I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Alas, the Classic doesn't support radio. The basic classic can only play stored audio files. iTunes plays radio by streaming it over the network.

Thank you for your help. I am still having trouble. As you can tell, I am not technologically advanced AT ALL. My music is all showing up in the library but when I go to file in the top left corner, Sync is greyed out and I cannot select it. I'm gonna continue to try this. unfortunately no, a million people are attempting to update their phones right now, and thus activate them. Patience will have to suffice.
For the future, I would recommend not updating essential work devices on the launch day

Check your sync settings on the Music and other tabs. Personally I untick the box that says "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" and under Edit > Preferences > Devices I tick the box that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically". This means that I get to choose and, if necessary, edit the content selections and then start the sync only when I'm ready.

There are alternatives. But none of them have Google street view, able to work on iOS 6. Apple should have offered this as a beta version, for a few more months instead of inflicting us with an inferior product. This iPad will probably be my last Apple product. A shame, because until last a few days ago, I thought the iPad and iPhone were fantastic.
Apple should quit their petty squabbling with, Google and Samsung and concentrate on supplying the best product.

Apple does not support downgrading the iOS. If you try installing an earlier iOS you get the error message. Apple only supports installing/restoring to iOS 6.0.1 on the 4G and 5G iPods.
