My wife wants my music on her iphone, how do I sync her phone with my itunes library without her losing all of her contacts?
My wife wants my music on her iphone, i am worried about syncing her phone to my itunes and her losing all of her contacts. Should I not be worried? How should I proceed?
She should not sync her phone to a different iTunes library. Once solution is to set up Home Sharing, then in iTunes on her computer drag and drop the music from your library to hers. Then she can sync this music from her own iTunes library to her phone. (She will need to authorize her computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase any purchased music in order to sync it to her phone.) The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?
If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

My Iphone was sync with Itunes on a computer then this computer broke down and i purchased another one. I was able to extract all the data from the old one. now how can i sync my phone with the new tunes without loosing any data?

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

How do I sync my music from my iphone to my mac when I have created a itunes library on my old Hewitt packard computer?
Thought by connecting my phone to computer it would automatically duplicate. Only seems to work with a small amount of music which I downloaded through my mac
Im no expert with computers so need some step by step advice
I have over 1000 songs on my iphone and want to back it up on my mac itunes
Want to upgrade my iphone and dont want to loose my music and ideally want to import it onto my new iphone
Need help?Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
I have updated my iPhone 3Gs to the latest software in an attempt to iron out a problem with a new telephone network provider (Tmobile). I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download from iTunes as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available to re-download although it all shows up on my Mac. The music and app content cannot be restored when I try to restore the phone from the back up I madeon my Mac. Help!
Working on that now. I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage. Now I will once again get to spend hours reloading my phone all for updates that didn't affect my usage in the first place.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
I have a new computer and want to sync my iPhone/iTunes. But it wants to wipe out what is already on my phone with another iTunes library. How do I find out what is in the "library" before I say yes to wipe out my phone and sync?

Becasue that is the way the ****** iphone is designed.
You can only sync with one ******computer.
There is nothing to ****** fix.
It is the ****** design of the iphone. It is ****** by design. -
cannot sync my iphone5 with my itunes library on wifi . I am using window7 version on my laptop
I've not read anything that suggests that iTunes Match considers the computer used to subscribe to be any different than any other computers that are later set up on the account (by using the same Apple ID to add them to iTunes Match).
I've associated three computers with iTunes match, each with their own unique libary. All of those libraries were merged by iTunes match. Moreover, Apple states that any of the computers can be used to delete songs from the cloud.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4915
To delete an item from iCloud in iTunes
From a computer with iTunes Match enabled, open iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your computer. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Click Music on the left side of iTunes.
Select the item you would like to delete. Right-click the item and then choose Delete.
You will be asked to confirm this action.
If the item you want to delete exists in iTunes on your computer as well as in iCloud, click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud. -
After moving my itunes library from my old WinXP computer to my new Win7 computer, itunes gives a warning that my content on my phone must be removed and re-synced. I want to merge changes/updates on my phone with my itunes library as normal, not erase it & replace it. My updates/changes will be lost.
How do I merge content on my iPhone & content in iTunes together?Hopefully you still have the original library and can redo the migration...
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

I upgraded to the latest IOS update for iPhone 3G, and have since then not been able to sync my phone to my iTunes library. Can anyone help me fix this?
Hi, hoopsnut34.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common cause for the screen not rotating would be the Screen Rotation Lock button is enabled. Here are the steps on how to disable this feature.

I have deleted certain purchased songs from my iphone, but everytime i sync my phone with my computer it adds them back. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
It sounds like you and your husband are sharing an Apple ID, a version of iTunes on your computer, or both.
I recommend you share neither your Apple ID nor your version of iTunes. You can still share music by using Store > Authorize this computer and enter your spouse's information. But it sounds llike this sharing is the cause of your problem. -
How do I sync my iPad with my iTunes without it trying to put my iPod apps on the iPad? I don't want to make separate accounts because then the apps that I want on both would have to be paid for twice.
No, they won't. Just create a second profile in iTunes for the iPad. You can then select only what you want synced to it completely separate from your iPod.
