's not that the song sometimes plays through and sometimes doesn't; if it happens at all, it always happens.
The particular songs that I've identified so far play fine in iTunes on the Mac. Back when I used Windows, I noted that the problem songs from the iPod would play fine in Windows iTunes or in other Windows media players.
So far, I have only thought of two solutions to this problem. The first was to uncheck the song and sync the iPod so as to remove the song from the iPod, then recheck it and sync again, so as to recopy the song to the iPod. This did not help. I even tried unchecking, syncing, checking some other songs and syncing, then rechecking the problem song and syncing again, so as to ensure that the song file got copied to a different physical area on the iPod's hard drive, but to no avail; the song still would not finish.
My second solution was to re-rip the song from the CD, replace the file in the iTunes library, and resync the song to the iPod. This worked. So of course it seems that I should just do this, but it's inconvenient for several reasons. One is that I have a lot of my CDs stored away, or no longer have access to many CDs I've ripped from because they belonged to friends or family members. Also, this is really just brute-forcing the problem; it isn't really fixing anything.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem, and if so, did you come up with any other fixes or do you have any other suggestions?

Yes, in theory re-converting would lessen the quality further. However, I have heard people claim (unsubstantiated) that if you are encoding with the same encoder at the same bit rate, then since it will use the same algorthymn, it won't really change the file. I have absolutely no idea if that is true or not.
But... I figure some slight loss in quality re-encoding is still better quality than a song that only plays half way and then stops, right? I suppose you could always tag those files in the comment section with something like "Re-Encoded" and then later if you gain access to your old CDs, you can then make a Smart Playlist to gather those songs and then re-rip them again from your CDs.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • I upgraded iTunes to version 11.0.5 but now it does not sync my songs properly.  Some songs are synced entirely, but other songs stop half way through.

I upgraded my iTunes software to version 11.0.5 but now it won't sync my songs properly, either on my iPod classic or on my new iPhone 4s.  The problem seems to happen with random songs: some songs will play through to the end, but other songs cut off part way through the song.  At first I thought my iPod was defective, but then it happened on my new iPhone 4s.  On my phone, I can see that the song is still playing, but the sound cuts off.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this?  Thank you.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

  • Tracks sometimes skip half way through

    Hello,
I have a 6th generation Ipod Nano 16gb. I've had it for a couple of months or so and it has been fine. However, the last couple of weeks I've started to notice it skipping tracks before they have finished playing. Sometimes it'll only play for about 10 seconds, other times go about half way and then skip. This seems to gradually be getting worse and probably happens about 1 song in 10 now.
I've already tried restoring the Ipod and trying different settings (like disabling crossfade). It has the latest software. Although it seems to repeat the problem on the same tracks, it used to play those tracks absolutely fine. It is affecting music that has been on the Ipod since the beginning, not just new tracks. It also can happen on low bitrate  tracks that had been taken from CDs and higher bitrate downloaded songs, so filesize does not seem to be a factor.
Please advise on what steps I can take. Also, it seems a bit weird that support directs me to post in the communities section. Can anyone advise how to go about getting it repaired under warranty if a fix can't be found?
    Thanks
    Steve

no the master volume curve is off and i have played each track as solo and they all go silent at 2:34
I hate to think but I m assuming when it got stuck opening that day it probably got to 2:34 and then when i forced quit it erased everything after
but the wave patterns are still there???
i have tried unlocking all the rtacks then relocking...but to no avail
    grrrr...frustrating
(ironically the song itself is called "frustration"..maybe this is some divine sign)

  • Itunes purchased song stops half way through

I recently transfered my itunes library to a new Macbook 13 inch. It was tricky to do because my library was on an external hard drive. I did have to redownload some, but not all of my purchased content. Now many of my itunes purchased songs are clipped midway through the song when played. This is only happening to songs that I purchased in itunes. Any ideas as to how to fix this problem?  Thanks!

If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.

  • Song Plays Half Way Through

Okay, why is it that when I set my iPod Touch to play (shuffle) my play-list that some songs do not play all the way through before my iPod shuffles to the next song?
I have checked the song(s) in my computers iTunes library to see if they play all the through, both single play as well as shuffled and they play fine on my computer with out being cut off before it ends.
Only happens on my iPod Touch.

I recently purchased an Ipod Touch.  I have the same problem.  It doesn't matter what type of files either, Itunes or CD ripped.  Nor does it matter if I have it set to shuffle or not.
It also started to mess up songs on my Nano the same way.
I've come to expect these type of problems with Crapsoft and Worthless Dell products.  But I never figured it would be Apple.  Say it ain't so, Apple!  Et tu?

  • HT1325 I have just bought a song from Itunes and it skips half way through the song to another song. How do I fix it

I bought a song from Itunes yesterday and it will only play through about a third of the song before it skips. I tried to fast forward it past the part where it usually skips however the song doesn't play it just now stops when I fast forward it. How do I fix it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Major problem: Songs stopping half way through and skipping to next song.

At first I thought it was an iphone problem, but then I noticed it was doing it on my 5th gen ipod. Ive also narrowed it down to only songs bought on itunes. Anyone have a solution?

I have the same problem with a handful of my recent (mp3) downloads from Emusic. It happens at the same spot in both ITunes and on my IPod (Generation 5). However, the files work flawlessly in Windows Media Player or even on my car stereo reading the mp3 from a burned CDRom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • IPod Skips Half Way Through

My iPod Video 30gb Windows 1.2.1 has recently encountered an unusual problem which I can't seem to figure out with any kind of technical help.
When I play a song (half of them)it plays it to around half or 75% and skips all the way to the end and says theres a few seconds left and freezes. I have 401 songs and I used the On-The-Go playlist tool to make a list of all the songs that have issues, there were 219 songs. When I went to the root folder and played the music files that had problems it played perfectly all the way to the end. I have tried restoring it so many times and lost so many videos.
    Any ideas would be nice.
BTW My iPod is still within warranty and I have around 230 days left of service can I take my iPod to an Apple Centre in Australia and ask them to fix it free of charge?
    Thanks In Advance

Has it been doing that before the 1.2.1 update?
That is strange, you can take it back to the Apple Centre you purchased it from, or request a replacement from Apple vis this website:

  • Songs Starting Half Way Through

Hi there, I just got a new 5th gen nano to replace my 8gb 4th gen, and so far it's a complete nightmare, the songs shuffle slower, I can't shuffle through songs whilst playing or all my songs will end up a few seconds in when I play them next, does anyone know how to turn this off as it is the most annoying things I've seen on these great devices, I realise why they have done it, but I hardly ever skipped a song while listening to it
    Please help!!

    Hello Duffy_hibs,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you tried a simple reset of the iPod to see if that does any good? There may be some sort of hangup somewhere with the iPod's software. To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together for a couple of seconds until the Apple logo appears.
If still no luck, it may be a good idea to restore the iPod with iTunes. This will wipe all media from the iPod, set it back to its original default settings, and reload a fresh copy of your iPod's software on it. Worth a shot if need be.

i've posted this before but nobody answered. When i skip forward a song then return to it at a later date, it starts from where i skipped from. can i stop this happening, it ruins listening to the album and shuffling. the only way i can see to get around this is to rewind then forward so to leave the track at the begining. please could someone tell me if i can or can't sort this. thanks

Select the song(s), do Get Info and look under Options. Do you have a checkmark next to "Remember Playback Position"?

  • TS1362 On one purchased album some songs stop half way through.

Are these files corrupted? If so can I re-download working files?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library and then download again using the Purchased link in the right-hand column of the iTunes Store home page.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.
