System Preferences > Mouse -- deselect "Scroll direction: natural." Do the same for the trackpad > Scroll & Zoom preference.

My Track Pad on my MBA has lost it's Mechanical Click, does anyone have a solution?

Debris is stuck in the mechanism, or the battery is expanding and has to be replaced.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

  • Track pad on macbook pro 2010 can click but no response

    Hi.
I have a macbook pro late 2010 model. Suddenly the mouce tracp won't work. I does everything I ask it to and even click. But when I click nothing happens. Anyone know how to fix this? I have tried screw thing behind the battery trick but that only helps if the track doesn't click at all. Help please!

Have you tried it with a mouse to see if that works? If it works with a mouse, it may be a trackpad hardware issue. You can take it to an Appple Genius bar for a FREE evaluation.

  • Deleting itunes tracks that I purchased but didn't download properly and have no known file

I purchased a new album and I had to leave for work shortly after it started downloading, so I just left my computer on to finish. It should have only taken a couple minutes to download. When I came home, only a few of the 18 tracks downloaded. The rest had the ! next to it in the faded grey and had to source file. I couldn't redownload it from iTunes as it said it was already on my computer. I updated my laptop with my purchases and then copied the songs that were missed from my laptop to my desktop. It's all good there now, but now I have a bunch of tracks on my iTunes that will not play, have no file location, and they will not delete. They are unchecked and when I right click on them to delete them, they just won't. How do I remove these tracks?

I don't use smart playlists (don't even know what they are actually). I'm just trying to delete them from my main music library. Here's a screenshot of what I'm  looking at. Right clicking and selecting delete does nothing. The shift delete does nothing. When I go to get info and select file info, it has nothing for file location. Any suggestions?

  • My macbook isn't powering up and makes a beeping noise in time with the sleep light

Hi There I hope someone can help!!!
I had disconnected the power cable and left the MacBook in sleep mode with the lid shut. When I now go to open my MacBook up, and wait for my system to resume from where I left off the screen doesn't on and the sleep light goes off. when I close the lid the sleep light goes back on as if it is in sleep mode but the same happens when I open it again, no power to the screen.
I order to try get my MacBook working again I tried holding down the power button and switching it back on again but the MacBook now looks as if it is going to power up but the sleep light comes on for about 3 secs and then beeps, then every 4-5 secs constantly the MacBook beeps once in time with the sleep light (to note the sleep light is not following its usual fade on fade off rhythm).
I have tried resetting the SMC using the shift command control option and power button (also this is the only way to stop the beeping and flashing) and when you try and switch on the MacBook if you just press the power button it just follows the same beep with sleep light routine, but if you hold the power button in then the sleep light then flashes quickly about 4-6 times and then starts to beep in time with the flash again.
I will also add I have not reconfigured anything or added any RAM to my MacBook it is still on the standard (manufacturing) configuration as I have been looking about for anyone with similar issues and the main question back seems to be have you changed the RAM, I have also tried resetting teh RAM and the proble still persists.
If someone can help it would be awesome!

  • Swap a track pad to a mutitouch pad

    Hi.
I have just bought a mac book. Its my first mac and love it.
Its an early 2009 model. Its in perfect condition all but the track pad it worn and not working right.
Is it posable to replace the top cover or just the track pad for a new multi touch touchpad.
    Thank you.

Send it in because the trackpad is too sensitive?
I can see sending it in if it didn't WORK or maybe if there were a big crack down the center of it. But I really don't see what they'll either be able or willing to do when we're really talking about a simple matter of allowing oneself time to either get used to the way the thing works or to "break in" the trackpad (so to speak).
Mine was sensitive as well (as has been the case with every iBook I have had) and I got used to using my fingers on it. I also think that it's a case of the finish on new trackpads. It will "wear in" as you use it.
Sending it in, I'm afraid, would be a waste of your time as well as those at the service center.

  • Magic Track Pad blues

A problem with my magic track pad, bad enough that I regret buying it. Sometimes a mere brush will send the cursor across the screen, other times it turns everything blue, text and pictures, as the cursor is moved across the screen. This isn't selecting, as the blueness doesn't select for copying. But it stops the cursor doing most everything else. To get rid of it requires a firm left click, and only with the cursor over to the left of the screen.
There's nothing in the help file or the System Prefs trackpad about this blueing.
What causes the blueing, does it have any function? So far no function seems to be attached to the blueness, despite it looking just like selection.

other times it turns everything blue, text and pictures, as the cursor is moved across the screen.
Probably you're inadvertently touching the trackpad with three fingers; this comes from the "dragging" setting for three fingers in the Magic Trackpad setting.
This isn't selecting, as the blueness doesn't select for copying.
Actually it is, unless there's something wrong with your trackpad. If after selecting you press command-c, it will copy the selection to the clipboard.
If this behavior is a problem for you, uncheck the box under "Three fingers" and it will stop (unless, again, there's something defective).
    Regards.

  • My brand new iMac track pad reverted to a system preference option that doesn't allow gestures to work or be restored, any suggestions?

I purchased a brand new IMac 21 inch a few weeks ago and restored it to my macbook pro.  A few days later the gestures on the track pad stopped working.  After listening to the advice of apple support and wasting a number of hours without success, I decided to restore the computer to new and start fresh.  The outcome was the track pad worked just fine.  I noticed the system preferences track pad choice provided options that I didn't have before.  All worked fine and of course from their I migrated apps and documents from my time machine.  a few days later I plugged my ipod in and noticed the track pad was not working.
Having spent another two hours with apple support, they concluded they would call me back as they agreed that the system preferences setup for the trackpad had reverted to an older version.
I am not certain if migrating the apps folder had anything to do with this and am waiting to hear back.  I am tempted to restore the machine to new again and see if that restores the track pad system preferences.  If it does I will avoid migrating any files to see how long the track pad works.  I have my docs, photos, and other critical folders backed up individually on a separate drive.  Let me know if anyone has experienced a similar problem.  Thanks!

Have you tried all of these?
    1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
    2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
    3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
    4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
    5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
    6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
    7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

  • Flush MBP Track Pad

I have a track pad that is flush on the top left and its a little lower on the top right is this normal?

Let me rephrase this. I have a Mac Book Pro 17inch that has a track pad that is flush on the top left and is a little lower on the top right. I am wondering if this is normal and or if over time the top left would become higher than to unibody over time.

  • HT3288 my track pad is jumping around all the time and constantly clicking i tried updating the firmware but the computer states all is up to date, the probleme comes and goes and I'm not shire what triggers it

my track pad will sudenly start jumping around the screen and clicking very rapidly, since te problem began it operates diferently from normal when ever it apears to be working correctly, specificly i can no longer grab items without removing the tracking finger from the pad before clicking to grab an item, if i do not it will procede as if i double cliked somthing, conversly if i disable the two finger tap double click i am unable to double click anything, sometimes whilst apearing to funtion normally it will scroll from side to side if i do not remove my thumb from the bottom of the pad, again these are during the rare instances its not jumping about  the screen cliking, and reaking havoc on what ever im working on any help would be apreciated thanks.

You have some type of hardware problem. More then likely the battery is swelling and putting presure on the trackpad. The only thing to do is take to Apple and have them check it all out, replacing any parts that are needed.

  • Track pad won't release after dragging

My magic trackpad has developed a problem.  Whenever I try to drag something, either a window, or a graphic in Photoshop, trackpad refuses to let go.  I suspect this has been slowly worsening.  pressing the button on the side of the trackpad sometimes fixes this but sometimes it doesn't. Is this a hardware or a software issue?  Any suggestions on ways of correcting this?

I haver run macKeeper to see if this is a virus or trojan and apparently its not.
    Do not install MacKeeper
I can select an image or multiple images from the desk top but the track pad won't release them when i try and click to drop them.
Create a new user account and log into it, does the problem continue?
If so, then take it to Apple your battery is likely swellling.

  • Track pad won't stop scrolling

I have a BlackBerry Curve 9300 about 2 years old. Running OS6. This weekend I started having problems with the track pad. After cleaning it, several battery pulls and trying some other "fixes", my track pahd will not stop scrolling on it's own. Any thougts on what I can try?? Had to revert to my 8310 to get by......

    Hey (kbeaudry74,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest going through all the steps in this KB article and if the scrolling still doesn't stop it might be hardware related and I suggest contacting your network service provider for repair options.
