My Adobe Air setup fails to update to v. 3.1.0.4880 from v 2.6.0.19120

I need to send the install log file and MSI Installer log files, but cant cut and paste the notepad results here. The problem appears to be shown in the MSI Installer section, tohough I am out of my league. It interacts with HTC Sync, and I was notified of an update to AIR. Upon trying to do the update, the install would not go through, and I uninstalled Air through the add remove programs section, but it would not unistall completely. now I neither have an older version that works, nor a new version that I can get to install, as the message  comes up  Error 1714 ....... System Error 1612. Please advise

Not built-in. You would have to create your own installer for this (which would have to be a platform specific executable).

  • Adobe application manager fails to update/install

Please help me resolve this error and update App Manger properly.
I have downloaded and am running Creative Cloud CS6 versions of Illustrator and Photoshop that I installed back in Decmember.  Now I'm trying to download more applications and am encountering this error:
I click 'download' on InDesign (for example)
Download initiates launch of Application manager, App manager opens main window then "initializing installer window"
Application manager flashes this warning for a split second: "other instances of adobe application manager are currently running which must be closed before installing this product. Please close or wait for them to complete." (see image). This warning closes on its own after just a second.
Then it continues to install for a few minutes, asks for my password then fails with the message, "We've encountered the following issues, Adobe Application manager failed to install" (no error number, see image)
Photoshop and Illustrator still run fine, but none of my Adobe apps (including Air) will update properly now. I have tried deleting the App Manger files from applications > utilities and re-installing, but that also creates an error.
I have searched for duplicate app manager files but have come up empty.  I've run the support advisor app and it checks out fine.  I have a token from that if it helps.
I'm running iMac 10.6.8 and I also have CS5 installed on this computer if it makes a difference.
Any help would be appreciated.   I'd like to be able to run the apps I'm currently paying a monthly fee for.

I'm going to write this information cause it was so darn frustrating and after two days I finally got it - so here goes - resolution:
I'm running windows 7, and was trying to download cloud which apparently I was forced to do based on my subscription base (was on CS6 before that)
Step 1: start task manager and close ALL adobe running apps including akami session
Step 2: click on the windows icon and type in search bar %appdata%, enter
Step 3: in browser bar above of folder, click on "appdata" (my file directory when i typed step two was C:\Users\study\AppData\Roaming, and I need to be be at C:\Users\study\AppData)
Step 4: Click Local, then Adobe, then oobe, delete the oobe file
Step 5: Go the the following to download the "cleaner tool": http://download.macromedia.com/pub/creativecloud/cleanertool/win/Adobe_Creative_Cloud_Clea ner_Tool.zip
Step 6: Unzip the file and click on the AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool.exe, that was in my directory as follows (dependent on where you download and unzip of course) C:\Users\study\Downloads\adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool (1)\win
Step 7: select (e) in the black box for "english", select (y) for yes, select creative cloud (whichever option # that is) and again anything with creative cloud (this did NOT delete my other adobe files, which I feared may - but I was simply instructing it to clean/delete the creative cloud.
Step 8: close the black window
Step 9: Click here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773  and download the creative cloud adobe application manager
    Step 10: Run the application
Step 11: Log in and download the software you want
If that doesn't work, what I did is between steps 4 and 5 I restarted my computer, then I went into task manager and closed all adobe apps.  I'm not sure I had to do this step but I was desperate after 2 days doing whatever.  Each tech person gave me different information.  The last person helped me best, but I spoke with her via chat AFTER I had rebooted the computer.  If you need support click http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and I personally did the "chat" so I wouldn't have to wait.
Hope this helps anyone who hasn't figured it out!

  • Unable to launch adobe story app, because adobe air installer fails

    Hi,
I am having problems launching the adobe story app. Everytime I try to open it it tries to update and it then launches the adobe air installer which always fails and I get the following message: Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.
If I close the message it launches Adobe Story and it happens again, and it goes into an endless loop.
I've re-installed the latest version of Adobe air on my computer, and it still happens. I am able to login to Adobe Story on the webrowser but there's a lot of files missing. From reading the discussions I'm thinking this might be because its a free account, and the app is no longer available, and since it didn't sync for a long time.
If this is the case, is there a way to recover the missing files without upgrading to a paid account?
I don't want to pay for an account and discover that the files are still missing.
or is this a completely different issue?
In case this information is relevant I use an iMac with Mac OS X version 10.7.4, 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
We have recently pushed out a new build of Adobe Story.
If the update is still failing, please mail me(roverma <at> adobe <dot> com) the contents of AIR installation logs.
You can get the contents of the install log using the following steps:
    Mac OS X
Open the Console application from the Applications/Utilities folder.
Select System.log from the log list on the left.
In the String Matching filter field, type Adobe AIR.
Select all, and then copy and paste into a text file.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Air installation fails on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Air and when I try to open the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe file (also tried as administrator) nothing is done. I can see the installer file being opened on the Task Manager, but the CPU is not being used. The installation log goes like this:
[2014-07-12:18:13:16] Runtime Installer begin with version 14.0.0.110 on Windows 8 x86
    [2014-07-12:18:13:16] Commandline is:

It keeps giving me the same message. By the way I have no other installation issues. It's only with Adobe AIR. Don't know if it's a common failure, but couldn't find any solution on the internet.
    EDIT:
Yay i Fixed the Problem , here is the solution :
    1. Open a command window, elevated as administrator
    2. Navigate to the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe file
    3. Run the command "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent"
    Hope it 'll help.

It is unknown if you can install it in Win8, particularly the 64-bit system. It would generally be recommended that you buy the new version AA XI. If you have Win8, have you tried the install? Did you succeed, though some parts will likely fail in any case? Can you open Acrobat and Distiller? If the latter two are yes, then you will find that you will be missing the Adobe PDF printer and AcroTray will not function. You only alternative is to install a color PS printer, such as one from HP, change the name to Adobe PDF, and change the port to FILE. Assuming the rest works, you can then create PDFs by printing to the Adobe PDF printer and creating the resultant PS printer (may be a PRN extension). Open that file in Distiller and you should have a PDF. That would be the process, but have no idea if it works on Win8 or 8.1. Let us know the results if you try.
I have followed this process for both AA5 and AA7 on Win7 (32 and 64 bit system respectively). I don't use them there, but the process did work in both cases.

  • Adobe AIR installation fails

    Scenario
Attempting to install the Adobe AIR runtime (or any AIR apps requiring it) on Snow Leopard (possibly earlier versions of OS X also).
    Symptom
AIR installation will hang prior to completion on primary user account, however, AIR will successfully install on a newly created OS X admin user. AIR applications will not install on primary user account either. Disk has no errors, filesystem is healthy. All file/folder owners and permissions are as expected. Adobe troubleshooting knowledgebase article does not resolve issue, Adobe recommends reinstallation of OS X(!). All '.plist' files appear to be uncorrupt (e.g., by running Preferential Treatment).
    Cause
There is an unidentified conflict between a preference file in your primary user account Preferences folder and the files installed by the AIR runtime. The resolution below involves less inconvenience than an OS reinstallation.
    Resolution
    1. Logon to the primary user account and create a new folder on your desktop named (for example) 'Library-Preferences'.
    2. Open Terminal.app and enable hidden folder visibility by entering 'defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE'
    3. Restart Finder by pressing Command-Option-Escape then selecting Finder and clicking 'Relaunch.'
    4. In Finder, browse to User>Library>Preferences folder.
    5. Select all files in the Preferences folder (a couple hundred or more files is typical).
    6. Move (Command-Drag) all the .plist and other files to 'Library-Preferences' that you created on your desktop. If the move fails because some hidden files will not move, deselect just those files and move the rest. Don't worry about the few that want to stay put, as they are not suspect for the conflict causing the AIR installer issue.)
NOTE: It is VERY important that 'Library-Preferences' NOT be deleted.
    7. Try reinstalling AIR. It should succeed this time.
    8. If it succeeds, try installing an AIR app (e.g., Tweetdeck). If it installs successfully, the conflicting file now exists in your 'Library-Preferences' folder and will not conflict with AIR.
    9. Hide the hidden files again by entering 'defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE' in Terminal and relaunch Finder (see step 3).
    10. Move your .plist and other property files as needed back to your /'User/Library/Preferences/' folder as needed (you know you will need them because your Mac will have 'forgotten' your application settings and preferences when you run an application.
Tip: if your application is 'Acme UltraWidgets 2') do a search on 'acme' and 'ultrawidgets' in the Finder and drag all the found files back to 'Preferences'.)
    11. When prompted, overwrite any .plist (or other) files in the 'Preferences' folder when moving these files back to their original location to replace the default .plist files recreated by OS X or your applications.
Over time, you will drag back many of your Preferences files to their proper spot, but you will also have many files remaining. These will be from applications that you seldom use or orphan files left over from deleted applications. If any application, tool or utility seems to not be functioning right, don't forget to search for its associated .plist (and other) files in the 'Library-Preferences' folder.
A faster alternative is to move all non-Adobe .plist (and other) files back to 'Preferences' and try reinstalling AIR. If it fails, that proves a conflict with another Adobe application on the system. I have not tested this.
If anyone happens to find *+specific files+* that conflict with AIR by a refinement of this method, please post back to this forum.

  • Adobe air doesn't submit updated content from ckeditor

    Hello,
I'm wiriting applicaiton using adobe air and part of it is to display in iframe code of website with built in ckeditor (http://ckeditor.com).
The problem is that when I want to submit modified text using ckeditor adobe air send old content.
I'm trying to get new text from ckeditor element using:
         1. CK method "var content = CKEDITOR.instances.editor_content.getData();"
         2. jQuery call: "jQuery("#editor_content").val()"
but both methods return always the initial text, not the modified one. It works without problems with all standard browsers (Chrome, FF, IE etc.).
to test this issue you can open this url within adobe air window (i.e. as iframe):
         http://ckeditor.com/demo#flash
then update content and try to "send to flash". It will send original content, not the modified one.
Does anyone have any idea of workaround for this that can force Adobe Air to send send back updated content of ckeditor ?
I would prefer to find solution on Adobe Air side, without experimenting with other versions of CK or alternative implementations of WSIWYG editors because it's part of bigger project.
    Any adivices welcomed!
    thanks,
    Marek

    The problem is fixed:
With Windows Fix It at least I was able to uninstall Adobe Air. After Reisnatllation of Air and my application the system is running quite wonderful.
    Best regards,
    R. H.

    Hi,
Can you please try the following?
    - First do a fresh install of Adobe AIR. You can get the latest one from https://get.adobe.com/air
    - Download the Adobe Story installer file directly from this url: https://story.adobe.com/AIR/AdobeStory.air
    - Double click on the downloaded file to install it.
If this still fails, please mail us the logs at DL-AdobeStory-support<at>adobe<dot>com

  • Got a Lenovo G50-70 computer running windows 8.1. Got a pop up says Adobe Air needs to be updated asks when do you want to update. Is this legitimate? I'm worried about viruses, worms. thanks.

The popup says An Adobe AIR update is ready to be installed.
I'm not sure it's really a message from Adobe.
I may not have any need to use AIR if it was installed on my computer by Lenovo or Windows 8.1.
My last computer had a popup that was, I think, a worm which told me I needed to update Flash Player Pro.
So, I'm nervous now about popup messages. I wish all legitimate programs could have options to Automatically install updates.
Can someone tell me if the popup sounds legitimate? Some programs give you a third option of No Thanks but this one just has a box to click for Update Now and a box for Update Later.
    Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem.  Just like Windows Update, Adobe AIR needs to update itself periodically.  Just click Update Now to update to the latest version.

Why don't you post some of the relevant lines for your application?
Makes hard to guess what the issue is otherwise.
The first line of your matching app file (<appname>-app.mxml) must have the same matching air sdk version as in...
    <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
The version number if that same file must match the versionNumber in your update file, as in
    <versionNumber>0.0.4</versionNumber>
Compile it and distribute it to the url specified in your update xml file

Manually check your app:/update_config.xml - make sure it is what you think it is

  • Adobe Application Manager failed during update and fils to reinstall

    G'day All,
I put this up in November last year in a Creative Suites discussion thread (sse blow the line), and though the original post has been viewed more than 280 times, I have received no responses. I simply cannot update my CS6 software. I have just reposted the information below there, and figured I should try here, also.
Details : CS6 design and web premium, HP Pavilion quad-core i7,  now running Windows 8.1
Essentially my application manager failed while it was upgrading itself as I was attempting to fix a problem with Acrobat/the Adobe PDF printer constantly failing after printing only one PDF. The updater/application manager then simply disappeared from my system altogether.
At the time of the original problem I had downloaded ApplicationManager7.0_all.exe; if I attempt to run it I get a pop-up window 2/3rds of the way through the installation and the following message 'Installer failed to initialise. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem'.
Adobe Support Advisor no longer exists.
So I tried the latest version - ApplicationManager8.0_all.exe. This installed just fine, but seems to be entirely oriented around CC applications, so I haven't tried it on my CS6 programs. Should I just uninstall it? I rather wonder why it says 'This patch will install the Adobe Application Manager that is included with Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Creative Suite 6, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 products' if, in fact, it's just for CC products.
So, any suggestions on what to do now? I'd really like to be able to update my applications via a Manager that will actually function.
    regards,
    Bill
    G'day All,
(CS6 design and web premium, Windows 8. HP Pavilion quad-core i7)
    Frankly, this is ridiculous.
Having been driven nuts by the 'Acrobat manager is not activated' message which persisted in popping up if I made any attempts beyond one to create a PDF - that is, I could print one, and then no others without a reboot, nor having done so could I read any PDFs - I searched online and got a discouraging, tangled mess of suggestions, including the fairly obvious one of checking that all programs had been updated by the Application Manager.
'Ah,' I thought, 'maybe if I ensure everything's up-to-date this thing where Acrobat failing to start because it thinks it's not 'activated' means I can neither read nor print PDFs will be miraculously fixed without my having to install magical patches or deregister and reregister the entire suite in order to appease a program I don't even use or want!'
Poor naive fool that I am!
So I tried to run the Application Manager.
It momentarily flashed a message claiming (I believe - it was only there for a second) another instance of itself was running, then proceeded to run an update process for the application itself, then threw up an administration window seeking to allow the program to modify the system about 2/3rds of the way through, and then announced via a little window with one of those horrible little red 'fail' symbols that the application manager had failed to install.
    It sure had!
That's it - I now have no Application Manager to attempt to manage updates through! No shortcut - that disappeared too! Nothing in the hideous Windows 8 start menu! No search will reveal it! It's simply gone. Yes, I've rebooted.
All I can find online suggests installing a new instance of the Application Manager, which is, of course, the CC version, and I'm not a subscriber. OK, maybe that will work, but, quite frankly, with two strikes against Adobe already I'm going to ask if anyody actually knows whether this approach, or any other, is likely to solve the problem.
    regards,
    Bill

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. Sure am! But that's not the main problem.
However, it appears the main problem has been fixed - via the installation of AAM 8 - a mere 9 months later! CS6 updates - woohoo!
This didn't fix the Adobe PDF printing thing - in fact, I just lost everything I'd previously typed in response to you testing this hadn't been fixed by AAM 8's updates (it hasn't!).
However, during the 9 month fallow period I've discovered that if I keep process explorer open and kill the splwow64.exe/acrotray.exe process tree after every single PDF printing  I don't get bizarre messages telling me the Adobe PDF printer isn't 'activated' or have my system go into a tizzy and need rebooting. So it still doesn't really work, but I do have a work-around...
    regards,
    Bill

  • Adobe AI CS6 fails to update

This is my second discussion question today. I downloaded AI when I joined Cloud last month. I have not used it except to launch it to doodle and see if it would launch properly.  Last week a major feature update was posted and the install failed to install!
I have tried 3 time to update it and nothing worked. I am using Win 7 with a dual core intel 8 Gb of ram and 2 each 2 TB hard drives.
I still use Deneba Canvas 10 for my vector art so it not a problem but with Cloud I intend to upgrade all my 32 bit apps to all Adobe and MS 365.

If you still have problems installing iTunes download and install 7-Zip (free) and a fresh copy of the current installer from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ or use these direct links (which will go out of date at some point):
    iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-02-25)
    iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-02-25)
Then unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip and install them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). If any of the components still fail to install you may get more useful error messages as to why not.
