My iPhone 4s syncs with iTunes, but without a change. its says sync complete but nothing actually changes on my iPhone, or vice versa.
Can anyone help me with this?
I plug in my iphone 4s 5.0.1 to my macbook pro 15" with itunes 10.5.3, it syncs normally but without action. its like a fake sync. Whatever i change on my iphone or on my itunes, it says the same when i sync or apply changes.

First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer (11.x). If you connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer (NOT to a USB hub) and it still doesn't appear in iTunes you need to troubleshoot iTunes.

I have an IPhone 4 which I just updated with the latest software, which put in it in Recovery Mode. It has the picture of the plug with ITunes, I downloaded it now its saying its in Recovery Mode, how do I save all of my previous data without Restoring?

After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod.... -

Sorry iphones are meant to be sync to one iTunes media library.
You could copy your music and put it on your work computer and then sync it.
If you try to sync to one and then sync to other its going to wipe the phone and remove the old sync with the new sync. -
I have a new iphone 5. Trying to sync with itunes on my computer. Prior to plugging in new phone i made sure my other phone had synced with computer so all data was current. My old iphone does sync with cloud. When i plug in my iphone 5 for syncing it gets to step 5 and continues on for eternity...it has never completed syncing. This has been over a hour. Any ideas...ps old phone 4s backed up to cloud also and syncs would only take a minute or 2.
Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Syncing with iTunes after iCloud Restore Defaults to Past Sync
After I had restored my iPhones using a recent iCloud backup, some of my content such as certain videos and music needed to be installed through syncing with iTunes. All of my apps were arranged and installed as they were before the resoration. I had iTunes set to not automatically begin to sync when I plug in any of my iOS devices, so I can review the device first and then begin the sync. Upon plugging in my iPhone, I checked the applications tab, and all of the apps were arranged the way they were when I would unlock my iPhone; everything seemed normal. It would appear that the content that had not been restored through the iCloud restore would simply be installed though syncing with iTunes. The second I hit sync, iTunes began to restore my iPhone with a very early sync, as many of the apps I had deleted some time ago were being installed onto my phone, and my of the applications added since that specific sync were removed. What can I do to just have iTunes act as it should when finishing the restoration on my phone and not default to a stubborn sync? I'm currently restoring my phone from another recent iCloud backup to have all of my apps and their settings restored to how they were less than 12 hours ago.
First make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes. Use the itunes menu to check for updates and install the latest version if needed.
Reboot your computer and rest your iphone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. No data will be lost doing this. It's like rebooting a computer. -
I have plugged my new Iphone 5 into a computer with itunes that had an iphone 4s registered with it. So when I plugged in my Iphone to the laptop I may have clicked something because I was looking to just add the music from the Itunes to my phone. I am a new iphone user and dont really know what I did and am seeking assitance because I have also now lost all my contacts (which have been synced entired to the laptop I lost all my original files and was synced the files from the other iphone4s users profile.) I have also lost the link to locate my personal hotspot when i entir the settings home page. I am wondering I have downgraded my phone or something. What can I do to get my personal hotspot back?

IPhone 4S not syncing with iTunes 10.7 Asking to restore
I have had my iPhone 4S for about two years, and for a long while now it has been unable to sync with iTunes. My iPhone has the latest iOS, btw, and my iTunes is also up to date.
When I plug my phone into my MacBook Pro, iTunes says that it does not recognize the device and would like me to restore it back to factory settings.
I would like to just restore it, but I do not have any backups for it on my computer. I would like to back it up first, but nowhere in iTunes does it give me the option to back it up at all. iTunes only shows the "summary" tab and does not let me see other lists (music, photos, tv shows, videos, etc). My iPhone, however, syncs fine with iPhoto and uploads my photos/videos with no problem.
Recently, the apps on my phone have been crashing. Aside from contacts, messages, and 70 photos as well as 22 videos, I do not have any other data on it. I do not have any music, and the only apps I have are Instagram and Snapchat aside from the apps that come with the phone. Under usage, it says that I have 14GB capacity and only 2.3GB available. I'm not really sure why 11GB of space is occupied because I don't have very much on my phone. But anyway, because my apps keep crashing, I wanted to factory restore my phone and just add back my messages, contacts, and my photos/videos. However, iTunes will not allow me to back up my phone.
I have tried using external apps for backing up (ex: iExplorer), and apps like iExplorer allow you to save files from your phone perfectly fine, but do not allow you to put them back onto your phone. It is just a way of externally saving your stuff onto your computer. (If anyone knows of an app that I can use to actually back up my phone, I would appreciate it! Assuming that iTunes does not come through...)
I was told a while back (when iOS 6 was released) that with iOS 6, my phone would no longer sync with iTunes because it would now be done through iCloud, but the 5GB of space on my iCloud is not enough to back up what is on my phone, so I have avoided using iCloud for a long time. I was also told that my iTunes may not be up to date enough in order to recognize my phone, but my iTunes is updated and still no success.
I have literally tried everything. I have read every forum on the internet (or at least, that's what it feels like!), and I have even gone into the Apple store (to which the lady said that my phone would no longer sync with iTunes, which I don't understand because I know people with iOS 6 and above who have had no issue syncing).
If anyone can provide some insight into my lengthy issue, I would really greatly appreciate it. I do not want to restore or change any settings until I am sure that I have my phone backed up in a way that can be retrieved and placed back.

PS, can I back up my messages and put them back on my phone? I think it's a yes, but I'm just curious.Unfortunatley 5 GB is not necessarily a lot of space. What you should do is FIRST go into iCloud and choose what information you want turned on.

Here you should see different Tabs that will let you select what you want to back up on your device. You have the option to back up the following data on your phone:
Mail
Contacts
Calendars
Reminders
Safari
Notes
Passbook
Photo Stream
Documents & Data
Find My iPhone
If you turn off some of these options you should free up some of your space.
Once you have backed up your device in iCloud, you can place your device in Recovery Mode in iTunes so it can be recognized.
To put phone in recovery mode: Hold down home button and power button at top of phone at the same time. Once you see the Apple on the device, CONTINUE to hold down the Home button. Plug your phone into iTunes. Do not let the Home button go until you see a message in iTunes stating that a device has been detected in recovery mode. -
Why wont iphone 4S sync with itunes 10.7?
My iphone 4S wont sync with itunes on my computer. Message says I need to download itunes 10.6 or later. I have downloaded 10.7 but I still get same message. Have tried shutting down and start again.
Please helpProbably your update was not successfull and one of the iTunes components is stuck on an older version. What you can do here is uninstall all components according to the Apple instruction. It is well possible, that the defective component cannot be uninstalled, then you'll need to repair it first. Sometimes even that does not help. If that is the case you will have to contact Applecare and ask them to provide again the version you are stuck on of the component, that is causing issue. You would then install that version again, which will enable you to repair and then uninstall. Once your PC is clean again you can freshly install the lastest iTunes.

On my mac I can play the songs with iTunes minimized.
The reason why, is I want to sync my iphone with my mother's computer at her house, and put some sound effects on her library. Then I want to turn her itunes on and minimize it and wait until she starts working on her pc and then I can play some practical jokes on her making her computer make weird noises (sound effects on itunes).
Any answers would be appreciated by me (but not my mother).

3rd Gen Ipod won't sync with Itunes since upgrade to Snow Leopard

I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.

My first gen ipod mini (that I use in my car) does no longer sync with itunes 11.0. It basically says "cannot write or read". Is this the "end of life" of that ipod?
You mean you can't get to the Summary pane?
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar -

You will need a SIM to activate it. There is no way around that. The SIM does not have to be active, but it must be from the correct carrier if the phone is carrier locked. Once activated, it can be removed and used like an iPod touch, but if you ever have to restore or update iOS, you will need the SIM to re-activate it.

I have to restore my iphone 4s becasue it is saying "disabled connect to itunes" and it's never been synced with itunes. However the sleep/wake button is broken on the phone is there still away to restore without using it?
You can try, but the problem with that is you need battery power in order to restore. Once your phone has enough power to restore, it will still show the same message. To get the phone into either recovery mode or DFU mode requires the ability to first turn the phone off. But, you've got nothing to lose, so you might as well give it a shot.
