My videos uploaded on to iPhoto are gone! And I had deleted them from my iPhone thinking they were okay since they were in my library. How do I get them back?

I uploaded videos from my iphone to iphoto. iPhoto then asked me if I wanted to keep or delete videos on my iPhone. I said delete, thinking my videos were now safely uploaded on to iPhoto. I then ejected my iPhone and began uploading a video from my sister's iPhone on to iPhoto. I clicked import selected and iPhoto said it was finishing import. I gave it a minute and tried importing again. I got the same message. I assumed it was still importing my sister's photos to be selected so I restarted my computer, in order to start over. When my computer came back on all of the videos were gone. I tried repairing library and that didn't work. iPhoto keeps asking me to select a library and I can see my original library there but when I click import it won't do anything. I created a new library and tried repairing from there. It did not work.
What can I do? These videos were priceless.
Thank you in advance.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. How many libraries are listed in the resulting window?

Log into icloud.com and then click on the Contacts icon.  If the list is empty, then it's gone.

DVDs are encoded into MPEG2, which iMovie cannot edit. So you need to convert the DVD back to something else. For highest quality, I recommend that you convert the DVD to Apple Intermediate Codec. There is a free tool called MPEG Streamclip that will do this. You will also need to install the Apple QuickTIme MPEG2 Playback Component.
    Here are the details.
    1) Download and install the Apple MPEG2 QuickTime Component ($20) - available online from Apple.
    2) Download and install MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
    3) Start MPEG Streamclip
    4) Insert your DVD into your Mac. If DVD Player or Front Row starts automatically quit those.
    5) Open a Finder window. Navigate to your DVD to the Video_TS folder.
    6) Drag the .VOB files from the Video_TS folder and drop then into MPEG Streamclip.
    7) If MPEG Streamclip offers to fix timecode breaks, say yes.
    8) Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
9a) Optional: You can deinterlace your footage in this step, if you like
9b) optional: If you know the date and or time of the footage, name your file
    clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
(let mpeg streamclip provide the extension). This will provide metadata that iMovie will use to put the event in the right year and month.
9c) Optional: If you don't want to make one huge clip out of your DVD, you can make smaller clips by using MPEG Streamclip. Move the cursor to the "in" point of the clip, and press i. Move the cursor to the "Out" point of the clip, and press o. Then do steps 8 through 10 and repeat until you have done this for all clips you want.
    10) Save the resulting file in a place where you can find it, like your Desktop.
    11) Open iMovie.
    12) In iMovie, choose FILE/IMPORT/From File and choose the file you saved in steps 8, 9, 10.
    13) iMovie will generate thumbnails and you can edit.

Welcome to the Apple Community Diane.
I find that shared video can be troublesome, a few haven't appeared to work as you describe but have done when I've looked at a later date. Hopefully they will work if you give them a bit longer. perhaps it would be a good idea if you make sure they are working before deleting them from the camera roll.

They aren't there because you didn't transfer them.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

In future do not rely upon being able to download again.  The policy could be discontinued without notice and then you'd be in a mess.  Even now you still can't redownload everything.  Transfer properly next time and make backups.

I just noticed all my calendars over a year old have been erased. They used to be there. How do I get them back?

Not sure if this will help, but if you are syncing your calendar with iCloud try going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars section and tap Sync, then select All Events.

  • There are unsynced songs in my library, how do I get them on my device?

We had a problem with this library and had to delete it and open it in a new location.  It works great now, all of the songs appear in the library, they all play on the computer, but they will not sync to an iphone or ipad.  None of them have exclamation points, like before.  I have checked "entire music library" when syncing.  There is plenty of room on both devices.  The sync appears to go fine.  About 70 songs just never move over.  Many of these were itunes downloads, some were uploaded directly into iTunes from a CD.  There is no point in re-downloading them, they appear in the library, just not on a device.
    What is going on?
Home computer is Windows 7 professional, always has been.  This is a new problem. iPhone is a 3, but has always synced fine in the past.  iPad is 2nd generation, but same thing, always worked before.

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

  • I have lost my music videos they are not in my library how do i get them back

This is doing my head in as i purchased these videos. is it something to do with sync my phone. does it mean i have to buy them again. !!!!!

Check iTunes / Preferences - Devices on your computer. If you created a backup, you'll see it in the list there.
If not, according to Apple, from the iTunes Help menu...
"It’s important to make backups of your purchases from the iTunes Store. If you lose a purchased item for any reason and haven’t backed it up, you’ll have to buy it again."
So, in the future, follow the instructions here for backing up your iTunes purchases.
    Backup iPhone
    And backup iTunes media.

  • When I put images from my digital camera to iphoto they register as jpegs with only 72 dpi. How can I get them to be 300dpi?

    I have a mac osx 10.6.8. iphoto 11 version 9.2.3.
My camera is a Canon Power Shot SX700HS.
I want to send high res. photos to a company who require 700dpi.
When I attach my camera to my mac they turn into jpgs and then
when I try to send them by email they come in at 72dpi.
Can anyone advise me on the best way to send these photos?

I notice that images on Image Capture come in at 180dpi.
180 dpi isn't terrible, but defined edges that aren't perfectly vertical or horizontal will show jaggy pixel stepping. Not real obvious, but you'd see it. Overall, the picture would have a slightly pixelated look at that resolution.
The maximum size picture your camera can take is 4608 x 3456 pixels. If you set the resolution to 300 dpi, that makes it 11.52" x 15.36". So without scaling/resampling the image up to keep it at the vendor required output resolution of 300 dpi to get larger sizes than that, your camera is best for 11" x 14" images or smaller.
Whatever image editor you use to size your images, you need to finalize them at 300 dpi, which is what your service requires. If you were to send them for example an image sized to 16"x20" at 120 dpi, what their system will automatically do is scale the image to 300 dpi before printing it, which will cause pretty noticeable softening and pixelation on the final print.
For that camera, it makes more sense that it comes off the camera as 180 dpi. That must have been Mail that was scaling them down to 72 dpi what added as an attachment.
So how do you change the resolution? One way is with Preview. Here I'm working with a test image to show the difference in what happens depending on how you size it. I've purposely changed this image from it's original 300 dpi setting to 120.
Open the image and choose Tools > Adjust Size.
This image is 1816 × 1419 pixels. At 120 dpi, that makes it 15.13" x 11.83". If I reset the resolution to 300 dpi, not resample, the size changes to 6.05" x 4.73". It does that because I turned Resample image off. When you do that, the image doesn't physically change one bit. It still has the same number of pixels in the height and width it started with. All you've done in such a case is tell the output device to use 300 of the pixels per inch instead of 120. Since you're using more of the same original number of pixels in less space, it becomes effectively smaller.
Now let's say I want this image to be output large enough for an 11" x 14" print, but also need it to be 300 dpi for the vendor. To do that, I need to resample it.
There isn't enough pixel information in the image to do that without resampling up. Or said another way, adding more pixels than existed to begin with. Notice the scale percentage is 232.6, which directly translates to adding over twice as many pixels to the image (232.6 percent) as it started with in order to achieve 300 dpi at 11" x 14". Notice too of course that the size of the file will go from 7.8 MB to 55.7 MB (sizes are normally displayed as how it would be for an uncompressed format such as TIFF). The image will now have 4223 x 3300 pixels instead of its original 1816 × 1419. Such large resampling going up also makes most images soft and pixelated looking. Though since CS6, Adobe drastically changed the scaling algorithm. Larger up-sampling of images is much better than it used to be. You can scale most images up quite a ways before they start looking really bad.
I know this is a lot. Hopefully, not too confusing.

There are sites like Amazon, Facebook and pages where I need to put info like name, address, etc, that don't show where 'next' or 'skip' or 'continue' are. There is just alot of space. When I move my cursor around I have to guess if it's the right one and click

  • All my burnt songs ahve gone. how can i get them back?

I burnt nearly 1000 songs to my iTunes account to make space in house, but since last week they are no longer in my library. how can I get them back as I no longer have the cd's.

First it would be helpful to get more info. Do you keep your music in the default location inside the iTunes folder? Do you use iTunes to keep it organized? Do you have any type of backup of either the iTunes Library files or your entire Music folder? Before reinstalling anything, check that your actual music files are still there. Go to your_homefolder/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music and I am pretty sure that all your files are still there. iTunes keeps its library file on the root level of the iTunes folder. It is either corrupted or you somehow created a new one which subsequently is empty. Hold down the option while you click on iTunes, then choose "existing library" and browse to your iTunes folder and select the iTunes Library file and see what happens. Report back if your iTunes Library file is corrupt.

  • I am new to IPhoto 9.5  and I think I missed a step. I uploaded pictures but they do not appear as an event in my library.  They are in Last imported only. How can I get them into event.

I am new to IPhoto 9.51  and I think I missed a step when I uploaded my vacation pictures. I uploaded pictures but did not import them into the library.  They are in L\last imported only.  How can I get them into events?

If the Photos are under 'Last Import' or 'Last N Months' then they are in the Library somewhere, just not where you are expecting them to be. We know this as both Last Import and 'Last N Months' are not places, just listings of elements in the the Library.
The two most common reasons that they can't be found is either an incorrect date on the camera or the Sorting (View Menu -> Sort Photos - or Sort Events, as appropriate) has changed.
Quick route to find them: Right-click on one of the images in Last Import and select 'Show Event'. This will bring you to the image in the Library.
