My address book won't open after installing Lion. Has this happened to anyone else?

I recently upgraded to Lion and couldn't be more pleased, except that my address book won't open now. It just bounces and then gives up and sends an error report to Apple. Please help.

I have the same problem. Has anyone solved this problem?

I'm sure it has, with millions and millions of people upgrading.
How does knowing this help you in any way?

It isn't happening to everyone else, but if there was a trend of it happening to a lot of people, that would probably show up in the official InDesign user forum. But there aren't a lot of crash reports there, so it isn't something that's happening to everyone. There are a couple, so you might look at those. But since there is not a huge wave of crash reports, the problem might be more related to a problem on the system rather than a problem with InDesign, like a corrupted font.
The best place to troubleshoot is probably over at the Adobe forum since the users there know InDesign very well.

  • Address Book no longer works after installing Lion on MAC Book Air.

Ive checked my updates and it is not one of them. I am new to MAC and I am clueless as to what to do. Any suggestions?

By when you write "click on the address book", I'll presume you mean you click on the Address Book icon in the Dock.  Did you ever move around things in the Applications folder?  In general, it's not a good idea to move Apple's applications from their normal locations.
To verify this, click-and-hold on the Address Book icon, then when the pop-up menu appears, roll to "Options", then to "Show in Finder".  I'll guess that the folder of the resulting window is not of the Applications folder.
To fix the problem in the short run, drag the Address Book icon out of the Dock.  Then open the Applications folder, find Address Book, and drag it to the Doc.  Eventually you'll want to delete the old applications, but in Lion that's harder to do than previously.

What a super, super pain.  I upgraded from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4 and the MBP (MacBookPro4,1) would not start, except in Safe Mode.  I tried downloading the update from Apple - didn't help.  I tried the Combo update - didn't help. Couldn't find anything on the discussion boards, except that it was a problem with the graphic drivers.
Finally decided to do what lgiraldin did - wiped the HD, installed 10.6.3 from my origional DVD, migrated my data from the copy of 10.8.4 I had made, the upgraded to 10.7.  Everything seems to be inplace except Mail would crash.  Re-installed 10.7.5 from the recovery disk but it didn't help.  Replacing MAIL with Pacifist didn't help.
I also found that my timemachine backup could not be used for recovery as it is on an Iomega network drive - the recovery partition does not allow me to mount the Iomega.
I found an installation of 10.7.5 that I had on another disk.  Booted from that, copied the folder to the MacBook Pro HD, and now mail opens and runs correctly.  Better than 10.8.3 too.  In 10.8.3 it would often take 100% cpu and lock the entire computer for 1 or 2 seconds.
Thanks to Terry Mahoney and ApplesDownfall especially as I didn't have to wipe and re-install everything a THIRD time.  I've wasted most of three days because there was no way to back out the update.  Now I know that I have to create a Carbon Copy clone of my HD before any update.   I'm going to stick with 10.7 until **** freezes over!

  • Windows xp; Current Firefox version; won't open mail tabs on AOL. Explorer still works... Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm Running the current Version of Firefox. Have the most up to date version of Windows XP.
Most recently I've not been able to get any action when I click on AOL "check mail" buttons.
(i.e. new mail, sent mail, etc.) they still work if I go to Explorer... i just hate going that route though...
    Anybody else seen this. Strange....
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards,

I don't use AOL, so let me give you some general suggestions, in case you haven't already tried them.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled ''(Flash and other plugins still run)''
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • Has this happened to anyone else? My iPhone4 recently crashed, as I was opening up an app, and now I can't get it to turn on. I don't know if it's the phone, or the screen, because none of my sounds are working either. It had 90% battery when it crashed.

So, I know it wasn't the battery. Help?!

And, I tried resetting it, and it STILL won't turn on. I have tried resetting it twice, no luck so far, though.

Next Restore the phone using itunes and set up as a new phone --> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

It has happened to others, which you would have known by searching the forum.  This is very basic forum etiquette.
Use the search button at the top of the page, or look in the MORE LIKE THIS area to the right.  You'll find your answer in no time!

  • TS1398 I installed the iOS 6 update for my ipad 3, now it will not connect to the internet. Has this happened to anyone else?

Actually I cannot access my home wifi from my laptop or cell anymore either.
I reset the modem and router about 10 times and called my ISP who said there's no problem on their end.
I've tried everything I can think of. Any advice?

Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
If that doesn't work, then update iTunes on computer, backup device to iTunes, then restore the device.

  • 10.4.7 update and now my Address Book won't open

I recently ran a software update and the Mac OS X Update 10.4.7 errored out. After the required restart I now find my Address Book won't open.
Any advise to fix this problem?
Is it safe to run the 10.4.7 update again or will this problem repeat?

    hi there--
i would check out this thread. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1863756&#1863756 basically, try repairing permissions first. then if that does nothing, see if you have your addressbook.data file. it's possible you could rename a file like this user to regain your info. if the addressbook.data file is there, select it and get info on it by pressing the apple and i on the keyboard. ensure that you have read/write access to the folder. make yourself the owner and make the rest of the fields as open as possible. also, if the address book launches in a different user (you could create a test user) you could do a number of things. if you have a backup of the address book in another place you can try pulling the com.apple.addressbook.plist from the preferences folder in the home user library. do not do this if you have no backup. also you could check ~library/address book plug-ins. if there's stuff in there, try pulling folder to desktop and restarting the computer. keep me posted as to whether or not you make any progress. • Apple Address Book Won't Open

On my iMac G5, my Apple Address Book won't open. It has been working perfectly and I've never had a problem since buying the computer about a year ago. Though the name appears on the top menu bar and the triangle shows beneath the Address Book icon on the Dock, nothing appears on the screen. I ran the Disk Utility Repair Permissions, but aht didn't correct it. I've rebooted and that didn't solve the issue either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
I don't know how to troubleshoot Address Book, other than replacing its data with a backup copy if you have one, or just getting rid of that data. Address Book stores the preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist, and everything else in the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder.
You may try moving those files out of there, to the Desktop. You may try removing just the com.apple.AddressBook.plist preferences file (so that Address Book re-creates it again), for example, or removing just AddressBook.data and renaming AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data. Whatever you do, make a backup copy of those files first, just in case.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder.
