The setting for iPad cover lock/unlock is in settings > general for iPad 2.
The iPad 2 and new iPad if both are using iOS 5.x or later the setting exist in settings > general.
So, if you worked at an apple store I think you should have known that the setting exist.
You are right, a hard reset (force restart) should only be used if iOS device is unresponsive or apps crashing...etc.
But, a simple restart helps as well.

I have subscribed to itunes match. How do I get the songs from my iphone 5 into my itunes library which currrently only shows the songs I have purchased? I can see the songs on my iphone when I plug it into itunes on my computer, but don' know how to get them into the library.Lots of the songs on my iphone were taken from CD's years ago which is why I thought itunes match would help.I want to make the songs on my phone's itunes available to my husbands iphone and to my ipad as well. If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

Every time I try and open up my itunes it will get stuck on lode. I am not able to click on anything or close down the page. I have to restart my computer. I have a new ipod and can't even get my music on it or watch my movies! what is going on?

Just bought a new mac mini, wireless keyboard, and track pad. My track pad will not synch. All advise I have been given is to change items in the setting menu, but I cant because I still have to get through the setup!!
The power button for the Trackpad is on the right hand end of the battery case. Press that button to initiate the pairing process. On the top of the Trackpad just above the power button is a tiny green light (you probably cannot see it unless it is lighted). That light will indicate ehther or not the Trackpad is discoverable. If the Trackpad has discoverable the green light will blink on and off. If it does not pair within 3 minutes you will have to press the power button again to re-initiate the pairing process. Once your Trackpad has paired, you can just leave it on and it will pair automatically when you reboot your Mac.
If you are having problems pairing, try turning off any other Bluetooth devices within 30 or so feet of your Mac mini. That includes other Computers, iPhones, iPads, etc. that may be in the area. Once your Trackpad has pairedwith your mini, you don't have to be concerned about other Bluetooth devices.
One other hint, I find that although the Wireless Trackpad does not eat batteries as fast as the Magic Mouse it still uses more than the Wireless Keyboard. It is a good idea to keep a supply of AA batteries around. I have used Apple's Rechargable batteries, but found they did not last that long before needing to be recharged. I have had the best battery life from Duracell Quantum batteries. -

Is there a sim in the iPhone?
Is the iPhone jailbroken or modified to work with other than the original
wireless provider?
Have any of the beta versions of iOS 7 been installed on the iPhone?

My new mags won't download even though my subscriptions are up to date. After 2 weeks of frustration I still am clueless. Can anyone help? I am set to automatic uploads when new mags are available and still nothing. So frustrating when I have paid for them.
Maybe you do not have enough space on iPad.

Songs in music library downloaded from a CD and synced to my old IPOD are not recognized by my new IPOD classic. What is the fix?
If you are using automatic syncing with your old iPod, select that iPod in iTunes and go to its Music tab (next to Summary). Note how this Music tab is set up. Maybe you can do a screen shot.
Now, select the new iPod in iTunes. Go to its Music tab, like you did for the old iPod. Set up the new iPod's Music tab exactly like the old iPod, and Apply the change.
The music on your new iPod should now match the old iPod. -
New apple user, just got new iPod touch gen 5 and there is no App Store on it. Restored it twice and this does nothing. What do I do, help please :(
Has it been disabled via Settings -> General -> Restrictions?
I assume you have checked other pages of apps by swiping to the left from the home screen?

Just got a new iPod Nano 7gen. Have downloaded and installed iTunes 10.7 and installed succesfully. But iTunes fails when I try to start the program. Have OS X 10.8.2. Moutain Lion. Please help - thanks.
SvenProblem solved. Copied latest file of iTunes Library.itl from Previous iTunes Libraries and replaced it with the original in Music - iTunes-folder.

HELP, new ipod shuts down computer in the middle of updating.........
We have a new ipod, that when I connect to our computer, begins the downloading process but shuts down our whole system half way through. Anybody know what is happening. I have tried everything I know how to do, but this only happens when I connect the new ipod. I've even exchanged the ipod, but the same result. I've tried to reinstall the software, but I think I've got a mess now. Any ideas?
First do some scanning. Scan the system with your antivirus program. Scan the system with a malware program like ewido http://www.ewido.com. Use windows chkdsk to scan the system and the registry (if you need help with this just say so)
Goto the PC makers site and install all the updates for your system, especailly BIOs Chipset IDE controller and USB updates. -
With the new safari update (7.0.3), the full screen option has stopped working...please help.
I updated Safari and now the full screen option will not work. It's one of my favorite features. I have tried going to View -> Enter Full Screen and that doesn't work.
Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Click "Reset".
Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.

My iMac will not connect to Photo Stream, but all my other devices will. i have all updates.
My brand new, 2.7 GHz intel Core i5 will not connect to Photo stream, no matter what I do.
