My macbook pro 13" displays pink dotted screen on monitor and normal screen for the mac, how do I change it so that it has the same screen?

Hi
I have a new macbook pro, I have the adaptor to plug it into my LG monitor.  It displays on the monitor but it is the pink dotted screen not the screen that is displayed on the macbook ?
I have gone to system preferences and I cant seem to find how to output the mac to the monitor ?
Cheers

Try:
System Preferences > Displays > ...
... and set the reolution back to the maximum.

2012 Macbook Pro Retina Display artifacts on screen when using onboard video.
About a month ago I've noticed these strange artifacts (blocky pixelated looking) running vertically down the screen. It first started when using Safari. Then it started to happen all the time. I turned off the auto switch video in preferences, which I'm assuming forces the computer to use the separate video card and the artifacts go away.
On top of that issue I also have had the ghosting issue.
    Anyone else have this problem?

artifacts onscreen could mean a faulty gpu. You said by forcing it on inbuilt gpu you do not find this issue highlights that. Do take it in to apple for service and also tell them of your ghosting issue.
There are a few retina owners who have faulty gpus.

    Hey kbert73
I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

What country are you in ? Depending upon what country that you are in then you might be able to redownload them on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the iTunes store homepage
If you're not in a country where TV programmes can be redownloaded then connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and use the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from your iPad

sounds like you broke the display when you dropped it.  There's nothing we users here can do for you.
Since the iPhone warranty does not cover accidental damage, you will have to pay to have your phone repaired or replaced.  You can bring it into Apple for an out of warranty exchange in the country of purchase, or you can find a 3rd party iPhone repair store in your area.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro OS X show a different file size than previous models, of the same folder?

I'm copying a folder from the server to burn to disc from my MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8, then tried to burn it to disc using Toast Titanium.
It gave an error saying it's too big: 4.7 GB, then when we checked from a previous model MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.8 and it was 4.3 GB.
    How is this possible?

Apple changed the way file sizes are reported between Leopard and Snow Leopard. Leopard saw 1024 bytes as a kilobyte, 1024 KB as a megabyte, and 1024 MB as a gigabyte: the traditional binary-numeral nomenclature used for decades in the computer industry. But consumers didn't understand that, and always wondered why a hard drive with, say, 250,000,000,000 bytes of storage space on it was reported to contain 232 GB instead of 250. So to cater to a dumbed-down public, in Snow Leopard and Lion, 1000 bytes is a KB, 1000 KB is a MB, and 1000 MB is a GB: decimal nomenclature. Consequently, SL and Lion report larger file sizes than older versions of OS X for the same files and folders.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Display - Keyboard Marking Screen

    Hello,
The keyboard on my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display is leaving marks on the screen.  They wash off with a damp soft cloth.  Any suggestions to stop the problem.
    Thanks
    Joe

In my opinion this is a defect in your MacBook Pro.  The tolerances are extremely tight.  The keys should not come into contact with your screen whatsoever.   I would call Apple tech support to see if it warrants a replacement if you want.  I even had a retina MacBook Pro for a couple weeks (before I returned it because of image retention issue in LG display) and there was never any key marks on the screen.  If you have a Samsung display though I would be hesitant asking for a replacement.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Display Issue (snowy screen)

I have noticed when my mid 2012 MBP Retina comes out of sleep, it sometimes goes to a snowy (like TV static) screen for like 1/2 a second before the login screen shows up. So far I've only noticed it with the Intel 4000 card, and not the nVidia GeForce 650M, but I have not done enough testing to be certain. I started noticing this issue in beta 5 or 6 of Yosemite, and it continues to be a problem after the final release.

Okay I ran the MacBook exclusively on the nVidia video for 2 days and did not notice the issue once. Today I switched back to the Intel card and it did it first time it came out of sleep. Now I am wondering if it's hardware or driver issue. That is the only video issue I notice.

  • My mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina display broke (cracked internally) just by cleaning it. Is the display really this sensitive?!

My mother was using my laptop and meant well by cleaning off her finger prints (which stick pretty well to this display) afterwards. A thumb was pressed against the lower left corner wiping a microfiber cloth back and forth, while resting the other four fingers on the back to prevent the display from swiveling backward. We filed a claim on her insurance, but an appraisal done by a so called "specialist" came to the conclusion that the damage could not have possibly been caused by the above described act. Oh yeah, and this diagnosis was made solely from 2-3 images of the screen itself.

  • WD 1TB not recognised on 13" macbook pro retina (late 2013) even though it is exFAT file structure. The same drive is recognised on iMac and an old Dell laptop. I also have a seagate 2TB external hard drive (powered) that is recognised by my macbook pro.

I just bought a late 2013 macbook pro retina 13" a few days ago. I am trying to transfer all my music from my old Dell laptop. I formatted by 1TB Western Digital MyPassport to exFAT to allow read and write on both operating systems. The 1TB WD My Passport is recognised by both my Dell and iMac but not my new macbook pro retina 13 (late 2013).  My 1TB WD My Passport is USB 3.0 with USB 2.0 backward compatability. I also just bought a 2TB Seagate Desktop Backup Plus (which is powered) for backing up and extra file storage, THIS WORKS! I don't understand how this works on my macbook pro but my 1TB western digital my passport doesn't. PLEASE HELP!! I have done full formats as well (not quick ones) which take nearly 8 hours. Is there a pattern to the time of day or other detail that may be
traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house
electrical field? An intermittent ground may affect more than sleep.
Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.
PS: Perhaps the computer needs to go into Apple & have a genius
or product specialist at AASP test the unit thoroughly... BlueTooth?

  • How can I get my OS X back to my MacBook Pro? Booted Widows 7 from a disc and have deleted all the partitions. :(

Guys! I'm new to OS X and not used to it so I tried installing Windows 7 having the thought that it's as easy as on ordinary laptops. Installation was succesfull, Installed it by first going to a "boot utility like" screen while it's still on OS X, Deleted all those partitions, Placed a Windows 7 disc in the disc drive and on the Windows installation menu I also deleted the partiotions I saw. After all that my MacBook successfuly is running Windows 7 but problems appeared like no backlight on the keyboard, Trackpad is no longger functioning well and the audio jack has this f*cking red light. :'( I admit this is all my fault and I really need to find a solution to get it running on OS X again. Please help!!! Sorry for my bad english... And also, While booting up, There is no more Apple logo but a silver screen then Windows...

A partition is just a section of the disk set aside for a particular purpose. In this case, we're talking about a Mac partition and a Windows partition. They have different formats, which is how the data is stored. The disks that came with your Mac will create the Mac partition when you install, but most likely you'll lose the Windows partition. You've got kind of a mess at this point. What you should do is install the Mac OS and get everything as you want it. Then run Bootcamp to create a Windows partition and let Bootcamp do the Windows installation for you. Grant gave you good advice earlier. Don't let Windows do any partitioning. That's how you got into this mess.

  • Macbook Pro startup password is being filled by computer and will not allow the correct one

I have a nearly new Macbook pro retina 13 inch.  While moving files to and from an external drive, there was an odd shaking of the files etc.  Today when I tried to restart the computer and got to the machine password entry, the machine started filling in the password until full, and would not allow me to delete the password to enter my own without again filling in some other characters.  Is there a way to bootup and bypass the password?

Sounds like a stuck-on keyboard key, not a software issue.

  • MacBook Pro 13" 2011 - Won't let me use 2 USB ports at the same **** time.

I'm trying to use 2 usb driven hardware devices at the same time and it won't let me - one of them always disconnects (usually the 2nd port) ...even though both devices work on other macbooks ive used lately..
Is it possible one of them isnt properly powered? Is there any way of "turning" them both on?
Sorry I sound so novice, i've had macs for 10+ years but i've never had this problem before...

USB ports on a computer have always had a limited amount of power. The least expensive solution is to get a powered USB hub, meaning it has a separate power supply. The hub will provide enough power to keep things running.
It will also make your extenal hard drives behave better it they are USB-powered.
    Here's an example:
