My pointer arrow is jumping around. my windows flip. i can't close windows--there are no 3 colored dots.i don't use a mouse. i just downloaded Lion and my mac has been acting weird since.

I work for Dr Pod, an iPod repair company. This sounds to be that the hard drive is dying in the iPod. As it is an older iPod it is out of its one year warranty, the iPod won't be repaired for free by Apple, and you'd need to consider wether it'd be better to have the iPod repaired by an iPod repair company such as my own, or to purchase a new one from Apple.
If you did choose to purchase a new iPod from Apple, then they do provide 10% off the cost of a new iPod if you exchange in your old one. I'm not sure if this applies to faulty ones though (I have heard of some people being turned away for having a faulty device).

My iPhone 4 has been acting weird since the update to iOS 5.1.1
I charged it to 100% yesterday morning and by the time I went to bed it was at 13%. I didn't do anything I don't normally do. A few games, email, check weather, sports scores; a couple hours of use.
Then this morning I was texting a buddy that's in town and when I got a response my screen just flashed on then off really quick and it make a weird static noise instead of the bell when I went to unlock the phone to read the message. Just before this I changed the volume of the ringer in settings because it sounded really high.
Has anyone else experienced anything weird since updating? I'm trying a reboot and will watch it for a while. Might be time to take it in and have it checked out.hi Allan,
Can't make or receive any calls. When making a call, you see the thing dialing but no tone, it rings at he other end however. When somebody trying to call me, it does not ring at my end. If you try to end the call, the phone page will just freeze, when you exit the phone page to go try the MP3 player for example, and come back, the phone is still trying to end the previous call. I tried resetting the network settings, turn the phone off and on , no difference at all. It's easter Sunday, everything is closed here in Montreal. -
I am using Iphone 5. SInce the last 3 weeks the phones has been acting weird. on dialling a call it get hung on disconnecting it stays on the call ending screen only. this happens for atleast 5 to 7 minutes and then it gets to normal or the other way is to turn the device off and then turn it on. the phones also running slow and therefore at times becomes very cumbersome. a few of my friends have also been having the same problems.
I have taken the phone to the service outles but the best they did was to reboot the phone it works fine for a day or two but again the same issue.
Can anyone share any info on it?I'm glad to hear that they replaced your phone. Any experience I have had with Apple customer service and/or Genius bar has been extremely positive. While I have had positive outcomes from trouble with other phones in the past, they are not as quick and friendly. I had a Motorola phone and a Samsung phone go bad several years ago and warranty work through AT&T required that I wait for a replacement unit and then mail back the original unit to keep from being charged for the device. This usually meant almost a week without a phone. Nice to walk into Apple and walk out with a replacement device. Enjoy your phone.

My MBP has been acting odd since installing N wireless update.
Since installing the N wireless protocol on my MBP my machine has been acting weird. It fails to see wireless networks, the system preferences fails to open at times. OSX freezes, Force quit doesn't actually quit the programs after they have frozen. Basically its so bad i am thinking about re-formatting my machine and starting again, (its only a week old)
Am I the only one who has this?Well..that is a bummer....
I did notice something else, don't know if it makes sense or not, but if the mac crashes while connected to my Airport Express at home, the Airport Express stops responding and all of the clients that are connected to it stop getting access to the Internet until I unplug it and plug it back in.
When the issue first arose, I thought it was a problem with the AP express, but since it happens even more frequently when using other routers, I know that is not the issue. Besides, everything was fine until I installed the Wireless-N update. I wonder if there is any way to remove the update?
I'll keep playing with it, but hopefully they find a solution soon. Being that our problem is exactly the same, I would be surprised if no one else is having this issue as well.

My computer has been acting weird lately. Shuts itself off, the mouse goes off in all directions, does not go into sleep mode sometimes, instead shows a gray screen with word definitions in large 3" letters that continuosly flows across the screen. Do I have a virus?

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts? -
the iphone has been acting weird. my iphone doesnt charge whenever it is switched On. When I switch OFF the phone, it charges for 2 mins then comes back On and stops charging. I dont know what the problem is. trust me, the problem isnt from d charger. PLS anyone with any solution

If your device has been jailbroken during the warranty, Apple will not service it.

"Hacking" of a BB would be highly unusual and unexpected -- if ever. After all, POTUS has one, and such would not be allowed if they were hackable. I believe that something else is going on, but lacking specifics, only generic advice can be given.
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hello, I tried updating my twitter yesterday and it's has been saying "waiting" since 4pm yesterday. Today I went to the apple the store and we tried every method to try to fix it but it couldn't be fixed and they sent me to you guys. Any idea what the problem is or how I can fix it? thank you
For the last 2 1/2 weeks Droid Incredible 2 has been doing the same thing....uninstalled countless apps, then even a factory resest. Plugged it in last night at 40% power, it was charging. Woke up this morning and once again completed dead. Apparently, this is happening to a great number of Incredible 2 owners. Hope Verizon makes it right.

Just downloaded Lion and now iMovie won't respond when I try to open it. Even tried deleting the program (since it was an older version) and bought it new from the app store, but still won't respond.
Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

We have about five devices in our family which have been deactivated. It has been so long since I registered them -years- and I don't recall how I did it. For instance, my daughter's IPod from when she was young doesn't work and neither does her IPod Nano. She can't get any of her music. My Shuffle doesn't work. I am embarrassed that I feel like having Apple products is too complicated for me. I can barely get through all the levels of logging in, let alone how to make the devices work again. Somewhere along the way I seem to remember getting a message that we had too many devices on our account. Which account? I have given up on this so many times and now it is years later and I am trying again. How can I get some meaningful customer service to use the products and music I bought and paid for?
I think in previous incarnations, people would have jumped all over you for your approach, but the Lion operating has generated decidely mixed or even negative reviews from users. So no one seems to disagree with you. I think many folks are simply staying with 10.6 and waiting to see if OS 10.8 is better than 10.7. I've mostly avoided upgrading OS's, or when I do I jump over one version completely because I've waited long enough that I'm two versions behind.
Here are the things that will/would motivate me to update the OS:
* incompatibility with MS-Office (I'm not a MS-Office fan but I do need to use it)
* incompatibility with flash or other tools needed to view modern web content (this might be a while as I am still using several different Macs, the oldest being a 2005 PPC iMac with 10.5.8 and an fairly old/outdated flash, but it seems to still do ok with most web content). Our 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo iMac runs 10.6.8 and can do just about anything we need -- like you, I decided not to go to Lion because it didn't look like much of an improvement.
* incompatibility with various commercial software, such as TurboTax, or with web sites I use to manage financial accounts and such things
We got my daughter a new Macbook Air just before she started college, and Lion plus a new Macbook Air model came out a month later. I am glad now about it actually, I think some of the Lion "issues" would have annoyed her greatly (especially the odd dropping of wireless access points under Lion, everyone is on wireless at colleges now). I'm hoping that the 10.8 OS will be better than Lion. We had (probably still have) a certificate for a free Lion upgrade but we decided not to use it. -
UPdate the iPad wjith new iOS upgrade that where shown under settings on the iPad, but after I did the upgrade the screen has only shown the apple and I can't get back. This has been the case since yesterday. Have turned off t.he iPad many times, but every timebwkhen Ibturn it on again the screen onöy show the apple icon and nothing else happends. What should I do? Anyone having the same problem and how can this be solved?

I upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion and it has been painfully slow ever since. Any ideas on what might be happening and how to fix it?
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Again, without knowning what problems you are having, it's difficult to tell you what you need to do. If the crash occurs only when you run certain software or connect a device, consider that a possible cause and look for updates or reinstall or uninstall via the developers procedures.
If that doesn't solve the issue, take the machine to Apple as it might be one of those models that is having issues, but doesn't show up in Hardware Test.
