I have this happening to me too... it is frustrating enough for me to pitch my computer out the 4th floor office window. I found somewhere on these forums a solution which worked for me, but only for a short time. I'm back to having this stupid glitch. Anyway, the "temporary" solution seems to be to boot into Safe Mode by holding the Shift button down when you hear the startup chime, then let go when you see the Apple logo on the screen. You'll see you've done it right because it'll say Safe Mode somewhere on screen (upper right hand corner?). Restart again normally and your Mail should be free from these weird demons, but they'll be back. -
Hi, I'm a new Mac user and I want 10.8.2 but i can't get that unless I have i have 10.8.1 and I cant get that unless I have 10.8. Now I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a link that would allow me to download this version?
Again, that's not a problem - if you purchase Mountain Lion through the App Store, it's been updated to 10.8.2 - and when there are other updates available, you can just download and install them as well.
Just go to the App Store and purchase and install ML. Then run Software Update (Apple menu) to see if there are any updates available for your machine. I keep my System Preferences>Software Update prefs set to check automatically -
Some people would rather check manually. No big deal, just buy it and install it.

After updating itunes 10.4 when editing tags in file adds two or three covers. This problem is represented as in 10.6.8 and in 10.7.
Earlier albums were edited with the same cover.

I was experiencing the exact same problem. I tried lots of different things but what I think works is to exclude your iTunes folder from Spotlight. Open the System Preference for Spotlight, click on the Privacy tab, and then drag your iTunes folder (in your user/Music folder) into that window pane. In fact, I think it is faster when I am fixing tags!

Final Cut Pro 7 shuts down after installing OSX 10.8
Recently upgraded to OSX 10.8. Initially Final Cut Pro 7 was working but then suddenly crashed. All it does is runs through scripts like its opening but then shuts down.
I thought it was a problem with disc space so I cleared my hard drive. This did not help.
I tried to troubleshoot but could not find the things the troubleshooter mentioned: ~/Library/Preferences; com.apple.finalcutpro.plist; Final Cut Pro User Data; /Library/Receipts; FinalCutPro.pkg.
Tried uninstall/reinstall but I still have same problem. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!Thanks... I just figured out how to do the repair disk, but unfortunately not solve my problem. So my next step is doing a clean install of my OS. I'm currently using Time Machine to backup my computer just in case I run into any issues. So I've never done this before and I'm not very computer savvy AT ALL. lol
So I want to make sure I understand things correctly before actually doing it. Essentially I will go to Disk Utility and erase the drive? I'm guessing then restart the computer? Will I be able to open up the App store to get my OSX10.8 reinstalled?

If by 30 fps, you mean 29.97fps... that's correct.
But I would check w/ the TV stations as to what dimensions and deliverables they require, and what format they require (usually h.264 .mov or mpg2)
You usually need to place isci code at the begining of the spot in your slate (either the client will provide or you will make it up)
Make sure you audio levels are not hot (in FCP that would be around -12)...
If you monitor color with an external tv monitor, then color should be fine, or use the colorscopes in FCP to make sure you colors aren't too bright, and don't use pure white...
Ahh, and keep all of your text/logos, important visual details in the 4:3 area, so when it is aired SD, they aren't cropped out. -
Computer locks up -have to do hard shut down- after about two times its ok
Seems like the computer locks up on battery or AC. When I shut down with the power button two or three times things seem to work ok for a while. I bought this about two weeks ago and the seller stated that g4's have a problem with processor location that can make computer act up. could this be the problem.

When you say the computer locks up, do you mean it freezes and you have to force shut it down? This is not considered normal behavior. It could indicate logic board problems. What the seller told you sounds like BS to me. You might want to consider returning this one and looking for a different one. Even if the problem is intermittent now, it likely will get worse over time. And could be expensive to fix.

I was wondering if anyone had an easy way to edit the photos on a .swf file?
I am trying to change out the photos on the flash photos on my homepage. I only have the .swf files. Is there an easy way to do this? My web developer wants to charge a ridiculous amount to do this and I would actually rather learn how to do this versus paying someone else. Any help would be appreciated.

You would have to follow the directions(documentation) as I have not used this program before. Or find another that seems easier to you, but thats what you need.

Has anyone had any problems binding 10.4 clients to Moutain Lion Server?
I'm currently in the process of taking over the support of a 10.4 client network using 10.5 server which they wish to upgrade to 10.8, and was wondering if anyone had issues binding the 10.4 clients.
You might run into problems as wgm is deprecated in 10.8 server
A lot of services have been removed also from 10.6 to 10.8
Webmail
Dhcp
Xgrid
Samba relplaced with apple version
MySQL replaced with postgres
QuickTime Streaming server
Server tools have changed

Final Cut Pro will not update after new os and compressor will not run until the update is done. System shows no updates available
Sorry for being unclear.
When I am using the update in the App Store App, there will be a list of various applications that have updates to be installed (Final Cut Pro will be in this list). I will already be logged in with the Apple ID I use for everything (my dev account). I will be able to update all of the other various applications needing updating except for my Final Cut Pro. When I click the update button next to the FCP update, it will give me an error saying "This download is not available for this apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"
I have not had any applications refunded or cancelled and this has only happened since my update to Yosemite. FCP was working fine until the upgrade. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? -
When I pull the notification screen down after about 5 seconds the screen goes black and then the apple appears for about 30 seconds and then returns to the home screen, this is an iPhone 4 running ios7 , any ideas??
One problem though, the top button on my phone is jammed so i cant power off the phone, anyway of resetting the phone without using the top button ?

My iPhone 4 with iOS 6 is making me start to hate Apple. Any App and at any time I open and I can not view it or move for more than 2 minutes, they close themselves. During connections, it also gives this problem and the signal disappears after a few seconds back but often the person on the other end has hung up ... I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...

my final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months. I use external hard drives and save nothing on my computer. it takes a long time to render now. do you think something is wrong with computer. took it to mac store but they fail to help me. What did Apple tell you about what they did (or did not) find here?
See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't. -

You reboot your Mac. Is FCP trying to open automatically (the icon bouncing)? Or is it just visible in the Dock?
