  • I changed my nickname in iTunes but it did not change in the forums

    Hi,
I just changed my nickname in iTunes and it said that it changed, but when I logged into the forums, it did not change. Any ideas?

No, they didn't. If someone has a different alias here, it's because they set up a new Apple ID. This issue has been covered extensively in the Using Apple Support Communities forum.
    Regards.

  • HT4314 I remember my Game Center nickname but not the email address I used to create it.  I have tried every email address I could have used and none are correct - is there no way to find out the info from Apple? Seriously?? Because that's crazy.

Because it isn't my Apple ID. Each of our iThings has a different Game Center account and only one uses our real ID. Thanks, though.

  • TS3899 My IPhone took the liberty of useing a nickname for my husband.

My IPhone e-mail sent me a forwarded missive from my husband and substituted, "Buggy" for his real name. This is odd since I have never written "Buggy" on any communication to him although I have called him that many times. My computer e-mail did not call him Buggy. This happened after I downloaded the latest upgrade that was apparently supposed to fix numerous glitches.
A few other annoying issues took place:
All of my dates in my datebook are now double and I can't seem to get rid of the crowding that has taken place.
A number of important e-mail messages disappeared and I had to relocate them by searching when they should have been right there.
All of my music is also doubled and in some cases tripled.
Finally, and I know this cant be fixed but I wish that the emphasis was on my contacts and my calendar and not on the music collection which is secondary in my life.
Does any one have a suggestions or similar problems and are there any solutions?

Did your husband choose that as the Nickname for his Email account?

  • I am trying to pay my bill online.  However, when I click the "submit" key, it tells me my "nickname" is incorrect.  What the heck is a nickname?  I have never had this trouble before.

I am trying to pay my bill online.  However, when I click the "submit" key, it tells me my "nickname" is incorrect.  What the heck is a nickname?  I have never had this trouble before.

Had the same problem. Here's how I sorted it out, not including yelling at my PC or ranting in my own thread (that's optional): First you want to delete your saved payment option. If you try this and it does not delete, log out and back in. It should be gone. Now re-enter your payment option (credit card number or whatever you are using) and if it asks if you want to save the data for future use, make sure you give it a nickname that doesn't include any special characters. Hope this works for you!

  • HT4314 My iPad was erased and all I cannot connect back to Game Center, it says that my Apple ID has not been used in Game Center. Can I recover my Game Center sessions just by my nickname?

My iPad was erased and when I try to connect back to game center it tells me that it has not been used in Game Center before when I used to have a Game Center nickname and played a lot. Looks like somehow my Apple ID and my Game Center Nickname have been disconnect.
Is there a way to find out what Apple ID is associated to a Game Center Nickname??

Mine did the exact same thing last week.
I did the software update and then the restore and it only restored photos, emails, and iPad settings. It did not restore apps and now my apple ID is no longer associated with my game center ID and I can't figure out how to reconnect them. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Nickname in "View my account" - can you restore the blank field?

Hey, I am using iTunes with my AOL screenname. When I set up my account, I went to check my profile by selecting "Store --> View my account..."
As you know, there is the option to set up a nickname for reviews and stuff. Originally, I did not have a nickname, so the field was blank. I figured I'd try and reserve my AOL screenname as a nickname. My desired one, however, was in use by another user. I cancelled out and the field was still empty. So far so good.
Then I tried with some random nickname just for the sake of it. I entered something that was not in use by another user, and as a result, the nickname field showed that name. That was to be expected.
Now I thought I could always reset the field to blank status, removing my nickname. I am shocked I cannot do this. Whenever I access my account, I am seeing some nickname I did not really want in the first place. And I cannot reset it? I have to say I am very disappointed about this. It just looks wrong.
I can change the nickname to something different but I cannot remove it. Seeing that my AIM screenname is taken, I do not want to use any different nickname at all. I just want to have it reset to how it was when I first loaded my account information: blank field.
    Any help? Thanks for reading.

I refer to the placement of items in a folder -- for example, if a folder was set to icon view, and the icons were arranged a specific shape (i.e. a square or a happy face), would that pattern survive a Time Machine restore?
    yes.
Furthermore, does anybody know where data pertaining to icon location is kept?
in the file .DS_Store sitting in the folder in question. there is a file like that in every folder.
I ask this question because my colleague uses folders with manual icon arrangement as a metadata.
    wow!
The Apple Store employees I spoke with today did not know if Time Machine tracks this data.
(Interestingly, my colleague's reference system has powered a number of highly influential publications. Perhaps this question could also be filed under the ethnography of data curation?)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  • HT4314 iPhone 5c iOS 8.0.2 Game Center randomly logged me out and asked for a nickname as if I did not have an account. How do I get my account back?

I updated my iPhone to iOS 8 then added the 8.0.2 update early last week.  On 10/3/14, I used an app that saves through Game Center with no problems (and had not been logged out of Game Center at any time since the update), then a few hours later when I tried to go back in, Game Center popped up and asked for my password.  I put in my password, then Game Center prompted me for a nickname.  When I entered my nickname, it told me it was associated with another account.  I only have one Apple ID and the account the nickname is associated with is my own.  After going out and back in and restarting the phone, I finally entered a new nickname thinking maybe it was being required as part of the update but then it cleared all of my Game Center information.  Is there a way I can get back to my original nickname and Game Center progress?  Thank you in advance for your help as I am not very tech savvy.

Even easier than what I wrote originally.    Just do a RESET ALL SETTINGS .  I was originally only trying the "reset network settings" but didn't try reset ALL settings.   This has helped 5 of my friends regain their Bluetooth connectivity with a variety of autos.   But remember two things: 1) back up data on your phone before trying this and 2) don't forget to delete the bluetooth original pairing from your car.

  • What's the point of nicknames for reviews if they must be unique?

I just attempted to write a review and was told my nickname taken.

A virtual copy is virtual. It is a record of the processing settings you made held in the database. LR never makes changes to the original files and does not create copies of original files (except on import if you so choose). A new file is created on export with the processing settings recorded in the database. The folder structure is irrelevant to LR other than LR needs to know where the file is on your computer.A virtual copy does not make an actual copy anywhere on your hard drive. It takes up no space as it is just a few lines of metadata recorded in the catalog. Hence virtual copy.
The point is that you may require several different versions of the same image file, different crops, different processing settings etc. These can all be recorded in the catalog and when you require the particular version you export it. On export it can be sent anywhere you like.
I would suggest you have a look at the LR manual through the help system (press F1 when LR is open) and have a look at some of the video tutorials in order to understand the basics of LR

  • I cannot enter a nickname in the game centre

Unable to enter a nickname in the game centre

I also have this problem. For me Game centre just freezes on the saving screen after entering a nickname (though the application is not registering as not responding). I have a brand new imac 21.5inch 2.7ghz i5 with osx10.8.2.

  • Nickname NOT shown with app reviews.

I know this has been asked before but all the solutions are months old and pertain to when Ping was relevant with older verions on iTunes.
To start off, I have iTunes 10.7, on ML 10.8.2
I have disabled the Ping option (which for some reason still exists in Preferences -> Parental) within the iTunes app.
There are NO further options within your account settings for anything to do with Ping.
Having done all this, whenever I post a review, it is still showing my full name not my nickname.
Trying to edit my nickname has no effect.
Editing an existing review and reposting still results in my full name, not my nickname showing .
All results via google have a solution >1 year old, involving turning Ping off, but this is no longer the case with iTunes 10.7...
...so can someone please tell me how to revert back to my nickname alone in reviews and switch all reviews with my full name back to nicknamed ones?
    Thanks or any help.

Looks iTunes app 10.7 is still looking at the old & dead Ping DB? I need to post an app review but i had deleted my post just because of this :-(

  • Can't get the new game center to accept any nickname

I want to try the new game center, but any nickname I give it, I get a message that the name is already in use. I've given it several very unique and creative tries, but it won't accept any of them. Anybody out there encountered this?

Same problem here. My ID is already created and used on the Apple site. Game Center even tells me that my e-mail address is alreay in use and to change it. Duh, of course my e-mail address is in use and Apple has a record of it. Game Center has a major flaw in it. Since it is part of OS4.0 theree is no way to get rid of it. I would not mind it so much if it worked correctly. From what I have ready, Apple support is no help at all on this issue. I hope the programmers are aware of this and will have a fix out in the near future.

  • I can't register for Games Centre on iPhone 4.  It says that every nickname is already in use (even the most ridiculous and obscure ones)  Does anyone have a suggestion to correct this?

I have been trying to register for Games Centre on my iPhone 4.  I have tried so many Nicknames (even obscure and ridiculous ones), and it tells me that every single Nickname is aleady in use by another user.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Any suggestions on how to overcome this?  It would help if the Games Centre had a "Contact Us" tab.

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee
    Cheers, Gerd

  • HT4314 After updating my OS, I couldn't get onto my gamecenter account.  I created a new nickname to see what would happen.  Now I can only access my new nickname, but not my old one that has all my scores.  My friends can still see my old nickname.

After updating my OS, I couldn't get onto my gamecenter account.  I created a new nickname to see what would happen.  Now I can only access my new nickname, but not my old one.  However, my old account has all my scores!  I want to delete the new nickname and re-access my old (i.e., original) nickname.  Interestingly, my friends can still see my old nickname.
Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated!  Thanks.

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • Siri not recognizing nicknames

Since I upgraded to iOS7 Siri doesn't seem to recognize nicknames for contacts I have. For example, I have my sister's contact saved as her full name with her first name as "Elisabeth." I have her nicknamed as "Liz," because that is what I call her. I frequently say, "Text Liz [message]." Siri will then ask, "Did you mean Elisabeth?" I say yes and then Siri will ask me to confirm. Often times this extra step even deletes my message and I will have to say the content of it again. After I send that message, Siri will apologize for not knowing how to pronounce the name and ask me to pronounce it, except Siri is expecting me to pronounce "Elisabeth" and not "Liz." If I say "Elisabeth" Siri accepts my input but nothing changes. If I pronounce "Liz" Siri doesn't recognize my input and after a few failed attempts will suggest I put a nickname on her contact-WHICH I ALREADY HAVE. If I delete the nickname and then re-update it, Siri might recognize the name once but then it goes back to not working.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have had the same problem.  At one point I used the nickname and Siri asked to clarify the pronunciation, but only asked for the name and not the nickname.
