By 'not letting me' you mean ... ? If you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
Debit cards are no longer accepted as a valid payment method in all countries - from this page :
You may be able to use other payment types in your country, like debit and Maestro cards.
which implies that they are not accepted in all countries, and there have been a number of posts about them being declined.
For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account.
If the card is being declined then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support and see if they know why it's being declined (but you may not be able to use a debit card) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management

No this was absolutely of no help what so ever!!!!1I have had this issue before and it was also a nightmare. I don't understand why you have to go thru so much pain until you can talk to a real person. I don't have 48 hours. I use this app to make money. Why won't Apple accept debit cards to buy an iPhone 5? I ordered 2 new iPhones at ATT on Monday using my debit card. I was just notified by ATT that Apple wont accept debit cards so my order cannot go through. I don't use credit cards so I don't carry debt! They (ATT) re-emphasized this is not their policy, but Apple's and that I would have the same problem if I went to Verizon. Is this really the policy and if so why? Apple has no problems accepting debit cards for my iTunes account?!
I think this is an AT&T thing not an Apple policy, I had this battle with them before when the 4s came out.So this time I went directly to the Apple stor, I had no problem pre-ordering my Iphone5 on the 14th with my debit card, already shipped will be here the 21st. To use iCloud, you must first set it up with your Apple ID on a device with iOS 5 or a Mac with OS X Lion.
On an iOS 5 device go to Settings>iCloud and sign in using your Apple ID. -

You can't tell which device a purhcase was made on, but if your family members each have their own iTunes account to which your card is linked then you can check the purchase history on each of those accounts via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes - that should have 'purchase history' section with a 'see all' link to the right of it

iTunes may still ask you for information from your card on file if that information has lapsed or needs updating. The card information on file has to be correct, no matter what purchasing option you will be exercising for this purchase.

I am having a lot of trouble with trying to use my debit card on purchase of itune apps or music. Whenever i put my card information in it tells me that this card is invalid. But there is no way that my card is invalid because i just got it last week. So the only thing i haven't done yet is call my bank to check and see if all my bank statements match but if they do then have no idea what to do to get this to work with my computer, ipad mini, or ipod HELP! PLEASE!
I am having this same problem and I have even contacted my bank. The address they have is EXACTLY the way I am typing it. It does match. I do not understand.

Why can't I use a debit card to verify apple id?
I am an adult parent with 3 kids and trying to set up family sharing. The process requires that I use a credit card to verify my age, but I don't use credit cards (purposefully) so I entered my bank debit card. It says I can't use a debit card, it must be a credit card. That is ridiculous, a bank card should be better proof than a credit card, and many people I know do not use credit cards purposefully. So it isn't letting me approve and pay for my children's account purchases. There must be a way to do this without needing to use a credit card.

As long as the debit card bears one of the brand marks that Apple accepts, such as MasterCard or VISA, then yes, Apple usually accepts debit cards. -
how do I make it so that the one computer that has the main itunes account on it be used on other computers, when it comes to backing up phones and not deleting data off of phone that isnt on that computer itunes becasse its all on the one main computer. Baiscally the problem is that one comuter and one account has always been sued for eey persons itunes. Now if we want to be able to backup and use itunes on our own computers fro our iphones and such, how will all he data that is on our phones not be deleted once its plugged into a new computer? option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. Whether you can use a debit card depends upon what country that you are in, have you tried adding it to your account to see if it's accepted ? If not then are iTunes gift cards available in your country so that you can use them as your payment method - they are not available in all countries and they are country-specific, they can only be redeemed and used in their country of issue.
