MacBook Pro 2008 won't start up - can anyone help?
I had left my Mac on last night and came down this morning to find it wouldn't respond. I could hear it whirr a bit but nothing on the screen. I pressed the shut-down button, thinking that it would shut down and then start up again. I could see the light at the front go off and it shut-down. When I pressed the button to start-up again there was no dong noise and it sounded as though the DVD drive was trying to read the DVD that is in there. The fan started up after a while and then it went 'dead'. Still nothing on the screen.
The fan has been making a lot of noise when I am doing something that seems to be demanding and I know the battery probably needs replacing. It has been cutting out after a very short time of usage without power without even warning me that it is running low.
I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

SusannahThere's no telling what's wrong - it's most certainly a hardware problem and can only be properly diagnosed by a qualified Apple technician. If I were you, I would take the machine to your local Apple Store or AASP and have them run diagnostic tests on the machine and give you an estimate on what it would take to fix it.
Sorry, but it's difficult to diagnose these types of problems over the Internet...

Hi, I have had my MacBook Pro stolen and the police have mentioned about using iCloud to see if I can track it's whereabouts - however I have no idea if I had iCloud on my MacBook or how to track it if I did - can anyone help me please? Thanks

To see if you have iCloud, open http://www.icloud.com and log in with your Apple ID. If you can access to iCloud, you have iCloud. If you get an error message or you can't access, you don't have iCloud. This only works if you only have the Mac (not an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with iCloud).
Apart from that, "Find my Mac" must be turned on in the Mac in order to track it, so if it wasn't turned on, you won't be able to track it. If it was turned on, the computer must be connected to the Internet to be tracked.
If you can access to iCloud through http://www.icloud.com, choose "Find my iPhone" and look at the Devices list. If your MacBook Pro shows up, "Find my Mac" is turned on, so see if you can track it and tell to the police that it's possible to track your MacBook Pro -

I lost my bluetooth after installation of Maverick2. Can anyone help me please, i cannot use my magic mouse on my Mac Book Pro retina???
There is a fix; I finally discovered how to clear the Windows 7 xx64 Device Manager's warning of a missing Bluetooth Peripheral device.
Thinking Boot Camp 4.0 would correct thid, I installed it ititially today only to have the warning remain.
The Bluetooth company called Broadcom (you notice the reference during the installation of Boot Camp) offers a BlueTooth "device finder" (my phraseology) that detects all BlueTooth devices in your Apple or PC but withing a Windows operating system; included are Windows 7 , Vista, XP and even 2000 operating systems.
So download the 3 MB file, from Broadcom.com. While your Bluetooth equipment is plugged in to the computer, run the program. The program searches for any BlueTooth peripheral activated equipment and BlueTooth devices that makeup your MacBook Pro, or other Apple or a plain PC computer having a Windows operating system installed. It then downloads the appropriate software required.

In my case, I ran the program, rebooted my MacBook Pro (in Windows 7 x64 and with the new Boot Camp 4.0 installed) and the missing BlueTooth peripheral device indication was eliminated. It took 10 minutes to complete. -

So I gave it a "global port range" of 1-10 and I indicated that the "base host port" was 80, 1025, & 9000 (ports 1,2,3). When I selected the 'enable' it asked for a "host devise" my choices are my IPhone, IMac and the IP address for the dvr, so I choose the dvr. I still cannot connect and canyouseeme still can NOT find these open ports. This is taking up my whole day! I don't know how people figure this stuff out.

Can anyone help me please?The figures you mention only make sense on your intranet. Are you still using the same wireless router. The verizon one is somewhat limited as far as max wireless-n performace. For one thing it only has a 2.4 radio. I like many people who wanted wireless-n performance before they even added a wireless-n gigabit router, have my own handling my wireless-n network.

There is nothing new or separate to launch. When the QT 7.6.9 Player is keyed with your registration name and number, the player itself becomes the QT v7.6.9 "Pro" player with additional features "unlocked" for your use. For instance, if you have a QT compatible file loaded in your player and can now open the "Properties" window, then you have "Pro" feature access. In a similar manner, "File" menu transcoding and "Edit" menu features are now accessible. -
