Thank you for responding. I just went to the link. I previously checked on system preferences but everything there appears as it should. I also went through the other steps such as trying a headset. There is also no sound with this. I don't remember doing anything different on my computer between yesterday and today that may have to do with software or how preferences are selected. So I fear something is physically broken. Do you have any other suggestions for troubleshooting?

Password doesn't work?
If so, try resetting it. If the computer is having any other problem, take it to the Apple store to have it checked out.
Reset Password starting from Recovery HD
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.

I am unsure as to why this is occurring, but I have heard this can be caused by software rather than a hardware issue. I am led to believe this is the case because my fan is not loud all of the time, only some times and in random bursts. How can I stop this?

When your fans are loud, open Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities) and choose "All Processes" above "Show" in the toolbar. Then, look for processes that are taking a lot of RAM and CPU, and copy their name here with their CPU and memory usage

I have recently purchased an ethernet usb adapter for the MBA and after a month it is not working. Says cable unplugged.
Now I have tried it with 2 other connections on other computers that are working and still no response. Many reviews or fixes online mention something with a 10.5.5 patch that seems quite outdated and do not work. Anyone figure out how to fix this or do I have a broken adapter?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

There has never been a facetime app on the iphone.
As the manual says, you access from contacts. Pick a contact and scroll down to the facetime button

I was working on a project and I closed it after saving and closed photoshop. Then later when I came to make another adjustment to my PSD I opened the file and it said "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." How can I fix this? Okay, I just talked to the person that originated the document.
When this usually happens to me, it's because I've done something stupid like saved a .jpeg as a .psd. So that's what I tried. I tried a few other extensions as well, so I thought that it was not an extension problem. Well, the originator told me it had originally been a TIFF, which was the ONE FILE EXTENSION I DIDN'T TRY. :\
Anyway, that fixed it. Usually this error indicates either a corrupt file or the wrong extension, just in case anyone ever digs this convo up later.

Do you use "Caps Lock" cause your description reminds me of its default velocity setting?
If yes, keep in mind that your computer keys are note velocity sensitive! There are a few keys in the "Caps Lock" which can be used to set the velocity output to some fixed dynamic values like "pp", "mf", "FF". Another scenario is to patch a Transformer between the Logic Physical Input & the Sequencer and set the Transformer to randomize the velocities, but it is not the same like using an external midi hardware controller which is velocity sensitive.

However, I initially downloaded the CS5 suite digitally and I can't find out how I am able to perform a fresh install of InDesign. If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
Check for app updates.
Force the app to close.
Restart your device.
Update your iOS device.
Learn more about troubleshooting apps.
On Step 2, close all applicaitons that are open. On Step 3, if the restart doesn't help resolve the issue, you may also want to try the Reset step in that article as well.
