iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you have done the reset and nothing appears and you are sure it still has a charge and it doesn't turn on, you may request for a replacement if it still covered by the warranty. Cheers!

  • My ipod touch is disabled and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize the device and i can't see the serial number on the back

My NOSY (now ex) husband did something to my ipod touch and it is now disabled. It was dead and I charged it and NOW the sucker won't turn off. When I connect to itunes i see a message that says i have to UNLOCK it with a passcode. I tried to get apple support but they want my serial number. Well...the ipod wont turn on!!! I've had it at least 6 years and have moved and I can't find my paperwork and WHO can read that serial number on the back? I know its kind of outdated (third generation, I believe)but its mine, I love it and it has ALL my music on it.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Out of the blue, my ipod touch (2nd gen.) won't turn back on.

I noticed my ipod touch was working a little bit slower, so I turned it off. I tried to turn it back on, and it didn't budge. I've tried to charge it with my computer multiple times (even though I know it wasn't dead), and it still won't do anything. I updated itunes and restarted my computer, still nothing. I also tried to reset it, anything.. still nothing.
I've held down both buttons in hopes it'd turn on or reset..
    Help please!

    - After being connect to a charging source for half an hour, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so yu can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next see if DFU mode will allow a restore.

  • Ipod Touch lost charge and won't turn on

I bought an 4G ipod Touch last summer , a few weeks after the new version with the camera came out. Since then my ipod crashes on certain apps that take up alot of memory, but this happened to my friends so i ignore this problem.
the real problem is that now my ipod is not being recognized when i plug it to my ipod dock or computer, i also tried using my sisters charger and it still didnt work. When i plug it onto a charging device, nothing happens, no charging sign or a sign saying that a device was plugged onto the computer or whattever i use. i tried to move the ipod around the dock to see if it would connect but it doesnt.
now my ipod shut down from low charge and i can not charge it. i tried to restart it but it lost charge before i could do so.
    i need serious help!!
if went to the store that i bought my ipod , would they replace the one i have now?
    * also, i think the problem is inside the input slot for charging becuase the outside it not damaged other than some small scratches.

    Hi Ilanila,
I had a similar problem and I found that it was because I was not using the orignial cable that came with the device. I'd bought a cheaper cable as a backup and it didn't work well, though it did charge. I'd say take yor device back to store where you bought it or an Apple store and have them try it out with a cable made by Apple.
    Hope this helps :-)

  • My ipod touch is frozen and it wont turn back on . How can i turn it back on ?

I was using my ipod touch not too long ago and when it turned off , it wouldn't come back on. Now, all I have is a black screen and its half charged. I read some reviews about the same problem and people have said to plug it in a wall charger and wait for an hour. Is there any other way for it to come back on? This is my 2nd time with my ipod touch freezing. I would like to know without going to the Apple store.

    Hi,
Try placing your iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring it via iTunes:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
    Hope this helps!

    help...

    Hey,
First thing to try would be to reset the SMC on your machine (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964).
Does the sleep indicator on the front of the machine come on at all?

  • My iPhone 4S battery was on 1% and won't turn back on - what to do?

And I've already tried holding the home button and the power button for about 10-20 seconds, but it keeps showing the red charging symbol. I've tried three different chargers. I've never had a problem with the battery before, it's always been working perfectly and I rarely use it all up during the day. I always turn it off while I'm at work. I've had the phone since the end of July 2012, so it's not even a year old. I also have a good habit of closing all the apps I'm not using so it won't drain the battery.
    Anyone with a similar problem?
Edit: Just to be clear: I've tried charging it for at least 6 hours. I turned it in to the store I bought it today for them to have a look at it and decide what my options are. I recently got a new computer and didn't even have time to sync my iPhone with iTunes before this happened. So resetting is apparently not an option either.

Okay, got my phone back from the store I originally bought it at (the Swedish equivalent to Best Buy), and they had tried charging it with an iPhone-charger with no results. However, when they tested with an off-brand charger, it started working again. I wonder why that is.
When I got home, it was on 98% and I plugged it in with my regular charger just to see if I would really need to go out of my way to buy a completely different charger. It charged up to 99%, and I then unplugged it. I will wait and see if the problem re-occurs, but as it looks now, I probably won't be needing to get the battery changed nor book an appointment with the Genius Bar I'll check in here again if that were to happen, to give my review of the Genius Bar!
Thanks for all the help again

  • Iphone4s just died and won't turn back on, what should I do?

Checking out apps on iPhone 4S and was about 50% battery then it just shuts down. I haven't been able to turn it back on. What should I do?

Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? Put it on the charger for about 10 minutes first.
