hi Braddburm,
Welcome to the Forums.
It looks like the onboard VGA port gave out. Try to:
1. Use a discrete graphics card to output your video (i.e. pci or low profile pci-e graphics card)
2. If option 1 is not possible and you're considering a replacement machine, you will need a 3.5 HDD sata enclosure to convert the internal HDD to an external HDD to read the data on the new replacement machine.
Best regards,
neokenchi

  • My desktop won't start

I have a treo 680 unlocked and installed missing synch software on my new macbook pro leopard.  I started using the sync function and was getting used to the weird looking (compared to desktop on windows) desktop presentation when I noticed that I wass getting all kinds of duplication and even triplication on my syncs.  I ttied to solve that problem with help from missing sync but to no avail. I decide to try and start over.
So I uninstalled missing sync andI went back to my PC and cleaned up my handheld with my PC desktop.  I couldn't uninstall desktop for mac so I reinstalled missing sync and did a hot sync.  I then noticed I would have the same problem as i got a notice from missing sync that I had more than 5% sync to do.  I wondered how that could be because this was supposed to be a new sync with no info on my desk top. I stopped the hot sync function and tried to see what was going on by opening my desktop.  I tried it several times. I tried downloading mac desktop again and re-installing it.  That didn't work, I kept getting the message that I had the most recent version on my mac and that I couldn't re-install.
So that brings me to my original subject statement.
My desktop won't start so that I can clean everything ou and do a start over sync.  Please someone help!!!

Has this ever been resolved?  It looks like it's 5 months old and I don't see any replies.  I saw this and immediately thought of the DEP(Data Execution Protection) feature that is a characteristic of Windows Vista.  If you go to your control panel,to system, to advanced system settings, and then click the settings button in the performance section, the DEP is the third thumnail to the right(should be the last one there).  This is where you can turn it on or off and add programs for it to ignore.
However, usually when it's the DEP that kills a program unexpectedly, the operating system has usually made it known to the user that it was the DEP.

  • Lenovo 3000 N100, Services failed to start No internet connection, Win Vista H Prem SP2

Can not connect to the internet.
Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center   .. Below  Sharing and Discovery "off "
Tried to connect wireless first.  Network discovery is off. Clicked to turn on and apply..... it will not turn on?  (still trying )  To end I had to use the task manager, to end program.
Connected a network cable to the laptop and fill out the wizard connection information.
Still will not connect.   Restarted with network cable attached no connection.
Wireless Connection status, Radio off. Click on "Power on Wireless Radio"  will not come on.
Also have some spooler issues, currently no printer installed. "The Dependency service or group failed to start."
     Lenovo 3000 N100 Win Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit,  system rating 3.1
I think this is all a services issue?
    Suggestions?
After yet an additional restart "Connection Status: unknown The dependency services or failed to start."

Called into the Lenovo help desk for software, Rommel did diagnostic with me and it seem to be a virus.  I have no services files running and no internet connection.
With no internet connection it's hard to get a service from Lenovo.
They are will to sell me a one time service for 89.00 and if it's considered major it would go to 129.00.
A one year service agreement would be 179.00 for 3 major and unlimited minor and they would on either of these send me a boot disk.
They did a great Diagnostic work I'm just not sold they can fix my problem.
On the command line   ping 127.0.0.1 gets me Unable to initialize windows Socket, error code 10107.

  • My Mac Pro Desktop won't start

I had been using Mac Pro Desktop since 2006, and it had been problemm free until today. Now, everytime I turn on the computer, and it would run for 20 seconds, and then it just stops. I need to hold the start buttom for a few second to turn it off.
I didn't install any new updates for months and also didn't connection new external device.  Could you solve the problem for me?
    Thanks
    Edward

Thanks.... I brought my Mac Pro to Apple Store Genius Bar earlier today, and the tech told me that the graphic card isn't working. He suggests me either to buy a new card by myself (cheaper option) or to have them to fix it for me. Since my Mac Pro is older (bought in 2006 and I believe it is the first generation), I wondered which graphic card I should buy. I am using DVI connection for my Apple Cinema HD Display monitor
    Thanks!

  • [Solved] plasma-desktop won't start by itself

Not sure what I did but when I try to log in to KDE 4.5, via KDM, slash screen does it's thing, and then I end up with a session that doesn't have plasma-desktop. I have to run plasma-desktop from krunner (Alt+F2) to start it. How do I get it to start on its own again?
EDIT: In trying to change KDE to use the raster graphics system I misspelled it. Dumb.

  • HP desktop won't start, red light flashing and beeping, loud fan

Yesterday it was working just fine. I turned it off for the night and when I tried to turn it on this morning, a red light was flashing and beeping as well as the fan making a loud humming noise. I've read the the beeping and flashing means something. I didn't keep track of the number of flashes and beeps though. After the beeping and flashing I turned the computer off then back on. This time there was no red light, flashing, or beeping. Nothing appeared on the monitor either. After about 10-20 seconds of it being on, the fan started to hum really loudly again.
It's an HP Compaq dc7900. I've only had it for about 3 months and it was fine up until now.
    Any help? Thanks.

    Hi
I'v checked the specs for your HP and Acer machines and yes it will be fine to cross over RAM modules they are identical in speed and architecture . Please don't forget the last post about removing the sources of power before you go inside the PC to check RAM . Other thing is if your HP has more than one RAM module remove only one stick first and try to boot . If it still won't boot with that module take that one out and try to boot from the other before you look to swap over modules from Acer machine . Don't forget to re connect your monitor to see if you get display with one / two etc modules . Post me back your findings

  • G5 desktop won't start. Fans don't run

I'm trying to fix a friend's G5 desktop, 1st generation. 1st LED comes on, 2nd LED comes on when I press start button. Power supply voltages are correct. Hard drive runs, but fans don't come on. I have power to fans. 5 and 12 volts. No beeps. Pressed SMU button as well, and nothing changes. Don't see any bulging caps. Someone else changed a few before I got it. Also jiggled RAM chips. Any ideas?? Thanks

You can try switching the RAM around and running with one stick or the other. Have you checked the Apple Hardware Test on your install disc to see if it finds anything?

I found this solution which worked for me: http://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/Lat … tallations
Edit the run.conf file in your CrashPlan app installation directory
        Default location: /usr/local/crashplan/bin/
Navigate to the end of the GUI_JAVA_OPTS section
Add this line, inside the quotes:
        -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla
        Example:
    SRV_JAVA_OPTS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Dapp=CrashPlanService -DappBaseName=CrashPlan -Xms20m -Xmx512m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=300 -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=300 -Dsun.net.inetaddr.negative.ttl=0 -Dnetworkaddress.cache.negative.ttl=0 -Dc42.native.md5.enabled=false"
    GUI_JAVA_OPTS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Dapp=CrashPlanDesktop -DappBaseName=CrashPlan -Xms20m -Xmx512m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=300 -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=300 -Dsun.net.inetaddr.negative.ttl=0 -Dnetworkaddress.cache.negative.ttl=0 -Dc42.native.md5.enabled=false -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla"
        Save the file
The CrashPlan app should launch properly

I have tried anything I can think of to open the desktop software and just get the same message, "BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close." I can open device manager just fine, but not the desktop, even after I downloaded and installed the dotnetfx3.5, unzipped the 610._b034_multilanguage file and installed, and even tried to restart multiple times! • Desktop won't start; blinking green light

I have a Compaq Presario SR 1318NX which will not start!?  There is a blinking green light on the back of the power supply; which is normally solid green when 110V AC is plugged into it.  I have tried the trick of holding the start button while plugging in the power cord ..... no help.  I have also opened the case and carefully removed every power cord to all the internal devices ................ the light turns solid green only when I pull the main power from the motherboard!
Do I need to replace the motherboard?  The troubleshooting site on hp.com would indicate the power supply is OK if the light is solid green.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Lou

My wife's computer has been having the same problem several times. One solution I found that worked before was to unplug the motherboard power cable and the PSU power cable from the back of the PC and then connect the power cable and connect the motherboard power cable while holding down the power button. Scary, to say the least, but it worked, until one day I accidentally flipped the wrong breaker and then spend two hours trying the same solution with no luck and Googling again. And here is what I found. This is the simplest yet crudest solution. It’s easy and non invasive and it doesn’t matter how tech savvy you are. Take a blow dryer and turn it on to blow air at the back of the power supply for a couple minutes. When you see the light turn green you’re all set. It's worked for me after it worked for a hundred others, maybe more. See the testimonials on this site: http://talk19.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/hp-m7088d-power-supply-led-blinks-green/. It’s a shame that nothing like this appears on any HP site. So don’t waste your money on a new MoBo or PSU. All you need is your wife’s hair drier.

  • Desktop won't start and has no blue lights

My pavilion elite desktop has had a high pitch noise since I bought it. I read that the video card could cause that so I got a new video card but it made the same sound. I tracked the sound down to the psu. I returned the video card and got a new psu. The noise is got but the machine doesn't boot up now. All fans come on but no front panel lights no keyboard lights no monitor output. Tried putting the old psu back in. The noise was back but still no boot. I tried removing each piece of hardware till all I had was memory and hd left and still no lights. I swapped memory locations, sata cables, tried the card reader trick. Nothing seems to work. Could a blown led for the front panel cause it to not boot? That's the only connector I have left since I need it to power on.<br><br>Thanks for any ideas.

I have a HP Pavilion P7 1010a, it has been working good until today it decided not to start up... When I go into startup repair it just freezes on this blue screen with like sunlight coming down from top.

Also, I haven't said anything before now, however, it could be a failed power supply unit (PSU).  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot that possibility.  I didn't bring it up until now because the computer is newer.
