My Iphone 5 just stopped working. There is no damage to it and now it won't even hold a charge. What do I do?

Depending on the age and use of the phone, you might need a new battery. Visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to check the battery.
Apple Support can also do that for you.

    Particularly:
    Battery does not charge
    Verify that the outlet being used is working.
    Try another USB power adapter if available.
    If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
    Try another USB cable if available.
    iPhone or iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive
    If you see the image below, charge the iPhone or iPod touch with USB power adapter for at least 15 minutes.    
    You should see this image when iPhone or iPod touch begins to charge:
    If the screen still displays the low-battery icon, try turning the iPhone or iPod touch off and then on again.
    If the issue persists, follow these troubleshooting steps.

    Backup your iPhone, then restore it. If it's still not working then try holding down the home button and the Lock button at the same time for 15 seconds, it will go into DFU mode. Can you give us anymore information on what you was doing? Did you just wake up to it not responding? is the phone off? can you hear anything from it? (Have you heard text noises etc) is itunes finding the phone? any sync errors etc? All of this could help determine the problem. If restoring the phone worked, try then restoring back to the Backup file so you've got everything back and you should be up and running ready to go.

    It just quit working.
    I tried doing a hard re-set by holding the buttons down for 5 minutes! Hands are still cramping. I tried to charge it and nothing happens. Just a black screen. I left it to charge for 8 hours and nothing. What to do? Its been more than 30 days so I can't return it!

    The iPhone includes a one year warranty. The 30 day return window is for returning an iPhone for payment credit, not for an exchange under warranty.
