MyFaces anyone?

Now that reef-shark, with it's promise of easier external component importing, has been out a few weeks, anyone been able to get the myfaces (specifically, upload) working with JSC?

I think you will find that using Myfaces requires their libraries to replace the sun ones, so you probably won't see that happen, probably won't even work.
There are other options for upload, I have put a servlet example on this forum, and I have also got the Oracle ADF upload working.

  • Anyone using facelets with ADF Faces and myfaces implementation?

    There is a Howto document for using facelets with ADF Faces, but it assumes you're using Sun's RI. I'd like to use the Apache myfaces implementation of JSF with ADF and facelets, but I keep getting a NoSuchElementException thrown when the pages are accessed.

    I followed Adam Winer's instructions for incorporating ADF with facelets (using Sun's RI) and this works fine. But when I try to swap out the Sun RI for the Apache myfaces 1.1.1 implementation I get the exception.

    It doesn't seem to matter whether I use <jsp:root xmlns..> tags or <html xmlns ..> tags or whether I use the facelet ui tags or not. I've tried it with several of the ADF components. I always get the pretty facelets exception at the bottom of the page after the ADF component displays.
    Am I missing something? Has anyone gotten these three (ADF w/ myfaces impl and facelets) to work together properly?

    Hi,
    It is supposed to work fine and is working okay, in general, for me. I was setting up a test app yesterday and logged the steps in my blog (http://www.jroller.com/page/mjdenham). I think I logged everything.

  • MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering

    I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
    By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
    After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
    Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

  • MyFaces on OC4J 10.1.2.0.2 - JspParseException

    I just completed an application and it works fine at my test server (Win2003).

    I have another application running fine at this server - using the same technology, but older versions (MyFaces 1.1.1 vs. 1.1.3, Tomahawk 1.1.1 vs. 1.1.2).
    I'm stuck - could anybody push me out?
    thx

    Has anyone had any luck with this yet? I'm running into a similar situation with a webapp using Tomahawk 1.1.3 on OC4J 9.0.4. The web browser returns the following exception:
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: Line # 2, <%@ taglib uri="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" prefix="t" %>

    The funny thing in my case is that the application works like a champ on 10.1.2 and also on my local instance of 9.0.4 standalone. My mind is sufficiently boggled.

  • Error on using MyFaces component

    Hy all,
    I don't know if someone as already tested to work with JSF and MyFaces on its WebAS.
    In fact I've started by developping a simple JSF page
    and next I would like to add some sweet component  by using MyFaces and Tomawakh.
    For the JSF page, no problem, it rulez, but, when I <b>just</b> add "myfaces-api-1.1.3.jar" and
    "my-faces-impl-1.1.3.jar" and deploy it to my server.
    No error during deploying but when I'm trying to open a

    I mean, in each JSP page I'm trying to use those standard taglib :
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
    It crashes.
    I've try to add in my web-inf/lib some jar like : servlet_api.jar, servlet.jar, and so on but nothing seam to be working.
    I've also try to define the extensionFilter of myfaces in my web.xml but it doesn't help me
    Anyone has an idea ? I'll give reward
    Thx.

    Hy,
    try do do this:
    1) extract the JSF Tag-Lib's from the Jar-File in a folder under the WebContent folder (in my example named as "tld")
    2) Add some TagLib- Entries in the WEB.XML like this:
    <taglib>
       <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jsf/core</taglib-uri>
       <taglib-location>tld/jsf_core.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
      <taglib>
       <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jsf/html</taglib-uri>
       <taglib-location>tld/html_basic.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    <taglib-uri> ist the URL that you use in the JSF Pages and <taglib-location> is the location of the expanded Tag-Libary.
    The example above ist based on the Sun-Faces components but it works in the same way for Myfaces oder for the Oracle ADF faces.
    Instead of the both Jar's myFaces-api and mafaces-imp I have use the myfaces-all.jar.
    I hope this informatin will help you.

  • Getting MyFaces jsCookMenu to work in JDEV?

    I am trying to get the MyFaces jsCookMenu to work in Jdev but it keeps generating a blank page in the browser (view source shows the div and javascripts are there and I get no errors). My source is as follows, any suggestions appreciated:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:x="http://myfaces.apache.org/extensions">

    doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"/>
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>

    </x:jscookMenu>
    </body>
    </html>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    The jscookmenu directory (and contents) are in my public_html directory and myfaces-extensions.jar is in WEB-INF/lib

    Poking around recommendations for installing MyFaces in other IDEs I figured out I should copy commons-fileupload-1.0.jar into WEB-INF/lib and add the following to my web.xml:
    <!-- Extensions Filter -->

            <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>Unfortunately the last filter-mapping above appears to mess up the modal dialog capability in ADF (all modal dialogs contain only <HTML><BODY></BODY><HTML>).
    Also I still could not get the actions defined on my <x:jscookMenu> entries to fire (the form is submitted and the page reloads but the action functions are never invoked nor do any navigation rules fire).
    Can anyone recommend another set of menu components they have used successfully with ADF Faces?

  • h:form problem with myfaces 1.1.4

    Hi,
    I have a jsf page whose body is wrapped by tag <h:form>. This seems to be necessary with myfaces 1.1.4.
    My page contains:
    1 - A "sign out" commandLink which simply logs out current logged user
    2 - an inputText tag, bound to a validation method of a backinbg bean, that verifies if inserted text is a valid email or not.
    When I insert an invalid email address in the input text and press "sign out", the "email address not valid" message it's showed, and signout performs only when I insert a valid address!
    This is not good, as signiing out must not have any relation with form validation.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Pietro

    A form is required around any input and command components (ones that need a HTML form rendered to the client). You can have multiple forms per page.
    When the user does something that submits the page, only the surounding form is actually submitted. So in your example you want to use seperate forms for the logout link and the email input.
    So for example:
    <h:form id="logoutForm">
       ... logout link here ...
    </h:form>
    <h:form id="emailForm">
    ... email input stuff here ...
    </h:form>

    Yea i solved the problem. I mean at least i know what is the problem :) As you said richfaces 3.2.0 is not working with jsf 1.1. Richfaces 3.1.6 works fine with it. But the funny thing is there is no file upload component in 3.1.6 version :) So, i am using myfaces.

  • ADF , MyFaces problem

    Anyone help me on this, Please.
    I got an Error org.apache.myfaces.application.ApplicationImpl - Undefined component type oracle.adf.CoreCommandButton.
    Is there any web.xml that I can follow to make ADF work with Myfaces?
    Thanks

    You need to use at least MyFaces 1.0.8:

  • What's the relationship between JSF api, JSFRI, Myfaces API, Myfaces impl

    JSF RI is an implementation of JSF reference, so is Myfaces impl, right?
    i just confused about the two APIs, could anyone explain it for me.
    thanks!

    JSF is a specification.
    Sun Mojarra is an implementation of the JSF specification.
    Sun JSF RI (Reference Implementation) is an old name of Mojarra, used up to 1.2_07.
    Apache MyFaces is another implementation of the JSF specification.
    You cannot mix multiple implementations with each other. You can however add any component library to your taste on top of a JSF implementation, e.g. Apache Tomahawk, JBoss RichFaces, IceFaces, etcetera.

  • Help me out to get the jar files for FileUpload using MyFaces.

    hi,
    Can anyone help to get the jar files for FileUpload using MyFaces.
    I want myfaces-extensions.jar and commons-fileupload-1.0.jar.
    Thank you.

    you can't control the speed of a for-loop.
    you can remove your code from a for-loop and use a function to execute the code in your for-loop and you control how frequently you call the function.

  • JSF, MyFaces and accessibility

    Apologies for this question which seems like it really ought to be a matter for Google - I've looked but not found much of use.
    Does anyone have any links or resources which discuss providing accessibilty when implementing a JSF/MyFaces site? I've really only just picked up JSF so my knowledge is far from in-depth; at the moment I'm looking more for a high level appraisal of how accessible JSF pages can be made (and how expensive it is to achieve that) than the details of actually how to do it.
    Essentially I'd like to know whether the adoption of JSF and MyFaces is going to lead to a major headache in this regard. Similar information regarding standards compliance would be a bonus.
    Thanks.

    My understanding is that JSF specification is compatible with accessibility guidelines but I would like to point that JSF is a specification not an implementation.
    Having said that, AJAX and most of the implementation sout there today are NOT compatible with accessibility guidelines.
    I believe that WCAG 1.0 says any javascript != accessiblity while WCAG 2.0 has backed off a bit. Point being most RIA applications are not accessible.
    Since I have never desiged an accessible site I cannot speak to all of the difficulties. Like I said you would have to look at the JSF implementation you were using for additional details, I assume core JSF is compatible with accessibility guidelines.

  • MyFaces'  JspTilesViewHandlerImpl   &   dynamic component rendering

    Hi,
    First -- if you're on the myfaces user list, this is a repeat post. Skip!
    Second, I don't mean to offend the RI dev guys with this myfaces post!
    Has anyone dynamically rendered JSF components while using myfaces JspTilesViewHandlerImpl view handler?
    I have a WebGalileoFaces tabbed panel component. Its listener attaches sub-tabs to it dynamically. The rendering works without using the view handler above. Yet, when I use the myfaces handler, I get an NPE. My listener impl is below.
    The view handler appears to cut off access to the actual UIViewRoot so the form cannot be found. Ive tried a couple calls directly to the handler using context.getApplication().getViewHandler() yet, none of the methods gave me access to it (well, that I could figure out).
    Ideas anyone?
    Thanks
    Lorinda

            context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            // who sent the event?
            FacesTabbedPanel eventSource = (FacesTabbedPanel) event.getSource();
            UIComponent tabbedPanel = event.getComponent();
            String tabName = tabbedPanel.getId();
            String formId = tabbedPanel.getParent().getId();
            LOG.info("Tab selected:   " + tabName);
            LOG.info("Parent form:   " + formId);
         UIForm form = (UIForm) context.getViewRoot().findComponent(formId);
    NPE HERE ----  UIPanel panel =  (UIPanel) form.findComponent("childTabsGrid");
    // NOTE:  the childTabsGrid must be used to attach children.
            if (panel == null) {
                LOG.error("PanelGrid   'childTabsGrid'   could not be found.  ");
            } else {
    //  ATTACH SUB TABS
                // clear the childTabsGrid to prevent stacking child tabs
                panel.getChildren().clear();
              ListSelectionModel selectionModel = eventSource.getListSelectionModel();

    Yes, i have created a complete portal page using a custom portal tab and JspTilesViewHandlerImpl with all components dynamically rendered and inserted by tiles: dynamic partal tabs, i18n implementation for mesages and SelectItems, dynamically change company layout with its own look-and-feel if a requested information belongs to a company (division, department, branch office, etc). There is some abnormality and how i go around to get the solution up and running. I will post the details in myfaces dev list in the next couple days.
    In essence, the navigation page dispatched by JspTilesViewHandlerImpl works properly with all Jsf UI components. However, within this tile definition and its own layout, any fragment inserted by tiles such as portlets in the left/right columns and the display fragment does not have jsf <h:commandButton> and <h:commandLink> correctly picked up the action while <h:outputLink> properly linked to the intended page.
    I temporarily solve the issue to get the portal up and running. However, this is only a temporary solution since it will severly limit a complete integration of Jsf+Tiles. A complete solution needs to be addressed, which i thing myfaces developers can quickly patch it.

  • How to reset the calendar from myfaces?

    I want to realize a "logoff" feature on my main jsp page. And that page contains a calendar component.
    I simply "redirect" main page to the login page by return a string, however when I login again, the calendar is still like the one of the last login action. Eg: in first login action, I change the current month in the calendar to January, and then I log off. After next login, the month stays January, instead of the current month!
    I tried to reset the members of backing bean, it remains the same.
    I use the component calendar from myfaces, does anyone know how to solve this problem, or simply, how to reset the component calendar?
    Thanks!
