My Send Button is gone on Mac Mail

There's no send button in the upper left hand corner when I try to send an email. I've
never had this happen before. So, I can't send mail from my computer.
Anyone ever hear of this happening before? How do I fix it? Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you!

Command-shift-D will send a message.
To restore the button, create a new message (command-N), then in the 'View' menu select 'Customize Toolbar'. Drag the 'Send' button in the pane which opens to the toolbar.

  • Send Button is gone from new message toolbar

I was forwarding a mail message and when I went to "send" it, there was no send button to select. I think thhe default mailbox might have been my defunct .mac address. I toggled the correct email account and still no send button. I rebooted, nothing. The 3 other users all have the send button still.
What happened and how do I get SEND back onto my mail toolbar?

To get the Send button back go to the File menu and select New Message, then go in the View menu and select Customize Toolbar. In the Customize Toolbar drop-down drag the Send button into the New Message toolbar.

  • Send button is gone!

Hi, I can't send messages from a new window as it seems the toolbar at the top of the new window doesn't have a send button (paper airplane) I have tried to "customize toolbars" but it doesn't apply to new windows + there isn't a send option.

    Loker,
Once the Compose window is open, click on the small, white, pill-shaped button at the top-right -- your Toolbar has been hidden.
This is also a command for any window in the Pull-Down under View, and toggles between Show Toolbar, and Hide Toolbar.

  • Cannot Send Mail  Sender Address Rejected by server (Mac Mail)

I am getting this message whenever I try to send mail using MAC mail though my cable provider (COX). It has just started. I can send mail fine from a PC on my network and via at ATT wireless card. But not via cable. I have tried all the obvious things and many things discussed in the forum including:
    - Run disk warrior in case there was a file problem
    - Delete user info from cox account
    - Reset modem and router
    - Change outgoing port
    - switched from wifi to Ethernet connection
In talking to COX, they say they seem to have some undocumented incompatibilities with Mac mail that appear to be intermittent. He said this is common problem.
I have had this problem one other time and resetting the modem seemed to fix the problem.
Anybody find a permanent solution to this problem.

Well I think I solved it. It appears that the outgoing server information dissapeared. The outgoing mail menue is hard to find go to preferences/accounts.
At the bottom of the page is a pull down menu of different outgoing servers. One of the options is edit. Select this. While my COx account was there the information was no longer there. Filled it in again and everything worked fine.
I must say it took me a while to find where I could adjust the outgiong mail server. Very poor design on Apple's part!

  • I am unable to send a PDF attachment using mac mail so that it appears in the body of the email when arrives in the recipient's inbox.

I attach the pdf file as a view in place instead of view as icon, but it arrives in the recipient's inbox as a pdf icon attachment.  I have heard that there are programs that can make the attachment be viewed in the body of the email, but i have been unable to find them.  Does anyone have any suggestions??  I have called apple care, and been to the genius bar, but nothing.  it seems that if the email is sent from mac mail to mac mail it works, but to any other mail program they only receive the icons.

new account are created without a password, so asking for it is normal.
    see http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/pssswords.html
Compare the passwords Thunderbird has for the other accounts and see if using the same one is what you need to do.

  • Sending a animated GIF via .Mac mail

Hi everyone, I know this is the wrong forum, although my question crosses over. I want to send animated GIF pics. through my .Mac account. I downloaded many really cool animated pics. and can only watch them move in Text Edit. Is it possible to send them in the mail, or even attach them in the forum? This is no life or death question, just fun. I want to attach the funny moving little animals to my friends. When I attach them to mail, they no longer move. On my own system I can see them wiggle around only in Text Edit. Many thanks to replies.

Oh, on the other questions, they can be added to most forums, view the Source of this page, search for DSOM, and you'll see the code required, just replace with your animated gif.

  • Problem sending email through Comcast with Mac Mail

I have seen this problem discussed here but no solution that I follow. Is there an
easy fix to this. I am able to receive emails but...
Here's the error message I get when I try to send from Mail:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server.
I have tried changing the email address and the user name..but without success.
The "Connection Doctor" in the Windows Menu went through a check and determined that my settings (POP Account and Internet connection status) were correct, as far as incoming and outgoing servers. ("connection to server succeeded") Didn't mention any other problems.
    Any help appreciated, thanks

I managed to get things working by deleting my mail account then recreating. Although this has been suggested before, I encountered a comcast glitch during the process that may explain some of this misbehavior. Comcast asked us to create new 8 character passwords. However, the incoming mail server still wants you to log in to your old password, while the smtp server wants the new password.
Although this may be more work than necessary, here is how I got my mail working again.
Create temporary folder in Filed Mail and move messages in your inbox to the temporary folder.
    Delete your comcast acount.
Recreate comcast account, using automatic setup.
enter old password at first prompt.
enter new password at second prompt when it looks for the correct PW to enable outgoing mail.

  • The "send" button in the mail programm is gone ... how can I make it visible again?

For a couple of days my "send" button in the mail programm is gone and I can´t send emails due to this failure. I am pretty sure my 2-year old daughter hit some button by accident and the "send" button is gone since then. She discovered a couple of features by accident I would have never dreamed of so far so I believe the hidden button is also possible to get back. Please help since I couldn´t find something so far.
    Thank you!

right click on the button bar, then select "customize toolbar", drag any button you like into the toolbar and you're done!

  • Error Message While Trying to Send email from Mac Mail...

hello. i have been following the discussion board from some time, and finally made my first mac purchase. only 3 days old.anyways, i am trying to send mail from my .mac email account. i paid for the 1 year subscription,so i know my subscription status is still up to date. however, when trying to send an email using the Mac Mail application,i get this error..
    Error
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
the connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.
    can someone help me?
    my isp is: Cox
    location: Virginia, USA
just incase someone needed that. oh yes,i can also receive mail, but i just can not send any emails. i was trying to send an email to a "gmail" acct, and i also attached a 2mb pic.thank you to anyone who can assist me.

This error message indicates your ISP blocks the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default/common port used by SMTP servers. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
Are you also accessing an email account with the Mail.app that is provided by Cox and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
    Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't resolve it and you aren't accessing your Cox email account with the Mail.app, you need to create your Cox email account in Mail or at least add Cox's SMTP server and select/use Cox's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

  • Old but new Q: Cannot send email from Mac Mail application but computer tells me I'm online

I know this is an "old" issue for many, but I cannot find the solution to my problem.
A couple of months ago I moved to a new flat--suddenly I could not send emails anymore from my Mac Mail app, although I could receive them. I called Comcast, my Internet provider, who said it was my email server's problem. My email server is icloud, so I talked to a Mac tech guy who did remote desktop troubleshooting and said everything was set up correctly, etc., so I will have to talk to Comcast again. I called Comcast again and they told me again, it is not their issue.
So this is what happens: When I try to send an email, I get the spinning circle in the mailbox bar, and then it tells me after five minutes of spinning that icloud is offline. However, when I do a further check of the diagnostics, the light is green and says that yes, in fact I am connected/online. Note: I can send and receive fine on webmail, but I do not want to keep using webmail at home. It is very inconvenient.
I called Mac support again, and they told me I should find my solution online; otherwise, I can pay $20 to have someone remotely troubleshoot for me. Of course, I could not find the answer online. I am quite frustrated and annoyed at this point. Is it a port issue? Is it an OS issue? Mind you, I only have this problem at home, nowhere else. I take my laptop to a café, to a friend's place--I can send emails just fine. This leads me to believe that it's a Comcast issue, although they deny it.
Any thoughts would be deeply, deeply appreciated! Thank you!!

How about some free much-needed advice on how I can
    start receiving emails again!
This indicates you were able to receive email with
your Verizon account previously with the Mail.app?
If so, try running Keychain First Aid on your login
    Keychain.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=151548
    Open Keychain Access, located in
    Applications/Utilities.
Choose Window > Keychain First Aid.
Select your login Keychain, enter your password,
    select Repair and then Start.
This is Trevor from the first post and I figured it out:
Go into mail - preferences - and delete the email account in question - the window will tell you that you'll lose all your saved mail, etc - you can save it if you like.
Then click on yes and you create a new mail account using your same incoming/outgoing settings. And, like magic, it works!
Try it - and if you want to save any mail before deleting your affected account, do it.
    All the best!

  • Mac mail cant send email

my mac mail rejects the ISP Cox providers server when we go to send email. We can receive email just fine.  I have deleted and re-input all the correct incoming and outgoing server info and still not able to send email

my outgoing settings are smtp.cox.net.  I also noticed with my new laptop, which is windows based, it cannot send emails on the cox isp network either. Cox insists it is not their firewall or network as we can receive email fine. thanks for your interest.
That is the name of the server, it is not the settings for the server, those are linked to below, if your settings are different your mail won't work correctly

  • Mac mail sending messages to people not on distribution

When sending a reply to a mac mail message that originally had several people in the distribution the reply message will send to everyone in the distribution even if you manually take out an address from the message you are sending out.

In have a similar problem. I consistently request that names of all people on send list to NOT be shown to individual addressees, but consistenly are sent all the names.  Can this be corrected?

  • Send button- bad idea

Whose stupid and counter intative (I would say annoyiong and thoughtless) idea was it to place the Send button on the new iCloud mail app on the OPPOSITE side of where it was befre and where it still is in Mac Mail (OSX) program?  Why on Earth move it- it has always been compose your message; click upper left to send. I see no reason to change it other than Apple thumbing its nose at the world.
    Can anyone here explain?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Make sure that the Mail window is fully expanded left to right. If you look to the far right look for two chevrons ">>" this may indicate your window is slightly collapsed and hiding some of your buttons.
If there are no chevrons and you can't change the tool bar try dumping the caches:
Remove Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.mail to the trash and re-launch Mail.
If that does not resolve the issue then the only other thing I can think to do is to try reseting Mail to it's factory settings:
    1. Copy down your Mail account settings
    2. Quit Mail (Mail > Quit Mail)
    3. Remove the following to the desktop:
    Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.mail
Your User > Library > Mail and Mail Downloads
Your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail (there may be more than one. remove them all)
    4. Launch Mail and re-configure it. --- You should have your buttons at this point.
    Hope that helps.

  • No Send Button on Reply!

I have Mail 3.5 (930.3) and it works great!
but: the Send button is gone when I choose reply. It's just not on the screen.
I have to forward the message now when I want to reply.
I looked everywhere I can to see if it is a configuration item. No Luck.
I upgraded to the latest OS update. Loaded the new iLife 09.
    Any suggestions?

    wross10,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Open a new "Reply" message and right click on the toolbar to reveal a "Customize Toolbar... choice. That will allow you to add the "Send" icon. Drag the "Send" icon to the toolbar.
The "Send" icon should remain on subsequent "Reply" messages.
