My home page has been replaced by something called searchq. No matter what I do, I cannot reset my home page to the site I wish. This is making me nuts. Searchq keeps overwriting the setting. What is going on? What is this website?

I did some more reading on the forum and found one suggestion that showed where in the program list I could uninstall searchqu. I had uninstalled iLivid and removed searchqu from Firefox but there was still a bit lurking under Windows - Searchqu in the program list. I simply uninstalled that and it fixed the problem. I am trying to sort out a friends macbook that has been subjected to a scam attack. I am a pc user so am struggling here a bit. Her machine seems to have been attacked by a program called MacSecurity. It is telling her that she has a number of viruses, etc and she needs to register to get rid of them. A **** page keeps trying to open as well. This type of scam is often found on PC's and is easy to remove.
After scouring the internet for solutions and came accross 2 programs that are said to remove it - I installed them and neither have worked. The programs i tried were MacScan 2 and iAntivirus. Both are free programs.

My computer has been invaded by something called findr and it keeps taking over firefox. I've uninstalled and reinstall firefox.

Findr, whatever that is, keeps changing my default homepage to findr. It defaults my search engine to findr. I change it back to what it was and within a day or two it goes back.
The findr page says it is not encrypted and therefore my internet usage is open to anyone.
I've uninstalled firefox and reinstalled and it reverted back to findr the next day.

I got an ASP.NET MVC (Razor View Engine and C#) application running on a Windows Azure Web Role.
I use RDLC local reports to create pdf files with printable price tags with respective barcodes.
I got it working on Azure after installing the barcode font (TrueType) using a start-up task. Recently, it stopped working without me changing anything related to this functionality.
I'm getting the following error and so far I didn't find any solution. I know the problem is the barcode font because the pdf is generated well with a standard font like Arial. Also, it works perfectly with barcodes when running the app
locally on my computer.

It seems that the error may have more than one possibilities. I recommend you could try to use the Azure remote debugger to debug your cloud service project on Azure instance. Please see this tutorials:

You could debug your code using the cloud service URL.
And you could enable the Diagnostics feature for collecting Logging Data by Using Azure Diagnostics (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/gg433048.aspx).

Maybe a long shot, but WD is not known for the quality of some of their enclosures, although I do like the drives themselves. It may be worth mounting this drive in a different enclosure, something like one of OWC's FireWire enclosures with the highly reliable Oxford chip sets. I wouldn't be inclined to trust a WD enclosure, especially if it already seemed to be acting in a flakey manner.

I have 3 of these and I really like them.
From what I understand, if the drive spins up, it is often possible to recover data from it. To be absolutely certain to destroy the data, you just about have to take a hammer to the disk. Hopefully, there will be a way to get your data back.

I seriously doubt that you can do that. I've never heard of anyone doing something like this. I also strongly suspect that that windows software didn't preserve all the resource fork, ownership and hard links correctly.
You are left with manual migration of your data back to your computer. this isn't as hard as you make it sound. You just need to copy you own stuff back. also use the following [post|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6185507] to migrate important parts of you user library, Mail, iphoto etc. You will have to reinstall your applications by hand.

Second time also the service centre replaced the battery but were unable to give me a reason.
I had asked them to replace the laptop as this has been happening repeatedly and seems to be something with the laptop
otherwise why should every battery they put swell ?
This is the third time this has happened. And now they refuse to replace the battery or the laptop also.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and press the problem. Elevate to store manager if necessary. Maybe the charging circuits are defective resulting in overcharging which is causing the battery problem.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Sorry to say this, but you've been ripped off. You can take it to an Apple Store and see if they will replace it (Apple does NOT repair phones, they replace them), but odds are, they will not. The phone was most likely reported stolen or has already been replaced once.

Well, this is a problem, because the only material you can transfer from your iPhone (using only Apple software) is material you purchased in the iTunes Store.
To do that, plug your iPhone into iTunes, then choose File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from iTunes' menu.
Generally speaking, you should restore your iTunes library from your computer's backup.
