My entire modem script folder is missing.
I'm trying to install a new modem script but the folder in my library is missing I have searched and it's nowhere to be found. I looked in library not there either. Is there some way to reinstall it?
I downloaded three new scripts and they are the only 3 that I will need. If possible I would like to install them and not all of the ones that came with OSX. I tried simply making a new folder labeled Modem Scripts in Library but it didn't work. When I go to sys prefs and click on modem them default modems are listed but not the new ones. Any ideas?
The easiest way would be to use Pacifist...

to search/extract them from your Install CD/DVD.
I find it in two hidden folders on my Tiger setup...

Cannot find Modem Scripts folder under Liberary
I am to install a modem script for my Blackberry Bold 9000 phone. However, I cannot find the Modem Scripts folder under \Library folder, where it was supposed to be located. Yet I can still use my Sony Ericsson phone as a 3.5G Bluetooth modem accessing the Internet, which means there is the modem script working in my MacBook. Please advise how I can pinpoint the \Modem Scripts folder? Or should I just create one myself? Thanks very much
Are you sure you are looking in the root level Library folder & not in the Library folder in your home folder or in the /System/Library folder?
To be sure, in Finder, hold down the command & shift keys & tap the "g" key. In the dialog sheet that drops down, type in "/Library/" (without the quotes & press the return key or click the "Go" button. Do you now see /Library/Modem Scripts in the window? -
How to access modem scripts?
I need to tether my blackberry with my mac, and i have a file to add to modem scripts. how do i do that? thanks
Double-click the hard drive icon on the desktop or single-click it in the sidebar, double-click the Library item, and then the Modem Scripts folder inside. If the window is in column view, single-click the folders instead. Alternatively, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide that as the path.

Entire contents of folder missing
I was copying a folder of music (a specific CD that I have on another drive) into my iTunes library and rec'd an error msg (I didn't pay much attention to it). When I looked to see if the music was transferred into my iTunes I noticed that the songs in that folder were missing a link so I checked the folder on my external drive and they are completely gone. The songs are listed in iTunes but the original files are gone (I hadn't yet copied them onto my iPod).
I've never seen anything like this. I'm currently doing a search of my entire system for one of the songs and nothing is coming up. Ideas? What could have happened?Somehow they ended up in another file. I have no idea how it happened though because I didn't even drag the missing file across that one when I was dragging & dropping. Very frustrating.

Startup Script folder empty - no Bridge CS5 Output to Web?
Something must have gone wrong installing CS5 Photoshop over CS4 Indesign!
Even after net-updating to Bridge 4.0.2 the startup script folder (Preferences > Startup Scripts) is empty. When selecting the Output Workspace in Bridge, there is no pane that let one output to Web Gallery or Contact Sheet.
I'm doing this meanwhile in CS4 Bridge, where it works fine. This Bridge version was coming with CS4 InDesign.
I downloaded CS5 Photoshop in April (I guess it's an International English upgrade) running it on OSX 10.6.4 on a new 17" Book.
Is there an upgrade coming, how can I achieve full functionality of Bridge CS5?
Than you in advance for your input,
Bernd RummelHi Omke,
I did download and install the Photoshop CS5 upgrade by April. Since the Output to Web Gallery pane was not there at the Output workspace as well as all Sartup Scripts are missing at Bridge Preferences, I completely reformatted (actually changed the partitions) and reinstalled OSX 10.6.3, my 17" Book came with. Than I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4.
Now, before doing (screwing up) anything else, I installed Acrobat 9 and run the rather lengthy process of installing each and every upgrade to the latest version. Than I installed InDesign CS4 (version 6) and upgraded this. Finally I installed Photioshop CS5, only to still have the Startup Scripts and subsequently the output to web gallery pane missing. Of course, also the Twitter and Facebook stuff is not there. However, this is not my concern since I do not use them.
The upgrade to Bridge 4.0.2 didn't change anything, so didn't todays upgrade to Photoshop 12.0.1.
Please note that I do not use the CS Suite but upgrade Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop individually, which used to work fine for many years. And so I have Bridge CS4 and Bridge CS5 installed side by side. At the CS4 version the Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery does work as expected the CS5 version of Bridge is short of both. This shouldn't happen, since I installed CS5 Photoshop over Bridge CS4.
Actually two weeks back I tied to un-install both the CS4 Bridge as well as the CS5 Photoshop, and than to just install Photoshop CS5 without InDesign with Bridge CS4 being installed. The Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery wasn't there either.
Do you think I can get an other Photoshop CS5 softcopy somewhere that makes my serial number as well as the output to web gallery work? This would turn me back to be a happy photoshopper that I am since version 2.5... when I switched from Cibachrome in darkroom to Photoshop on Mac now about 16 years back.
I look forward to your input.

R12 Upgrade: appsutil.zip does not contain scripts folder.

Original folder is missing...
I clicked on an important folder when I received (paraphrasing) "Original folder is missing...." and something about an Alias. I didn't create an Alias for the folder. A window popped up saying to select an application to open the alias; Apple Script was highlighted, so I clicked on it. Now my folder "alias" contains Apple Script files.
I may have accidentally put the original folder in the Trash and emptied it...is there anyway to retrieve it?
I also notice that the dates/times are messed up. For example, I have a file that says "Today, 5:36pm". It's still morning where I live!
Anyone know what's going on?Sorry for the confusion; I update my profile to reflect all of my macs.
I didn't create an Alias for the folder in question, which is why it is so puzzling. Would there be a record of recently created Aliases ? That might lead to where the original is--or give me some kind of information perhaps.
I am not sure that I trashed it--it's just that I can't find the original. Also, the "last modified" date on the folder was sometime in Spring of 2007, which is not true. This folder had been active up until I lost it.
The folder contains all of the work I did for a client. Fortunately, the project was just completed, however if I get another project from this client, I may need some of the files in that folder.
Is there really no way to retrieve something from the Trash--is there a cache or log that may lead to it?
Please, please help! -

How do I upload the entire Edge Animate folder to the cloud?
How do I upload the entire Edge Animate folder to the cloud?
Hi there,
Are you talking about the Creative Cloud? If so, you can compress the Edge Animate files into one folder as a .zip file, and then upload the entire .zip file by clicking the Upload button on Creative Cloud:
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further clarification! : ) -
IMovie won't open and Library Folder is missing in Finder
A few days ago, I downloaded the recent iMovie program. I even used it to make a video. Today I wanted to make another one but iMovie won't open at all. The wheel just spins and spins and nothing opens. So, I went into Finder and noticed my Library folder was missing. How did that happen? Is that why iMovie won't open?
I searched the Discussion Forums and saw how to find the Library folder in Lion. (Press Option and hit the Go button in the menu bar.) But, I have Maverick. I tried this anyway but I have no idea what/where the Go button is.
How do I find, or replace if necessary, my Library folder and get iMovie to open? I have a mid-2007 iMac that's been upgraded from Snow Leopard, so I don't want to put the Install Disk in and lose everything. Help? Thanks. Sorry for the confusion with the Library Folder. It's just been a long day all around.
Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I know it's older but it's never caused me a day's trouble since I've owned it. I hate to replace it until the next upgrade.
ETA: I just opened the Activity Monitor in Utilities and it says, out of 4GB of Memory, that 3.88GB are Used. I don't understand this because I have very, very few things loaded onto my iMac at all. I've always had tons of memory left. I don't have any music on my PC at all. No movies, either. My dock only has Finder, Launchpad, Dashboard, Safari, Firefox, TextEdit and System Preferences.
Here's a report from my Activity Monitor. Any suggestions? I have no idea what some of these things are, like: CalendarAgent (I don't use calendar at all),

I would like to move the TV Shows folder from my iMac's HD to an external HD to free up some space. Can I do this without moving the entire iTunes Library folder? If so, can my other devices like iPads and Apple TV find the moved TV shows folder?
All kinds of things are possible with iTunes, but few of them are easy. Yes, you can isolate TV shows on a different drive. The degree of complexity depends upon how much work and learning you are interested in doing. The easiest solution is to delete them all from iTunes but do not let iTunes delete the actual media files. Then go to the folder where TV shows are located and copy that folder to a different drive. Now hold down the option key and drag them back to iTunes so it adds them again. Using the option key means the file doesn't get copied to iTunes' main media folder. However, since these are being added as new files it means you risk losing some information entered about them such as personal ratings, date added, date last played, etc. There are ways of retaining this data but that's where you really have to learn how to do workarounds with iTunes.
I have never seen an AppleTV, nor used an iPhone but my understanding is these devices do not directly use the files, they do so through iTunes. As long as the entries can be found in iTunes then they should be accessible by other devices. -
/private/etc/cups folder is missing
I am working tech support for a college and a faculty member currently working abroad called in with a problem that Microsoft Word for Mac would lock up everytime he tried to save or print a file. I remoted into his machine and I tried the usual suspects and was able to determine that nothing would print at all from any app, and in fact when I went to system preferences and tried to open the printers, it locked up system preferences. Digging deeper, I discovered that I was getting this message in console:
com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
The error kept repeating. I researched and found this thread:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2151368?start=0&tstart=0
Which led me to try these terminal commands:
sudo cp /etc/cups/cupsd.conf /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.old
sudo cp /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.default /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
I got an error in terminal that "No such file or directory existed"
So I checked and sure enough, inside of /private/etc/ there was no folder for cups. Its just gone. I assume that the folder being missing is the root of the problem, but I cant figure out how to get it back for him, especially considering that I am trying to assist him remotely. Any help or advice would be appreciated.# Become root

Referencing the script folder when launching via LNK
I have been using ".\ blah blah" to reference files stored in the same folder as the script, but I ran into a situation where this actually referenced the user's home folder, not the script folder. I then found this code, which has worked well
when launching the script directly, but when the script is launched via a shortcut it fails.
Is there a modification that can be done to this code, or another option, that will consistently identify the UNC path of the running script?
Thanks,
Gordon
function Get-ScriptDirectory {
$Invocation = (Get-Variable MyInvocation -Scope 1).Value
if($Invocation.PSScriptRoot) {
$Invocation.PSScriptRoot
elseif($Invocation.MyCommand.Path) {
Split-Path $Invocation.MyCommand.Path
else {
$Invocation.InvocationName.Substring(0,$Invocation.InvocationName.LastIndexOf("\"))Interesting. So it's not even using MyCommand.Path; it's dropping down into that last case (which I assume was written to cover PowerShell 1.0, but I'm not certain.)
Try adding this command to the function, for debugging purposes, right after the "$Invocation = ..." line:
$Invocation |
Format-Custom -Depth 3 -Property * -Force |
Out-Host
That should give you a bunch of information that you can copy and paste here, so we can figure out what's going on.
Edit: One other thing; is this Get-ScriptDirectory function in the ps1 script itself, or is it in a PSM1 module? -

Additional Notes: ERROR - Unable to locate ASCII text file to be manipulated. Deferring...Hi Nic,
When i installed it the first time i installed HRMS and CS9.0 in a folder that i created inside the PS_HOME.Then i realized that there are no scripts available under scripts folder. So i deleted the application folder and reinstalled HRMS and CS9.0 in PS_HOME.Even then i cannot find the scripts.I have enough disk space.Even i tried reinstalling peopletools but,of no use.Iam using peopletools8.51[64-bit] and i hope that, that is the right installer that has to be used in windows2008 R2 64-bit.I need your advise regarding this.
