My classic 80GB ipod wont turn on, wont restore, it says it may be corrupted and all it does is constantly beep when I attach to my laptop! Windows Vista, 32bit, new version of itunes, etc.. WHAT the ****!? What do I do!?

My 80gb ipod classic is dead! It wont power on, it wont restore, it constantly beeps and shows the apple logo then my laptop says ipod in recovery mode, may have to restore. I read all the other problems and they are similar to mine but have not found anyone saying the screen does not power on except to show logo and do not disconnect. The annoying beeping sound stops after a while, then absolutely nothing! Is the battery removable, what do I do?

I did that and then tried to log onto the Itunes again and a prompt came up and siad the Itunes file wasn't properly installed and it might be corrupted and I should retry it again.
Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:
Can you launch your iTunes now?

Hi did you ever get a solution to this problem? Having the same issue myself!

  • Audio cd burn from 11.1 not playing on old version of iTunes on another MAC. error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version.

The error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version. I converted all songs on playlist to MP3 and then selected burn playlist and checked audio cd. This worked in itunes 11.0.5. Also itunes 11.1 will not accept the second disk on a cd audio burn. It just keeps telling me to insert a blank disk, no matter how many blank disks are inserted

I think that the operating system is 10.4.11 and iTunes isn't responding to this operating system. I cannot upgrade the operating system to a version any later than what it is as I think it would then go to Tiger.
10.4 is Tiger, and 10.4.11 supports the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime. So either the system isn't at 10.4.11 - your original post said 10.4.1 - or there's something wrong with the system in which case earlier versions of iTunes/QuickTime might well also fail to install.
Please confirm the version of Mac OS X that really is on the system and we'll go from there.

  • I have to download the new version of itunes. Will the music ive bought on the old version be deleted or can i switch it over somehow?

I have to downlaod the new version of itunes. It tells me that my ipod wont work with the old version. If i download the new version can i transfer all my songs to the new version or will they not be able to?

As long as its the same computer, the new version should simply upgrade your old version with nothing else changed.

  • I downloaded ios 6 on my iphone. Now I need to download the new version of itunes, which requires the new OS. In order to download the new OS i need to have the app store, which comes with the new OS

I downloaded ios6 on my iphone 4s. Now, to sync to itunes I need the new version of itunes. In order to download the new version of itunes, I need a newer OS. I am fine with downloading a new OS, but it says to download through the app store. My computer doesn;t currently have the app store. What should I do?

In order to get the App Store you must be running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
To get there you must upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6 which requires an install DVD
You can call Apple and ask them for the install DVD. It will cost $19.95 plus shipping
Once you have upgraded your Mac to Snow Leopard then you need to update it to 10.6.8
Then you will have the App Store you need
Backup first before you start any of the upgrade

  • I can't install the new version of iTunes or delete the old version

i have a new iTiouch and can't load the new version of iTunes. it downloaded fine but said installation failed because the "older version of apple software update" or something like that. so, i uninstalled and deleted (or thought i did) all the itunes programs i could find and still get the same error message. i can download but can't install the 9.0.2 iTunes because for some reason it thinks i still have an old version of iTunes. How can i get rid of the old version? thought i got rid of it all. i did a search for all files relating to itunes and apple and deleted them but some how it still thinks i have an "old version". i need the new version installed so i can use my new itouch. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appear in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HT1420 I cannot find anything using the new version of Itunes - where is the store menu ?

Where do I find the itunes store menu in the new version?  I need to authorise my computer.

when I went to put music on it, I had to update my itunes to do so. when I did, bonjour cme up with an error message and wanted me to find the path "bonjour.msi".
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

Suddenly  I cannot open iTunes, the above message is what I receive. I have done a bit of trolling the web in an attempt to fix it, but still no joy, anybody out there......help,,!

Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

If you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.
Not sure if the following site/link will tell the method...
