My screen goes black and exits certain apps. Anyone else having this problem.

When using some of my apps that require a screen shot, the screen will go black and then the app is exited automatically. How can I fix this?

This has happened from time to time - but was not Verizon Blocking the website, but the other way around, the website usually will have an out of date bogon filter.    Verizon constantly is giving out new ip addresses to customers, sometimes with brand new IP Blocks as they get more and more customers.  So sometimes the filters in websites, are out of date and don't include the newest ip blocks.  
Usually you can engage the website owner, ask them to update their bogon filter list with your subnet,  but if that is not easy, then you can turn off your router at night when you go to bed, the 4 hour lease on your ip address will break, 2 to four more hours pass, and your ip will go to a different customer, or cycled back into the cloud, and then when you wake up and turn it back on you will have a new ip, that is likely not blocked.   
So give that a try.  OR if you are in a rush and need it asap, then release your DHCP ip leave your modem off for at least 10-30 minutes, so your IP can get cycled back into the cloud and you can get a new one.  if you do it too fast, then you will likely get the same ip and that defeats the purpose.

    Your problems may be caused by software or hardware, including the gray screen and the slowness.  The intermittent gray screen is a puzzler and probably is hardware.   TUSL2C’s diagnosis may be right on the money.  A question is how to isolate it to HW or SW that so you can get good service? 
    The obvious cheap and easy fix is to replace that cable but I don’t think you can do that  because it is under warranty.  There are other ways to isolate the problem that won’t void the warranty.
    If the disk turns out to be healthy and it continues to boot to a gray screen then that will be a sign that internal hardware, other than the disk, is to blame.  Since they are blaming it on software we will be able to test it with a pristine OS X installation that has no 3rd-party software to blame.

    The machine should go to sleep and wake up almost instantly every time without a gray screen.  If you can demonstrate the problem reliably by putting it to sleep and waking it up then that will be most useful.  We will show it failing on pristine OS X software without 3rd-party mods to prove it is an Apple problem.  Similarly if you can reliably show the gray screen from a power-on boot that will help.
    My first question is do you have a current Time Machine (or other) backup?  If not you should create one before we get to steps that could stress the disk.  If it is a faulty cable or a faulty disk then the system could stop functioning at any time.  It is always prudent to maintain a current backup and especially important when the system is sick.  If you do not have a Time Machine (or other) backup then post back for instructions on how to create one.
    In the mean time please download and run Etrecheck and post back the results.

    This will indicate possible software compatibles and other details that may be helpful in a diagnosis.
    Also run disk diagnostics with Disk Utility.  This will check if the disk and filesystem are healthy.
    From the Finder, pull down on the Go menu to Utilities.  This will open the Applications > Utilities folder.
    Then run Disk Utility.
    Click on the upper left disk icon.
    Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”.
              If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced.
    Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD”.
    Verify Disk.
    If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk.
    If it shows errors in red then you may have found a problem.
    Click on Repair Disk Permissions.
    It will give lots of messages in black and white, which are OK.
    If it gives any messages in red then there is an issue to address.
    It will be useful to have some test that shows the slow speed that uses standard OS X applications such as Pages, Numbers, Presenter, iTunes, iMovie... or even just the Finder opening windows or starting applications.  We can then use that test when isolating the source of the slowness.
    How many seconds does it take to boot from power-on to either the login screen or the Finder is up?  Please time that.  It is a good speed test.  If it is over a minute then something is wrong.
    One way to isolate the issues will be to sandbox it using another disk to test what happens with different software on different hardware disks in different locations.  That will not void the warranty.
    But before going there or proceeding further let’s look at the Etrecheck and Disk Utility results, ensure the system is backed up, and then try some other standard tests.

    Judging by the number of other threads on this, yes many people have been having Yahoo mail issues with push, and it appears to be on Yahoo's side, not Apple's.

    If it's happening on all apps that you've downloaded, but not on the Apple built-in apps, then try downloading any free app as that appears to reset something - you can then re-try your apps, and you can delete the free app.
    If it's only happening on one or two apps then try closing them completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with any of the affected apps 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the apps to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    What user troubleshooting have you tried? User steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. There is no lock for the iPhone in Landscape mode, so I believe a reset should help. Also, double-tap the home button and bring up the multi-tasking bar, find the Messages app and then swipe upwards on the app thumbnail to force it closed.

Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

    What version ipad and which version ios are you using?
    Try this:
    Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
    Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
    If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
    (no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

    Two days ago my iPad 3 and IPad 2 started to crash very unexpectedly. Both iPads have wifi and cellular and both are running iOS 7.0.2. I will be working and suddenly the screen just wipes to black and then the big white Apple appears as if I have done a hard reset. The iPads always come back, but the crashes and unexpected app closures are happening with greater frequency. It happens more with the iPad 3 than with the iPad 2. Until two day ago both iPads had been very stable.  I don't keep a lot of apps open and I have plenty of GB of free space. I do hard resets after each event, doesn't help the situation. Did Apple do some kind of update to the OS in the last few days? I was just getting used to the new OS and this is very frustrating.     4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.

    The problem is being reported in the news media, yes. Apparently someone at Apple jumped the gun and uploaded the update before it was ready. They'll probably issue another update shortly, I would expect, but you can go here:

    and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. If you have a backup copy of the older version of the app, remove the newer version, restore the old version to iTunes on your computer, and resync.
    Update: Well, that was certainly quick. As of a short time ago, various sites are reporting that the Find My iPhone app is no longer displaying the previous error message. If it still is for you, delete it from your iPhone and re-download from the iTunes Store.

    Well, if they have truly disappeared then something is really messed up. For really messed up stuff, you need to set it to factory default condition, and then afterwards, restore it from your backup.
